I really like this game. Organizing is my "thing", so I have played it through at least a half dozen times. I like to challenge myself to "make it even better" each time I start organizing.
The big question is....will there be more? I really want to have a series of these games, but have heard nothing about sequels. Please let us know if there will be further installations!
For those on the fence...this is a very cute, quiet game. Great for pushing the world aside & just focusing on the tiny details. I think it is great, hence my playing it so many times. Would love to find more games of this kind. If you like puzzles, I think you will really enjoy it.
me personally, i'm an organizing addict so this game was AMAZING. i loved on how there was a variety of stuff to place around with a small story line that followed along with it. my only wish for this game is for it to be a lot longer especially since i played it consistently lol. definitely recommend though!
A super chill and laidback game! i love playing this while listening to podcasts, its super calming and a good destresser
beautiful and relaxing all at once. one of my favorite games to sit back and chill with.
10/10
can get a little boring and i wish there was more levels but it was fun and different
This game scratches SO many itches! Organisation, creativity, puzzles. It has helped with my panic attacks, just a nice soothing game you can get lost in.
Cute game, thought there would be much more content for the price. Gameplay is only about 4 hours long. A little disappointed as I thought there would be more to it considering the hype.
Very cozy game, that has more of a story to it than you might think. Hits you in the feels, and it's satisfying to place things in different places. I only wish there could be more to play like this, but I have played through it twice fully, and will probably keep coming back for the experience, even if it's just one story.
Honestly really lovely, I played it through about a year ago, really sweet story and nice graphics. Im about to re-play and redownloaded steam just to do so. I do wish that there was more than 5 hours of gameplay though as its a really good game.
i think the game is kinda boring, you place always the same things just in bigger appartments. and its very annoying that you cant place everything everywhere (like room is logical but you cant place a toaster on the table in kitchen??) i needed to watch yt videos so i know where i can place specific things... this game is a flop for me.
A cute little game with surprisingly well storytelling! I enjoyed taking my time to unpack my boxes and looking around at the life that unfolded around me. Great use of ''generational items''. I don't see myself playing it again as it's not much to do different in a new playthrough, but it was time well spent. A++
A fun short puzzle game - I enjoyed achievement hunting, and seeing how the person grew over time, but will admit I got a tad bit annoyed when I disagreed with an item's 'correct' placement!
A simple game with a gentle storyline revolving around everyday moments. It’s not just a casual experience; through each room and each passing year, I feel a deeper connection, as if I’m gradually understanding what the character has gone through and is living in the present. Even more surprising, the game unveils unexpected glimpses of their future. I truly cherish a game like this and sincerely thank everyone who has worked and continues to work to create such a wonderful experience.
I wish there were more chapters in this game, but in a way, I'm glad the devs ended it the way it is. It's quite therapeutic to play this as there's not much complication found throughout the game, although it does get a little tricky the more rooms you discover. I like how this is packed with a rather simplified animation too--you can tell what the main character is into and good God, the plushy, the toys, and even the painting? Love their design! <3
This is one of the most chill and comfy games I've ever played, especially if you enable the "place items where you want" option. It also has some of the most charming pixel art I've ever seen in a game, very relaxing and catchy music, and absolutely superb sound design. Please give this game a shot if you're looking for something nice and cozy, it's totally worth every penny!
This game was amazing in its simple yet unique storytelling. I loved being able to not only organize things but also figure out what's going on in the life of our character. The achievements were enjoyable to look for as well. I originally was on the fence about getting this game since it's $20. Even though it's a shorter experience (around 4 hours or so to complete), it was worth every penny!
10/10 game, the end song hit me right in the feels. It was a little annoying that some things had to be in very specific places but that wasn't all that bad. Other than having to put her diploma under the bed in the 2010 level, that was just mean :(, she worked so hard and she is cant even hang it up next to the band posters in the living room :,(
A short but nice chill experience. Actually tells a story by the stuff you unpack and the places you are at which is a nice way.
5/5 Stars
I've now played this game in full twice, and I can happily say it's one of the best cozy games out there. While it can be a bit stressful trying to find a pleasing place for everything, there's really no risk and no stakes to the game. You play at your own pace and have fun along the way.
Where Unpacking really shines is in its environmental storytelling. You pick up nuances and implications as you play, if you're paying attention. It's very good at what it sets out to do, and you end up feeling attached to the main character, though you never even learn her name. It's been some time now since the game out, but I still selfishly hold out hope that they'll release something in a similar vein, or maybe a DLC that will expand on the family.
Not me getting pissed about not finding enough room for all my shit in the man's apartment while simultaneously getting pissed about the fact that I'm ruining the sleek minimalistic vibe of his apartment with all my fuckin tchotchkes
For perfectionists, this game is a 10.
You can place everything in the room exactly how you want while truly relaxing.
The only downside is that, despite completing all the achievements, the game is exceptionally short, which in my opinion makes it not worth its full price.
However, it’s still worth playing and experiencing for yourself.
Enjoyed at first, but then got really disappointed as the game goes.
The price makes no sense.
I thought there would be multiple people’s life, with complex implications - like, someone important died, a person had ocd, other had almost nothing to pack, etc.
And the character we play only had 3 little “hidden” things about then.
I understand that some objects need specific places, because its her taste, not mine, and that’s a clever way to show personality….but could be better.
If you want a short, kinda cute, a bit repetitive (if you play in one go), game about one person, than buy it on discount
One of my all time favorites, bought another copy for mobile just so I could play it anywhere!
The art style is incredibly cute, the gameplay is relaxing, albeit mostly when you turn on the "place items everywhere" setting, since I disagree with some of the item placement logic
Love the way the game tells a story without really saying anything directly, the small details and touches (finally a Jewish MC! Disabled and queer too! She's just like me fr fr)
My kids really enjoy this game. Normally I'm not a fan of accessibility settings for difficulty, but in this case turning off the setting where certain items must go in certain spots, and instead just letting them put things wherever they like, does make for a more enjoyable experience and minimizes frustration. Sometimes they're in the mood for the restrictions and sometimes they just want to relax. Pleasant game, and a cool way of telling a "story"
its a fun cozy game with a storyline behind it if you pay attention and its fun to organize each level
This game is has the cutest story line EVER. Getting to learn about the main character through her things over the years is so fun. I really enjoyed how simple the game play is, while still being interesting. Small things like arranging magnets on the fridge add to the game a ton! Cute game!!!!!! :)
absolutely adore this game. my fav fav fav game its so satisfying and comforting with a cute storyline. wish there was more.
This game is very beautiful and relaxing. The gameplay is very simple but special in its own way, and the story of the girl in this game is truly interesting.
I recommend this game to everyone, you won't regret playing it!
This game is cozy and relaxing with a nice story line, but it feels too short for the price. Even on sale, it’s a bit expensive for what you get. I still recommend it if you’re willing to spend the money.
really fun game to play and cute story. was fun unlocking all the achievements and i'll probably still play it through again even after 100%ing it.
I was curious about this game and I loved it. Arranging the different houses made me relax and have a good time as well as getting to know the character's story and her life. Finishing the game took longer than I expected, but I loved it.
Honestly 10 bucks is probably asking too much. It's a cute time waster, but not for 20. If watching paint dry has gotten old for you and you want some more excitement, try this out.
The game is straight forward you are in a house and you unpack thing as you move through a person each aspect of life. The story of the game is told through the interactions with the items and the album book.the music of the game will not keep you bored and as a bonus the games has a feature where it can a GIF how how you unpacked a room.
Not super long, so definitely get it on a discount... but overall well made and surprisingly open ended.
Super cozy point-and-click game, it's wonderful to turn my brain off! The art is adorable and I loved the idea of telling a story through people's possessions. I just wish there were more levels; I 100% it in about 4 hours. There's very little content so I wouldn't recommend paying full price. I got it on sale for 50% off.
A very fun game but for the love of god please let me put anything where I want it to there will be no toilet cleaner stored ontop of the toilet in my house
Unpacking is a really cute and relaxing game with some stunning pixel graphics and although I wish there were more levels I highly recommend this game if you like organizing! I've played it a few times over and keep coming back to re-play it.
It has become one of my favorite games I've played on steam!
Oh my gosh, it's so good. The amount of things you get to learn about characters you never meet, the aesthetics, the art, the story conveyed through simple objects and the way they're placed...everything is so well thought out. I feel like I grew up with this fictional character and I'm literally crying tears of joy for them lol. If you enjoy the feeling of moving into a new space and putting your things away, and if you like cozy games, you'll really enjoy this!

Unpacking is a game about, well… unpacking. At first, it’s kinda annoying trying to find a place for everything, especially when some items just don’t fit anywhere. But as you go along, it becomes oddly therapeutic. There’s something satisfying about organising and seeing a space come together. Plus, without a single word, the game tells a quiet but meaningful story through the things you unpack.

Unpacking uses intimate level design to tell a compelling story about growing up. This has some of the best level design in a game, and I found myself feeling sentimental about items that don't even belong to me in real life. It's an incredible game, and weirdly relaxing.
I have around 5 completed playthroughs and i can tell you i have bawled my eyes out every time that godforsaken ending sequence came up. this game is the quite literally the phrase "actions speak louder than words". the entire story is so beautifully portrayed using very very little dialogue. i watch the playback gifs way too much.
As someone who loves to organise, this game has been a bloody angel send. I love the artstyle and the music, and I adore how the story of the person we're 'playing' as is gradually told. The ending is so sweet and to be honest I never get sick of this game. I looked back at some of my old saves and cringed at how I arranged them and immediately needed to re-do the entire game.
Finally stopped procrastinating on this game and finished it. <3 such a cute story though I wish there was more for the price.
due to my unwillingness and procrastination of progressing this game, i have accidentally played through each part of the plot as i lived it out, so this game has an oddly specific place in my heart
regardless, this game is super relaxing and enjoyable, even if i find myself stressing through my perfectionism. the music and sound design is beautiful and i love the story this game tells about growth.
i feel like other reviews don't give it enough credit where its due, i recommend this nice chill experience ^_^
I love this game, it always helps me relax and spend some quiet time with myself. However, I'd love the game to be updated, more levels and more stories. It could be completely different stories with new people, that way it won't get repetitive.
the main issue i had with the game is that you have to put everything in SUCH SPECIFIC PLACES and if you don't know what something is, like a FUCKING EGG FOR EXAMPLE, it can take you so unbelievably long, trying to put everything on every shelf in every single room, and god forbid you miss a spot because you'll be going mentally insane, and may the lord have mercy on your innocent soul if you don't fucking realise you CAN put shit in a specific place
the story is good. there wasn't much, but you can tell who the character is simply by what stuff there is, and where you have to put it. the game (for the most part) is very calming, and just a chill experience, up until the end of each years where the game tells you items aren't in the right place
You unpack a persons belongings as live is moving on.
It every once in a while makes you question your organisational system and the game tends to do weird things with items that make 0 sense.
I got this on sale. I liked it so much, I intend to play through at least one more time. The relaxed, stress-free pleasure of discovering what was in each box and finding homes for each item was addictive. I loved that each new "room" wasn't just a new level, but instead was a new chapter in the life of an unseen character. It was so much fun seeing which items re-appeared and which were left behind as the character grew and had new experiences and homes. I recommend this if you can get it on sale like I did.
It may be a short experience but it wouldn't be just to reduce this to playtime. I have never seen a game that cared more about its protagonist. One simple mechanic and this turned from a little "let's click around for fun" to "woah, gut punch". No spoilers just play for yourself.
I do have to say: I spend several weeks IRL between play sessions which helped feeling that time had passed since the last move. And some items are just utterly foreign to me. I have no idea what they are or where to put them but that doesn't hinder the game experience at all.
I enjoyed the first couple levels as i enjoy decorating the empty spaces with stuff. But aventually it became a lot more puzzle based by making it more and more specific of where you need to place items. It prettymuch took the fun out of the relaxing experience it started with. It's possible others enjoy it more as a puzzle game but i was not expecting that and rather do my own thing and decide where i want to put what.
