An absolute gem of a sequel, out of all the HoMM nr 3 still hits the hardest in the entire series (So far...here´s hoping for older era....)
Dont buy. I get nostalgia and all but this almost unplayable. It has not changes to make it more pleasant to play, it has no dlc no patch nothing. Its like playing a game in alpha but from 1999. Try homm 5 instead, better graphics and everything homm 3 has homm5 will do it better. Trust. Dont buy this trash!
This new made HD version just doesnt keep up to the old version.
In siege fights most moats just doesnt work, no random map creater, a lot of missing maps from the pre choices, a lot of mechanics just doesnt work the way they are supposed too.
Better buy the old version or the fanmade new ones.
The nostalgia of playing this game when it was new attracted me back to the game in 2025.
It has significant challenge and replayability but it does suffer from being a bit of a drawn out grind as you level multiple heroes across the map. Town management and resources are simple, but external farms have to be visited resulting in a bit of a tedious situation.
I love animation, strategy and tactick. All of them are in Heroes.
Its been about 13 hours I played this games, at first it really makes my nostalgic era been amazing, but then I found the bug on game when I have to re-visit the object like windmill etc. It really annoying, especially when in the combat situations. Cant find the fix issue on the forum/community. May be i just want to refund

Unfortunately i realized way to late that this is not the complete version of the game and it's not worth it to pay more than other sites just to play the game in HD but missing the expension.
It's honestly a great game tho!
Great turn-based strat game with a medieval fantasy flavor.
I earnestly hope that the two expansions can get the same love this did. As advertised: It is the core vanilla game only, but if you're a major fan of the old days, here it is. Sometimes you love something so much you can play it again and again, and I know I do.
I bought this before i knew about complete edition on GOG.
Honestly the only positive thing i can say about this is that it reminds me of my childhood where my family owned Restoration of Erathia, while the afterschool i went to had the Complete edition. So i would get a small taste of the "good shit" at afterschool only to go home and be frustrated that i couldn't play Conflux.
......actually scratch that, this is more like negative nostalgia.
Anyway, don't give Ubisoft your money. Especially not for this cash-grab rush-job piece of hot garbage.

We all know this is a classic and an epic game so yea it is not bad to buy when on discount, but lets all face it, it is better to get the og complete collection and get the hd mod. An then u have some great mods, like the Horn of the Abyss and In the Wake of Gods
What a banger. This is always playable in between, solo, local multiplayer, online multiplayer, random scenarios, campaigns, you name it. Played as a child and will always be installed.
The game is great. But the HD Edition is crap with bugs and unfulfilled promises

One of my all time favorites (: So much fun to have an HD version! A lot of reading, thinking and planning, so if you like it more challenging and exciting I would totally recommend.
This is my favorite game of all time! No problems playing on Steam. I wish somebody would revive it for other gaming systems and platforms, but for now Steam works great.
Now I do not know how many hours we have played this back in the 90's, but this game taught me the basic principles or relativity and strategy. My brother and I, or me and my besties would spend days playing a scenario, trading, backstabbing or ganging up on each other. So with tinted glasses of nostalgia this is 10/10. Now objectively it is still 10/10, visually crisp, great sound effects, enchanting creatures, soundtrack that is easily the most powerful mood setter and management that is still one of the best turn based combat simulators to date. Yes there are some balancing issues (flight, teleportation, city portal and chain lightning) which can exploited, but even they can be overcome with grit and white-knuckling. Overall this game deserves its place in hall of heroes of gaming.
P.S you could not pay me to play as Stronghold.
Heroes® of Might & Magic® III - HD Edition brings back many cherished memories. This was *the* game of my youth, and diving back into it with updated graphics is like reuniting with an old friend who looks even better than you remember.
The gameplay is as magical as ever—exploring the map, planning your strategies, and building your perfect army is just as thrilling now as it was back then. Every turn feels like a little puzzle, and I still get that same rush when I finally capture a key town or outsmart an opponent in battle.
The updated visuals are a nice touch. Seeing the towns and units in high definition made me appreciate how much detail the original game had. It’s not a complete remake, but it’s faithful to the charm and spirit of the classic, and that’s what matters most to me.
Sure, it doesn’t include the expansions, and I wish it did, but even the base game has so much to offer. Whether you’re revisiting it like me or trying it for the first time, there’s a reason this game is a legend in the strategy genre.
Heroes III will always hold a special place in my heart, and this HD edition has made the nostalgia even sweeter.
Everyone who has this game it's because it was part of your childhood. Great turn-based board game, one of the bests. It is a game you want to have in your library just for collection.
The game itself as many others write is not the Complete edition avaiable on GoG for less cash. The game stutters strangely and moats don't work whatsoever in this version. Experienced a few crashes. A lot of hotkeys are also missing. Just get the other one.
Pure classic. Old school art work and nice balance. The pinnacle of the series. HoM&M II is great as well.
Abandonware. The game stops loading a map halfway in later W11 patches and there is no solution. Just buy the original complete edition on GOG and use the available HD mod.
I hope Ubisoft implodes already. Free HOMM from this decrepit company.
This game lacks a lot of extra things you can find in other places online. The expansions are not present as well as some other QoL changes. The graphics are better and smoother, but not worth it.
I don't care that it doesn't have the expansions, graphics are so beautiful in this HD Edition that you get really immersed in the game. These graphics are amazing and in perfect style of the original game, a really great remaster with achievements.
It's craschig like mad. Restartig PC, loading again and chrasch after few minutes/secounds.

Also You cant update it with HOTA mod, witch sole crashing problem.

It was my first part to play in all the HoMM series. And many say it's the best one. But I can speak only for this third HD Edition version of the original game. I loved it. I'm not really interested in turn-based games, but this one could capture me and hold for over 100 hours. Long story short, I recommend playing the game, to discover a classic in case you've not played it yet, remember the good old days if you have. I don't regret the time I've spent here and don't exclude the chance I'll download it again in the future (maybe near one).

Rename your heroes 3 complete (best version) with hd mod folder to Heroes of Might & Magic III - HD Edition delete original folder in steamapps then copy paste to it. Change name of HD EXE (Heroes 3 HD) from HD Mod launcher to HOMM3.2.0 Now you will be able to launch it from Steam as well as trace your time played. FUCK UBISOFT!
this game rocks but i wish the DLCs were included. Buy the complete game on GOG its cheaper and has more content

It's yet another instance of how I'd gladly sell myself into Our Lord and Savior Gabe's slavery - but Ubisoft, being ever gamer haters that they are, do not have a proper HoMM III collection here on Steam.
The HD mode is worth it, but let's face it, in its 25 years of existence the HD mode is something that's been done in modding community and has been done better.
Will leave you wanting more with other DLCs and full-scale mods, as it left me, so I'm off playing the other ones somewhere else until Gabe welcomes me into his slavery with new shiny editions.
I loved this game way back when it first came out. Got it for my first pc, gotta say It is nice having this game in my library to always come back to. Always enjoyable.
I have been playing this on and off for many years & don't know how many times I have bought it. It still holds up after all this time. Kinda like playing solitaire. If playing with another player don't count on it saving both players. It used to work years ago. My 2 sons & I had a great deal of fun playing.

It's a classic gem, and this official HD remaster works well on the latest Windows OS, plus on modern HW as well. So. if you like Fantasy & strategy, give it a try. Since it's turn-based, this is one of the most relaxing game also thanks to the brilliant OST by the talented and well skilled genius composer, Paul Romero, while also the player feel rewarded once successfully build a vast army while level up some great heroes and overcome on every opponents.
Some watch nostalgic films during the times of winter holidays, I like to play time to time this good old gem during the winters.
Classic, straightforward fun. Reasonably simple old-school strategy sim, but not too easy. With knights and dragons, you know - old school.

HOMM3 is OLD but I still come back to this game every year. Perhaps it's nostalgia, but the game itself has a lot of charm. From it's stellar soundtrack, retro design, unique and memorable designs, I always revisit this game because it still holds up pretty well. It's entertaining, has a lot of nice nuances that make for good casual and hardcore play. The gameplay is challenging when it can be, and it's a pretty simple game to pick up and go, or resume a long elaborate game.
If this game ever had a visual update I think it'd be unstoppable because it's pretty strong as it is. It's a step up from HOMM2 and adds a lot more depth from its preceding games and still blows the newer games out of the water. I still seem to come back to HOMM3 over any of the newer games, and that's because this one is just so simple to pick up and play.
basically it is close, but it lacks a misc magic item slot on your character, so you cant get some complete items like the 5 piece statue, and you are always gonna be 1 item short on your character that you may be used to in the original game
please don't buy this. It feels like Ubisoft got an unpaid intern to airbrush textures and then sold it with missing features.
Go to GOG it's super cheap on there for like 3 bucks and it's the complete edition otherwise it's an 11/10 game.

get the complete version from GOG for $2 (on sale rn), this version does NOT include any of the DLCs!!
HOMM 3 was an amazing game that I played back in the day.
Games like these bring me back to a time in my life where seriously none of the garbage I have to deal with now existed.
No political correction, no globalism, no fake legacy media, no grooming, no b.s.
This game, however, isn't the game that you can buy on GOG. It is missing episodes and lacks mod support.
You are better off buying the GOG version.

Original HoMM3 as it was released back in a day with a minimal visual enchantments and support of high resolutions. No expansions, no random map generation.
There is only one reason to buy this version: you want to play on Deck and don't want to bother with the Complete edition installation. Even then, I recommend to wait for a good discount: they didn't even bother to add the workshop support for an easy custom maps download or cloud saves to keep your scores and campaign progress. It's as lazy and cheap as it gets. I bought it with a 75% discount.
Do yourself a favor and buy the Complete edition.
It's defo not the original HoMM III as we all know and love,
BUT, it is the closest thing to the original we can get.
It's not that easy to mod this game as the OG version was, but still you can run HDE mod,
And lets be real, that is kinda the only mod you'd run on OG anyway :')
Maps you can get to work with a bit of editor and such, so to be fair, the people who complain about it, are just a bunch of lazy b*st*rds :*
Worthless edition, i have played for 5 minutes and found out that some basic components were not implemented into this version, from original, no possibility to buy not-upgraded units after upgrading a building. The space key does not work on world map, and i guess much more... I think this game was created by a single fan who had forgotten about a few key functionalities.
Classic game of course. Love it. But no available expansions yet. This means some artifacts aren't available like like the Armageddon Blade or combined artifacts. I will look forward to the expansions if they become available.

Still holds up well to this day.
Its annoying that I cannot generate random maps. :/ I seem to remember spending a lot of time doing so years ago... not sure what the issue is.
