Since childhood, this game has remained my favorite medieval-era real-time strategy challenge, and I come back to it occasionally.

the start of strongholds downfall, 3D artstlye made it less fun, less memorable, story mode is meh at best and multiplayer sucks ass, can't even add AI opponents to this games skirmish version if you want to play with another player

it went strictly downhill from here with stronghold

My review only says 24 hours, but I've easily sunk over a thousand into this. I owned the game when it originally released and I have played it on every machine I've owned since. When it re-released on steam I had to buy it and I haven't been sorry.

The Kingmaker mode is where I spend all my time and I still am not tired of it. There's something infinitely satisfying about building your little economy, making weapons, and filling towers with archers. The music is on-point, the voices still make me chuckle, and I love the feeling of being safe behind my castle walls.

-new features need honor to train troops
-lack historical story campaign

This is one of the classics ! I highly recommend to people that are new to Stronghold, to start playing from the first sequel, Stronghold ( I ), than move to Stronghold Crusader ( I ). Really good for kids also because it just forces you to think more.

Overall pretty good game some campaign missions can be frustrating like some siege missions or the time based ones. They feel "gimmicky" but the other missions are fantastic!

This is the best RTS game I have ever played in my entire life, and I have had my share of RTS games, even though its old I still play it till this day, dont let the 30 hours here fool you, I have played it since release so most likely more than 300 hours.

I really do hope that somebody creates a game like this in the coming days

Played the shit out of this game in high school on a Dell computer. I'll still play the shit out of this now, but I'd say it's mainly for those who enjoy the castle type game or like the whole castle defense sim. It can be frustrating for those that prefer a faster paced RTS and all games like that and shit.

The best stronghold game. Along with Legends and crusaders.

Snagged this up for nostalgia. It was a blast to play back in the day, and if you enable cheats, it basically becomes a castle building sandbox. I must admit however, that its more fun to play when you're managing everything, keeping raiders at bay, making sure the granaries are always full, keeping disease in check blah blah blah.

In many ways its the great great great great great ancestor to Manor Lords.
I'm an aging millennial who grew up with these titles, and sometimes it's nice to take a trip down memory lane!

After pirating this game countless times, I finally decided to pay for it. The entire series was on sale super cheap. Wait for the entire series to go on sale and buy it.
