Good game.
Though it would be better with the originals included.
Game seems to have an issue where the playfield doesn't load in. The playfield just looks black but you can hear the game going on in the background. When it happens you have to close to the main menu and then go back into the level to load. In the 15m I spent with the game it happened more often than it didn't and so I requested a refund.

This game runs great on linux and of course that means on the steam deck too, getting 60 fps. I can't for the life of me get it to run above 55 fps on windows 11 though. Not even at 800x600 resolution. Fullscreen or not. This needs a patch for windows 11. If you know of a fix please help us all out and comment below.

Great game. I used to play the original "Pang" games in the arcades back in the day and loved it. In all honesty, this is even more fun!
If I had a wishlist, it would be the ability to choose from different skill levels (an easier version for younger kids would be amazing) and more ability to remap the controls, as it's tricky to play on my arcade cabinet.
Other than that, for the money it's superb, and I highly recommend it.
This is quite a bit better than I'd imagined it would be. I was expecting Amiga gameplay with shiny graphics but there is quite a bit more and the game opens up a bit after the 1st chapter. More bullet-hell-ish than the original but I like bullet hell so I had a good time here playing local co-op.
A great remake with fun gameplay and nice co-op mode and a good reminder of what we were playing in our youth.
At first i thought, this is a poor pang game but then further into the game i thought yea this is quite entertaining and is worthy of being part a the pang family
Puzzley and arcadey, Run left and right bursting bubbles until all the bubbles are burst with some end of level bosses to take down along the way using the same mechanic. Level variation is interesting enough to keep one entertained.
Nothing taxing but that's just what the doctor calls for sometimes.
Yes it is an amazing game, fun couch and online co-op. A true sequel/remake of the classic arcade! Tots recommended.
Mild recommendation. I like the original Pang and Super Pang. This plays similarly in a lot of ways with one very key exception: the timer is extremely aggressive. The originals had timers to add a little pressure but here, they're you're biggest enemy on most levels. Often it means finding a key power-up or weapon so you can clear a lot of bubbles as quickly as possible. Still, when you die, it throws you right back in the action with little delay, so that's nice. Overall, I like it, but I was hoping for something a little more relaxing and "zen" like the originals.
Fun game but stressful like old arcade style games. It makes you think quick and figure out patterns so I think its good for your brain too.
I don't know what is this but this is not Pang. Level difficulty is offset by the timer and you need to follow the directions to beat the level. Boss battles are boring and uninspired.
If yu wanted to play original Pang, this is not for you.
Survival mode is a blast.
If you can catch a sale, Survival mode is worth the price of admission.
Story mode looks good seems ok aswell.
Id imagine playing with a friend online would make it even better.

Do you remember that old pal you never really liked from back in the day? The one who always had to get the laser gun from the original game and yet kept complaining about how he disliked the smallest bubbles because he just didn't have the skills to do so? Of course, at least he did hit the platforms with it, wich drove him even more agitated as in the original you had to stay with your grapling hook to shoot them down.
Wanna know what he does today?
Well ... looks like he f*'n made this game, because he hates about everything from the original concept! Even the timeless piece of art that is the music tune playing throughout the levels got shoved out. There is just no reason at all to play this very reincarnation, apart from what looks like if you do so, you could unlock the original game as a bonus after completion of the overly stretched out tour mode.
Avoid, if you love the original!

Pros:
+ Hitboxes are wellplaced and smooth.
+ Gfx and game itself is polished.
+ Checked with steam controller and it works great.
Cons:
- Isnt as fun as the classic arcade version. Its not even have half the fun if you are playing it single player. Co-op can be more fun.
- Game area is too small and tedious. Maybe im not remembering it right, but original coin-up version had more space.
- Added puzzle aspect is unnecessary and defiles the originals core charm.

There is something bad and there is something good. If you have a co-op friend and a controller (playing it with a keyboard is for masochists) could be fun for few hours. Other than that just 'meh'. I still prefer the original.Another successful trip on the nostalgia train. My friends and I spent many a quarter doing coin-op co-op in the arcade playing Buster Bros., and popping bubbles to save the world is as fun as ever.
I have to say though, it is definitely a different feel. I don't remember the pace of Buster Bros. being as frantic and unforgiving as this game, but then again, the quarter-munching arcade machine didn't give infinite lives or instant replay either. So though I died a lot - and I mean A LOT - very rarely did I find the bubble swarm to be difficult to the point of frustration. The timer on the other hand...I do have to complain that the time limits are brutally harsh on some levels, preventing me from taking a calm and calculated approach and instead forcing me to throw away life after life after (fortunately unlimited) life just trying to button mash and fluke dodge my way through. Which I guess was the point...and I did clear the world tour, with my less than optimal bullet-hell skills, so maybe I'm focusing too much on it.
All in all, a fun and simple little game that I'm glad I picked up, and will probably play one-off games of well into the future. Do check the discussion boards though - while I played solo with no plan or hope of reaching 100% completion, so these issues never bothered me, there are a lot of complaints (and I think valid) about how some achievements are impossible due to bugs, and that online co-op is locked until you clear the world tour. Keep that in mind if looking to play with friends and/or achievement hunt.

Let's be honest, nostalgia sells this - most of the people who bought this remember the game from back in the days. Unfortunately the retro aesthetic is ruined by these "new modern HD sprites". Kinda like DuckTales! The gameplay is okay though with some slight annoyance.

This game is sadly enough not a patch on the original series. The dreadful art style and less than optimal gameplay really hurt the fun, especially when coupled with the 'story' segments. I used to love the SNES game I owned, but this one is fit for the dusters.

Did Pang Adventures burst my nostalgia bubble?
I used to be pretty good at the original game back in the day :) At the time it was rather unique, a bit of a twist of Space Invaders with some ricocheting 'bubble' madness that offered a suprisingly good challenge. My friends and I sunk a lot of fun-filled hours into it on my Amiga 500 (ahh.. the memories). Fast forward almost 30 years (and a few sequels later) the latest incarnation, Pang Adventures has set my nostalgia meter running.
Core mechanics remain essentially the same as they were, but there are a few more modes, ball effects, weapons & boss fights to spice things up.
It does 'kinda' feel as I remember. Sound effects, music & graphics do work well to rekindle that retro feeling & it still has that balancing act between firing your grapple or dodging, & the timing & calculating ahead to pop the bouncing bubbles as efficiently (& as quickly) as you can. A good test of your coordination skills. I can't say it's as engaging or replayable as my childhood remembers though, but there is enough content for a few good hours or more to clock the Tour mode, plus a bit more with multiplayer, Score & Panic modes.
Tour mode becomes very challenging (almost puzzle like) in later levels, often pushing you to the last second even after multiple attempts, but my favorite mode would have to be the Panic mode. It cuts out all the 'Save the World' story BS & gets you straight into the action in increasingly difficult challenges. The 99 levels are structured in waves, providing an almost constant stream of attack balls to pop.
It gets hard!
To add to the ahem panic, this mode also gets increasingly faster. This works really well, making the game play more fluid & frantic!

I've try tried to find a multiplayer game on several occasions but have not been success to date. It can be played with friends in local coop though if you want to kick it old school (although I havent tried that myself).
So to answer the question, did Pang Adventures burst my nostalgia bubble? No, not at all!
It strikes the delicate balance of being close enough to the original concept to be familiar, but also fresh enough bringing a new lick of paint, modes & other enhancements to the table. A quality remake that doesn't compromise the Pang legacy.

The original game in North America was known as Buster Bros. That game and Super Buster Brothers were both released as arcade cabinents games in North America.
This game consists of set stages in which you "pop" flying bubbles around a small level. This game is quite fun to play, especially if you have a 2p co-op partner (if you can find one that is..). Local Co-op is also found in the game if you have 2 people in your house...
The game is quite short if you beat it all the way through. This is not a long game, but it is quite challenging. This game is not easy, but can be conquered easier with 2 players.
NOTE: There are issues with 2 controllers for this game..Be aware of this.
I recommend this fun arcade game to my friends and others. Have fun playing it!
There's only one thing I really miss : It's the way the cables weren't straight but all squiggly in the original game. I played Adventures for 30 minutes with a nagging feeling that something was wrong, and that was it.
Other than that, I've got nothing but praises. Grabbed a controller, gave the second one to my brother who was visiting that day, and suddenly we were kids again back in my old bedroom playing on my Amiga 500.
12/10, would nostalgia again.
A refreshing version of Pang.
I'm a very big fan of Pang series, I played Pang at the arcades and on my home SNES console and I must admit that, although I was a bit sceptic, that this turned out very good. I really captures the spirit of Pang, the sound and graphics are pretty nice but I came up with flaws that ruined the gaming experience for me. The smallest baloons are still too big which hinders small manouvers and that "saved by hairlenght" factor. Although there are some good levels, the level design might be better. There are very few levels with ladders (as opposed to previous pang iterations) and this is really shame as the level design tends to be a bit boring and unbalanced - you come a cross a very hard level only to be followed by three or four easy levels in a row. The devs included a bunch of weapons that I find a bit overkill and sometimes even useless, on the other hand, dyinamites are used very seldomly. I wish there was a "retro mode" which would give you only the basic weapons like one spear, double spear, grapling hook and the minigun.
Controls are tight and get the job done although I couldn't get my home-made arcade stick to work as it wasnt' recognized. I think the devs should fix that as soon as possible. I hate to use Joy2key to get the job done and this is, in my honest opinion the biggest flaw. But I think it can be easily fixed in the next update.
After all, the game is very fun to play and it offers multiplayer which I sadly did not managed to play as I figured there are still very few players actually playing this game. But adding people to steam friends that own the game gets the job done , as the game supports friend invite.
I will give this game a Yes because it's a very unique game and offers tons of fun , especially in co-op.
I feel like it retains the spirit of the game I once knew. Now if only someone would bust some bubbles with me..
edit: As a note, if you plan to play multiplayer.. Online Tour Mode is locked which forces both players to finish Tour Mode alone just to play it again together. The only online mode available at the start with is Panic Mode.
Kind of a bummer.
