FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage Collector's Edition

Flatout, Burnout & Stuntman used to be my favorite games back then, games like these never get old

Its the prequel to Wreckfest and you can tell right away. And thats a good thing, game is awesome arcade-y racing fun.

The game is a significant upgrade to the hit game FlatOut 2.
Beside the already existing trophies in the Flatout mode, you now can play extra challenges in the new arnage mode.
Some cars previously available through the Flatout mode now are behind the arnage mode missions (f.e. Road King, Insetta), however new cars like the Grinder have been added too.
Cars available through cheat codes can be unlocked after reaching gold in arnage missions featuring them.

The physics have been overall improved and driving feels a lot smoother compared to the original.
Textures have been improved as well, however the HUD is still in the old resolution.
This can be fixed with the new workshop implementation.

The only real negative about the game I can tell is the OST.
The original had a much greater selection that also felt more appropriate, but people have already uploaded workshop mods adding the original OST and more custom songs to the game, so the issue is easily solved.

Definitely one of the best racing games out there, being a solid rival/competitor to the beloved Burnout series.

Now that it has achievements, Flatout Ultimate Carnage, is a much better replacement of the newer Bugbear game Wreckfest. Not as good as Flatout 2 but it's up there. I recommend this game, especially over Wreckfest

I never thought that being involved in a likely-fatal multiple-car traffic accident could be so much fun!

Definitely a better game to pick up (especially for such a cheap price it goes for) than most of modern racing titles. (Somehow) still receives updates and love from other devs that took over this game.

This is not only the best game out of the series but the best destruction derby racing game of all time! and with low specs requirements makes this even better considering this game looks more like a 2012 game than 2007!

Probably the most fun racing game on Steam, it holds up remarkably well despite being 15 years old

It's basically Flat Out 2 with improved graphics. Same maps, cars, stunts. It does add a few new features, which you may like. I personally prefer the original FlatOut 2, but don't get me wrong it's amazing game.

fantastic game i still play it in 2024, maxed out on PC still holds up to day, i love modifiey the cars so they go faster and handle better also love the physics and handling is super cool, would be mint as an arcade cabinet this game with force feedback wheel and pedals!

Game starts off slow but when you get faster cars and more upgrades you get sunken in by the pure chaos that happens on the road. Install the mod for more soundtracks and enjoy your time.
P.S stunts are still BS :^)

The combination of racing and scoring points for smashing into the other cars is grand!
This then gives you currency to level up your car or buy another.
Same sort of fun I used to have playing Road Rash.
Cars feel great with an Xbox controller.
It's a proper old skool game type, but still looks quite modern and great at 1440p.
Get it!

Simply a nice "remaster" with more content compared to the sequel. Love the fact that this game now includes Steam Workshop.

Asphalt Legends had better Ai & soundtrack than this 5/10

The absolute peak of combat racing games genre. Pure chaotic fun and frustration both at the same time.

P.S. Getting gold on stone skipping stunt was hard as fuck!

Flatout 2 was the best already and this game is basically Flatout 2.2.
More opponents (11 compare to 7), additional mods, slightly upgraded graphics, new soundtrack, some very minor balance changes.
Outside of this- nothing change since original game. However, nothing was broken and there are even more opportunities to make chaos so I call it an upgrade.
Also you have mods support in steam now!

It's a good destruction derby racer with a TON of content from straight up racing to challenges involving sports launching your driver.

There is some jank and frustration though, a rogue garbage bag or box could spin your car but still fun.

Now 12 Racers:

I consider it a downside that the derby mode has been changed. Cars now break down faster, making it easier to eliminate opponents. Veteran players of the series might find that the game offers less of a challenge.

Physics Have Changed:
In «FlatOut: UC», cars literally fly off every piece of debris. This can often be annoying when you're trying to take the lead.

Conclusion:
«FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage» - is a decent remaster of «FlatOut 2» that adds new modes and improved graphics. Despite some simplifications, the game remains enjoyable and is suitable for both newcomers and experienced players.

Ultimate Carnage is basically the same game as Flatout 2. Same maps, cars, stunts. It does add a few new features such as 12 player races, Steam achievements and it definitely feels more explosive. But this cost of this explosiveness is a noticeable change with the car handling which i find much worse. Let's just say it's worse for racing, but better for ramming. Probably the best way to describe it is racing in an ice skating rink on the moon, but you can hit an orange cone just right and your car will all of a sudden end up doing cartwheels down the track. Plain dumb fun.

Alright, listen up, you beautiful disaster of a gamer! FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage Collector's Edition is like strapping a rocket to a dumpster and watching it crash into a fireworks factory—chaos, carnage, and a whole lotta "BOOM!" If you like driving faster than I can regenerate and smashing into things like a bull in a china shop, then this game is your new best friend.

But let’s not forget, kids, you’ll need a machine beefier than Colossus and a video card sharper than your girlfriend's fingernails to make this bad boy shine. Trust me, you don’t want to play this game on a potato.

Now, let’s talk about the music. Look, I’m all for loud, obnoxious noise that makes you want to punch through walls, but the hardcore rap in this game? Meh, not my cup of chimichanga sauce. Where’s the love for us GenZ or Millenials folks who appreciate a good driving anthem? I’m talking classic rock, some 80s jams—heck, even a little power ballad action!

Anyway, aside from the soundtrack that’s a little too "yo, yo, yo," this game is a blast. So, slap on your seatbelt, crank up your own playlist, and get ready to wreck everything in sight. Have fun, kiddos!

Certified childhood classic.

If you've only played the first FlatOut, the ones that came after this or none of the games in the series, you might love this.
For me this however was the worst FlatOut made by Bugbear.

I started playing this right after finishing FlatOut 2 100%, and this is one of the most rage inducing games I've played and I couldn't finish it. I got gold on all the FlatOut mode cups, and stopped after that.
FlatOut 2 had annoying AI towards the end of the game, however this starts with annoying AI that just tries to destroy you, then it goes away and finally when the game starts to get fun after getting to Street Class, the omnipotent AI comes back. You absolutely have to buy cars that you don't want to drive to actually be able to get gold on the cups, and still the AI somehow seems to drive perfectly until you get the first place and get a few seconds difference to 2nd place. After that you're racing alone.
Some of the races in some of the cups even seemed slightly scripted to give you "challenge" by not letting you take the first place no matter what, and I noticed that the same drivers kept hitting walls and debris at the exact same spots no matter what.

Bugbear also reduced the speed of the cars (making the game more boring after FlatOut 2), increased the mass of objects and cars (making your car more easily flip out by hitting a cone or something similarly small and lightweight) and also seems like they changed some of the physics as well.

Basically for me it seems like Bugbear thought "How could we make our almost perfect game much worse?", and then did it. Sure the graphics are better and the tracks are more refined, but the overall experience is way worse. Also the soundtrack sucks but you can change that with mods.
