Great soundtrack as always from Chris, I liked the whole Ibzan story that you need to be paying attention to since most of it is relegated to his tape and the notes you find in some levels, the candle seems to be some sort of diety, but is not above making mistakes and learning from them which is why it's being so nice and hospitable to the reaper we play as, to make sure that another Ibzan situation doesn't happen. not gonna spoil any more since the game is already light on story.
Now for the ugly part; the game plays very clunky, enemy ai can get stuck when they see a corpse and end up ruining your run since they get stuck in a small patrol pattern usually by the exit, the random bullet spread is annoying and adds nothing, there were so many times that i had 99% of my crosshair pinned on an enemies head a few feet away just for the bullet to graze their scalp and miss since our short king always needs to aim upwards and has the worst aim imaginable making the game feel like a resource manager especially since most enemies don't drop their weapons, forcing you to always go for headshots since enemies are bullet sponges, especially those damn bats that take shotguns to the face much better than Kurt ever did. Enemies have unlimited ammo and most weapons one shot you, so going in guns blazing is never a good idea unless you really like looking at your car, speaking about your car, why does the damn thing blast its highbeams once you complete your main objective, it makes some of the reinforcements a PITA since it'll expose the first floors almost completely relegating you to cheesing the stairs or baiting the enemies to the 2nd floor. The cover mechanic is weird, the only place I've ever needed to use it was for the twins fight against the dual pistols vampire, on normal enemies they just stand in place and keep shooting, so if you're out of ammo or only have melee weapons you're SOL if you do that.
The only stealth you have is the element of surprise being headshots, knock knocks and just blasting them from beyond their sightlines, enemies turn lights back on and shooting them is not always practical. The weapon sound range is terrible too, some enemies ignore the 32. going off right next to them but can hear a guy getting his skull hammered in two floors up. As for the action part, yeah there's some, but you're not gonna be in middle of it with your pitiful 1 shot body. I hate when game devs claim their games are difficult when in reality they're just made to be tedious, kinda like how in civ 5 the ai doesn't get better past a certain difficulty, the're just given bonuses to tech, starting units and other things.
Overall the game is fantastic for 1st blind playthrough, but terrible for repeat plays and completionists.
An extremely creative and engaging game that have given me hours and hours of fun on the GoG version, and even on a third playthrough, years after it holds up so well.
Creative urban fantasy setting with gangster zombies, drug dealing vampires that chill on ceilings and a pulpy investigation that leads to escalating threats.
Stylish. Crisp. Cool.

very chill and fun game for a reasonable price
can definitely recommend for someone who enjoys a bit of a challenge too
the only issue i have with this is the length compared to the price
I couldn't get past the tinkerer because my computer ran out of memory when all the bombs dropped, kinda sad about that. Great game so far though.
hitman
In the gnag hideout, straight up "deading it". And by "it", haha, well. let's justr say. My bolt
Is nice. Stealth/Action, satisfying difficulty, and ABSOLUTELY no unfair features. (that is not a joke).
I enjoy this game, but it crashes a little too much
Awesome 2d shooter, it plays like a puzzle
sneaky
Good
I shot a guy in this game. Their blood is on my hands. Morals be damned with all the other undead.
such the awesome game. so so satisfying. really fun to try and 100% also the speed running was fun as well. love the personality of this game and literally my favorite sound track in gaming
8/10. I found this game through the Composer's Spotify page, and damn am I glad I did. Its challenging, both in your strategy and execution (pun-intended). This is not a game you should expect to clear with high-level of success first time. The atmosphere is incredible, the levels and enemies are unique, varied and engaging, The progression of both difficulty and complexity is well handled. And Chris Christodoulou's (Risk of Rain 1/2) funky soundtrack is immaculate.
The story is simple yet bears some poetic lines and artistic flair. I've always loved depictions of Death as not evil, but rather a keeper of balance. This is most definitely a gameplay first kind of game, but the set dressing while lacking depth is not lacking style.
Where it falls short is few and far between, but the shortcomings do exist: Enemies sometimes seem to skip their standard reaction time and just insta-blast you. Some levels are so long and without checkpoint that you can spend 10mins learning the first sequence only to die instantly in the second to something you were simply unaware of and be forced to redo the whole level. The sniper level is full of bullshit with that laser, but still manageable once you understand how it ACTUALLY works. And some of the controls are a bit annoying to get used to. Despite this paragraph of gripes, I very much enjoyed DEADBOLT.
Also, do not expect a special interaction with the final boss at his end, he will draw and kill you. Just shoot him from afar and save the headache.
critically slept on ost it is unreasonably fire
includes a fun game too
Pure awesomeness.
CLAP
Fun concept but the contextual buttons are trash, it never goes into a vent/opens a door/picks up an item when I want. Much of the level design is boring and lacks creativity. Final boss is underwhelming and ultimately annoying. Doesn't hold a candle to anything else Hopoo has made.
Very fun, great music and nice graphics
The concept alone is just super cool. Whose a better hitman than death? Nobody. It's a very strong stealth game that keeps things engaging with a steady drip of new enemies, weapons and some cool mechanics. The soundtrack is peak, not surprising coming from a Hopoo title. Check this one out, it's awesome.
what the fuck is this game even about holy shit poopy shitty poop slop game pixels omg so fun yess like its doggy doo doo dog shit the fuck?
top
Man I'm Dead...Bolt...
I'm so sorry...
Good stealth combat puzzles, defiantly more focused on action combat and stealth is more the setup puzzle which feels great. Lots of on theme elements as you kill the undead like needing to find/kill an urn to kill some vampires and with just enough visual hinting to guide the player on that.
very fun!
uhmmm vool dskelly ton auhhhhhh yand it shoots and like uhmmm they diee and its uhh fun yeah
I see the DEAD but where is the BOLT?
Duncan and the Hoopoo Games family rocks, after Risk of Rain (or before ?). This is a gem !
Do this in real life if you go and live in Detroit, drugs included, dogs not included (the police already took care of that for you)
57 hours of my life gone forever
.
DEADBOLT got that aura...
This game is very good and so stylish I get spontaneus bleeding cuts in my eyeballs when I play it.
You also can groove steel sheets with your speakers by playing the soundtrack through them.
Great stealth, great combat, amazing story, phenomenal soundtrack...Man, just play it.
Simple yet challenging game with an incredible soundtrack.
Good
become a cloud of mist and explode someones ass
This game is extremely underrated, and this pisses me off. Seriously, one of the greatest concepts for a game that I've seen so far. A simple, enjoyable, and somewhat innovative gameplay with the introduction of cool mechanics. The graphics are nice, and the soundtrack is an absolute banger. I don't know how this game can be such a hidden gem, despite being a very cool concept in this era of extremely oversaturated garbage that some call "videogames" we have nowadays.
Give this game a try; you will not regret it.
please make deadbolt 2
Challenging but enjoyable because it feels fair. I like this perspective more than the top-down variety of similar games.
Plus, you can be a Toilet Terminator so
surprisingly difficult motivated to beat it though
Solid but pretty basic
good game :3
Great Game
Excellent, lightweight, 2D modern assassin game
game
Amazing 2D side shooter game with decent depth in the plot. Has some subtle hints to the background of the missions and just who our main character is, enough to keep you interested besides the gameplay.
The gunplay and level layouts are interesting and dynamic, giving you different ways to approach targets or objectives in a Hitman/Dishonored style way. Go loud or be quiet and pick your entries carefully. You can complete the main story within 20 hours if you take your time throughout the levels and replay them with a different approach after (hence what I did with most of my hours).
You have many different weapon loadouts to pick from, a number of primaries and secondaries. Which are all equally satisfying to use - getting headshots is another thing that takes that spot, with your enemies heads literally popping off.
Sucks just play Hotline Miami!
Like a 2D side scroll Hotline Miami for better or worse. I felt many levels are more Puzzel-ish in execution. You’re a Repear of souls here to clean up the evil dead streets via talking to your fireplace instead of a phone and buying weapons from Charon the ferryman. There’s actually a hierarchy here. Zombies are gang banger urban youth of the underworld hood. Vampires are posh and run nightlife vice with clubs and brothels. Skeletons are likes old world hardcore organized crime. Demons…are actually just demons, but they have access to military grade hardware so let’s go with a paramilitary organization. It’s difficult like Hotline Miami (one hit and you’re dead).
