This game is fun
Brings back the memories
it's Galaga, its good
I relinquished my manhood for this game, but even more embarrassingly, the "developers" of this simple port could not for the life of them encapsulate the utter uncomplicated nature of Galaga. This port is so bad, it's baffling.
The game appears to be mostly intact upon a cursory glance, but if you hunt around through the menus even a little, you will discover the true nature of this game - a shallow cashgrab (yes I know the game is $4).
Let's examine the structure of the settings menu for a moment to behold how bad it is:
Display -> overlay menu which looks nothing like anything else (exiting this screen will take you back to the main gameplay loop instead of the actual settings menu which got you here)
Sound -> {
Sound Quality
Reverb Length
Reverb Depth
Attract Sound
Sound Test
Default Settings
Back
}
Controls -> {
Invert Up/Down
Default Settings
Back
}
Game Settings -> {
Select Round
Starting Lives
Extra Lives
Version
Self-Test Screen
Reset High Score
Default Settings
Back
}
Reset All
Back
First of all, there should not be a forcible (1 second) delay upon selecting a button to navigate the submenus. I should be able to click on a button and be brought to the respective submenu without the obnoxious flashing animation that plays upon selecting a button.
Second, where is the volume slider? Can I mute the game at all? In it's current state, you simply cannot mute the game. You can toggle the sound quality though! (What the hell difference does it make for 16-bit audio?)
Thirdly, the controls menu: where do I even begin? It has three total buttons. If you toggle 'Invert Up/Down' (the only setting in the menu), it toggles the actual keys for up and down even within the menu contexts. Want to reach 'Default Settings'? You'll have to press the up arrow. And for that matter, why is there a 'Default Settings' within the menu to begin with? There is only one visible setting, and its values are Yes/No. After these harrowing realizations, you'll have to wait a full second after pressing the 'Back' button to return to the previous menu.
The 'Game Settings' submenu is a recent addition that I haven't played around with much, but I'm sure there is ample jenk there as well.
Ok, so the menu sucks. Is that really all I came to complain about? God no, it only gets worse from here.
The quality of the actual gameplay is below even that of the world's cheapest arcade machine. Have you seen the internals of arcade machines? The labyrinth of fleshy disjoint wires that make up such beasts? Those sheer, unfeeling, appliance-sized computational monstrosities somehow - despite every hardware limitation of their era - still manage to pull better frames for Galaga than whatever rubbish emulator this "port" is patched together with. The audio constantly desyncs. The entities for the scorpion trifecta aren't de-allocated correctly leading to what I can only presume is a memory leak (framerate stutters and dies). I don't even know why all this effort was spent on a Galaga port that makes only tangential use of steams leaderboard services. I really cannot diagnose why all this is as bad as it is. All I can say is:
Do not buy this game!
This game is playable only if you're standards for a 40+ year old game are about as low as for the upcoming Hytale release.
I could have spent the money I used on this game on Walmart-brand anti-roach insecticide to tend to my apartment. The roaches have ultimately had the last laugh, though.
TL; DR: you've already wasted your time looking at the reviews for this game. Caveat Emptor! Do not buy! Fetch a ROM, or just play any of the infinitely better online variations of Galaga. Again, do not buy!
It's Galaga. 10/10.
A perfect retro game. Simple and easy to play, but hard to master. There is a reason people are still playing it decades after release. The sights and sounds of Galaga are absolutely breathtaking. A great game to play on the steam deck.
Old School Space Invaders shooter. Great Stuff and completely unforgiving.
Good ole fashion game
Amazing game!
Beautiful visual gesign, cool sounds
Very pleasure play this
Classic game. Must have.
Favourite Arcade game and love this digital verison
nothing like it best retro game i know it calls to me. deeply engaged in the best space shooter of all time by far so happy they have new dlc for elden ring and i want the new coop game has a good release.
The sound effects from this game will stick in your head for days, weeks, months, or even years.
This space shooter requires you to shoot all of the aliens before they make it to your ship and destroy it. You get 3 lives and once they are spent it's game over. This is a true arcade classic. Back in the day we would compete for high scores at the arcade Galaga and several other games.
Rating: 10/10 This is THE space shooter that really brought games like this to life.
All right, sweethearts, what are you waiting for? Breakfast in bed? It's another glorious day in the Corps.
TOP 10 GAME EVER
Classic, just classic
WE'VE ONLY BEEN PLUGGED IN A WEEK!
EVERY DAY IT'S CLIMB THE BUILDING AND FIGHT BUGS, CLIMB THE BUILDING, AND FIGHT MORE BUGS
and all for what... a lousy medal?
All time classic arcade game... but only crap the space ships move like they had too much Pepsi and pop rocks.
I mean it's the all time classic Galaga for only $4
Love this game lots. Since i was kid on Game boy. Still Love this Game in my opinion.
everyone should love galaga
There really isn't much that I can say about Galaga that hasn't already been said. Galaga starts off simple but gradually gets tougher. It especially gets tougher once the enemies start dive bombing at the start of waves and moving much more quickly in general. You can also get cornered easily if you aren't careful. This game also has a rather effective risk vs reward system with the dual fighter mechanic. While dual fighters are an effective way to clear enemy waves quickly as well as perfecting bonus rounds (which are still challenging to perfect even with a dual fighter), they leave players with a bigger hitbox which in turn makes it far easier to get hit (especially in later waves). Use this mechanic wisely.
Overall, Galaga is worth it at full price or on sale.
Very fun and simple, worth the money
My childhood right here! [8/10 Very Good]
Nostalgia at it's finest and you don't even need a pocket full of quarter.
shooting space bugs is fun

Well, as you might have noticed, I played this classic, and honestly, I’m absolutely terrible at it. I can’t hit a thing, I always die right at the start, and truth be told, I’m awful at this game. But hey, that doesn’t mean I can’t recognize that it’s a great game. This is actually a really good port, a remastered version with additional achievements, and honestly, it’s very well done. I highly recommend it.
Even though it’s much harder for me than I’d like to admit, I can’t deny that it got me hooked. It’s one of those titles that, even if you’re terrible at it, makes you want to keep trying, to give it one more shot. So, despite my miserable skills, I recommend it without hesitation.

Galaga is a classic and easy to play on this platform.
This is a certified 80s hood classic.
Of the Arcade Game Series, this one is my favorite.
A simple arcade shooter where you shoot down enemies while avoiding enemy bullets.
For an old school arcade shooter, I may prefer this one more than Space Invaders since there's no pressure that your enemies are coming closer and closer towards you (which made me not like the other mentioned classic arcade shooter).
In this one, the enemy always returns to their starting position in the end if they move and are not shot down.
Give it a try if you like simple old school arcade shooters.
Ah yes where do I even start with this one? Ah right. . . Asteroids! It's good, It's fun, It's really worth your time If I say so.
galaga is goated.
The True Origin Of GALAGA Is This:
In the year 3000 AD, the Psychlos, an alien race, have ruled Earth for a millennium. The Psychlos discovered a deep space probe (suggested to be Voyager 1) with directions and pictures mounted on it and the precious material, gold, which led them straight to Earth.
Psychlos stand up to 9 feet (2.7 m) tall and weigh up to 1,000 pounds (450 kg). They originate from Psychlo, a planet with an atmosphere radically different from Earth, located in another universe with a distinct set of physical laws characterized by a lack of elements that are radioactive. Their "breathe-gas" explodes on contact with even trace amounts of radioactive material, such as uranium. The Psychlos have been the dominant species across multiple universes for at least 100,000 years.
After one thousand years, humanity is an endangered species numbering fewer than 35,000 and reduced to tribes in isolated parts of the world while the Psychlos strip the planet of its mineral wealth
Scientology Took This Idea And Made A Cult
A decent PC port of one of the absolute best Namco arcade classics. There's some neat options, steam achievements, and even a level select. If you're just craving Galaga like some kind of nerd then go for it, its got a low price and it goes on sale often.
One of my favorite childhood games, it remains just as enjoyable now as an adult. I can relax and play for hours without worrying about running out of coins.
Great game, and an incredibly influential game. As featured in the equally influential cult film, WarGames. However... this version has digital movement, which it wasn't designed for. Therefore, the emulation is crap and it's more difficult than it's intended to be. I guess buying this absolves you of any piracy sins.
It's galaga what else can i say
I used to play this when I was younger. It brings back memories.
