Bloo Kid 2

Played this game since release (on a different type of device) and now i want to 100% the game

Quite the fun nostalgia trip. I first played this game back when it came out on the 3DS, but I never finished it because of that bloody cart ride. After finding out this one re-released on Steam, though, I gave it another try and finally bested it!

This game is pretty tough, even on easy difficulty you're probably gonna die at least five times. This one certainly isn't for the faint of heart, but at the same time it's nothing on the same level as N+.

Oh yeah, graphics music and controls. All good. There are serious screen tearing issues on larger displays, but playing in Windowed gets rid of them. If you want it to be larger at that point, use the Magnifier. I'm dead serious, it works.

Ultra simple mario-style platforming with no run button, no sliding, no picking up anything. You walk slowly through each level and double jump around. Boss of the first world is an almost shocking 1:1 clone of whispy woods. Sound effects are all shrill SFXR fare.

Just doesn't have the sauce it needs.

Really only get this for nostalgia. The levels can be pretty fun sometimes, but certainly not always, and some of the challenges are annoying as heck. Has a few annoying platformer features like not always seeing where you're landing or where you're jumping to, getting hit by enemies off screen, etc.

I used to play this game all the time on my 3DS and playing it like 2-3 years later on PC gives me so much nostalgia, This game is really fun with its Platforming, Abilities/Power-Ups, Boss Fights, Story, Worlds, And secrets, I would recommend this to anyone who likes 2D-Platformers, Or honestly anyone else, This game is so much fun and its an absolute blast, Plus its extremely cheap!

This definitely does a decent job at mastering the feel of a more retro platformer game. It has sounds, music, and graphics that go well together, and the level design is usually pretty good. Even with the low amount of total levels, there is plenty of replayability, as there are several goals to complete for each level.

Alright, with the basics out of the way, let me just say this. There are so many games that will have a set number of levels, then a 'tower' or a 'castle'. It gets really repetitive, really quick. But this game doesn't do that. Yes, it has a set number of levels with some intermissions, but they aren't the same thing every time. For every world there is something different, something new. (It's great)

Unfortunately, this game suffers from some visual issues. First of all, the camera is atrocious. It's slow, and going back and forth for 3 seconds is enough to get you a headache. There's also a glitch where some textures will be 'choppy'. I believe the technical term for this is called 'screen tearing'.

Overall, pretty good game, just with a few small issues that you could probably ignore.
My final verdict is an 8/10 [Good]

If you are a fan of platformers then you will absolutely enjoy this game, I love the secret laden level design and the fun bosses. It has provided me with many hours of entertainment

Really good game, able to play it nonstop. Great graphics, sound, and gameplay. If you're a completionist, you might want to check this game out, since there is a lot of content to go through. Totally recommended.

Absolutely wonderful game that even my 4 year old can have fun with. I've bought 2 copies of this game for mine and my kids' account. I really hope there's a sequel and there should be more games like this.

Honestly, just play something else

Bloo Kid 2 is a rock solid retro 2d platformer. The make or break of any platformer is the controls and this game passes with flying colors.

In addition to completing the level there are 6 additional challanges for each level;

• kill all the enemies
  
• collect all the stars
  
• collect all the hidden blue stars
  
• collect the balloon at the end of the level
  
• finish in under the special time
  
[*]finish the level with 3 hearts

If you are looking for an SNES like platformer experience, this is it.
It's worth every penny!
The music is great, so is the level design.
The pixel art is simple yet colorful, and a major plus is the
controller support!
This is the Super Mario of Steam!

Bloo Kid 2 has great music, nice graphics, and tight controls. But I just didn't find myself enjoying the levels (I made it through about 2 of the worlds) or the enemies. But for the price--especially on sale--it might be worth a look if you are fan of platformers and want to try something new.

Have the most Total Stars in nightmare mode on Bloo Kid 2! Everybody is so impressed by my awesome skills. The day when I took the record, paparazzis were everywhere, girls are screaming and companies wants to sponsor me with millions of crowns (Swedish currency).

After 5 whole hours I felt exhausted. All the pressure I got from all over the world was to much. My Bloo Kid 2 skills wasen't like it use to be, like when I was younger.

I started to do heavy drugs as Coffe and Candy,when I realice that my life was so much more to live for.

So I leave my past and start thinking about the future goals in life. Because if you always dwell on the past, you're probably not going to reach new goals and have awesome adventures in life.

Har flest Total Stjärnor i mardröms läge på Bloo Kid 2! Alla är så imponerad av min fantastiska skicklighet. Dagen då jag tog rekordet, paparazzis var överallt, tjejer skriker och företag vill sponsra mig med miljontals kronor (Svensk valuta).

Efter 5 hela timmar kände jag mig helt slut. All press jag fick från över hela världen var för mycket. Min Bloo Kid 2 skicklighet var inte som den var förut, som när jag var ung.

Jag började ta starka droger såsom Kaffe och Godis, när jag börja komma på att mitt liv är så mycket mer att leva för.

Så jag lämnar mitt förflutna och börja tänka om framtidens mål i livet. Därför om du alltid ältar det förflutna, så kommer du troligen inte nå dina nya mål och ha fantastiska äventyr i livet.

It’s a platformer for platformers’ sake.

It’s completely generic, almost artistically so, but at the same time I found nothing objectionable whatsoever. That’s kind of impressive.

No gimmicks, weapons, or special moves… just you and your double-jump. It reminded me of 90s-era Apogee games like Commander Keen for its art style and simplistic controls.

The levels are very short, but are collect-a-thons. If you rush through the game on the easiest difficulty, you can beat the whole thing in about an hour. But if you aim for completion, you’ll find dozens and dozens of clever puzzle situations created by devious level design, and they’re quite satisfying to conquer. It can take up to 20 hours to fully complete.

In order to fully complete a level, you must accomplish 6 objectives: collect all gold stars, collect 3 secret stars, kill every enemy, finish with full health, finish under a time limit, and pop a missable balloon near the exit. Thankfully, the game does not force you to do all of these objectives during the same playthrough; you can do them completely at your own pace.

The only things locked by completion are the bonus levels. You’ll never have to backtrack to unlock story levels.

No life limits. If you use checkpoints creatively, you can retry missable objectives indefinitely without playing the whole level over.

No damage knockback whatsoever! It might feel a little awkward at first, but I found it a breath of fresh air.

I’d give Bloo Kid 2 a 6.8 / 10. It was surprisingly fun to achievement hunt. I couldn't put it down, and I feel like I’m going to miss it once it’s over. I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys aiming for 100% completion, whether you’re an achievement hunter or not.

There’s nothing new or revolutionary here, but at the same time I found almost nothing I would consider shoddy or unfair. It uses its simple elements and stage design to convey a ton of creative tricks, both expected and unexpected. I feel like this game could serve as someone’s introduction to standard platform game tropes, and I think that’s really cool.

Takes a lot for me to be really moved by a game but this has to be it. The music, the atmosphere its just gorgeous and I wish there was more games like this and not the utter trash that is found on steam. It gives me such that buzz you get from a real classic nostalgic feeling. Nothing about this game I dislike. It (for me) is absolutley perfect and feel sadness when it nears the end. Thank you devs, I love this game more than anything. If you have a follow up or sequel then I will buy without a shadow of a doubt!

Graphics: 7/10 (Nice and colorful, well animated, but very generic.)
Sound: 8/10 (Sound effects are good, but nothing special.)
Music: 10/10 (Game Highlight! Very catchy and well composed music! Found myself humming along with many of the tunes! World 1's music is a favorite!)
Overall: 9/10 (An enjoyable romp for the price point with nice replayability to achieve Perfect Stars and alternative Difficulties. A personal favorite.)

This platformer is a lot of fun and really captures that old school feel without trying too hard. Good soundtrack as well. Great game for completionists!

As soon as I started playing Bloo Kid 2 I was hooked. The little things like camera movement, parralax backgrounds and chraracter physics make it a pleasure to play. I bought the game whimsically a while ago betting that I'll eventually try it.

I still often find myself booting up the Sega Master System to play Sonic, Asterix, Mickey Mouse, Wonder Boy, Monster World, Alex Kidd and this game really achieves the same experience. I would wager the devs drew from their times playing some of these titles.

I bet that so many more people would play this if they only knew about it.

Great old-school platformer which actually feels more like a throwback to the systems that were more popular in Europe at the time such as the SEGA Master System or Amiga, which is a nice breath of fresh air amongst all the Nintendo-oriented nostalgic games.

Adorable pixel art and some surprisingly good level design and control. I had this on mobile originally (along with the original Bloo Kid, which was more of a "Mario Bros"-like single screen thing) but upgraded to PC to play it with a proper controller and to see the lovely graphics on a nice big monitor.

An absolute steal for the price. Highly recommended.

If you like games like Mario, Kirby, Sonic, etc,. etc., this game is perfect for you. It combines a lot of elements from those games and into this indie package that is so orginail. I love to play it, not just for YouTube, but in my spare time as well. And it runs perfectly on most systems. Would recommend to friends and family.

I would like to see the game get updated soon or a another installement into the series where they add an easier level editor and LAN/online multiplayer.

This is a straight up run, jump, collect the stuff and get to the exit game with a boss at the end of each set of levels. There are several goals for each level such as collect all the stars, kill all the enemies, finish before the clock runs out, etc. There is a single checkpoint about half way through each level.

It is quite fun, and frustrating at times, in a good way. The controls are tight and I have no complaints about the game play.

Two minor points:

1) When you pick up a heart or a power up (or when the power up fades) the whole game freezes while it makes a sound. This is apparently by design and not a glitch. It only last about a half of a second but it throws my timing off and I sometimes get hit because of it.

2) Occasionally, and randomly, the whole game starts chugging and stuttering for a second or two. It doesn't seem to be related to the number of enemeis on the screen. I don't know what language it's written in, but it is possibly just garbage collection. It only happens once, or rarely twice per level and it doesn't usually cause too much of a problem, but is very noticable when it happens.

I've been playing almost two hours and I'm not quite half way through it. It defintely gets tougher and takes longer as you go, and I've made no special effort to complete any of the goals yet. I'm just getting to the exit asap on this run.

This is a port of a mobile game, but it's virtually unnoticable. It plays as well as any other PC game of this type.

Edit: And then I get to the mine cart levels about 3.2 hours in to it and quit. I still had $3.39 worth of fun and still recommend it if you don't mind long, trial and error, jumping from cart-to-cart sequences, but after about 25 tries I have moved on.

Edit 2: I got bored and powered through that terrible cart level. Then a few levels later, there was an even worse cart level (much worse.) I nearly threw my gamepad several times, but I was commited at that point and finally made it and finished the game on normal in 5.3 hours. Probably one full hour of that was the two cart levels.

I don't think the cart levels should be there at all since it's otherwise a straight platformer, but it's still a fun game overall.

Two thumbs up for the minecart levels. One thumb down for bad cloud support (the clouds in world five are no fun and cloud save support seems to be missing).
All in all a very competent platformer, tight mechanics and great level design.
