Just finished getting all achievements. Now that I have a PC, I'm enjoying games that i used to play on Xbox.

What if the Nazi war machine had prevailed in WWII? We explore a version of this alternate history in Wolfenstein: The New Order, a reboot of the iconic Wolfenstein franchise. We take on the role of BJ Blazkowicz, a soldier who has been in a coma for many years and awakens to find that the world has sunken into an oppressive and dystopian state. He embarks on a journey to resist this regime and meets several companions along the way. The character development is deep and meaningful, and Blazkowicz' character becomes more fleshed out and humanized as a result. The narrative is captivating and grim for the most part and also fantastical in terms of the locations we visit. It has balanced pacing with plenty of over the top action sequences. It explores themes of resistance, humanity, tyranny, amongst others. The gunplay is fast and responsive, with a large number of weapons, many of which can be dual-wielded. We can also approach missions with stealth tactics as we attempt to reach our objectives. The Nazi's have developed all sorts of advanced weaponry, including mechanized soldiers and dogs that can really ramp up the challenge. Visually the game has a gritty and realistic art style. The graphics are still impressive despite their age. The environments and character models are well detailed, and the use of lighting and shadows is very effective. New Order does a lot of things right and despite now being over 10 years old, ushered in a new era for the series, bringing Wolfenstein back to the forefront of the FPS genre.

Reminded me of the first time I played dishonored. A little linear in some regards, but great game.

I really fun shooter that takes place in a universe where the good guys won WW2.
You play as a terrorist causing chaos in a perfect world where you come across some zany characters, like Set Roth, a member of a secret jewish global order that operates in the shadows behind the scenes (a bit on the nose for my tastes but it's all good fun).
I love a good anti hero story and the gameplay is smooth yet packs a helluva punch, some of the best FPS action I've experienced.
Definitely recommend checking this one out.

THIS GAME IS AWESOME.

Awesome game, good start to the series. Stealth feels good. You hardly, if at all, feel like there is TOO many enemies or they're all too armored.

100% can say you can just play this then the second game, the prequel game "The Old Blood" is not worth it and will raise more questions about what in the world is going on then the game that's supposed to take place after it will answer. You'll run into things that aren't mentioned again and the game play is mediocre at best.

this game is incredibly fun, i never liked first person shooters until i played this and doom, it doesnt matter, even if you dont like first person shooters this game is a masterpiece

Great game! Forgot to review earlier. It says I have 46 minutes, but that's because Steam doesn't count offline hours, and I have completed the game. At the time I had no access to internet unless it was by hotspot, and I didn't have enough data to keep it running the whole time.

So great if you like good music by Mick Gordon, fun gameplay, an over-the-top action movie story, and it's fully functional offline.

The New Order (TNO) is a solid first entry in the new Wolfenstein saga with good gunplay and decent story. The only advice I'd give is to know that you're going to have to suspend your disbelief quite a bit through this particular game since its an insane action movie in game form, thereby operating on insane action movie logic. The plot is fun and bombastic, but its characters are shallow with barely perceptible story arcs.

The most invested I have gotten in a story, in characters. It's truly incredible.

I wish I could give this game a "mixed" rating. I don't find it good, nor bad. It's just about okay.

The core of the game is definitely not bad. The combat system is entertaining. Blasting nazis while dual-wielding auto shotguns is awesome. Huge problem is level design. All levels are very linear and mostly consist of narrow corridors interjected with rooms where enemies are. Sure the props change, but the feel remains exactly the same. Even when you go to the Moon. Pacing of the game is off, largely thanks to missions at the base where you just do fetch quests. Seriously, why is this in the game? I am also not a fan of crappy scripted events that are supposed to move the story forward. In terms of level design, pacing, enemy variaty and overall feel of the game, The New Order is completely outshined by the much older Return to Castle Wolfenstein and could learn a lot from it.

The stealth system is not great, not terrible. You don't get to do any cool takedowns like in Far Cry games, but coming up with a neat approach to an area and executing it without being detected can still be satisfying. The commander mechanic is an interesting spin on a more traditional alarm system. What definitely deserves criticism here is the brain-dead AI, which will literally walk over dead bodies of their comrades and not get alerted in any way.

The story is utterly terrible with more plot holes than plot itself, but I am willing to overlook that since Wolfenstein should be all about shooting, stabbing and blowing shit up - an old school action shooter. Really, just don't think about the story. Absolutely nothing in it makes sense when you decide to turn your brain on. So just don't.

The boss fights are, once again, nothing special and are just okay. Except the London Monitor, that one is just awful and too easy. It really needs a way to actually attack the player (inside the tunnels) - maybe release drones or something.

Another issue is how non-responsive the environment is. For instance, where are rescue services or some kind of reinforcements when you attack key nazi buildings and infrastructure. They have jets, helicopters and all kinds of crazy vehicles, yet noone ever shows up. You can stroll around and take forever even in what are supposed to be time critical missions. RtCW had paratroopers descending on your position at one point and time critical missions would actually fail if you took too long.

I've also encountered quite a few bugs. Nothing game breaking, but certainly annoying. Overall I wouldn't recommend this game unless it is on a big sale. Go play RtCW instead. It still holds up to this day if you don't care about graphics too much.

I just finished playing through the game, it's a very enjoyable single player experience. The story is obviously very dark given the subject matter, but there are some genuinely funny moments sprinkled throughout to help lighten the mood. The gun play is very fun as well, and does not try to shame you for not taking the stealth route, although it is usually an option if you'd like. Overall, definitely recommend. I'm looking forward to playing the next one.

Great game, recommend playing the trilogy for sure as that's what I'm working on now. Graphics are good, as expected from a title from 2014, combat is quick and easy to learn on steam deck. Not a giant struggle and you're able to change difficulty if it's to hard for you.

The perfect first part of a reboot. The gun play feels great, the story is ok but nothing more. An alternate past like Man in the High Castle has always been exciting to me, so it works without a strong story. 9.5/10

Fantastic game the most balanced hardest difficulty I have ever played. If you love shooters you're doing yourself a disservice not playing this one.

My only complaint is the weird almost gravity gun that cuts stuff it's a little janky.

Can't believe I slept on this for so long, hella gruesome at points where it made me gag a little but the gameplay and graphics is really great for a 10+ year old game.

Strengths:
Great level design.
Looks amazing. Facial animations, guns, the technology, everything.
Great enemy introduction and variety.
Great villains. Gives you reason to hate them other than them being Nazis.
Runs well.
Good campaign length.
Good story and world building. The smallest and the biggest set pieces are all amazing.
Great gunplay. Feels a lot like Half Life where you can tank a lot and you just wanna rip and tear through people.

Weaknesses:
Perk system feels bad. Requires a lot of grinding for certain perks but you don't really need them anyways.
Stealth system isn't great. Game is focused mostly on runnin' and gunnin'.
Certain enemies sometimes feel too tanky for how much you throw at em.
Collectibles system is terrible without using online guides.
Dual wielding feels unnecessary and janky.
Monologues by the protagonist sometimes feel way too edgy and overly serious.

Would recommend for full price but it's also often on sale for 5 USD as well.

so much sick action. at the start of the game youre already in a plane, jumping into others, shooting other planes down, shooting cannons at giant robots, killing nazis, etc. SO good

-pretty challenging on uber difficulty.
-liked the variety of enemies and weapons.
-liked how we get introduced to different characters and that we get to know their stories, liked the emotional part and the emphasis on humanity and how our guy Blazko always speaks his mind and the exploration of trauma.

Amazing game and story highly recommend

Amazing game, never been a fan of wolfestein but this game changed that. Perfect story, visuals, sound design, everything to the last detail is perfect.

Ok unlike the new colossus the game doesn't crash for no reason but sadly it's locked at 60 fps :/

Good gunplay and cover system, along with 7/10 story, however objectives are sometimes hard to follow, some enemies just take 10x hits for 0 reason, and a big issue is that the game sucks at telling you how to defeat said enemies, so you just have to throw whatever random bull**** you have, hoping that some kind of garbage works.

Another major issue, was the final bossfight. Im very calm right now, so dont think im just mad cuz i lost, but that was the worst godawful bossfight i have EVER seen, it ruined the mood, killed my fun, bored me to death, and was not unique in any way. the ONLY reason i even kept trying to BEAT the bossfight, was NOT because i was having fun, or wanted to progress the game, but because i would have been angry all night if i had given up and lost to this garbage piece of **** bossfight. I was really enjoying this game for a while, i liked the story between the main character and the girl, however, i just was so dissapointed in so many little things, plus the worlds worst bossfight buzzkill, that i rate this game 4/10.

I love the game and has a very great story the ending was great too

Albeit it the fact that its quite old, the game is still a lot of fun with an engaging storyline that quickly throws you into the action and gives you plenty of characters to care about. The ending is on a cliffhanger however we all know the fact there's a sequel so we know what happens. Regardless, the game is a lot of fun and the shooting mechanics are ahead of their time just a bit of a bad PC port with regards to the settings and options etc.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is an exciting shooter that successfully combines classic action-packed gameplay with modern storytelling.

As a shooter, the game is still a lot of fun, thanks to a wide variety of weapons and satisfying shooting mechanics. The levels often involve stealth, but due to the weak AI, they don’t provide much of a challenge, even on higher difficulty settings.

The soundtrack deserves special mention, as it perfectly complements the game’s atmosphere and, at times, even motivates more aggressive gameplay.

Also, the game is worth playing, if only for its story, which features excellent cutscene direction and a host of memorable characters. It’s a unique game, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys narrative-driven first-person shooters.

The main drawback is its technical obsolescence due to the engine. A 60 FPS cap and lack of antialiasing significantly detract from the gaming experience today.

Good game, good gameplay, good graphics for its age, good story, good everything!

Was listening to a Second Wind podcast, and Yahtzee mentioned that this game had no right having a story as good as it was. Went to go purchase the game, realised I already owned it. Played it start to finish on Steam Deck. Really good. Only negative is that it doesn't support Steam Cloud Saves, so you are limited to completing on one device.

Decent Game. Very cool concept for Germany winning but we all know who really won that war ;) 6/10

It's a pretty fun and badass game with some beautiful (even if dystopic) art designs, and a good mix of old vs new gameplay styles.

regardless, nice game to try. some levels might required you to turn on your brain before you shoot but if you are really good at conserving ammo, you are good to go!

Excellent shooter play with the id5 tweaker and it's a very fun ride.

fun story, fun mechanics, holds up to this day. (and you get to blow the heads of hundreds of nazis)

Wolfenstein the new Order amazing game play, graphics and story. A nice fun challenge with an amazing story and full of nazi killing action and unique creatures and bosses.

Perfect turn off brain fun, just purely running and gunning experience with some okayish story. Even if the graphics are tiny bit outdated, they dont fall too hard behind. Get on sale as this gets huge sales occasionally, but otherwise 7/10 for gameplay and 5/10 for story... train scene caught me off guard tho.

Guns have variety, upgrades and different use each but you can still use others for the same things. Sounds are amazing, however the music in backround for fights can be barely heard occasionally. Tho they do work during story parts.
Animations are simple but clear. Level design is PEAK.

The worse stuff?
Lack of enemy variety and little bit of repetetiveness, stealth is also bad point as the enemies are not so observant or straight up see you through walls so yeah. There is also 60fps lock but i doubt the devs even had idea back in 2014 that we will go further so i can somewhat pardon that.
Outside singular crash, and weird knife being stuck in arm bug that occasionally happens there isnt anything else.

The really bad stuff?
Some of the skills are just impossible to obtain without farming singular enemy and restarting, bit of bummers.
Also secrets and collectables, like please some of those would be impossible to find without constantly drooling over wiki or the hundreds of really bad guidelines.

Enjoyed the campaign very much I went down the Wyatt pathway. Story was good & I enjoyed the gameplay. 8/10

The idea behind the story is interesting, but the execution is poor. This game felt like a chore. It took me 10 hours to complete it but it honestly felt like much longer. The gameplay is too repetitive, most enemies are the same, the game is too linear, stealth is not fun because enemies are completely braindead and, as many other have said, you will spend half the time looking at the floor and pressing E looking for ammo and armor.

Decent game but don't bother

The game itself is fine but there are a ton of technical issues. Game is locked to 60 FPS, audio is extremely low even at max settings, nauseating head bob and screen shake that cannot be turned off, and worst of all the game hard crashes frequently requiring a full system restart and does not seem to play well with AMD hardware. I would love to play this game, if only it worked.
