I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

I guess I would recommend this game if I wanted to annoy people. The story is ok thus far but there just are some things that don't make sense. Not actually being able to escape from enemies but they have you blocked in is annoying. The miss ratio is horrid. You spending all this mana for jive that continuously misses and these aint even mini bosses or actual bosses. The ratio of weapon effects is terrible too. I'm gonna try to suffer thru it in hopes that Bad Blood is better
Bought this on a whim so can't really complain at a cost of like 49p, so this isn't to say 'Don't play this game', it was a fun jaunt and would've been shorter had it not been for me getting lost on a wild goose chase trying to complete an objective near the end of the game that seemingly has no flag to complete. Also a mini-map and better direction would help - You, the creator or devs know where you're going but telling me to 'head to Raimi' without giving me a direction had me lost for quite a while until I triggered a flag. Direction would have helped. A map would be even better.

2nd Update: Got into a maze/mountain pass that I have to get through, but ran into Chymeras that wipe out the entire party in the first attack. Figured I need to level up a lot more, so headed back and ran into another set of the same creatures and got wiped out again. Now I can't go forward or back. I'm going to try the next part (Bad Blood) to see if it's a better game.
Update: So, I tried again the next day and found a switch/button I had missed and got unstuck. Got through the next two quests without much trouble, thanks to comments in the Aldorlea forum. Moving on, but I would give my eye teeth for some maps!
This is an old game and there was a guide, but apparently the devs' didn't make it available except through their own site which they shut down. So, I'm stuck, can't find an answer to my problem in any forum, and there are NO guides or walkthroughs anywhere. SO FRUSTRATED. I have to quit because I have no idea how to get unstuck.
Just another RPG game that you should probably avoid.
this is a letdown compared to first game. way shorter, and some battles are actually impossible to win, because you're being toasted with one spell. Oh, and in most of these cases you can't even avoid the fight overall, so you just need to get lucky that the enemy won't use it. There are like.... 2 sidequests? also, I didn't find a SINGLE accessory in game, so why even bother with the slot I wonder.

Basic fun. Easy to learn. Good story. Short game time.
If you like 16 bit turn-based RPGs (like SNES era), this should be for you.

If you've played the first one (not needed), this one takes place on another continent and adds werewolves to the political mix of humans and vampires. At least three characters are from the first one, but so far there have been only minor mention of the first game.
Having loved the original 'Ashes of Immortality' so much I can only admit how dissapointing it's follow up is.
The first game excelled because of it's superb storytelling, that was very well paced and dripping with (dark) humour and great dialogues, it was a gem.
It did have some problems like the generic enemy battles (and too many of them) but that was a minor complaint since the overall experience was great.
Ashes of Immortality 2 features other characters but in exactly the same world and personally I think that was a good idea since follow-up games with the same personalities tend to dissapoint since the mistery of the first game is gone, so is the excitement when you meet a new character. Few games pull off a good follow up so I follow their choice there.
However the new lead characters are bland and don't generate the same electricity that the orginal cast did.
You will still meet Orlok & Simona though and even early in the game when you meet them as an NPC in a bar.
The problem with the second game in the series is that they didn't even try the weaknesses of the first game (enemy variety and interiors of houses that could have been better decorated). And with the magic of a strong scenario missing now you end up with a bland, boring game with generic battles against the same enemy most of the time.
On top of that there was a maze where I couldn't get out (possibly due to a bug, had to do with a boulder that I couldn't move and drop in a river) so that was it for me, I didn't complete it but I'm not sad about it because it was just boring.
Obviously the developer rushed this game to benefit from the success of the first game, it's lacking development and although the humour is still there it's missing the spark of part 1, this game is a money grab.
My advice: stick with the first game only.

Comparing to the first game, I tried hard to like it. However, it is a very punishing game. Town are uncrowded, no side quests etc.
The most boring thing was that you have to fight most of the monsters to get through. There is onlyone square to pass, and the monster is there. I was to fight one, they just kicked my back with one spell. WTF really ?
Still, if you have spare time, you can try this but don't expect it to be the same as the first one.

TLDR: Same poor map design, stock visually grating assets and lack of immersion as the first. This time werewolf themed instead of vampires. Initial loredump dialogues are heavy.
Just another series of of small maps where you pick pork chops and kill RPGMaker stock asset wildlife and the occasional monster in poorly designed combat with an amateur plot. Aside from being set in the same universe as the previous game it did not seem all that necessary to have played the first game. There are no noticeable improvements from the sequel however so there is no point in starting the series here either.

Huge downgrade from the first game. The first one had some compelling elements to it, this one looks like a rushed game without any content. It is shorter than the first one, the dungeon are awful and grindy, the loot is nonexistent, there are no rings and amulets in this game like the first one which made the building of characters possible, potion that increase stats are sold for a cheap price(brilliant), the story is awful compared to this first one. Dont even bother if you played and somewhat enjoyed the first ashes of Immortality.

This is the second in the Ashes of Immortality series. It begins with you playing as a young werewolf charged with tracking down a stolen sacred sword and preventing a massacre. Gameplay is similar to the first volume and the plot shares some points with that game.
If you want to see where the tale of the series goes, I would recommend this game.
This actually involves characters that aren't from the original Ashes of Immortality. However, it's still really fun!
Having played the first ashes of immortality I'm pretty disappointed so far. Frankly the game runs really bad on my laptop. THe same laptop had no problem with the first one and obviously the graphics here arent pushing any boundaries.
I'd also appreciate more control options. I know its rpg maker, and those games usually give you really bad options but this is pretty pitiful.
Story and characters seem interesting so far. Going to play later tonight on my desktop. HOpefully that will resolve performance issues.
