Positron is a fast paced arcade style game inspired by the classic arcade games of the 80's. Battle against opponents in the Arena, navigate your way out of the Maze, and collect power-ups while avoiding your own trail in Snake.
This modern update to these well known arcade classics combines bright 3D neon visuals, enhanced effects, and super smooth gameplay while enforcing the core game mechanics seen in those original games.
Battle against A.I. opponents or split-screen against friends in the Arena. Fight to eliminate your opponents in deathmatch style battles, set across dozens of arenas.
Navigate complex mazes, find your way to the exit then try to set the fastest time on the leaderboards. Featuring hundreds of mazes split across three distinct difficulties.
Collect power-ups which grow your trail and avoid destroying yourself in Snake. Challenge yourself to survive as long as you can, or compete against a friend in splt-screen multiplayer.
Positron is designed and developed by Martin Caine, as a side-project alongside his full time job working as a programmer in the games industry.
The game is programmed in C++ using a bespoke custom engine, which will also be used to bring the game to further platforms.

Quality game, you can tell this is a passion project. The game is bug-free as far as I can tell.
The higher difficulties can get quite difficult, in terms of speed.
Not my type of game personally, mainly because I tend to get motion sickness (from cars IRL and also ingame), but if that's not something you struggle with and you're a fan of Tron and fast paced racing/puzzles, definitely worth a go, the game works as advertised, it has plenty of levels and the quality is there.
Game's WIP and the dev is working on adding new modes/content.
It's like nothing I've ever played before yet strangely nostalgic. So many lovely details, the way the trails seep into the ground when you reset, the reflections, the synth-music, the colours that seem to become more and more vibrant the closer you get.
It's all really lovely. A great game to pick up and play, put down and pick up and play again.
Perfect lunch-break decompress.
It is nice to see indie games made with custom engines, props to the dev!
I find the experience quite relaxing, while also tempting me to reach the top of the leaderboards.
The game plays well, runs smoothly, and I have no doubt that the couple of bugs I experienced will be corrected quickly.
Nicely done!
Love the retro yet modern look and feel of the game. Its an early access game right now so still a lot of polish work to do, but it is fun and addicting to want to beat other players times. I'm enjoying it now but also looking forward to the future updates.
This is a pretty fun game! very simple and straight forward. Currently only has a puzzle mode (Other modes are coming soon for now) and needs a bit more polish especially in some of the UI. Otherwise the game itself is very smooth and bug free.
Quite a simple game on the surface but gets addicting once you strive for the fastest time on the leaderboard. Looking forward to seeing how it develops over time!
My observations/critique: graphics look great but reflections can sometimes confuse me (whether there's a wall there or not) but I'd guess can be used to.
I've liked the levels that require more mechanical skill to reach the fastest time, not so much the levels that can lead you in to a dead end 20-30+ seconds in. I also expected the "quick" maze levels to be shorter than 20-30+ seconds.
Other than that I've liked the presentation and music, reminds me of a few other retro games!
Very addictive, constantly wanting to improve my score until i'm on top of the leaderboards. Plenty of game to play barely scraped what is already present. Look forward to the future game modes.
Game is crazy!!! Only played for a bit, but totally reminded me of Tron or the MGS VR Missions. The levels look easy, but they are not. I only got to level 4, seems like there are a ton of levels. Works perfect on the Steam Deck, very well optimized. Worth playing.
Worth every penny. Looks great and plays even better. Simple controls. You just need to remember which ways you have tried! Frustrating but makes you play again and again.
I've been waiting for this game to release for 8 years...
I wont say that its everything I wished for BUT,
this game is dope, for now there is only single player mazes with a couple of vehicles to pick from. But a ton of maps! It's Deff not a game you can binge for hours but its a vibe!
Looking forward to multiplayer and going against sweaty people and people teleporting in front of me cuz of latency would unironically be fun!
A beautiful game with a lot of potential. The visuals are convincing and the game is running smooth. A few improvements like faster vehicles, an options menu, and a level tracker would be a good addition to the game :) Overall i enjoyed my first minutes playing!
Been waiting for this one for a while. So far so good, enjoyable and runs well, could definitely use an options menu though as the music is way too loud, otherwise very nice I look forward to future updates :)
