Game is alright. Community is full of Racists and Russians tho so it's awful to play.

The game is fun but there's like 50 people active and half of them will call you slurs on chat so 9.5/10

Great game its a shame its dead
Current state of the game going into 2025:
I recently checked the steamcharts, saw the population was small but steady, and peaked enough to fill a few servers.
So I decided to reinstall it.
It's not active like it was at its height, but there is still a small community kicking around.
From what I can tell, there are a lot of European players keeping it afloat. This puts the peak hours around midday in North and South America. So I think a lot of people calling it "dead" are checking in the evenings in the US.
Point is, if you miss this game like I did, check the servers around midday, if you're in North or South America. You'll find people. If we get enough people in our timezones playing, we can start filling our NA servers during our prime gaming time.
And for anyone who hasn't tried it, it's fun. It's wacky and chaotic. The videos on the store page do a good job of conveying the gameplay. It's most fun when lots of people on your ship have a mic. For better or worse. There's a mutiny mechanic, so annoying captains don't get to keep the helm.
Most fun with friends. But also an easy game to make friends in.
Plus it's free now. Why not check it out?

it wont let me play
Game was fun for a couple hours when the player count peaked, now it's unfortunately pretty much dead, can't even support one whole server most of the time
well the game is fine, but...... it is buggy and dead. NO UPDATES, PROBLEMS WITH MULTIPLAYER ( sometimes ) - okey forgivable , but the worst thing is.....I DON'T FREAKY KNOW HOW TO UNLOCK HATS AND SKINS IN THIS GAME HOW DOES IT WORK????!?!?!?!?!?!!?!??! Bring some updates and fix some bugs

This is one of the first games that I ever bought on steam.
It is very unique in the open and casual pirate gameplay provided. There are very few games as casual as this one. There not many players left, but enough to have at least one decently filled server at all time. It is free, so just give it a try.
guns of seacarus
I bought this game several years ago for dirt cheap. Servers were mostly empty then. Decided to check it out again. Now keeps crashing on launch. Definitely not worth the $1.98 I paid for it.
Great free game! Truly, you will have fun, even if it's just for a minute. Small download and free, give it a shot.

i use to love this game. i loaded in for the first time in years and was forced to play a very annoying tutorial. i am uninstalling now. what a shame.

The hell does free to keep mean? Do I get my money back in that case? Like no shit its free to keep, I spent money on the game mere days before it was abandoned.

Worked and ran great when it was still for sale. Now, after the F2P change, it won't even start anymore.
I still think about how funny it was when you were playing this game and then it would just cut to a silent black screen saying "You were shot in the head." All of the sound of your crew screaming, cannon fire, all of it would just cut to silence. I wish any other game would do that because it never fails to make me burst out laughing when I remember it.

I really liked this (when there were people playing it). It's pretty unpolished but it's also really dope. When you can get a good crew and you've got a captain shouting orders and everyone running around on deck it feels so cool. I'm not sure if anyone actually plays it anymore, and the whole charm came from having a bunch of people in a server, so purchase at your own risk
