Highly recommend it’s so fun even with the continued delayed update.
If you dig Minecraft and kerbals you will love this game. Base building check..... Car building check..... weapons check..... rockets!!!!!!!!check.... This has everything my engineering mind wants when playing a game to take my mind off of the stress of daily life. Also my 8 year old loves playing as well.
A fun creative game that lets you do what ever you want as a dwarf on a farming planets that is taken over by robots. The devs take a while to do updates but if the next update is what they say it is than it is going to be amazing. Highly recommend if you like creative building and farming mechanics 9/10.
good game do recommend but i play most of my games with a controller i wud play more if it was supported
Been half a game for years, pretty good build and logic mechanics but very little game to leverage them in. FINALLY there is an update after years, physics and network improvements are nice, but NOTHING new for survival. Don't bother until they actually release something, anything, for survival, unless you are willing to do creative mode only.

This didn't really feel playable yet to me. There's a lack of direction or instruction so it's not really clear what the goal is or how things work, and the one thing I did try to do was plant some crops, but then quickly fell afoul of an unexplained mechanic where you get attacked for unauthorised farming.
Maybe it'll be better when it's out of early access, but for now I just couldn't get into it.
This game is great even if it takes years for an update but its still a great game in my opinion and can nurture your creativity or your logical thinking
Please do not be fooled by the recent physics update--the game is not being actively developed. The last dev log is from over two years ago, and during that time there has been zero communication from the developers on progress or plans for the next big update. The new features in the 'surprise' patch address none of the crafting, combat, or progression issues that have been frustrating people since survival mode was added. This useless update will show the game as "Recently Updated" during the winter sale and will end up tricking people into buying a dead game. Another early-access burnout game "Stranded Deep" did the same thing.
I am officially giving up on this one, and would recommend you really understand what you're buying before giving them any of your money.
I would suggest to anyone that is thinking of getting this game to look at what is out there (videos, posts, discussion boards) already about the game before deciding. The game is fairly fun. There is a sandbox area where you can build within this games mechanics to your hearts content, but how many ways can you do the same thing? If this is something you like, then feel free to proceed.
There is a survival mode, but that has no clear objectives or storyline to it. You can see that you crashed on a world and now need to survive, but no real direction other than a small thing that shows you how to grow vegetables. If you want to figure out how to play the game while discovering the map then it can be fun, but it doesn't take long before you are in the end game and then just "surviving to survive" as there is no additional progression beyond that point.
There has been multiple promises and teasers since late 2020 of the survival getting a "Chapter 2" that would add all sorts of content. The only real proof of any of this is some screenshots in the very rare posts (went over 12 months with no updates or communication at one point) which is the main reason that I am choosing "No" on recommending this game. If you do your research and want to still purchase, please know that at best you will get spotty communication from developers about a game that has had very little updates thrown at it over the course of most of its time on Steam.
This update may seem small, but it brings so many new possibilities on how to build your creations, thank you devs for this heartwarming update!
I've changed my review from recommending this game to not because I just spent numerous hours building something and saved it just to have a "incorrect joint error" show up whenever ive tried to spawn it in. I'd say this is a pretty major bug that the devs seem to have completely ignored and it is very frustrating losing hours and hours of progress like this with no solution. (yes ive looked into the brent batch advanced blueprint tool but that's 6 years old and I couldnt get it to work nor did his discord server seem to be active when it came to helping people with this problem)
I had a lot of fun playing this game with my sister back in 2022. We have beat some 4-levels warehouses, that's was really fun! We love this game, and we have been talking that we want to play it again once it's fully released. Can't wait!

Vapourware. Zero updates or communication from devs for a long time, would be surprised if this game gets a good release at all without community feedback during final stages of development.
Love the game, tho its abandoned, not being updated. At the time of posting its been 1year since a small change has been done.

So much fun and with so much potential, but it hasn't been updated in so long without word from the developer.
TL;DR
If you enjoy a sandbox where you have to make your own game with friends, then this could be worth a look. If, like me, you're looking for a single player game then I'd give it a pass.
Bought this years ago and keep coming back every few years thinking there should be something fun there for a solo player, but no. Seeing videos, Creative is probably great fun with friends or if you're really into building mechanical marvels, but survival feels pretty terrible. Combat is just awful. Food and drinking is a tiresome exercise, still no idea how to get fluids without just finding cans lying around. On food, I thought I was doing something wrong and then found videos of people treating repeated death by starvation as just a part of the game play.
Overall it feels like a sandbox waiting for someone to come build a game in it.
This game showed so much promise, but it's been abandoned by the devs. Don't support companies that make a bunch of promises, take your money, then run. I won't be buying another Axolot game. I've learned my lesson. Steam needs to stop allowing this kind of thing to happen and start issuing refunds when companies don't deliver on their promises.
While I enjoyed the game when I bought it years ago. There hasn't been an update or any communication in so long that I must assume they have quietly quit development of the game. The very few updates we have received over the last 4 years in regards to their next big update have done nothing to convince me that this game will ever be completed.

Early access for 7+ years now, I bough this game back in the day to support its development but as you can see there hant been an update in years.
Shame really cause this game was pretty fun
if your into survival games and engineering this game is an easy 10/10 the ablsolute marvels of machinery you can make is insane. Thank you Axolot games for this marvelous game!

Good Game but Sadly Dead Been Waiting for an Update my Whole Life
This game has it's own meta. If you care a lot about sandbox games and want a challenging environment to create things and push limits, this is the game for you. For me I have spent over 1,500 hours and i don't regret it. Incase that isn't enough there is a passoinate modding community that can extend your expirience.
As a survival game it's terrible. There barely is a goal and creativity is limited, atleast challenges can be created and are actually fun.
Some glitches can be game braking but there are a few that have become part of the game so have fun learning about them.
Don't buy this game if you don't intend to do anything I have said!
At the time of this review chapter 2 has not come out yet, but even without it this game is possibly the most creatively allowing game i have really ever played, with endless building opportunities without mods, and with mods? it just bring more to the plate, also if you are starting off on this game i recommend learning how to glitch weld because once you have learnt it, mods that add new blocks and parts are not needed as you can make you own with vanilla stuff
Perfect Game for those Who are Natural Engineers/Mechanics Who need a Place to build what They want without having to get Limited Materials in the Real World. Would Recommend
the game is good ,however it does not handle the load very well and lags very easily and I have a power house rig.
Hasn't been updated in years. The dev log is active, but don't expect any semblance of updates to the actual game any time soon.

spend my night building a good heavy car for some duty tried it out drove it near red robots when i tried reversing it got stuck in the ground due to the AMAZING physics of this game and since i didnt know how to create back ups i lost all of resources all of my time building the car
all im saying is axolot games fix your god damn physics engine never retuning to scrap but will play raft cuz that game still has good enough physics engine

The developers abandoned the project over a year ago.
It will give you a few hours of fun, if you want to build complex mechanisms using only the editor, then this is the game for you. If you want a story, adventures and complex mechanisms are of little interest to you, then bypass the project.

If you like base building games or defending games or grinding games this is it, very good although small developer team and rare updates.

This game has unlimited potential and unlimited hours of play time. I have played this game for nearly 1000 hours spread on multiple accounts and have chose my friends solely on if they have played this game. I just wish it was more popular. Once chapter two comes out, you can bet I'll lock myself in my room and grind.
This game is broken and janky and the developers have abandoned it. Unless it's under $10 and you're really drawn to the gameplay I'd say don't get it. It's been in EA for so many years and hasn't had an update in over a year. Multiplayer does not work, the world is empty. I wanted so so bad to love this game. The bones are there but no, it's a mess.
I thoroughly enjoyed this game, and I think that there is a lot of fun to be had with Scrap Mechanic in it's current state. Fair warning, there has not been an update in around a year and a half, nor any communication from the developers through Steam posts.
i played this alot more then it says, but it is definitely worth a look on youtube at some of the player creations. theirs alot of mechanical control and good developmental spatial thinking. 10/10

it a fun game when there was only a creative mode and when they said they are adding a survival mode i knew it will be fun and the challenge mode is fun to and the community builds are good so if you want you can download them. 10/10

amazing game id say its better then minecraft its sucha fun game and its easy to get into
Very fun game, but it being "Early Access" with no sign of development for over a year just makes this something I wouldn't recommend.
Good game so far, but it's still unfinished and hasn't received a single update in over a year. I guess this game has been abandoned, so I wouldn't recommend it.
THIS GAME! is insanely fun if your creative and if you like adventure games just play survival or challenge mode
