Very good tactics game
Good amount of customisation for players as I managed to recreate my friends as a soccer team!
Enjoyed working out the best way to teach them all the different skills they needed
I also got to tactically abuse the offside rule so it is basically real soccer.
Ganbare! is a turn-based tactical football/soccer game with some RPG elements. And it is fun in its simplicity. That doesn't mean that it doesn't have its challenges, just that it's not the deepest most complex title out there.
Overall a fun little game that you can hop on and off whenever you need a small fix of tactical goodness.
Kinda Nice
I love it. Make sequel please. But longer one. Maybe with kind of league that have transfer ability.
Fun little game. Is not that long, took me 7 hours to beat it. But every hour of that was fun
TLDR:
Overall, the core gameplay is pretty fun and it has a lot of potential but keep in mind that content-wise it is a small game. If you get a nice discount, it's totally worth it, otherwise I think it could be a little bit cheaper.

I was hyped by the World Cup 2022 and RPG tactics is one of my favourite genres so I might be biased to say this game was exactly what I needed. It has interesting characters designs and very cool gameplay mixing football and tactics.
However, I feel like the game is not complete. I know that the developer is solo so it's not fair to request that much, but I missed a lot of things to make it even more fun, like:
• More challenging AI. I didn't feel challenged at all. it's still satisfying to score a goal and win a match though;
• More customisation. We can customise our own team name/shield and the generic characters but thats it. I wanted for example to create a whole team from scratch, maybe after finishing the main storyline.
• Explanation of things. The game has a few status effects and skills that I had no idea what they do and there is no way to know other than experimenting it yourself.
• Better UI/UX. It was not so smooth to make basic actions and choose abilities, but what was really not good was the menu, the way you customize your characters and navigate through it in general was a pain.
• Network Multiplayer. I know, it's a massive amount of work, but I feel like this game would be a perfect fit for it, so yeah, would be very cool, maybe in a sequel.
And some possible bugs that I notice:
• Chance percentage to accomplish something. It's there, but I feel like it was wrong most of the time, specially with passes.
• Offside for the AI. I was constantly creating an offside line on my defence but the AI doesn't seem to be affected by this rule.
• The game totally stuck one time and I think it's related to using dribbling skills inside the barrier created by the German guy.
A turn-based, tactical soccer game with simple mechanics that make it easy to pick up and play.
Unfortunately, the AI is very easily abused and beaten - even on the hardest difficulty. Also, the menu makes it a bit tedious to keep an overview of what skills each player has learned. Against other human players it's fine, but also shows the questionable balance of the teams.
Overall, it's worth a try if you can get it at a discount. I don't think it's worth the normal price.
Skip FIFA. Throw Pro Evolution in the trash. If you play one soccer game this year, pick this one!
Ganbare's turn-based tactics gameplay is perfect for prolonged play sessions OR short bursts.
The graphics are friendly and easy on the eyes while providing a cute flair to the game.
So good that I even got it on Switch!
Inazuma Eleven is one of my favorite games on the Nintendo DS and Ganbare! Super Strikers manages to scratch that itch that I often still get. That itch being a soccer/football strategy game where you and the opposing team take turns moving your players around the field trying to score the most goals (think of it like soccer/football meets chess). The twist however is that all the players can have special abilities and other status afflicting ailments that make scoring not-so straightforward. Every move has to be thought out whether you're playing offensively or defensively and you must adapt as the game progresses.
Admittedly, Ganbare doesn't hold a candle to Inazuma Eleven, but the clear inspiration and tactical gameplay hooked me anyway. The story is bare, abilities need balance tweaks, there are some audio issues, and the overall game is on the shorter side. There were also quite a few times where I was confused on what an ability actually does/how long it would last. Despite all these shortcomings it's not a bad game.
I loved the core gameplay mechanics, seeing what gimmick the opposing team would have and how to combat it, and teaching my teammates new skills to make them versatile for any scenario. The achievements were all very doable as I was able to 100% the game in about 13 hours. The ability to edit each player's appearance—which was a nice addition that Inzuma Eleven did not have—was a welcoming surprise and one of my favorite aspects of Ganbare.
If you like sports and strategy games, there's no reason not to try Ganbare!
I actually dislike football, but this is turn based tactics and its great! Best football game for a person whos not into football award! Bravo! 9/10
It's kind of like an anime version of Blood Bowl. It blends TRPG and JRPG pretty well. Some of the music doesn't quite loop properly and it became a bit grating for me, but that's pretty nitpicky. The level up system is somewhat unique, with special abilities being trained via equipment each character wears. I haven't tried the multiplayer, but it's a nobrainer for a game like this to support local multiplayer, and I could see it being a lot of fun!
Overall I'd say this is definitely worth a look. It's pretty niche, but if you're thinking of getting it, I'd recommend giving it a shot at least.
i would strongly recommend trying this game out
such a hidden gem of game certainly deserves more attention than it gets
easy to learn not too hard
obviously things in game that be could improve on but need remember only 1 member of staff
only soo much one person can do .
just (MAYBE) more staff more a reason make super striker 2 only thing id personally change is the name of game
to get more people willing try game out
As someone who isn't really into sports games, but really enjoys tactical RPGs, this was a great game!
The AI isn't perfect however (in one match it couldn't calculate a move and just skipped it's turn until the end of the half) and I feel like I found a perfect strategy to beat it by the end. Still great fun and only about 5 hours long if you only go for story mode.
However, I did run into a crash that seems to happen if you open the special ability menu too many times during a match, which freezes the game and then crashes. Got it to happen 3 times, after that I decided to calm down on the abilities and it never happened again. Not big enough to warrant a "No", but annoying when it happens.
A really fun and unique way of taking football games. Really loves how the game use tactical-rpg gameplay instead of the conventional active real time football match. I think it can be improved with more customization and ability variety (ex: combination ability like the double bicycle kick in Tsubasa). Overall i love this game, I really hope the game could become much more and played by more people.
P.S. I still keep forgetting that offside is a thing in here ffs
My son completed the game in two days.(through family library so don't look at my hours played)
With that said, he had loads of fun. controlls and concepts were easy enough for him to understand and use without any help.
I'd say the only real con was that after you complete the nationals and go to world cup, you are forced to play as Japan national team which is filled with players that were not part of the team you created. So fun of team logo, kits etc that he himself created, went away for him.
100% worth the price.
Turn based strategy/soccer game with the ability to replay levels and gain experience and items, the latter of which allow you to develop special skills. Reminds me a little bit of Mega Man soccer from back in the day. I enjoy it.
A soccer RPG that actually plays like soccer! Very minor kinks with the camera but overall super solid and nice to play. I can't get over how the rules recreate the game of soccer with pretty life-like accuracy: i think in some ways even better than games like FIFA.
Simple yet quite fun to play. However, there's a an annoying bug, which freezes the game whenever you apply multiple debuffs to your opponent. Only get this game when it is on sales.

I always wanted to make a game like that. But knowing well enough that gamedev is hard and daydreaming is not, I just let somebody else to read my mind and do it. And now it's done.
Ganbare! is a very well executed, turn-based, strategy in a "sports anime" sauce. If you grew up watching the struggles of Tsubasa, Genzo and Kojiro, you have a full picture in your mind's mind.
The learning curve is pretty steep, especially for people who don't flex their strategy muscle very often, so take your time with it.
Ganbare!'s mix of tactical rpg with soccer games really takes me back to the good ol' times of FF Tactics and Captain Tsubasa.
I've been following the development of this game since its early stages of development, and it really has changed a lot! I'm pleased to see it finally published in Steam. I'm really looking forward to see what Rese has in mind for his next project.
I've been following the development of Ganbare! Super Strikers since it was announced. Even if I'm kind of the opposite of an expert on Tactic RPGs, the mixture of strategy and soccer caught my attention -and brought me memories of good old Tecmo Cup Soccer.
I find the game to be fun and accessible for new players. The game interface is simple and intuitive and the game is fast and driven by easy to understand mechanics that offer lots of different options for more experienced players.
It's not hard to see when someone actually cares about the game they're developing and this is one of these cases. I'm not sure I can describe this accurately, but there's something very special that shines through Ganbare! Super Strikers. Maybe it's nostalgia and love for manga titles such as Captain Tsubasa, maybe it's the passion and care that Rese has put on every corner of the game, trying to make something solid, fun and respectful to the player. It probably is a mixture of both.
I have yet to complete Ganbare! Super Strikers, but I'm already looking forward to see what Rese has to bring us next.
If you've always been a fan of Captain Tsubasa, if you'd like to emulate their epic matches but don't feel like running an endless playing field... This is the game you're looking for. Ganbare! Super Strikers truly captures the spirit of the NES games based on the anime series, with a whole staff of lovely characters and engaging mechanics. Nice and charming game ideal for 15-20 minutes of spare time.
