To be HONEST, This is not as BAD as other people say it is, but it's existence is questionable at most.. why isn't this included on HL:S or why do i have it when i only brought the orange box
Also it should be considered a federal crime trying to sell this for $9.99 standalone

Sadly a Dead Game, looks visually appealing but glass shatters are out of place in a game like this.
Somehow took 2 years for VALVe to release, and for some reason they made it a seperate game and not an update to HL: Source. Good thing this now becomes included with HL2..
Unlike Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, this actually runs on my PC. (I just built that PC, it has an i5 + RX 5600, don't know why it doesn't work). I think this is more fun anyways because it has more weapons. Servers with 6+ players feel like an active warzone.
I recommend, old deathmatch in the source engine. yummy
One of the closest things Valve has ever released that is total slop. The first time I joined a server in the game, I fell through the map and died, then when I went to join a different server, it crashed 2 times before I actually managed to join a server with only 2 people. Despite the fact that I haven't played much (Mostly because there was no-one playing and the general state the game was in), this game deserves a bad review (DON'T READ WHAT THE POSITIVE COMMENTS ARE SAYING, THEY ARE WRONG AND THIS GAME SUCKS SO GODDAMN MUCH)

Not as bad as people say it is. The game has only crashed a few times for me, and besides that, it's a perfectly fine recreation of Half-Life Deathmatch. 10/10 Great Recreation, play it all the time.

Its a deathmatch. Surprising like 14 people still play the Multipler for Half Life and it's sold for a separate game for some reason. So I will treat it as its own thing. I think its fun and playing with those 14 other guys was dope for a short while. Is it better than Team Fortress 1? Maybe depends want your going for really. Very fast paced shenanigans. really no reason to go back to it unless your looking at franchise history. 6/10
Got it free with Half Life 2, and well, I am not much of a multiplayer guy as I never properly found myself interested in any multiplayer game for more than 2 hours, except for TF2. Still, the 90 minutes I spent with this game were amazing, and i liked how chaotic and fun the multiplayer felt. Like, no obsession over competitiveness or ranking, just people having pure fun and chaos. I even got to see some really good fan made maps, and these are really beautiful. It was a short, but nice time here, and anyone unlike me who are able to find themselves more interested in multiplayer games at a longer duration, I will definitely reccomend this to them, as it was really a fun and often chaotic time.
This game is great. It's the multiplayer portion of Half-Life ported to the Source engine, but unfortunately, hardly anyone plays it anymore. Anyway, this version has a lot of bugs & glitches, but none of them are as annoying as the entity duplication bug. This bug affects almost all included maps, and it makes the game pretty much unplayable. However, there are some community-made maps that aren't affected by the bug. Overall, this game is fun to play with friends or bots, regardless of all the bugs & glitches.

Half-Life Deathmatch: Source is a pretty interesting game to say the least. Sure, it has its quirks and all that, but to be honest. Its a pretty fun timekiller once your used to the chaotic nature of the game. When I first started playing it, I personally didnt know what to expect (Keep in mind, I Havent played a multiplayer shooter in a very long time.). I also didnt know if what type of game this was gonna be (Also keep in mind, I forgot what deathmatch meant).
Upon starting the game and joining a server, I was immediately met with a hail of bullets from G-Man. After getting used to the quick-paced and somewhat chaotic nature of the game, I actually began to like the game. Sure, It wasnt the holy grail of deathmatch games, but once you get into the groove of the game, It turns out to be a very fun game.
While the game may be mostly dead nowadays, and the graphics arent the best, Thats something I dont mind because what the game lacks in visuals, it makes up for in stupid fun! This might be the only game I know of where I can headshot a zombie-scientist, release a fury of bullets onto Gordon Freeman, and get dissipitated by G-Man, All within a minute.
Overall, I'd suggest giving the game a try, it might be something you like.
Its basically just deathmatch Classic but a bit better looking and i think a few more weapons. Also i think it has more people playing it.

im gonna say HLDM:S isnt that bad. sure, its got the hyper-realistic water next to the 3 pixels total rock textures but i like the ragdoll physics.
do i prefer this over the original HLDM? no, but its not as bad of a port as HL:S.

I rigged a room with laser mines and replaced them as soon as someone blew one up and I got 3 or 4 kills. Very fun and janky.
Literally HL2 Deathmatch, but cooler and more older. (Which is why it's cooler)

I got this from HL2 I think, but god damn no one told me that this deathmatch game was so damn scary man, the server I played on said I was dominating and I killed out of straight fear. Mind you, this usually isn't a problem I tend to have in other games, like the original HL1DM. This was fun.

i only killed 1 player then the rest were just immortal or something. i sprayed a guy with 257. bullets 5-10 times and they did not die. this game is so broken valve needs to focus on abandoning the game rather than trying to fix it
