The game revolves around the concept of a procedurally generated maze-like spacecraft which is unique each time, within which the Marines must search out DataCores to be downloaded. The spacecraft are infested with Beasts that are extremely lethal, and the Marines must brave these dark and hostile environments in order to complete the objective of retrieving all critical data and ultimately setting the Reactor core to overload.
Aside from either all purpose automatic Rifles or powerful Shotguns, the Marines initially only have a rudimentary Tracker device that detects nearby motion as well as the distance to the nearest DataCore. The DataCores can however contain lucrative Upgrades that will empower the Marines with better ammunition, a better motion tracker, and other useful functionality that will significantly increase the chances of survival.
Key to managing the unknown spaces within each spacecraft is the intelligent use of Doors, sealing of sections behind the team in order to keep from being overwhelmed from several directions at once. Closing Doors controls the space, but they also make it harder to flee if the need should arise.
Additionally, automated Sentry robots are scattered throughout the spacecraft, and these can be activated in order to further aid in stemming the never ending tide of Space Beasts. Sentries offer a significant amount of additional firepower, and can often be the difference between life and death when the Marines are being overwhelmed. While Sentries are programmed to avoid firing when Marines stray are in their field of fire, friendly fire incidents can still happen.
Once all DataCores have been retrieved, the final objective is to disable all Reactor Coolants in order to destroy the spacecraft. Once this is done the Marines only have 90 seconds to find their way back to the Airlock for extraction before the Reactor overloads, obliterating the spacecraft and everything aboard.
Space Beast Terror Fright employs both procedural level generation as well as a procedurally arranged music scoring. Audio and visuals are all tightly synced to the action in order to deliver a super-intense combat experience that feels like an awesome action movie.
Both local and networked co-op play are supported, with 1-4 players via keyboard / mouse and XBox 360 game controllers. Both local and networked play allow viewing all of the action via split-screen.
If you want to try out a demo of the game you can download a .zip file here: Space Beast Terror Fright Demo. This demo is our original Greenlight submission and does not represent the current state of the game, but it should give you a basic sense of what the game is about. The .zip does not contain an installer, so you might have to manually install DirectX9.0c in order to run the game. See further instructions about where you can get DirectX9.0c at the bottom of this page: nornware.

This game is a Great Game but I hardly ever find a lobby that works and is actually with good players. Every once in a blue moon I'll have a great team but that only ever happens 5 times over the time I played this which is a shame this game is so much fun but is saturated by bad service. If you have friends and I mean close friends pls buy this game! But if u just want to play this solo for fun don't bother. I hate to give this game a not recommend but it's just the technical aspect that kills the joy over this game for me and sadly leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Again not a bad game just bad service.
Theyre in the walls.... THEYRE IN THE MOTHAFUKIN WAAAAAALLLSS!!!
Fun, atmospheric, tense. For fans of Space Hulk, Aliens, and roguelites.
👍
Updates?
I can't really explain it... but this feels like man minesweeper
Really needs a reload button and the ability to jump/crouch IMO. But holy sh*t this game is awesome.
A great game with a ton of replayability
Fantastic game, gets way easier when you learn how to read the map. Would be great with friends but all mine are too afraid :-(
A game with lots of replayability and atmosphere. Very fun with friends, very scary alone. The map variations are fun nods to various sci fi media and the gameplay loop is satisfying. You really feel vulnerable and you almost instantly start acting accordingly. The rules you play by are many, but unchanging, keeping track of your battery, ammo, breaches, turret ammo, etc. Once you get the hang of it, you start to thrive. My favorite detail is that the aliens will occasionally freeze in place, hiding amongst alien fauna, throwing off your motion detector.
When I get my first house and really try to settle into a routine, this game is the first thing I'm doing when my alarm clock goes off in the morning. The Mission of the Day Mode is a perfect way to get wide-eyed real quick, get the adrenaline and endorphins going. This is my short way of saying; if photosensitivity isn't a factor of your health, this game can be healthy for you. I'll leap on the opportunity when the 4-pack goes on sale.
alot of simple fun that allows for different play styles. I'm more guns blazing and kill on sight while my partner is more of a planner and accounts for the map. overall alot of fun that we both enjoyed
who up spacing they terrified beast. fright. simple idea, excellent execution.
Very fun game loop, presents a lot of challenge, but wish there was more variants of enemies, and maybe maps that are multi-level with stairs.
shit ur pants
terrible game havent played it though.
Skulking through technopocalypse hallways with my golem brethren as we breath in the fine red mists that adorn the after party of combat. The astral visage pushing into my skull from the one that turns a corner goes dark violently, and soon the madness kicks in, and I hear the walls buzzing, the air quaking.
I have shit myself, and I am departed.
pretty fun, more so with friends, easy to learn even if the menus are a little confusing at first.
good but hard. should play with others for full experience. game should be priced at $10 or below imo
Before you complain about not being able to see anything, that's probably intentional. Run your mags dry at the slightest inch of movement, and I MEAN dry. There's probably at least 20 more behind that one you just blew to bits.
I own a lot of games and this is still one of the top 5, always come back at least a few times a year to run some fun matches to a great sound track. The guy who makes this put a lot of love into it and it shows.
It does one thing and it does it well. If you don't like it within 2 hours you're probably not going to. Online community is present but very small, you'll want to play at peak times to get a lobby with randoms and everyone plays really well. I never had a player I thought was a real detriment.
blasting aliens is hella fun
Friend recommended the game for us to pick up and add to our array of party titles but...
I'll just advise this here. It can be fun. It can! I can certainly see it.
BUT CHRIST ON A BIKE is the flashing muzzle a serious problem. No graphical options to turn it down, you will go blind if you or your teammate fires their gun (especially if they shoot AT you) and it was so severe both myself and my wife finished 3 maps with severe headaches and refund request.
I would only recommend this game if they provide the option to lessen the brightness of those muzzle flashes because it's a serious issue, even if you're not epileptic you will suffer from the visuals.
on a further note the UI is extremely confusing and difficult to navigate.
More like Space Best Terror Fright. extremely underrated game about shooting bugs, slapping breakers, and either making the greatest escape in your life or having the most glorious death in fiction
The game is full of bugs and issues. After starting the game I encounter the following issues within the first 34 minutes of playing the game:
* The game crashes if I try to maximize the window
* No resolution options
* The integrated video card is selected, no option to choose the dedicated one
* The FOV of the camera jumps back and forth during gameplay, until I find and disable the FOV effects option
* The weapon in the hand of the character is vibrating as the character moves (to a degree where the ammo counter is not legible while moving)
* The game runs really poorly even on the lowest settings
* Default controls are quite terrible and unintuitive
