If you're a fan of the show, you'll like this game. Grab this one and the first game in the deluxe bundle. This game goes on sale frequently.
Plays like games we grew up with with little big of nostaligia. Fun game for a few hours!
love the man but not the game
pretty good game, but it's a bit challenging.
Cowabunga? Cow-a-fuckin'-piece-of-dog-shit!
I played the first one on my 3DS when I saw this game on one of the AVGN episodes by James Rolfe. His sereis is the main reason why I like playing retro video games. After playing this game for 2 hours here's my review of the game. You start off in your home with your nes zapper shooting enemies that get in your way. You can get upgrades like the cape that lets you glide for a few seconds, power glove that can break through brick walls, super scope that does more damage, a upgrade that can charge your shots for more damage, a gaming helmet that can let you see hidden blocks, and others. You need to get 6 green triforce stars to make it to the last level. Getting the upgrades can help you out in bosses. Some are hidden but I used a guide to help me out. You fight bosses you might be familiar with like the Nostalgia Critic. When you go idle for a few seconds AVGN gives you the finger. The music in this game is pretty good for a old school inspired game. Some levels were tough for me like those death blocks that can insta kill you or enemies that can one shot you when you get nera them like the chainsaw dudes. You go through different levels like Area 52, a Japan inspired level, board land, sewers, black and white place with ghost, and monsters, and the tutorial level which is AVGN's home. Every level you blow up the level with a bomb killing all the area. You can side items like f bombs that explode when they hit something, steel balls that are used to damage enemies, beer keg that can heal up all your health, and others. Each last level of a stage you fight a boss which was easy for me since I played it on easy diffculty. There are references to James Rolfe's friend and characters from his other shows. There's even reference's to old video games and cartoons like Totaro from my Neighbor Totaro. Even had parts where the game lagged on me like in the sewer level but was normal after a few minutes. I did have a few problems with the game like not being able to use my Xbox One controller properly for this game. I tried to configure the buttons and that didn't help. There are collectables like getting all the nerd letters but stopped after a while because I didn't feel like getting them. If you want to get this game wait untli there's a sale and you can get both games for a good price. I give this game a 8 out of 10.
This game is awesome, but DAMN hard!
I feel like the difficulties are almost same!
Fun.
This game made me clench my ass cheeks so way too tight and especially on the last level before the Final Boss. Now i know how you feel having to go through all those Shitty games and i rather would dump my ass all over it, if it was a shitty game...But this is shitty game made perfect
The Dark Souls of games based on Youtubers....
In all seriousness, it's a very challenging but fun 2d platformer. There's a collection edition with both games that's better value but in terms of the 2 games, I'd say the first is for fans of AVGN, the gameplay isn't perfect, while this sequel is a proper retro callback anyone who enjoys 2d games can play.
