spend my night building a good heavy car for some duty tried it out drove it near red robots when i tried reversing it got stuck in the ground due to the AMAZING physics of this game and since i didnt know how to create back ups i lost all of resources all of my time building the car
all im saying is axolot games fix your god damn physics engine never retuning to scrap but will play raft cuz that game still has good enough physics engine
(the end)
Don't buy the game!
The developers abandoned the project over a year ago.
It will give you a few hours of fun, if you want to build complex mechanisms using only the editor, then this is the game for you. If you want a story, adventures and complex mechanisms are of little interest to you, then bypass the project.
last update for this game was in 2020 lmao.
If you like base building games or defending games or grinding games this is it, very good although small developer team and rare updates.
Nice looking game, was kind of fun, but is unfinished and dumped by devs.
Early access game with serious issues and no updates or communication in over a year.
This game has unlimited potential and unlimited hours of play time. I have played this game for nearly 1000 hours spread on multiple accounts and have chose my friends solely on if they have played this game. I just wish it was more popular. Once chapter two comes out, you can bet I'll lock myself in my room and grind.
This game is broken and janky and the developers have abandoned it. Unless it's under $10 and you're really drawn to the gameplay I'd say don't get it. It's been in EA for so many years and hasn't had an update in over a year. Multiplayer does not work, the world is empty. I wanted so so bad to love this game. The bones are there but no, it's a mess.
I thoroughly enjoyed this game, and I think that there is a lot of fun to be had with Scrap Mechanic in it's current state. Fair warning, there has not been an update in around a year and a half, nor any communication from the developers through Steam posts.
i played this alot more then it says, but it is definitely worth a look on youtube at some of the player creations. theirs alot of mechanical control and good developmental spatial thinking. 10/10
Super fun great mechanics great graphics Very fun multiplayer game team work
Game is fun! But dead. Developers have abandoned it.
Dev message:
"PLEASE NOTE: We’re still hard at work on Scrap Mechanic! New content is being added and optimizations being made regularly. Get started right away in Survival Mode, Creative Mode and Challenge Mode! Please watch the latest Scrap Mechanic trailers to see the game’s latest state." - 2020...
2023 they did a "hotfix" update which was just some BS to show us the game hasn't been abandoned. Don't waste your money!
it a fun game when there was only a creative mode and when they said they are adding a survival mode i knew it will be fun and the challenge mode is fun to and the community builds are good so if you want you can download them. 10/10
Good. Creative mode is great, mods + workshop creations are great, survival is a bit grindy, but it's worth it!

amazing game id say its better then minecraft its sucha fun game and its easy to get into
Very fun game, but it being "Early Access" with no sign of development for over a year just makes this something I wouldn't recommend.
Good game so far, but it's still unfinished and hasn't received a single update in over a year. I guess this game has been abandoned, so I wouldn't recommend it.
THIS GAME! is insanely fun if your creative and if you like adventure games just play survival or challenge mode
Last update was a year ago. Still listed as early access. if there was a neutral rating, I would do that.
This game has been in early access for a long time and with seemingly minimal updates from the developers I can only assume its abandoned or shelved for the time being. I cannot recommend this game anymore.
i think ist a really good game and it can keep you on the screen for houers at times
I Really enjoy playing this game because i can use my brain, yet still be so relaxed, it's the game i always come back to after a long day of work. It sparks creativity and logistical thinking that keeps my brain healthy (while still having the additional goofs) and is overall a great experience. Would definetly recommend for anyone with a creative urge.
(PLEASE RELEASE CHAPTER 2)
I really love this game: the gameplay, the world, the tools, the physics, the interface, the enemies, the survival challenges. If you like engineering and/or you like survival games that give you a lot of freedom and don't need a lot of direction or story, then I absolutely recommend this game in its current state. In survival, there's lots to explore, build, optimize, and overcome - as long as you're okay motivating yourself a bit and setting your own goals. If you get hung up on the promise of updates with more content and a more fleshed-out survival experience, then you're setting yourself up for disappointment and holding yourself back from enjoying what's a really good game as it is.
If you ARE looking for a polished survival experience with a well-defined story and plenty of direction, then this isn't the game for you right now. Check back every so often for the next big updates and for the game to be out of early access, which could be years down the line.
it is a fun sandbox game that is like trail maker but with buttons
Игрушка классная особенно понравилось играть в режим survival наиграл чуть чуть но мне зашло советую
It's hard considering there's the Farmbot and alot of enemies but its really fun because it has more than one gamemode unlike some other games and becoming a mechanic or just learning about Logic gates was very fun even though it was hard it was very fun
I am torn on giving this game a positive or negative review. Since the game is great but seems to have been abandoned and the trust with the community has kinda been lost with the continual delay of a major update after over 2 years of people waiting since the last major content update was in May of 2022, yeah we have gotten a few dev logs since then but nothing really since March of 2023 on the Steam side and December on Twitter/X side. So its up to you if you really want to get a game that very well could be abandoned by the devs. I think for the sake of this review its going to be positive but just barely but its really wish I could give a middle review.
Game is still in early access but last update was in 2023. where devs? Steam should open refunds for these kind of games.
I want to put "mixed" on this review, but steam doesn't offer that.
Putting nearly 500 hours into the game building, crafting, surviving, I can say it has been a fun ride, but I cannot recommend the game in it's current state.
There hasn't been an update in nearly a year, and the devs have been dead quiet about it's progress. At this point it's the modding community and youtubers keeping the game alive. The infamous "early access" tag has claimed yet another potential game.
the game itself is fine aside from the water physics, air physics and a lot more. i am not gonna lie, the devs are horrible, they arent doing ANYTHING, okay maybe they add A SINGLE ROBOT EVERY YEAR but that's it. i remember this game from my childhood, but i am not gonna lie, it was better before the whole character change. I am disapointed in the game as well as the devs themselves. DO BETTER
ALSO i know this game isnt rlly about physics, if you're complaining about that, buy stormworks and not this, but they could've at least made the water actually work.
this game is very funny and interactive, si good to play with friends and it mage you inteligents
Nice very good game recomend to play with friends not dy/ng from laughing(optional)👍🏼
game is very glitchy and does not receive updates anymore so dont expect any of the glitches to be fixed anytime soon. also becomes extremely laggy when more than one creation is spawned, especially in multiplayer, the game engine is not optimized to run what this game advertises. Very fun concept, just a shame the devs have no passion for it at all
like it, sadly isnt updated much anymore. really unoptimized and that makes it fucking funny, you can mod it too, just fun in general
great game for building stuff but a bit of a lack of updates but as a GD player im used to it
Developer's have been quiet for quite a long time, I do not recommend purchasing, unless you are okay with a rather fun game, but unfinished.
I think this game is abandoned. Last update was around november 2023. If there's no update or even a patch for a whole year. Then it's safe to assume that it's discarded by the devs. Correct me if I'm wrong.
not many true survival craft games out there that give you a sense of being able to truly custumize a world to the very core., no pre built doohickeys you have to chose from, just you making your own world, this is one of them along with games like: Starbound, Terraria, and Minecraft. just you (and maybe some friends, if you have any) and whatever your imagination can think of
i do like this game but i want to like it more. it has great mechanics and has a good premise but thats it. the biggest problem is we have no idea whats going on. i know it takes a long time to work on a game and im fine for waiting for games that take a long time cause they come out as diamonds. the issue is we have no word if this game is still being worked on or is just plain dead. there is no teasers from the devs, no screenshots, no previews... just nothing. we will either be surprised by a new big update and ill change this review or ... well they took our money and ran. so be warned before buying, look into the company and the game and see if it is worth your time and money or not. i like axolot games and i want to trust them but im wavering on it.
I love the physics and particualily the pistons but avoid suspension as it is very glitchy
The creative mode lets one build to their heart's content, without risk of tests going wrong. the challenge mode tests your ability to think outside the steering wheel, and the survivial mode is a test of creativity, farming, and defense. would reccomend.
Ahhh Scrap-Mechanic, an overall good game with great potential.
I love the sandbox of this game that allows you to create whatever you can imagine and actually make it functional.
From intractable buttons and switches, lights, engines, and steering wheels. You can create anything from, cars to boats, submarines to catapults, rockets and aircraft or maybe a house?
This game lets you do practically anything and with mods you can do even more. The community is very strong with a great collection of blueprints that you can download to enjoy other players amazing creations!
The biggest Issue I have with the game is the lack of updates, it is really sad to see a decline in the passion given to the game from it's development team. It's survival mode was a complete disaster, with a few good things here and there.
I still believe this game has potential and the community is still waiting for some major updates, but it's hard to see any path forward when the development team have failed to communicate anything. I mean the game is still in early access after 8 years!!!!
We all wish to see scrap-mechanic make a comeback and it would be possible if the devs showed passion for the project. Unfortunately we are left with what they have discarded.
For a game that's been in early access for almost over 8 years now, there is not much to see here. I watched Satisfactory go from early access to full release, and the developers of that game were communicative and just as enthusiastic as it's players. In contrast, Scrap Mechanic has been just full of disappointment. This game is not alive to me because it is dying. Deadlines are being missed, and promises are going unfulfilled. I have uninstalled this game to make room for other, more engaging ones. I have watched many others still have hope for this game, and I have envied their optimism. Though this game may feel like it has new content compared to when I last played in 2021, if you look at their dev logs, their hotpatches, their twitter, their website, and everywhere else you can find this game, there is evidence that says otherwise. I would be more understanding if they were rebuilding the game on a new engine like Hytale is, but since they aren't, I can only surmise that this game will not ever pull itself out of early access with an avid fan base. Why? Because what the developers of this game seemed to have forgotten is that the commitment to making the game is the same as the commitment to exciting their fans. If you fail to do one, you fail to do both. If Chapter 2 comes out before 2025 as promised, I will reinstall it, and I will play it, and we will see if my opinion of this game will change. But if it doesn't I'm removing this game from my steam library and moving on to content that is still full of life.
A game doesn't die because it has no fans. It dies because it has no developers.
i love sandbox survival games overall, but when they give such a loose way to achive a simple thing like farming with physics and relatively simple mechanics, it really tickles the brain juices
and the block size really works to allow detail, and be large enough to make it a chore to just make a platform
and even the ability to just weald parts really puts the name to the game
It's minecraft with create mod but pulls it off even better, and create mod was really good.
No updates from devs in a year. Early access for nine years. Game is obviously abandoned and devs have all shifted to raft.
Was a cool game with a lot of potential, but now it's just another abandonware.
Amazing if you are actually creative. Otherwise kinda boring... wanting those updates!
Dead Game. Very little content/incomplete game. Communication from the developers to players has stopped entirely.
It is an amazing idea for a game and quite entertaining. However, very little content at all and no transparent roadmap to finish the game. I wouldn't buy it knowing this.
