Gaming connoisseur, always on the lookout for hidden gems
Stumble upon Almightree: The Last Dreamer on a late-night Steam exploration
Oh boy, let's give this a whirl.exe
Boot up the game
Expectations: Skeptical
Reality: Mind blown
Graphics: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The visuals are so crisp; it's like my monitor had a pixel makeover. Every leaf, every branch, it's like Mother Nature learned how to code.
Gameplay: ⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️
Puzzle platformer that challenges the noggin without making it explode. The controls are smoother than butter, and the puzzles are more satisfying to solve than convincing your cat to take a bath.
Story: 📖📖📖📖📖
A tale as epic as my grandma's lasagna recipe. I'm genuinely invested in this world, and that's saying something because lasagna is no joke.
Music/Sound: 🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
The soundtrack is the real MVP here. It's like having a symphony of angels serenading me while I traverse through this dreamy adventure. I'd buy the soundtrack separately if I could.
Difficulty: 😅😅😅😅😅
It's challenging but not "throw my PC out the window" hard. Keeps you on your toes like trying to sneak into the kitchen for a midnight snack without waking up your roommates.
Replay Value: 🔄🔄🔄🔄🔄
I usually move on faster than a cat distracted by a laser pointer, but Almightree has me coming back like my favorite comfy chair. It's a whole new experience each time.
Devs: 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
These guys are like wizards, but instead of turning people into frogs, they turn lines of code into pure gaming magic. Hats off to you, magical coding wizards.
Overall: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Almightree: The Last Dreamer is the hidden gem you didn't know you needed. It's like finding a ten-dollar bill in your pocket – unexpected, delightful, and makes you want to tell everyone about it. 10/10, would dream again.
INT. MIDORIYA'S LIVING ROOM - DAY
All Might and Midoriya (Deku) are seated on a couch, surrounded by gaming equipment. Almightree: The Last Dreamer is on the screen.
ALL MIGHT
(Muscularly) Alright, young Midoriya! It's time for a gaming session!
DEKU
(Excited) Oh, I've heard good things about Almightree! Let's do this!
They start playing the game, All Might takes the controller with a flourish.
EXT. ALMIGHTREE - IN-GAME
ALL MIGHT
(Enthusiastically) Ah, Almightree! This must be a game about me, the Symbol of Peace! Fighting crime, saving the day, the whole shebang!
DEKU
(Smiling) Well, actually, All Might, it's more about a magical tree and a dreamer trying to save their world.
ALL MIGHT
(Nodding) Ah, a metaphor for my heroic endeavors, I see! Let's dive in!
They navigate through the game, encountering puzzles and challenges.
DEKU
(Chuckling) All Might, it's not all about punching and smashing. There are puzzles and strategy involved.
ALL MIGHT
(Grinning) Ah, puzzles! A hero's keen intellect is needed to solve them. Just like me, always thinking two steps ahead!
All Might's character in the game encounters a majestic tree.
ALL MIGHT
(In-game) Aha! The Almightree, I presume! Fear not, dear tree, for I am here!
DEKU
(Laughing) All Might, it's more like the Deku Tree's distant cousin – the Deku Tree of the gaming world! 🌳😆
ALL MIGHT
(Chuckles) Well, even the great All Might can appreciate a good pun on Deku's name!
They continue playing, All Might enthusiastically commenting on every heroic action.
DEKU
(Smiling) All Might, it's not everything about you. The dreamer has their own journey.
ALL MIGHT
(Reflective) True, true, Midoriya. Even heroes need to let others shine.
They finish the game, All Might with a satisfied expression.
ALL MIGHT
(Excitedly) What a thrilling adventure! Almightree: The Last Dreamer, a testament to the indomitable spirit of heroism! 🌟💪
DEKU
(Laughing) Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it, All Might. Maybe the next game will be about you directly.
ALL MIGHT
(Smiling) One can only hope, Midoriya. Until then, Plus Ultra!
They fist bump, the screen fades out.
FADE OUT. 🎮💪😄🌳
(Verse 1)
He ventured far from the pixel city,
Headed to the game's westmost coast.
Leaving the levels he conquered,
Like they were just a glitchy ghost.
And he climbed the Almightree,
Puzzles to solve, wild and free,
Ready to game again,
To let the power-ups flow.
(Chorus)
The code dove into the storyline,
As the characters, they jumped and played.
He was a dreamer of the pixels,
With binary in his brain.
And he jumped through the scenes,
Codes in between,
Ready to game again,
To let the quest unfold.
(Verse 2)
Far, far away in the Almightree,
A player in the virtual wood.
He, too, escaped the mundane world,
To the deep, dark and magic code.
With the skills in his heart,
He made a fresh start,
Ready to play again,
We're all part of the game,
And part of the fame,
And ready to game again,
To let the quests unfold.
(Chorus)
Let the four winds blow through the pixels,
As the landscapes, they change and sway.
He's a dreamer of the digital,
With trophies on display.
And he levels up with ease,
Mastering each expertise,
Ready to game again,
To let the challenges grow.
(Outro)
So, in the realm of Almightree,
Where dreams and pixels intertwine.
We're all part of the adventure,
Ready for the next design.
And we play in the streams,
In the land of dreams,
Ready to game again,
To let the stories flow.
Let the four winds blow.
Another game initial impression for ya.
This, I'm surprised I've never heard of before. I'd think something like this would have a pretty strong cult following. It's got the polish and look. Almost like a chibiesque Bastion vibe. It's kind of reminds me a little of one of my favorite game, or at least a portion of it.
The tower levels in, Azura Dreams, look kind of like this insofar as the grid system layout, and if you spend too much time on any one floor it does what this game does where it starts to shake and rumble and eventually the floor crumbles from bellow you. But where that game had Rouge Like RPG, City Builder, Monster Collector, and Dating Sim elements in it this one is a puzzle game.
For $5, for sure worth looking into at the very least.
Almightree: The Last Dreamer is a time-constrained puzzle platformer. On the one hand it've got some nice puzzles, on the other - it did not age well. I would reluctantly recommend it if it's not for rough unresponsive controls. They are awful and really ruin the game.
Very interesting story and pretty fun puzzle game for a novice like myself. I play it on easy because while I like puzzles, I don't do well under time pressure.
You manipulate blocks in an area to progress in a level, with the goal of getting to a tree before the ground collapses under you. As you progress in the levels, they keep introducing new mechanics; new blocks, new flowers.
Very good stuff, only problem I have is the volume is not adjustable; you can either turn the sound/music on or off, nothing in between. I like to listen to youtube videos while I play games so that can be a bit of a problem.
Nonetheless, this is definitely worth a purchase.
A good casual puzzle game where you move on a grid and teletransport blocks around to create the way forward. This is not a game to play if you're looking for platforming action, it's a game to play if you're looking for simple puzzles.
The art style is OK. There is just one song, which while not bad becomes boring over time. Controls could be tighter. Solving the puzzles does not lead to strong sense of satisfaction. It is by no means a must play game, but it is good enough that I can recommend it, especially when on sale.
i love the art style and background but gameplay is terrible, not smooth, camera angle makes it difficult to see the puzzle sometimes and the biggest problem is its not fun and theres way too much discontinuation
What is Almightree ?
I wanted to like this one, it looks nice, the game also tries to do a different gameplay, not your usual spin on the formulaic gameplay loops that some indie titles adopts but sadly its simply not so fun, the gameplay offers no challenge, its just easy, boring and thoughtless, also its not done very well, with environments looking very copypasted and lacking diversity it makes the game hard to recommend.

TLDR: Bastion's Storyline ripoff in Unity engine 2.5D runner. Move blocks around to repair path. Reach endpoint to win. Audiovisually mediocre. Bland and repetitive gameplay.
So you live in a skyworld that falls apart gotta reach magictree because reasons. Game plays mostly like that boring filler part in all third person action adventure in which you gotta do inane platforming to reach the next cool part. Except this is all this game is. Level after filler of climbing up a tile, going down a tile, moving left moving right.
There are sections where the levels offer different paths but since the camera does not allow you to see where you are going you have to pick blind. There is a progression sort of meter at the top but it is not a proper map so no way to use that for orientation either.
The 3D is kind of ugly, the pastel backgrounds look okay but nothing special. You unlock concept art every few levels but it looks like it was drawn by the dev's kids and it is the kind of thing I would not even put up on my fridge if my kids made it.
Finally when you do reach the tree it grabs your arm and seemingly steals your lifeforce to grow while your character, winces in pain, it is kind of disturbing.
Conclusion: There are a lot of higher quality runners out there, Bit Trip Runner 2 is a classic just to name the first thing to come to mind. There is no need for this redundant, derivative title to clutter your library. Removing local content permanently and hiding from library for declutter.
So, the only thing I have to remark, is that the controls coul be a little tighter. Otherwise plays wonderfully.
It's a nice puzzle platformer and with the level makeup in some stages and limited thinking time reminds me of Catherine, just Family friendly.
The style is easy to look at and fun! Without it the game would lose one's attention a lot quicker. and the music is quite enjoyable as well. Alltogether a fun experience. Will probably revisit every so often to try and improve my scores :)
Honestly this is a fantastic value, bought the game at $0.49 but I'd buy it at $5.00 and I'll explain why.
I heard about this game from a niche gamer friend of mine that said this is a nice simple pick up and play puzzle game. I took her word for it and tried it out. I think the art really stands out here, the color pallet, and the graphics options here are very good for a $5.00 game. Each level has a great pace, never felt too short or too long. I like being a dreamer, I can physically move pieces of the world around. All you know about your character is you are the last dreamer, the world is falling apart (literally) and you have to prevent that from happening. There is a little more detail about the story but I don't want to give spoilers. Not enough story for my taste but it I feel it is good enough for the type of game it is. This is defiantly a must play indie game.

Parent Observations
This game is fine for kids
This game has varying difficulty levels
Almightree: The Last Dreamer was purchased for myself and my kids to play the co-operative local play modes.
First Glance - this game looks like it will be fun when I get it configured properly.
There is no settings menu pressing ESC, I didn't find it - I wanted to change the resolution and change the selected monitor but I didn't see a way within the UI to do so, I played it on the other monitor instead of my preferred.
Local play looks like it will be a blast.
If you like a challenge, go for it.
Mostly casual puzzle game that does well enough. Although I can't speak much for how the multiplayer runs, the single player is a fun enough experience worth trying out. It is a 3D puzzle platformer that doesn't get super hard. There are better 3D puzzle platformers out there, but this one can be picked up for $0.49 on
Pros
+ Fun and unique take on puzzle platformer
+ Fitting soundtrack
+ Bright and vibrant colors
Cons
-Lack of story
-Lack of talking animation during voiced scenes (Just kind of bugs me)
Worth the pickup while it's cheap. I wouldn't grab it at full price. I think the game offers 20 levels which for fifty cents isn't bad.

I bought this game as it said it was co-op, but the co-op is only pvp.
The game wasn't bad, not very long, and the ending was not what i discerend from the story i was given...i guess it was a twist.
Overall the game is worth the buy if you get it for like a dollar.
This Jakarta developer found here https://twitter.com/ChocoartsGames likes to put two words together such as 'Almightree' and 'Plantsportation'. Which ironically is fitting for a game which also entwines a number of concepts together too. Its a 3D grid platformer decorated in an artstyle that respects the classic games such as Zelda, Bastion and Catherine. Granted the story doesn't really make a lot of sense. You 'the last dreamer' have to save the world in which you live and which is falling apart literally beneath your feet. Why is everything falling apart? I have no idea. In any case, you need to keep ahead of this quake that threatens your very existence and which has already killed all that you have known and loved.
As the last man standing your given a vision that the almightree (some big badass tree) can save your world as long as you get to all of it's withering saplings (20 of them) and touch them in all the right places and bring them back to life, so that they can pull your world back together again. The sap that you are, you agree and branch off onto an adventure where you must traverse 20 levels which demand that you solve block moving problems while on the run.
The gradual difficulty is well presented here, the first 5 levels literally lets you find your roots in the game, while the other later levels from 13 onwards will send you barking mad and will probably have you stumped at times. There are three difficulty levels easy, medium and hard and I would strongly suggest playing the game hard from onset. As only the toughest difficulty will unlock a further 40+ challenges which also demand your gaming expertise. These stem from levels needing to be done by a certain time requirement, levels needing to be completed with no damage taken, levels being completed with a certain amount of sunspheres collected, and finally levels being completed within the minimum block transportation moves possible.
The puzzle mechanics gradually get harder and harder too, from simple bridging the gap to moving specific blocks so that your shielded from the effects of certain obstacles, such as shooting flowers or electric plants. One false move and you can find yourself in a very serious predicament as you start to feel the ground tremble beneath your feet and the musical score starts chanting that 'danger, danger, run, run, your going to die!' melody.
Before you know it 'TIMBER!' and down you go.
There's also multiplayer, but these are just the same 20 levels randomly being selected. It would have been a nice surprise if the multiplayer had a more random perk to it, by chopping up the levels that we have already played in the single player mode, and delivering them in a more splintering offshoot, with sections randomly jumbled up and maybe even mirrored. This way it would have been more exciting constantly thinking on your feet more, while being pitted against a worthy adversary online.
I would also have loved the game more, if there was more levels and maybe a workshop where we could submit our own creations to enjoy. The game felt like it was just getting started when it suddenly came to an abrupt end. There's a slight teaser at the conclusion of the game that you might not be alone afterall, and a glimpse of an artistic style grid which looks like it could easily be a follow on with new enemies and puzzles needing to be solved, but alas the developer seems to be intent to follow other gaming ideas and seeds that he has in soil, instead of helping this game which seems to be maturing nicely to even be more fruitful than it has been.
In a nutshell, for the price that it is, you really can't go wrong. It was a funallenge, excituzzle timewaster, look at that, I can put two words together too.
Below is a sample its me playing through the first 5 levels. It should be enough of a sample to see if you would enjoy this game.

I picked the game up on sale. The trailer shows you what to expect for the most part, a simple, chill puzzle game. The music is particularly good and the graphics are colorful, along with a story and full voice-acting to make it more than just a points-based game. Simple up,down, left, right controls and some abilities to make the puzzles more immersive and challenging. I'm glad I picked it up.
Game borrows from wide range of sources but the main game mechanics used to solve the puzzles works pretty good. It's not much to look at though.
What I am personally bothered is the steam achievements section. I like having all achievements for the games I completed and dedicating 5-6 challenge to online play seems like a fucked up decision. First of all, no one is there, secondly this is not a multiplayer game perse.
What gives?
Not really a platformer since you cannot traverse between platforms.. the game is strictly puzzle. The core gameplay is very simple, and while entertaining at first it looses appeal quickly based on repetition and lack of any real variation. Some strange design choices.. Recommended for a few hours but ultimately very shallow.
This is maybe the hardest challenge for me this year. To write a fair review here is tough. Because i love this game. Its like most indie games / low budget games simple, but it feels so well thought out. The story is short explained. The world is falling piece by piece. The earth is falling like other games (Bastion) but here you dont fight and the whole world brokes. So you need to finish 20 levels to heal 20 almightrees to give a part of your power to save them and with that hopefully save the world. On this way you get at every level a short pic with a topic like doubts, lost, memories and others, they are simple but i love the atmosphere they give. Its a sad story of a lone walker full with a great heart and the search for hope.
The difficuly changes very well first level 10 are some puzzles to let grow your mind step by step. 10-15 are then normal and last get tougher but never to hard. If you play the levels on easy difficuly no one should be a problem after a few trys and then you can try it on normal or even better hard mode, but its makeable and you find maybe even faster ways, that help for the 45 challenges in this game. Some are speed runs (i got only with 1 problems on level 17 i think, but then their are 44 chalenges left) and 40 i did myself. Some are avoiding plants that hurts or their shoots they do, or pick up a special item or to make the level with a special number of plantations or even under it. Their is no problem like i tell i get 40 of 41 tested for achievement hunters. If you have problems or stuck, the developer will help you with screenshots or hints. He was very helpful to me and extremly friendly and helpful.
I ask him about Bastion, The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, because its all games were most land is vanished or vanishing and he tell me it was a inspiration to them and not only that the mean character looks a bit like Link of TLoZ TWW it makes nearly the same fun, sure some time runs was close and some tries a bit frustration but you grow and when you beat it you are happy in the later levels.
For hardcore gamers are here real challenges to do the challenges on hard or normal mode and dont change to easy mode, so to get at level 20 the most highscore points that are possible or do the challenges its a thing for the best of the best i hope.
At the moment there was 2 bugs, but the developer try to work on it, nothing great, no big problems, the most levels need only 2-3 mins if you stuck in 10 hours 2 times and 1 was at start where i can reload and got only 5-10 seconds lost, its fine. There is no game without failtures, that is perfect in an unperfect world.
Game length is good for achievement hunters 8-12 hours for 5 euros, very well i find, but for people who only play the game on easy mode all 20 levels 1 time its a bit short, so the best is really to like puzzles and challenges and try levels more times on more difficulties, because its not really to hard.
The MP is a nice gimmick if you have a friend with good skills, great reaction and make a head on head match on same skill level if not and you get vs a good one its hard, so best you get a friend to buy it too and make matches. Bad is that you cant vote your level or do something like 2-3 levels in one run but maybe on the next game.
Some weak points too are the slow level select, the first screen of the game you cant skip, you need to go to options to change things, better where you can change it after or between game and start level again but maybe they add it in some time or in the 2nd part i hope that comes 2016 but for this you need to buy and support it, show it your friends that like time-run games/ puzzles and we all hope this little master piece get even better then i find it is now.
So i can just say: SEE THE TRAILER AND PICS of the shopside and then thing about if you could like it and then please support this developer(-team). I give PERSONAL for this low budget production/ indie game 93 % for 9,6 hours of many fun and little frustration, i would even give more, but since their are still some points to get better i stopped giving it 95- 97 %. Maybe i change it later if i dont forget it and the updates do their jobs.
Last: The developer think to add stuff to mp in the 2nd part like goodies from Mario Kart (Banana, Oil, Plants like Super Mario that eats, hold the gamer, use this deko units on the other stage, maybe even a 4th player? Nothing for sure but their are many ideas and plans and i think it hear after a many mutliplayer fun what only Nintendo can do normal. So maybe this view of future helps you to give the developer more investment potencial. THANK YOU FOR READING.
This game is amazing...reminds me of Zelda with the colors, soundtrack, character, controls...but it has it's own identity as a unique puzzle game that challenges you big time. I don't know who made this game, but I want to give them a high five.
Disclaimer: i've just played this game only for 10 level, so it might be some misunderstood in this review.
Overall it's a good game. I think it is worth more than $3 (price when i bought this game). this game reminds me of bastion (but still very different). It is come with original idea of puzzle game. the quality of graphic is good. sounds is good too.
pros
+ simple and easy to learn
+ good graphic
+ good sound
+ good idea of puzzle game
cons
- need more storyline in every new level
at first this game looks like it will provide a good story, but after 10 level, i dont find the continuation of its story (or im not far enaugh to see more storyline ?)
- too easy ?
I chose the hard mode, but I find it too easy to complete the first 10 levels of the game (I do not know how many levels contained in this game) - or, developers did make on purpose that 10 first level is to be solved easily :P
conclusion:
if you are looking for casual puzzle game with nice atmosphere and also good graphic and sound, buy this game.
