This HOG is well made but a little short. HO scenes are interesting and mini-games are not too hard which is good. Dialogue delivery for the protagonist is annoying but all the other characters are ok.
This game was very short, but fun. The hidden object scenes were decent and there were enough of them. However, the main character was so annoying. Why did she talk like that? Who ever came up with the idea for the main character to sound like that should be fired. It was terrible - must have been someone's daughter or something. Anyway - the game was okay except for her voice and the fact that it was incredibly short. Also, the story line and ending were really dumb.
Hmm...no. Just.. no.
Although I didn't find the story hook to be bad, it is very poorly executed.
- There's an unusual amount of plotholes and that says something for a HOG.
- Characters could have have more depth, the usual HOG puddle depth would have been something
- The voice actors are somewhat ok.. they are on the level of many HOG and that is ok - except the MC who is terrible. The MC voice is reading s . l . o . w . l . y from a script without even trying to get in character.
- The important part - the HOG scenes are not interesting or challeging
I did find one good part though, should you decide to part with money for this game, sale or not: It takes only around 2 hours before your trial is over.
Edit: spelling and clearification on MC.
My gawd, the VOICE!
i accidentally bought this on both Android and Steam, and only recently tried it on Steam (after having tried it some 6 months ago on Android). i literally couldn't handle the attrocious voiceovers and gave up after only a few minutes into it.
i'm NOT picky about voice-overs, in particular in this type of game. They can be as cheesy as they like and it doesn't bother me. Cheesy is one thing, but...
But... the main character's voice-acting was obviously done without the voice actor being shown any context from the scenes whatsoever, and with literally no hint of inspiration or drama. It's like she was woken up with a hangover, someone stuck a script in her hand, and asked her to read it line-by-line with no context whatsoever and no re-takes if it didn't come out quite right.
The voice director, if any, deserves a good flogging for this one, as that single aspect is what makes this game unplayable.
If you absolutely insist on playing this, do yourself a favor and disable voices. That makes it rather bland, but in a different way than the main voice actress is.
On the whole, I can't overly recommend this game. I found it was too quick to complete, the story was rather bland, and the female protagonist's voice acting was atrocious. As a puzzle game itself, it was fine, but it was let down by poor execution.

The Game Review
Game Visuals
I want to mention that the visuals in the game are well done. The visuals can be adjusted in the game's option menu.
Game Audio
I want to mention that audio for the game is well done. Even though the audio is somewhat simplistic and repetitive. The audio can be adjusted in the game's option menu as well.
Gameplay
There are four different difficulty game modes to choose from: Regular; Advanced; Expert and Custom.
The notebook keeps track of progression in the game. Such as story events and clues.
There is an interactive map in the game. It allows the player to fast travel between each location quickly without having the need to constantly backtrack. It also indicates that there are a variety of tasks that can be completed at various locations within the game. The interactive map is automatically given at the start of the game.
There is a padlock feature that is available to lock the inventory panel in place to make it stationary.
There are some interactive items in the game. Some of the interactive may require extra components before they can be interacted with. All interactive items are marked with a symbol in one of the corners.
Magical Amulet that allows the player to reveal certain events that had happened in the past.
Multi-tool device tool comes with three different tools: Screwdriver; Scissor and Knife.
The hidden object scenes consist of the following: Reversed hidden objects; Fragmented items; Shadow items. Some of these hidden object scenes may require little or no interaction.
The puzzles are fairly easy to solve without having the need to skip any of them.
There is a collectible in the game: Eye of Horus. They are scattered throughout the game for the player to find.
There are fifteen different achievements that can be unlocked from playing the game. Each of these achievements does come with some requirements that need to be completed before they can be unlocked.
Miscellaneous
There are extra features in the game: Wallpapers and Concept Art. Some of these extra features can be accessed only after the entire game is completed.
There are five different trading cards to collect. Only three of those trading cards are given out by the game. There are several ways to get the rest of the trading card: Purchased from Steam's Community Market; Trade with friends; Booster Packs and its' Booster Pack Creator.
Final thoughts: I have found the game enjoyable to a certain extent. The replay value for the game is low. I would recommend this game, but not at the game's full price value.
I like this game for its graphics. I agree with other reviews that the voice dub can be better, especially for the protagonist. The receptionist has better dub. And for a very short game (2 hours), I probably wouldn't have bought it for its full price. I bought it during the Christmas discount period.
Not a bad game, as hidden object games go, with reasonably chalenging puzzles. Graphics are good, although the accuracy of the cursor is somewhat akin to using a sledge hammer on tin tacks. reasonable game length at around 3 hours.
The voice acting leaves a lot to be desired. The lead character sounds like a drunk, stoned, C list porn actress of uncertain origin and the secretary is a Cockney bimbo who would struggle to count past 10.
Worth playing if you like this sort of thing, but not at full price
78/100
Replay value = almost none, the puzzles remain the same
This is a pretty standard game for the HO genre, nothing standing out as spectacular but worth a playthrough.
The HO scenes and minigames are standard fare, not too hard, sometimes pretty easy. Graphics are not spectacular but again not terrible. Nothing to write home about, as the saying goes.
The voice acting is egregiously bad. This bothered the bejeezus out of me, but I'm also picky about voiceovers. It probably won't bother the majority of players as there aren't that many sections of dialogue.
My biggest complaint was the playtime; I finished in two hours with every achievement completed in one playthrough. The game was overall very simple. Since the game includes trading cards, you may end up going and playing more to get all of your cards if you're one that collects (which I will be doing).
Overall, not terrible and worth a play, but due to the short playtime I would suggest picking it up on sale. These games generally don't run more than about 3 hours for a playthrough, but two hours and lack of extra features makes this game not worth a full $7.99 to me.
Nice plot in this game, has nice puzzles and nice graphics. The game is somewhat short and the voiceacting sounds a bit odd. But that didnt bother me too much, I found this game to be fun.
Recommended for all point&click/hidden object lovers.
The Dreamatorium of Dr. Magnus 2 is a hidden object game that leads you to solve a mystery. I normally like hidden object puzzles, but I was rather disappointed with the story and the mechanics of this one. There were times when the next steps weren't clear, and I wasn't a fan of the narrators voice or pace of storytelling. I give it 6/10.
I enjoyed the game a lot- it felt like it had the same magic that a lot of the Artifex Mundi games (the ones they've only been publishing and not developing) have been lacking of late. And I appreciated the inclusion of some collectibles. If it's on sale, it's certainly worth picking up. But be forewarned, the game is very, very short... shouldn't take you more than 2-3 hours to complete everything, and I feel like that's about half the time of most HOG's. Also, the ending seems a bit abrupt and truncated. And finally the female voice acting is just atrocious. Two Desperadoes would certainly benefit by having it redone.
In general, I really like this developer, and I hope for the next game they'll continuing both ironing out the kinks and craft a longer, more complex game. They obviously have some talent, they just need to create a game that really capitalizes on and is worthy of those talents. This seems to be a game they did for a third party, and I'd like to see them working for themselves and creating their own line of games. Still, if you catch this on sale, it's certainly worth $2-3 and it's a fun play while it lasts. 6.5/10
Pretty average hidden-object game.
Pros: Ok graphics. Some items in your inventory can be manipulated, that's a nice idea.
Cons: Terrible voice actress in the leading role; that was the worst voice acting I've heard in a long time. Also, the game moves you between locations without warning so that's an easy way to miss some collectibles.
Cute game. It's fun, although the story is a little silly. And the protagonist has quite possibly the worst voice acting I've ever heard.
So firstly.. This is actually a good game.
BUT.. THe voice actress wasn't given the right directions by the (non-enlgish speaking) developers. When people started complaining about the voice she actually went into the game forums to apologize to the players - and then got BANNED by the devs.
Seriously. What the f*ck is wrong with games companies these days?
I bought the game to support her and to say that Kat I thought your voice is lovely - I see what you were going for: A kind of Luna Lovegood dreaminess, but I think such a thing is tricky to manage without a proper director, and I'm sorry you didnt get that.
I will recommend the game only because you're in it.
Love the game mechanisms used here. The art is gorgeous and the puzzles interesting. The plot is average, and the voice acting ... oh my goodness, the voice acting. I got spoiled with the English voice actress who's done some of Artifex Mundi's stuff. Magnus was great. The female non-lead was great. Our female protagonist, though, could have been replaced by a bored 12 year old reading a book report and it might've been a slight improvement.
One of the best Hidden Objects games on Steam. Liked the story and HO scenes. Great puzzles.
Easy to lose track of time playing this game. Finished it in one sitting, from beginning to end.
Bought it on release day with the 10% discount. I believe it's totally worth the full price.
Highly recommended if you like HOG's. You surely will enjoy this one.
10/10
It was a good game. Very short though. I feel like I completed the entire thing in one hour. The puzzles were challenging without being impossible. I just wish it was longer.
The game is a good time killer for the price and it does have a travel/hint map which is nice. However the voice of the detective is so annoying, if you play it you'll see what I mean. She sounds bored to tears to be solving the case! Graphics are not bad, a bit on the older side. However it passed a couple hours for not an outrageous price.
It's also nice it has achievements too!
If you like Artifex Mundi series, you will definitely like this game. Despite strange women voice acting, it's pretty solid and logical. Unobtrusive casual time killer with logical puzzles and point-and-click action. And yes, the help button. :)
