Wolfenstein: The New Order

Forthwith will be my first ever game review, I figured I would try on a game I at least 100%’d and enjoyed.

Wolfenstein really took a theme (alternate history and weird tech) and made a hell of an immersive experience for an FPS.
Exploding, shooting and stabbin Nazis exceptionally well done, with the decent variety of weapons and locations.
I love the dual wielding makes you feel like a WW2 doom slayer.
The ability to lean around corners feels like it should be in every FPS.
I also love when a game is interspersed with secret areas and collectibles, I had a good time figuring out most of them.

What I feel is a massive, missed opportunity is why the protagonist Blaskowicz is so unkillable – as awesome as his badassness is I just think not moving for almost a decade would amount to muscle loss, not to mention other crazy injuries he sustains and then forgets about.
There was such an awesome potential story there, imagine this – BJ gets captured by Nazis and they experiment on captured POW’s for the Uber Soldier serum, most of the subjects die violent explosive deaths but for some reason BJ’s system takes to this serum and gets Captain America regen powers – which would be so much impactful story plot instead of him.... just being superhero for no reason. At least thats what I would have done, (Bethesda feel free to contact me)

Back to gameplay its more and more rare to get a simple shooter like this that goes for hard topics but doesn't take them too seriously, while constantly giving you more intense action set pieces to bash through.
The stealth elements I am mixed on. On one hand it is awesome to have the option to go in quiet but on the other hand the game really shines when you are spotted and must shoot your way out.

I think especially today you will get your monies worth if you are looking for an epic shoot out through alternate history.

A fun reboot for the Wolfenstein franchise. Better than the sequels and the prequel that came after. At its current price of $20, it's a good buy even for 2024.

This game presents a convincing argument that the best way to improve the world is to remove Nazis from it. I agree with this thesis.

It was short and mediocre (mostly bad) for the most part. I appreciate the straight forward approach, but not so much when it comes to the level design and the props. I feel like the developers could have done so much more with the maps that they had, but they chose not to. They recycled the same maps, environments, and the props over and over again, to a point where you won't be able to differentiate the first hour of the game to the last. The segment set on the moon in particular was incredible exciting which soon after turned jarring because of the reason mentioned above.

The story was awful, and the constant hunt for ammo, health packs, and the armor sucked even more. On the controller, it was even more awful, having to look down every other second to pick something up was very tedious (looking down is how I spent most of my time playing this game). Looking straight up didn't pop up the pick ammo/health prompt most of the time either.

On the weapon side of the things, they force you to use that plasma cutter from the very get go. After acquiring almost 20 upgrades (yes, mostly for that gun, while upgrades for other guns were far few and scarce or even non-existent) for it throughout the game, it sucked even more. The gameplay choices revolved around using your 20 times upgraded plasma gun to annihilate big robot enemies, cut through metal and armor all till the very end of the game (where 99% of the enemies were heavily armored), thus forcing you to use that stupid gun for the majority of the last half of the game.

On the bright side, the gunplay was good, and the fast paced nature of the combat didn't disappoint. If the game was any longer, it would have sucked, and I am very glad that it concluded when it did. The most exciting part for me, was the end, when the game ended.

Great continuation of the story ! A must buy and complete.

Do you love high quality games with good campaigns? Do you like feeling like a badass? Do you like blowing the faces off of Nazis? This is the game for you!

WOW. The quality of the writing, especially the dialogues and the characters, it's top notch, and the voice acting is close to perfection. I haven't been this impressed since Mass Effect 3.

Great game, lots of action, absorbing store, characters you can get behind and a shed load of enemies to kill. what more do you want from a game, right.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is a game that creates an interesting atmosphere. Each chapter is unique, making the game engaging. Some textures look old, but the visuals are still excellent.

The gameplay is exciting, with smooth combat that keeps players focused. The mix of shooting and simple stealth adds variety to encounters. To enable in-built anti-aliasing, open the console in-game (Ctrl + ~) and type: r_multisamples x (replace "x" with the value you want, like 2, 4, or 8).

In conclusion, Wolfenstein: The New Order provides a captivating experience. It is a notable shooter with a rich atmosphere and engaging gameplay.

One of the most satisfying gun-fighting I have experienced, ever changing unique mission locations, and fun combat scenarios made even better by the music being played.
The graphics have aged but not too extremely.

Highly recommendable as long as you are comfortable with some revolting/gory/sexual scenes and Nazis (duh)

Packed with action. Has a great story and fantastic artwork and designs.

I enjoy the universe where the plot is set and all the way the characters are behaving.

Absolutely awesome game from start to finish, absolutely destroys it's sequel.

Full on action and enjoyment while riding big robots, submarines or even going to space. Amazing!

- The game does not support monitors with high refresh rate. The maximum refresh rate is locked at 60 and cannot be unlocked without third-party tools.
- The game does not support ultra-wide monitors. The user interface is always misaligned, so I can't even see the game's hints.

Excellent game with good graphics and captivating narrative and atmosphere. The alternate history viewpoint is what interested me in buying this game. Well worth playing even in 2024.

It does what it says on the tin. The man from Del Monte, he say yes. That'll do Pig, That'll Do.

Game so linear it hurts. Most of your time playing will be spent looking around for needlessly hidden objectives, and when u are actually in combat most of the levels are just a battle of who can absorb the most bullets, with enemies so spongy it makes fallout 4 look like tarkov. the firefights mainly consist of you trying to shoot enemies really far away with your crappy ironsights or when the game finally gives u a scoped dmr and 10 (being generous) bullets the basic soldiers still take 2 headshots to kill.

Overall: Bad but could be fun if you're a masochist

Great game -- was looking for something to scratch the same itch as Doom and this was it.

Super fun game, enjoyed the graphics, story, voice acting, and overall the game.

About 7 hours in length if you know what you are doing (I didn't, took me 11 hours)

Definitely play this game, and Wolfenstein The New Colossus!

Total nazi annihilation. Kill nazis. Behead nazis. Roundhouse kick a nazi into the concrete. Crucify filthy nazis. Defecate in a nazi's food. Launch nazis into the sun. Toss nazis into active volcanos. Judo throw nazis into a woodchipper. Twist nazis' heads off. Report nazis to the resistence. Karate chop nazis in half.

It's a very atmospheric game, a great shooter, and a great story. The only downside is that 99% of the Nazis are drawn as stupid evil monsters, but that, I guess, is the Wolfenstein spirit and does not affect gameplay. I prefer a more balanced approach.

Absolute fun game, great shooting action, wide array of weapons and mods for them, and it also tugs at your heartstrings with a very well written and voice-acted story. There is also a good variety of biomes and settings, and also enemies.

This game is fantastic all the way through, with a perfect blend of intense combat and optional stealth, accompanied by a compelling narrative and well-developed characters, making it an incredibly enjoyable experience.

8/10 Would shoot Nazi's in the face with dual wielded shotguns again.

Fun and action-packed game with an amazing story and excellent world-building.

Just finished game, simply masterpiece...this is what gold era of gaming was like and how it should be, this is why I enjoy older games, it drags you into the story and you're center of doing. Beatiful game as wolfenstein is great title from great era of videogames. Gives you all sort of emotions and ending says "I did my work, now I can die in piece knowing tides turnes to better" You basically reject to die until you unalive deathshead...simply stunning game, it really deserve 90% of possitive ratings

It's a solid game which has anything that you expect and more, it has great deal of action mechanics, good ways to keep your hype up until the end and memorable characters (Metro series is a good example, I think your team here looks like what you have in Metro, and I liked the characters here more.)
And I did not expect an entertaining plot, the story is not complex but the world and characters and atmosphere are attractive.
About the cons, Well there is Uber difficulty, enemies spawn out of nowhere (I see when one of them spawned in front of me) and a single soldier can kill you in one or two seconds. I always like a good challenge but it's a lazy solution to make the game harder.
The weak points are not visible in enemies, for example there are many types of heavy and super soldiers in the game and almost all of them are more vulnerable from behind but there are no visual clues to help you understand this. ( and seems like they have noticed it, this problem was not bothering me when I was playing Old Blood.)

OH yeah, classic Wolfenstein fun! Tons of weapons, dual wield available, robotic bosses, and plenty of evil Nazis.

Was a very solid way to start off the new Wolfenstein games and in a lot of ways great characterization of BJ and the rest of the cast, absolutely give it a go.

The game itself is very good however there are some parts of the game which are completely unecessary and make you rage

Don't make games about foreign countries but hire native developers. Why is the loot not glowing? There's so much loot everywhere but it's not glowing.

Wolfenstein: The New Order really surprised me in a good way. The combat was fun, and who doesn't enjoy the opportunity to take out one's frustrations on Fascists, but the part that really surprised me was the character development and the story. I wasn't expecting much of what happened throughout the story, but I really didn't expect this game to get me teary-eyed at times because of characters in a video game that I barely interacted with.

This game proves that fun action can accompany good stories and fantastic characters, and you don't need tons of dialogue to do it.

Just wrapped up Wolfenstein: The New Order, and coming fresh from Battlefield 1, the story really hit that nostalgia vibe. You play as B.J. Blazkowicz, fighting Naz!s in an alternate history where they won WWII. The action is fast and chaotic, with a great mix of shooting and sneaking around. What surprised me was the story it’s actually deep for a shooter, and the characters are super memorable. If you’re into that old school, action packed vibe with a solid plot, this game totally delivers!

I begin by thanking the hard working developers who put a lot of time, effort and sweat into making a wonderful gameplay experience packaged nicely together with a beautiful art style. This is what I enjoyed about the game and yes, I did finish it.
I just want to point out the bad story and story-telling of this game, not off-topic. I don't recommend this game.

Remember that the true masters of the world bear no allegiance to a specific religion (however, they are Luciferians in the way they oppose everything that is good and just and in the way they use forbidden knowledge to advance evil plans, i.e: technology such as bioweapons, nukes, hardware backdoors, smartphone brainrot apps etc.) or to a specific country and they also don't share a common race. The only things you can identify these people by are: by their wealth, their family line and their evil acts. They will claim to belong to certain religions or nationalities to gain immunity against criticism, but do not be fooled, in truth they belong to business and unsurpassed psychopathy. I do not blame or condone hating or anything bad against anyone or any group of people. Through peace and understanding we can avoid violence and destruction that lead to nowhere good, such as the evils of communism (this game didn't even mention communism, how curious) or the evils of the nazis that this game focused so much on that it forgot to give us the full picture. I understand this game is a work of fiction that's supposed to be entertaining, but entertainment can carry a message and a message can be propaganda too, whether willingly or unwillingly, knowingly or unknowingly. I hope I have made myself clear. I also suggest watching "Yuri Bezmenov - ALL Interviews & Lectures HQ (1984-1983)" (a KGB defector whose real name is Tomas Schuman) and a series of free documentaries entitled "How the Specter of Communism Is Ruling Our World".

P.S. Please make a game where I can fight bankers or communists and call it Wolfiskaya or something, to make it more in theme :-)

It's fun but it's helped me to realize I don't enjoy shooters like I once did. 4 of the 9 hours played have been on loading screens or time between missions on my phone or doing something else. It would definitely be a great shooter if you enjoy the genre but It is not my cup of tea

Wait... So they just flew three prototype helicopters from London to their secret resistance headquarters in the center of f***ing Berlin without anybody noticing? The game is not exactly realistic but this is where I draw the line XD

i love killing nazi machinery and a crazed nazi scientist with a collection of brains.

The excellent character-led storytelling is accompanied by aggressive shooting mechanics, and some spectacular environmental vibes of doom and dystopian future.

good gameplay, good story, it's like a mix of wolfenstein, doom and hitman :)

The reason I will always like Wolfenstein more than DOOM is that it will always be more satisfying to shoot nazis
