Experience distinctly new and thrilling first person gameplay as you survive, hunt and prey in the deadly jungles and swamps surrounding the damned colony of Freya's Prospect.
- As the Marine, you'll experience a claustrophobic and terrifying experience where light is your friend, but there's never enough. However, the United States Marine Corps are humanity's last line of defense, and as such they are armed to the teeth with the very latest in high explosive and automatic weaponry.
- As the Predator, you will stalk from the shadows and from above, passing athletically through the treetops to ambush your victims. Although equipped with an array of powerful, exotic weapons and tracking equipment, honor ultimately dictates that you must get in close and take your trophies face to face.
- As the most deadly species in the universe, the Alien offers you the chance to play as the very stuff of nightmares - the monster in the dark swarming forward with countless others, jaws like a steel trap and claws like blades.
- Play all sides off against each other in a series of unique 3-way online modes and go tooth-to-claw-to-pulse rifle in the reinvention of one of multiplayer gaming's defining moments.

Played it way back then when it released on Xbox 360 and also played regularly throughout the years and it really is a solid game. Each campaign has its own flavour that depict each species perspective and the human is a Survival horror experience, as you would expect lol.
It's a good game, play it. I will play it again now after this review.
worth every penny, waiting for the remastered edition
My review is most likely nostalgia driven but this game is utter peak
7/10
The game is cool. Pretty outdated in some places but still very good.
Wish there would be more games like this
like despite the gliches, it would be nice if the revamped it a bit the xeno climbing cam is a bit buggy
Bit buggy but its a great game to revisit every now and again
there was an issue getting the game going. but after the tweaking it works like a dream. haven't tried the multiplayer, and there is no steam cloud. but overall worth the purchase
Very fun game, always wanted to play it, bit sad that I can never find anybody online though.
3 different campaigns with unique mechanics, story, and challenges. Who does that? Its like making three different games in one. Metacritic doesn't know what they are talking about by giving this game a 64. Then again most of those "professional critic" reviews on any site tend to boil down to "Im bad at the game therefore the game is bad." I gotta recommend getting this game, if just for the AVP nostalgia. What other game set in this universe will let you play as the Predators AND the Aliens, and not just the soft squishy humans? You can play as them too, of course. Because this game is awesome, and wants you to have fun.
If you're looking at this and wondering "But - is it worth it?"
The answer is yes.
It's a meh game that i got by mistake cause my wife tought it was the legendary AvP 2
10/10 game, it's really good! (Don't play as alien if you get motion sick easily)
this game is an all time classic that i revisit every couple years. playing as the aliens or predators is extremely fun and you feel like an apex predator, and playing as the marines has you on edge most of the time. the game also holds up graphically in my opinion. this game needs a remaster/remake ASAP!
classic game! lets bring online back! :)
if game crashes and goes black put ur game to directx11 and verify integrity of files
it is fun and hard with nice grafics
One of the greatest games made. Rebellion, please revive this franchise for the love of GOD.
i love this game. My first time playing it was on the 360 after i rented it from blockbuster for a few days as a teen. Its an amazing game, and while the multiplayer is mostly dead, you can still find a server match if you are lucky. besides, the content for the campaigns and the co-op/single player wave survival you can do as a marine is pretty fun too.
I like that it allows you to play from all 3 species POV, but what I don't like there isn't more to the game it's such a good game.
Alright Campaign (There's 3), good PvP but needs getting used too. A remastered version would be amazing!
Its a classic. meets all expectations considering how old it is
I loved this game back on the 360 when it came out, it still holds up today. Some would say that the older PC only AvP games were better, I do agree, but this one is still very fun to play, looks and sounds great and has no performance issues or weird graphics problems. We really didn't know how good we had it in 2010!
The game is really fun and I think everyone should play it. it's cool asf and its good for recording for youtube
Still a fantastic game all these years later, it definitely holds up! The mechanics for the Alien and Predator in particular are still super unique and innovative, I just wish we had full length campaigns or stand alone games with similar gameplay.
It also plays extremely well on the Steam Deck, even with all the graphics settings on maximum! You just have to launch the game in desktop mode first to close the text file that opens after booting it up for the first time, and switch to gamepad mode in the controls settings. After that it plays pretty much the exact same way as it did on the Xbox 360!
If you're a fan of Aliens versus Predator, and their respective franchises, this is a must play! Just be aware that the multiplayer mode has since run its course, but the singleplayer campaigns are one-hundred percent worth it!
great game love how you can play all three perspectives
The Predator campaign is soooooooooooo cool. I felt like a kid sitting right next to the TV playing PS2 with my mouth wide open, completely hypnotized. Looks and feels a lot like the first F.E.A.R. and Dead Space. Linear, but still awesome.
The game is just genuinely unplayable. Doesn't run on steam at all. Completely just breaks the game itself with not even allowing you to click onto anything. if you do, it'll kick you out of the game while it's still running in the background and will not let you go back into the game without it completely breaking steam and just shows a small screen of the game.
I love this game. Remember playing this when I was young. Enjoyed it, as I played through each campaign, along with the multiplayer. but, with it being on steam, as such, this game is completely broken and unplayable, as well with Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. Such iconic games to be ruined by steam and not be fixed whatsoever. I recommend not even paying for this game unless you figure out a solution to this problem. Not even worth spending money on it while the game is on discount.
The only things I regret was spending $3.74 and believing I could jump into this game to feel nostalgia, to run through each campaign, feeling like a little child again when I first played this on Xbox... Shame.
Campaigns are all great even though the maps are repeated. The marine campaign is exactly what you think it is unless your thinking about colonial marines then its 10 times better. squashing bugs while taking down utani and get to fight a predator along the way. While the alien can make you motion sick and the predator can give you a headache from all the camera bobbing you can easily get through it with experience but if you cant try an fov patch to help out. Survival is fun and is a great way to just chill out and squash some bugs. Multiplayer while it can be good is complete ass. its half alive and the only way you can consistently get into game is through discord. once your in a match though you better pray that nobody is a sweat cause you wont have ANY fun after that. The marines have the sniper that two taps everything and the predator and aliens just have to heavy spam. Unless your playing a full match with just friends don't play it and if you want to 100% all achievements legitimately without friends don't even dream about it.
Aliens campaign: Pretty underwhelming. It does have some cool executions though.
Marine campaign: First half is pretty tense. Great atmosphere, gunplay is solid. It still looks decent graphically. Aliens feel really crunchy to shoot. Melee system is interesting and i like the dismemberment system. Flamethrower is completely useless, shotgun is decent, pulse rifle is also good, but i wish the grenade launcher had better aoe damage. Sniper rifle is good too. Second half is not as great, i prefer killing aliens over androids. The fight against the predator is hilariously easy.
Predator campaign: The predator looks fantastic. Really not a fan of the core gameplay for this campaign. Early on you feel super weak. The only two weapons worth using are the shoulder turret and spear. I don't like how you have to charge your battery.
Conclusion: The game is not as good as I remember. In my opinion the only worthwile campaign is the marine one. I can see people liking the predator campaign if you're into stealth. The alien campaign feels like an afterthought.
This game is every bit worth the 15 dollars it costs, even more so if you get it on sale. This is not only a good game by itself, but this is one of the best alien games. The marine campaign is kinda short but you also have the predator and alien campaigns. Its a really good game.
This game is everything that is wrong with modern game design. Everything is scripted and boring, even movement such as jumping is restricted to predetermined jump points as the predator. I didn't even bother to try out the other two campaigns. If you're interested in this because you liked the original AvP game, don't bother as none of the things that made the original fun are in this one.
Love this game. But it takes too much work to get it playable on Windows 11. Had to go through and use "Run as Admin" and compatibility mode/Win 8 just to get it working. But as soon as something interrupts your game, like another window popping up or tabbing out of the game, it wigs out and refuses to work, forcing you to restart it. Can't recommend it in it's current state. Even on a steep sale.
This game i would say one of the best games i played but there is a problem and that problem is Judgement player's look a the oh it's a dead game its probably Oh it's a bad game probably if it has almost zero players and no one buys its like life if you don't have no friends and look ugly no one will want to be friends with you because they think that you are a jerk because you look ugly but if someone tries something for the first time it will be a 50% that that person will like you and be friends with you or they will not be friends with you and think that you are a bad person and start making rumors about you and you just don't friends
Graphics? Mid
Controls? Jank
Story? Good
Missions? Fullfilling
Collectibles? Ok
Final Grade? 20/10 Perfect Flawless Game, 100% recommend!!
Alien, Predator, and Marine are ALL fun to play as.
AT THE FIRST PART OF THE GAME WHEN I TRY TO KILL SOMEBUDDY ON THE CILING IT LOGS ME OUT
Excellent game. Also runs on steam deck despite being listed as "unsupported". Just open the game in desktop mode, close the text window that pops up, and return to game mode. It'll launch normally after that. I just wish people still played the multiplayer.
I fucking loved this game because it was so special and the gameplay was amazing.
Marine gameplay: it was boring the first 2 missions then it became more interesting and enjoyable because of the whole story and gameplayt itself. It had some horror moments ngl when u just got jumpscared by an Alien or something like that, kinda gore too so it was nice for a videogame
Alien gameplay: It was really special cause not a lof of games have the "future" or "option" to play as the "villian" normally it's some boring crap but being able to play as an Alien it was really nice. The most fun part was the "hunting" and by this i mean when u climbed onto a wall and then just jumped into someones head and eat it or something ( not as gore but still nice ).
Predator gameplay: This has to be my favourite story out of all 3 cause i just like the "Predator" character and I do not know the lore or watch to many stuff about Predator but in games it's really special when it comes to combat especially or stealth. It was really fun having to defeat both the humans/robots and aliens as i did with the other 2. Combat was lovely and Predator was the more gore out of all of them being able to rip someone's head off with his spine too so yeah it was grate.
But the most special part for me as a story game lover it was that you get to play 3 different stories in which each character ( marine, alien or predator ) has they're own "win" of the whole mission. Not a lot of games have multiple stories in just 1 game.
GG's
If some video games this game again but new and more levels but what would like is if someone made a survival but instead playiny as a human but as a Alien or a Predater too and I would like a game just like this one but AVP 2
Good game, but too console oriented with its lock-on mechanics and movement, so 2001's AVP2 remains the peak of the series.
I really want to like this game, but I can't. Not in good conscience.
Back in 2010 this game was not well received and in 2025 I can see why. Imagine a good game, but some douchebag hacker (or management executive) decided to worm into the files and start removing critical components and you will have AvP 2010.
Campaigns (spoilers for a 15 year old game)
AVP in general was never really about the story. I concede that. Aliens break free, Predators go "bet!" and a bunch of humans die before you care to memorize their names. It's a scifi horror story first and this game is no different. This less than 18 hours is where you will have your most fun.
Marine
The true sci-fi horror experience. Run around shooting for your life running low on ammunition and listen to your motion tracker. It's all very nice, but it's more alien centered than predator and while you do fight one eventually (great fight) that's it. The last few missions you're fighting combat androids which to be frank are just really durable humans. I didn't buy this game to fight combat androids. If you thought marines were irrelevant in the Alien vs Predator series....Controls like a basic fps, but you do get a single melee attack to stun opponents that get to close. You get a sniper rifle, shotgun, flamethrower, pulse rifle, smartgun, and a pistol throughout the campaign. These weapons are horribly balanced and you'l find yourself moving to the sniper rifle and shotgun. (Turns out fire is NOT effective against xenomorphs. It makes them WORSE. They will tank that shit and only after a good 30 seconds of flaming them will they STILL crawl to you and then fucking explode and kill you. )
Alien
Very fun. Play as a xenomorph. Terrorize stupid humans. headbite em, harvest em, stick your tail up their asses. Walk on any surface. Do be mindful of it though as moving across the surfaces too fast will cause motion sickness. A bit of a learning curve, but by the time you're fighting the predator, again a single level of fighting them, you are a pro. Shortest campaign. Queen dies WAY to early and you only really get to play as "6" who is a xenomorph that can turn into a queen.... despite clearly not being a praetorian.... Don't think about it. Can't really play as a facehugger, chestburster, or queen so you don't really experience the hive, just the individual standard drone (that again can just turn into a queen *angry nerd noises*).
Predator
Despite having the most overpowered arsenal in the game, also has the hardest campaign out of the three. Most of your weapons are not given to you and you have to earn and in addition half of those weapons require energy pickups or give away your location. Much like the marine, weapon balance is horrible with certain things outclassing others. Your cloak only sorta works, no better than the xenomorph just being a xenomorph, and of all the races you will be dealing the most with the melee system (heavy>block>light>heavy) and the jumping system (lshift+spacebar to LoS approved spot), both of which are hated. All in all the controls are very technical and clunky. There's got to be a simpler way to do this. You do have the most informative narrative though as you get the best explanation of what is going on with this campaign.
All of these campaigns have collectibles (royal jelly, skull belts, audio dialogues) that the game encourages you to collect them all. There's many guides for doing this. I don't know why, because THERE ARE NO REWARDS FOR COLLECTING ALL THE COLLECTIBLES. No multiplayer skins, no new weapons, no secret levels, no critical lore development. You get a steam achievement and if you play marine you can hear some literal who's ramblings about how scawy everything is. If you play games for the sake of getting achievements, you are likely the same kind of idiot who would unironically buy NFT's as both are worthless PNG's that you invest copious amounts of time and energy in. Nobody cares.
"Multiplayer".
I have SEVERAL bits of anger toward "multiplayer", Which for the sake of this review will be covering everything that's not campaign.
-NO SINGLEPLAYER SKIRMISH MODE If you want to just play on your own and get a feel of the game you can not just load a deathmatch map with AI bots to practice like most deathmatch games. Multiplayer is multiplayer, you must be playing with other people.
-As of 2025 most of the multiplayer community is gone and all that is ever really played is interspecies DM where you have a predator, 2 aliens, and a marine team up to gank you. Say goodbye to loreful battles as this is essentially CoD with a AVP mod. Even if you can stomach this the matches will be really small.
-may or may not have a hacker problem.
-The remaining six dudes you'll be playing multiplayer with have all decided to NOT play those dlc maps you think are cool. Because reasons.
-Predators must hunt for their weapons across the map. While I get why they did this you are literally bringing a knife to a gunfight, at least marines got a pulse rifle and aliens have no handicaps whatsoever.
-game has the audacity to give a rank skin system and not include all the skins. Preorder skins will need to be hacked to get to. Not that they are worth it. You can't even buy them in a collectors edition.
-survival mode is literally you being marines fighting hordes of aliens. That's it. Aliens don't even change up composition...its the same....mapset...with more of the ...same.....enemy... You can play it alone though so there's that. If you want to use your dlc you will do it here.
All in all I find that this game either had good ideas that were slashed by some higher up or the game was just rushed. I will give credit where it's due as this is the best LOOKING AvP game on the market, but I would give some of the other games a try. (Many of them are so old now that they're free! :) ) This one needs a "modern" dev team to look at and touch it up a bit. Zero retention beyond campaigns
HOW TO FIX AVP 2010
-Allow bots to be implemented in multiplayer matches if not allow a skirmish version of multiplayer. They don't have to be 1000iq bots, nothing is going to compete with a player, but what was given in the campaign will suffice. I would like an attempt.
-rebalance weapons of marines and predators. tweak a few numbers. Not everything has to instakill for the sake of balance.
-streamline predator controls.
-include more features in the command prompt for singleplayer modes. Let me spawn predators/aliens so I can have little ai battles or make the campaigns more interesting.
-Give something for players who collected all the collectibles for their respective races. A skin, a weapon, a map to play on, anything that extends playing beyond campaign.
6/10 until then.
very fun story
who doesn't love playing an Alien a predator or a marine
This is considered old school by todays standards
however this game still holds its ground as one of the best alien games to date
My favorite avp game while i do love avp 2 it barely gave any info on where to go so iwas stuck and annoyed many times the campaign mode here is great but every story happening at the same time did feel like it limited the gameplay the multiplayer also feels more unbalanced then avp 2 overall good game for us avp fans
great game, marine campaign is the best imo
Loving this one!! Just a heads up though, the info for controller support on Steam is incorrect. It says "Controllers Not Supported" but the game absolutely does work with a controller. ohhhh yurrrrrr!
It's good. The mechanic and attention to detail is surprisingly well for a game released in 2010. But the story is kind of short and not so great. But still a good game
7/10
If it bleeds, we can kill it.
Loved it, now where is my new updated version.... I miss turning off the lights and pissing myself as a marine.
Divertido demais so queria ter tido mais tempo com o alien, pra mim foi a melhor campanha.
Игры похожие на Aliens vs. Predator™
