SimplePlanes 2 - Coming Next Year!
About the Game
BUILD AIRPLANES
You have the tools you need to bring any airplane to life. Snap parts together to build your airplane's body. Place engines to add thrust. Design and attach wings and then strap yourself into the cockpit and see how it flies.
DOWNLOAD AIRPLANES
Over 100,000 airplanes are available to download for free from Find anything from old WW2 bombers to next generation fighters to sci-fi spacecrafts. You can upload your own airplanes and rise through the ranks from a bronze builder to a gold level builder.
LOOKING FOR VR?
Are you looking for the new SimplePlanes VR? After you get to the bottom of this page, you can check out the list showing a quick comparison between SimplePlanes and SimplePlanes VR.DYNAMIC FLIGHT MODEL
Flight simulation at its finest. Every little decision you make while designing will impact how you fly it. Weight distribution, thrust, lift, and drag are all calculated continuously while flying. Parts can break off in a spectacular fashion while you're flying due to over-stress or by impacting something. The fun won't stop there though. You can keep on flying even with a missing wing if you've got the skills.
CHALLENGES
Climb in to the cockpit of one of your craft and see how you fare piloting it in the challenges. The challenges will keep you entertained for hours. Land on aircraft carriers, escort bombers, dodge surface-to-air missiles, race through courses, and so much more.
SANDBOX
Use all available parts to build airplanes with no restrictions. The sky is the limit. Literally.
MODDING
Modding is fully supported so you can build your own parts and environments. Download our Unity package which includes specially designed tools to aid in designing and building mods which you can then share with your friends and the community.
Still have a question about SimplePlanes vs. SimplePlanes VR? Let's see if this helps...
- Both games have access to the same crafts*
- SimplePlanes includes an aircraft builder, SimplePlanes VR does not.
- Except for those which require building; all challenges, islands, locations, aircraft, etc. are available in both games.
- Buying both of them on Steam will automatically enable VR in SimplePlanes. After VR is enabled in SimplePlanes you can do everything there, without switching games.
*See SimplePlanes VR's store page for information related to downloading crafts in VR.

I absolutely loved this game, it's a perfect outlet for my creativity and I 100% recommend it to all sorts of people that have an interest in aerospace engineering or even just flying cool stuff
Addicted to Ace Combat, and this further increasing my addiction to plane warfare.

Simple but fun, very versatile too so you can also go beyond "simple".
Awesome. There's nothing I don't like about it, probably one of the best plane games I've ever seen.
Great game, but I would like to see more things:
- Multiplayer
- More detailed designer place (not very required, optional)
- Bigger map with more islands (maybe some big ones)
- More edit features for fuselages and wings
I hope the team will add one of this things, or even everything to SimplePlanes 2! Or even to the existing game, who knows.
So this game is not for everyone. It started as a mobile game a decade ago and the core has not changed much since then. That said, if you're willing to stick with it the game can be a blast. The basic mechanics of building are very simple, but using fuselage and the games built in coding language, Funky Trees, can be a fairly massive skill curve. Beyond that, there is a ton of complexity in building suspension, weapons, screens, and making the vehicle drive well. Some of the most important building features, such as being able to nudge parts around or edit the properties of your parts beyond their preset limitations, are in slightly clunky interfaces originally designed as mods for the game but incorporated in entirety when the developers annexed that modder. These interfaces add abilities that the developers probably would have never tried otherwise, which is probably a good thing since the possibilities for what you can make are pretty much unlimited. Honestly while the systems of the game are rather difficult to use, the ceiling for both what you can make and the skills you can have are pretty much unlimited, resulting in some almost perfect recreations of aircraft, cars, and more from some of the game's top creators. The physics of the in-game world are pretty limited to be honest, they are rather unrealistic and aren't too far removed from Unity 3.1's defaults. That's ok though, because with enough skill and some rather janky placement of invisible thrusters and wings you can make stuff act pretty much however you want. There's multiplayer too, although it is only available as a mod and is a bit janky. That said there is a fairly active segment of the population that plays in the multiplayer servers pretty often, and you can usually find 4 or 5 people playing. The biggest part of this game for most is the community. I started playing this game about three years ago, putting about a hundred hours in on mobile in addition to my 200 on this, and while I feel I have outgrown the community to some extent, I do not regret the fun I had on there. Someone figured out how to upvote unlisted posts with goofy stuff in the backend of the website, and that if you are added to be a contributor on a mod you can upvote that, giving yourself some points, and someone (Korzalerke) had created an unlisted mod to add people to as contributors and use as a secret chatroom. A bunch of people were upvoting it, and that actually resulted in people gaining a not insignificant amount of points as a result. This incident probably doesn't mean much to someone who hasn't participated in the online community, but the good times I've had will not be forgotten as I move on in life.
The game is fun to play. You can create your own plane and fly it making the game more fun. The only problem is that my mouse cursor doesn't show up when playing the game. I tried many ways to fix it but it wont be fixed. I guess now I have to guess the location of the cursor when playing..
Although sometimes very limiting to basic shape and layout in building, you'll be surprised by how much detail you can out in your plane/build in this game.
The game lacks optimization and is stuttering to run
its really fun but i think it should be cheaper doesnt really worth 10 bucks
Takes a bit of time and effort to understand, i recommend the forums if you need help. It's worth it, amazing game
quite nostalgic, unfortunate they cut support recently
i love taking the planes other people make an making the cursed (afterburning turbojets on an a10)
It's a really good game, the downloads can be weird at times, but with MODS, it makes the game more enjoyable.
VERY LOW QUALITY aonly good thiung you could prob is go ojnn theiur websited
amazing graphics love how mads are easy to instal and the crash physics not bad and biulding planes i think this is one of the best games in my opinion
great simple flight sim, with plenty of sandbox creativity
best game been playing for a while
amazing game 10/10
SimplePlanes is like a flight simulator that was made by a toddler on caffeine. It's simple, in the sense that you can build a plane out of anything (including a car, a rocket, or what I believe was an actual toaster). The only thing more unstable than your creations is your mental state after 5 hours of trying to make a plane that doesn’t immediately explode when you hit 'takeoff.'
It's a cool game but you'd better get used to the controls (you can change the keybinds to your liking too!)
just bad overall, take the name literally. a tiny map with planes you have to manually download, and you have to map the controls yourself. -1/10
really good like the joystick feature
Yeah I wish i was here when this game was actively being updated but im glad to have found it when I did.
very neat. hope more analog controller inputs could be added for more complex creations.
I have played (on other things) for 6 years straight (around 13,893 Hours!), Its amazing, its worth every penny
its so cool bro it have twa flight and jal 123 and so many other good quality btw
Its alright
It's an unoptimized glitchy mess
what can I say bro? the planes are simple! get on discount
great game
S+ tier game
It fun to fly plen :3
Awesome game with an awesome community keeping the game alive. As long as the SimplePlanes website is up, browsing designs and trying them out is only a few clicks away. A simple and pure experience for those who like building things. Relatively easy to mod as well for those who are into that kind of thing.
Sidenote: I've bought this game multiple times, Steam and Android as well as copies for friends.
Going through the comments, I see some common issues I would like to address.
"Controls bad" - Rebind them or plug in a controller, you have control over the controls.
"NEED MULTIPLAYER" - Yes it does. I've played SP multiplayer through mods. Was janky and choppy, but it was fun seeing people taxi their designs and following each other around. Might be too late to experience it now, but maybe somebody on the SP Discord might be down for SP online shenanigans.
I like how you can use custom planes
Great Game! Just wish the physics were better. Maybe wait for SP2 instead of buying this though.
The controls are not great and making a plane sucks.
One of the most underrated sandbox game of all time.
Play it NOW!!!
I have a ton of airplane games some building and some flying but this one stands out of the rest, Ok sure the controls are a bit odd, but you can fix that in settings. but it's still a great game. some other games (/KitHack Model club) I have are better but this one is quite fun to play but I do prefer some other games over this but it's still a great game! but please don't take my words for granted that,s just how I fell about the game you might not think it's as good as I say but still you don't know if you will like it without trying it for yourself.
I became a self proclaimed aircraft designer
Arguably just a fun game.
good and simple basegame almost dead community and advanced tech (boolean) and challenging game modes looking forward to the multiplayer capable sequel
buy to get a grip on the building mechanics
these planes are anything but simple. 10/10
Pretty good
I really like this game, it is super entertaining! :steamhappy:
me like
It is a really fun game and has real physics i recommed a controler.
10/10, I have many hours logged on mobile, I think the soundtrack is royalty-free, but it's an absolute banger (also used by Cody's Lab), I have great vibes from playing this on road trips when I was little, and it's awesome to have it again with better graphics on desktop!
good game
good game in terms of creativity but controls SUUUUCKKK. that alone was a dealbreaker
