Fun game, some of the tracks are wildly frustrating though as well as having some real dickish "out of bounds" spots. Special shout-out to The Edge, the most frustrating race track I've ever encoutered in a racing game. Rainbow Road's got nothing on this game's sadism. I'd stick to single player over the campaign for sure, although unfortunately there's stuff to unlock in the campaign.
hell yeah
when i was kid i played RollCage2 and when i saw this game......... just i can tell if you are Fan of rollcage you guys ganna LOVE this.
Game starts as a fun profound combat racer and becomes a borderline gambling simulator real quick as you progress through the career, there are some RNG aspects you can handle with your skill but this game can be extremely frustrating in an unfair way without expecting many, MANY Jesus take the wheel moments during the gameplay. If there's a "neutral" review option this gotta directly get in that zone but with how often this goes on big sale eh it def worth 3 bucks
I used to play rollcage when I was a kid.
This is the only reason I bought this.
Must have for VR.
Fantastic vehicular combat racing game with a fair share of game modes to choose from with an excellent sense of speed. Absolutely worth checking out when it's on sale. Multiplayer is unfortunately quite dead.
I talk about this game a lot, the experience I have had playing the game and showing it to friends is better than plenty of drugs I have tried. I love this game and still play it often well over a year after I have first played it!
TL;DR:
GRIP tries to deliver fast-paced combat racing but stumbles with broken physics, inconsistent difficulty, and a poorly designed power-up system that ultimately detracts from the experience.

Review:
GRIP: Combat Racing sets itself up as a thrilling, chaotic combat racer with 11 campaign tiers, each with escalating challenges. A few standout moments, such as the dynamic satellite obstacle on Signal Static bring a sense of excitement, and some tracks—like SAAT Coast—feature genuinely impressive environmental design. However, these brief highlights are overshadowed by the game's mechanical issues.
The deeper you go into the campaign, the more the gameplay falls apart. By tier six, the difficulty curve becomes unpredictable, with "easy" races sometimes feeling disproportionately hard and "hard" races occasionally feeling simple. The real problem is the game's unreliable physics, which makes controlling your vehicle feel inconsistent. For instance, in Signal Static, there’s a section where you must drive up onto a roof. Falling off always results in a reset, but the game respawns you in a position that doesn’t give you enough momentum to recover and drive back up. This forces you to restart the entire race.
The power-up system compounds the issue. Like any combat racing game, there are power-ups scattered throughout the track, but the game mishandles their distribution and design. You can pick up any item at any point in the race, regardless of whether you’re in first or last place. This randomness, combined with the fact that you can’t see which power-up you’re about to collect (unlike in Blur, where power-ups are clearly visible), leads to frustrating moments where you might pick up something completely useless when you need it most. This system takes two incompatible elements from Blur and Mario Kart—getting any item regardless of your standing in the race and an inability to see the pickups—without incorporating the complementary systems that make them work in their original games. In Blur, visibility of power-ups allows for strategic planning, while Mario Kart balances item randomness by giving you better items if you’re further behind. GRIP tries but misses the mark by failing to create the necessary balance.
Track design is another area where the game struggles. Maps like Atlas Station beckon you toward power-ups but penalize you with out-of-bounds resets for attempting to collect them, and invisible walls on many tracks, such as Acrophobia, inconsistently block areas of the map, leading to moments where you unexpectedly fly off the course. These design flaws make the racing feel chaotic, but not in the fun, unpredictable way you might expect from a combat racer. Instead, it feels like you’re fighting the game’s design more than your opponents.
The soundtrack, consisting mostly of repetitive drum and bass tracks, wears thin quickly. While the music fits the game's tone, hearing the same style of track over and over makes it tedious. Console players have no option to change the soundtrack, which only exacerbates this issue. While the game does allow custom music on PC, this doesn’t excuse the lack of variety and depth in the original soundtrack. The music should enhance the experience, not make you wish you could turn it off.
Ultimately, GRIP feels like a game that’s trying to be something it’s not. While it boasts a few impressive visual environments, the mechanical issues and frustrating power-up system hold it back from being an enjoyable experience.

Recommendation:
With its inconsistent mechanics, unbalanced power-up system, and frustrating track designs, I can’t recommend GRIP—even to fans of combat racers.
This game has one of the worst vehicle physics I have experienced in a racing game. It destroys the whole experience and it's sad to see because it had potential. The vehicles are unique and cool. And the tracks are nice. I tortured myself to play it to complete achievements. I Didn't have fun because of the handling. The vehicles go too fast in my opinion to even have time to react to the environment. There are so many routes and narrow tunnels to take on the track. How the vehicles react to walls is not good. Because you go too fast you often drive into walls and you think they will catch you but the vehicle continues to drive on walls and throw you into the air which forces you to reset and you get passed by everyone. The AI is also so frustrating they constantly shoot at you which make the vehicle fly all over the place and you need to reset it. They are also way too good to keep up with. It's so frustrating to play. It's just luck if you win.
underrated af game, who wants to start a big advertising campaign for this game?
fun

Pretty good rollcage inspired game
Frustrating game based on pure luck, that I really hate.
Also it has 15 trading cards.
I haven't played this for long. Just a few races. It seems like a really fun game with an interesting twist on racing. Grab this when it is on sale.
I Absolutely Love This Game!
The feeling of approaching the sound barrier while targeting your opponents with missiles and maneuvering through the versatile maps is incredible! Not everyone will like this game, but those who do will love it. I really enjoy the style of the vehicles, the tracks, the music, and the realistic game physics!
I discovered this game thanks to Joseppi's video, and it immediately caught my attention. I used to play Asphalt 8 a lot on my phone when I was younger, and I had been searching for a game with futuristic, extreme track designs and gameplay. The adrenaline-pumping visuals and action in Asphalt 8 hooked me, but GRIP is even more extreme and fast-paced—and that’s amazing!
Trash! - 3/10
The online and multiplayer doesn't work
Love this game, more tracks please
They really didn't think through the physics of this game very well. Your car will often adhere to little half-walls where it makes no sense and not allow you to get back onto the track unless you slow to a near stop or reset. As cool as this game looks, there's a reason you've never heard of it or its parent company. Quality control is severely lacking.
Great racing game! Multiplayer lobbies must be enabled using alterative launch, but once done playing online is fantastic.
This game is so, so very close to being exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. The vehicles are extremely fast, the sound effects are great, the powerups are fun & interesting, the track designs are fantastic - I really like the wide-open plains with multiple branching paths to take, and the whole gimmick of being able to drive either right-side up or upside down along the walls/ceilings contributes a ton to the chaos that goes on during races.
It even allows you add your own custom music to play during races, and I give huge props to any game that has such a feature.
But I've been flip-flopping back & forth constantly as I played when deciding if I'd recommend this game or not, and ultimately, there are two specific things that go hand-in-hand which are preventing me from leaving a recommended review, that being the absolute janky physics coupled with the lack of any (useful) air-control.
Everything feels like it's made of rubber. If you so much as sneeze too close to a wall, drive over a tiny bump, or land slightly weirdly after a fall, you'll bounce and get sent flying into an uncontrollable spin. And when you do get knocked into the air, it feels like there's too little gravity to pull you back down - you have to wait what feels like 6-10 business days before you land (or occasionally, nudging something will just stop all of your velocity instantly).
The whole time you're in the air, you can't do much of anything. You can only control your roll orientation, but that's not very useful in a game where you can drive right-side up or upside down.
There's even a tooltip in the loading screens that mention how you can still accelerate while airborne since the vehicles have jet engines strapped to them, but it doesn't seem to do anything to help correct your velocity if you're flying off in one direction while thrusting in the opposite direction - you'll still maintain your original velocity.
There's just been too many times where I'm driving normally, but whoops, I ran over a pebble and now I'm flying, then I land weirdly from flying and continue to get knocked around every surface until I inevitably either fall off the track or end up facing backwards, all the while I couldn't control anything about where I was going & could've grabbed a snack while I waited before I regained control.
And then there's handbrake-turning. Drifting is technically possible in this game, but the handbrake is so very sensitive that you need to hold the button for the perfect duration to pull it off.
I tap the button, and I don't turn at all. I hold the button for just a tiny bit, and I still don't turn much. I hold the button for just an extra tiny bit longer and now I've completely spun-out & lost all velocity. I can't make sense of it, and I eventually stopped using the handbrake altogether in favor of just simply slowing down to make sharp turns.
Lastly, I want to mention the "Airblade" variant of vehicles - which are simply alternate hovercraft versions of vehicles. There's basically no reason to ever use them as they all have dramatically lower braking stats than their "Classic" counterparts and offer no other benefit. These things are abysmal at trying to make any sharp turns - if I thought handbrake-turning was bad already, it's a lost cause with these vehicles.
It could've been neat if "Airblade" vehicles at least had better air-control, which would be a very compelling reason to pick them despite the worse braking stats, but they have just as little control in the air as their "Classic" counterparts. All they really have going for them is that they look cool because, hey, hovercrafts just look cool.
Overall, this game is very fun - when I'm not fighting against the physics. But unfortunately, it just feels like I'm spending more time fighting the physics than actually racing opponents.
I completed the game's campaign, and I think that's about enough for me. I did also take a brief look at the extra "Carkour" courses, but I nope'd out of them pretty quickly since they're all about dealing with the janky physics.
If there's ever a sequel to this game that has less janky physics, I'd still buy it.
TLDR: The best. You're welcome ^^
2.99? are u kidding. buy this so we can blow each other up!
It's pretty fun, but it crashes a lot.
really fun high-energy racing game with DnB music that matched perfectly to raise my heart rate every time nearly had an attack many times would complete again
Cant play online
You'll never catch me krabs, not when I shift into MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE.
Amazing game! fun and addicting
Just change that from full controller support to almost no controller support and you correct. Never play because it lies on the steam page. Doesn't work with anything but programmed xbox shit!
This game is like a reboot of a PS1 game called Roll Cage II, but the PS1 version is much better.
- This version lacks basic UI elements to compare different cars with each other.
- The physics of the game is not consistent, doing the same thing does not guarantee the same result so there is always the possibility of losing a race without making an actual mistake.
-The airblade version of the cars is practically meaningless, they should have stuck to the classic versions.
While it's a chip game, it's really not worth it.
This is a really great sci-fi arcade racer. I've spent a lot of time playing F-Zero and this feels really similar while still having it's own unique style and mechanics. The multiplayer also works well and is very fun with friends. VR is great, although it may be a bit disorienting unless you've used VR a lot. The soundtrack is excellent too, which adds a lot to a game like this. Overall, I really like this game and it helps fill the gap left by the F-Zero series.
I Liked
