I listen to the soundtrack more than I play the game.
Imagine Hotline Miami, but lateral, but supernatural, with the same level of great music, mix it all together, sprinkle some more great original ideas, and you get DEADBOLT, its only shin is how short it feels.
This is AMAZINGLY well designed and fun, already one of my favorites.
Love Hopoo.
it's like if dark souls and hotline miami had a child
Incredible game. You can choose between stealth or violence and have fun in both. Challenging but charming 2D game with a cool story and character control, amazing soundtrack and art, DEADBOLT is a must have for every decent gamer.
Fast paced, requires improvisation, meticulous planning and often near perfect execution. The soundtrack is also an absolute banger.
REAPER/10 it's my kinda game
I recommend Deadbolt. Fun 2D stealth game. Can be hard and has a high degree of resource management. But nothing beats the first time you emerge in smoke form from the toilet while a zombie is using it.
Like Katana Zero, but with gun. I like Katana Zero. I like gun. Good combo.
Very fun and atmospheric little game
Now i have become death, the destroyer of punks.
such an awesome game. I'm recommending it despite me constantly getting my ass kicked by zombies. (I am not good at bideo-games)
2D side-scrolling puzzle shooter with solid level variety that favors planning over reaction time. Awesome style to go along with the mechanics offered.
Great little stealth game, it reminds me of gunpoint but with more supernatural abilities. It can get difficult in some areas and really plays into the puzzle aspects of the stealth genre, but it is an incredibly fun and rewarding game.
sexy candle gf and black cat need i say more
Dies
Locks in
Dies again
Rage quits
Amazing game tbh but will take a while to finish...
this game made me wanna break everything in my room but it ok because its fun
I can't believe I haven't written a review for one of my favorite games of all time
yes king
pretty good
Bad controls, bad ai, inconsistency with everything, this is just a bad game. Maybe if there were more mechanics for the player to strategize with, it might be good, but as it stands, this game is just painful and dull.
A great game leaves you wanting more even at the end, and this is a great game.
This thing oozes style and has a damn fun gameplay loop. Great game!!!
This game really brings me back to the good old days
10 shots of a smg to kill an undead and i killed with one shot?
its definitely difficult and sometimes annoyingly so, but its also incredibly fun and requires a fair bit of genuine planning and thought. The final boss also has pretty unique motives for a character in his position. I expected a much more simple and straight-forward character motive from Ibzan, but you should really just see it for yourself.
One great game that doesn't requite that much time to be finished but it has a lot to offer, the OST being one of the best things.
Amazing, Good, Immaculate, Superb, Astonishing, Incredible, Perfect, Exquisite, Outstanding, Pristine. Would recommend.
A chefs kiss of a game 10/10
fantasy hotline miami with a soundtrack thats just as good if not better
Very fun game
I liked playing the puzzles, and i liked that i can both cheese and brute force them.
It matched and went over the 1 dollar 1 hour for me, as i bought it for 3 bucks.
I dont wanna spoil much so just buy if you would love to play as a glass cannon in a puzzle game.
hotline miami, but side scroller
literally the peak of gaming
Wtf this is peak why did no one tell me
EASILY one of the best OSTs the gaming industry has ever heard
this game is like a burger, if burgers were made of
- great challenging gameplay
- great story
- great mood/vibes
- amazing music
a quality hopoo game <3
The best game I suck at
Even if you never play this game listen to the soundtrack on spotify PLEASE
DEADBOLT is a thoroughly unfun and unenjoyable game, but not unfair. However, blatantly hostile gameplay design coupled with poor AI makes this game screams a design philosophy of "Difficult for the sake of being difficult." As someone who 100%'d Hotline Miami, a game this game is very frequently compared to, I do not and will never recommend this game.
It starts out as a tight, slick stealth game that tests reflexes in small contained levels. You need to kill all the enemies in the level, you have limited ammo but unlimited melee attacks. You are lethal with weapons, but you die in a single hit. You are not fast, you cannot dodge attacks and the further you are from a target the less accurate you are. This works well in the early game when levels are small. The issue comes as you progress into later levels, ones that are MUCH larger.
If you played Hotline Miami, Ghostrunner, or any other good high skill instadeath game then you'll know how important checkpoints are. To prevent frustration and tedium, you are given a respawn point after you did all that high skill play. Often higher difficulty levels or optional challenges impose rules that nullify checkpoints, but they still exist. DEADBOLT doesn't like that idea and says "do it in one life or go fuck yourself." You can't make manual saves either. So if you spend 5-6 minutes trying to perfectly manipulate the AI, maneuver across unnecessarily large levels and slip up at the very last moment, then you have to do every single step over again.
Speaking of enemy AI, it's awful. If an enemy spots you it does two things. First, it throws away any and all prior pathing it had. Second, it guards wherever it loses you. Does an enemy normally patrol this area before a door? Well if it spots you, not anymore. It will chase you until it loses you, then walk back and forth on that exact same spot until you either kill them or lose the level. This can make a level literally impossible to beat, forcing you to restart it. Again, it's not unfair. You might've used up too much ammo earlier and couldn't kill this enemy, hence why you ran and they are now blocking a path. Or, maybe you could've knocked on a door, lured it further away and then used a vent to bypass it. But the fact is that the enemy AI is so simple and so lacking in safeguards that it makes being spotted so much more frustrating. It's anti-fun game design.
Progression is also easily messed up by players. You finish a level, you get souls. Souls buy you weapons that you can enter levels with. Did you buy a handgun instead of saving up for the silenced shotgun? Welp, too bad, now this level is 99% more difficult because you don't have the right tool for the job. It's not impossible to beat now, but being punished because I didn't correctly guess which weapon I needed to save up for and buy is never a good feeling. Also, the other form of "progression" is just randomly dropped collectibles in the form of cassette tapes. So if you were hoping to have movement ability progression or stealth upgrades or anything like that, this game doesn't have any of that.
Also, the visual design here is not good. I know this is a personal opinion so feel free to skip this paragraph, but I still want to say it. The dynamic gore system advertised in the description is underwhelming. Massive portions of the screen are often unused and look flat. Animations are wonky and poorly made. I just cannot fathom who thought this visual design philosophy was a good idea. It's plain bad.
Overall, I stand by my original statement. DEADBOLT is unfun, unenjoyable, but not unfair. That does not however make it worth recommending. If you want high difficulty, fast paced action go play Hotline Miami. If you want a real 2D stealth game, go play Gunpoint. This ain't it chief.
-_-
Awesome
I like this game. I hope they eventually make a 2nd one with more weapons, and also why do I need to play this game like a speedrunner in order to unlock everything!
Lot of fun if you like instant-death side scrollers.
Its peak
В дверь постучали 1000 раз.
– 100 осьминогов и 5 сороконожек,– догадался Ибцан.
– Хаха! Не все решения,– догадались линейные диофантовы уравнения.
this game is still amazing even all these years later and with workshop it keeps on shining
Very satisfying gameplay and level design. The brutality of the action and the puzzle/action are reminding me of Hotline Miami. It's a different genre, but if that kind of accurate, twitch gameplay is up your alley, you'll likely love this one too.
knockknock
Absolute banger.
pew pew pew
The brainrot never stops.
