Brilliant game. If you liked Lords of Chaos from the before times then you'll like this. 10/10 Would recommend.
A fun tactics game with RPG elements that plays differently to most. Takes heavy inspiration from the classic "Lords of Chaos" game from the 8-bit and 16-bit era. This is a much friendlier and easier game to get into for newer players and for people for whom the older game might be quite daunting with all its info and controls.
The graphics and controls are pleasing, with a nice voxel gimmick that adds to the look and gameplay (easy to distinguish units on the map) and the game eases you into the controls and concepts gradually so you are not overwhelmed.
It's a very cheap price for a very fun game. Worth buying. Has a good single player campaign to follow as your character develops, various secrets and scores to try to beat as well as a multiplayer aspect too once you're looking to challenge other players.
I'd like to see a sequel or follow up game that takes on the darker and more serious style of Lords of Chaos and perhaps more close to the mechanics and style of it too.

A voxel game that doesn't crash my computer?!?!? GET OUT! The Last Warlock is a lot of fun to play and the graphics are amazing, even on the lowest setting. This game gets the Umikzae Seal of Approval.
Many reviews here will tell you what kind of game this is. I will simply tell you why it fills a particular need for me. As an adult who loves games, I don't have much time during the work week to meet people online to play. I also have quite a few friends in the same situation. So, I look for games that are asynchronous, meaning that we can all play a turn when we have the time.
The Last Warlock provides that, at no expense to the experience. In fact, this isn't the kind of game where you would want to wait around for someone, or a few people, to finish their turn. So, it's great that I can play my turn when I have time, and then get an email notification when my turn is ready. I get a replay of all the action, and then I can leisurely act on my strategy.
Like I said before, I won't go into all the details about why this game is so good, but I'll highlight one: Multiplayer games are a dynamic and thoughtful experience. Each warlocks' spells are randomized. You can set the arena randomly too. There are spells which can cause random effects that change terrain in meaningful ways. The end result is that you have to think on your feet. There is no one strategy that will win you the game.
If you like turn based competition, and don't have a lot of time, I highly recommend this game.
As a great fan of Lords of Chaos since the 90s, this not only recaptures its gameplay perfectly, it dare I say improves upon it vastly, solving many of the issues the game had, but adding some great new features. It is such a great feeling to be able to explore these new worlds with the same game mechanics of one of my favourite games of all time, making me feel like I am playing it for the first time again.
My only major problem with it, is I miss the old style of graphics, I totally understand why a more independant game designer like this used the Minecraft look, but if I was to to have one great goal for this game is to one day have a more old or realistic look of graphics, which I understand would take a lot of work, but I would be more than happy to fund such a project as much as I could, because I think with that little tweak this more actually out match the original.
For people unfamiliar with Lords of Chaos, this is a brilliant turn based strategy and puzzle solving game, for those who like time to think on their actions, explore a world as a character with minimal fuss of narrative but still fun story, an easy to understand interface, and most of all the BEST local multiplayer, where you take it in turns in SECRET from each other, which you can now also do by online play (which I am yet to try out but am very excited by), try this game and look beyond the graphics - which I still have to note are cute in their own way.
Love this game, and thank you SonicSloth for bringing back the joy of my childhood again (who am I kidding I still play Lords of Chaos today ha) and if you ever need any help with video editing or graphics design I'd love to help and will be following what happens to this game in the future.
nice game, looks simple but has tactical turnbased combat reminiscent of lords of chaos (a game from the 1980s)
i am very surprised since i did not expect it to be this good.
"The Last Warlock" is an entertaining fantasy battle simulation. A cross between Minecraft and Age of Wonders, your character meets other magic-users in the field of battle to see who will be the last, as there "can be only one". To your aid you can conjure multitudinous magical beasts, who if they have arms may wield the weapons and shields you craft for them from raw materials conveniently scattered about. Many of these creatures are mounts that may be ridden into the fray.
Besides the various enemies to slay, the battlefields also feature clever puzzles to solve, and secret treasures to uncover. There are also multiplayer options, to try your mettle against natural intelligence opponents.
A highly enjoyable experience, especially considering the price. If the game had one downside, it would be that the AI is very weak. I have nearly completed the game on Challenging, and only had to redo one map due to the unexpected death of my Warlock.
My instant reaction is that its actually really good! Looking at other reviewers with pretty long hours played also tell me its got some good legs for a really low priced game.

Fantastic strategy game especially against online players. Playing this since years on my Android device and purchased for PC to support this great Dev. I hope to see in the near future a new online map.
I bought this during the Steam summer sale for a very reasonable pprice and have been extremly pleased with the purchase. I agree with another reviewer that this game is a little gem. If you enjoy turn based games buy this, you won't regret it.
The Last Warlock is one of those indie games where the small publisher was able to realize a unique and interesting vision.
There's a lot of variety in how you can play. Early in single-player, I was trying to keep and equip a reasonable front and back line of summons: I would keep two zombies (and later, wraiths) around with beat-em-up sticks and shields (and later, scythes, for those undead bonuses) and then have two trolls on the back line hucking rocks and any shurikens I made with leftover steel. Later, as mobility become more and more important, I started instead summoning a flying mount and pimping out my own archery skills. Once I found the materials for a bow, I would fly around on my griffin strafing land-bound opponents and then resurrecting them as .
The levels are entertainingly designed and always different enough that no one strategy feels like it's inherently better than the others. Flying mounted archers are very strong, but the fact that you have to craft or plunder ranged weapons balances them out a bit, and I suspect mounts are less OP in multiplayer where the enemy can focus them down. You always have multiple objectives and limited time to complete them (kill the enemy warlocks, get all the gems).
Verdict: A hidden gem! Incidentally, you're going to be looking for a lot of those!
Excellent game! Interesting puzzles, spells, and crafting options - and nice tactical considerations (I really like it being turn based instead of real time - and like the nods to the old classic Lords of Chaos).

Nice dungeon crawl similar to Trove, Strategy is a must, I like the crafting and summoning advancements. Learned quickly to allocate xp for new spells then skills, overall a fun game.
Sweet UNIQUE game... The graphics are very simple BUT the RPG elements and depth in strategy are fantastic especially when playing againt others. Multiplayer is available but still not too many players on board, more multiplayer maps. I would recommend the game for the price and enjoyment factor. Although the game has a simplistic look, it doesn't seem to have any bugs which is great and makes for smooth gameplay. Music is fun too!
Has a nice minecraftian feel to it. The visuals and effects can always be upgraded down the road. The game mechanics are fun and suprisingly indepth. Have logged almost 9 hrs on it so far in just campaign mode. No glitchs or errors to speak of. I'm enjoying leveling up my guy to cast new creatures and spells. I paid $7.99 for it, you can't beat that deal. I can see alot of potential for growth in this game if the players show up to support it.
This game has the look and crafting of Minecraft with the game play of the classic game Lord of Chaos. Both the single player and mutliplayer modes are very enjoyable.
Cool ideas but overall slow pace and boring minecraft graphics spoiled the experience for me.
I think here the minecraft graphics were a crutch for a turn based strategy game that seriously lacks personality. The mechanics themselves are pretty basic. Overall it's just not very interesting. Seems like more of a prototype than an actual game.
