not bad but overpriced
also some of this orbital mechanics is bullshit
it should be free or cheaper because its so little fun for that much
This is such a fun game, great as a distraction for the more intense gaming genres i play.
Very relaxing and meditative game. Requires mouse only, can be played one-handed. Simple concept executed to significant depth. I very much recommend this short but challenging game.
One for the budding NASA employee`s this.
Orbit is a game that explores orbital mechanics and can be verrrry tricky to do well, and will keep you coming back for `just one more go`... Its relaxing music is a pleasant enough to listen to and control is well implemented, either by using a controller, (which the game itself recommends), or by using your mouse to direct your "thrust". The Thrust is finite because it consists of your own comets mass. Its kinda like sitting on a chair with castors and throwing pieces of your own body away from you in order to move yourself. When you run out of limbs (mass), you have no thrust left..(make sense?) so you have to use it judiciously. You ALSO have to take into account your diminishing mass, because as you get smaller, the thrust affects you more. Lastly you have to think ahead, so zooming out and planning your intended route helps a lot.
The game will probably appeal more to astronomy geeks like myself, so be warned, unless you have an interest in physics, Newtons laws, and orbital mechanics, you may find it a little boring.
Either way, its very cheap and can be fun and educational, so I`m giving it a thumbs up.
Edit:- The only thing I didn`t really like was having all the stages locked until you satisfy each level, if you hit a level thats particularly tricky it can lock half the games content from you and that can be frustrating. The addition of a TRUE `free roam` mode would alleviate this. There IS a `drift` mode but its still locked into just the levels you`ve passed.
Ugh, I hate to give this one a bad review because it _seemed_ like such an interesting concept. To me however this is the kind of thing that seemed good on paper but turned out to be utterly boring in practice.
It looks good enough, controls nice enough, but the gameplay simply isn't there. You sit around doing nothing, or you try and pass by close to planets which is like the peak of excitement here. Seemed to me like the physics were also pretty off and orbits didn't behave tehe way they should, but that could just be me.
So anyway, 4/10 because it looks and feels nice, but is very boring in the end.
Orbit HD is an odd little game.
As far as I can make out, you have to conduct the arc of a comet to circle planets as many times as you can before the comet burns up.
Somewhat picturesque, but not very exciting.
It seems like it could be a nice little game for some people, but I just found it a bit too boring.

TLDR: Orbit management game that punishes the player for interacting with the game. Play Rotastic instead for a more engaging derivative of this.
Orbit is a game in which a number of planets are on a map. Your little moon gets thrust in the general orbit of the first planet, and through unity engine physics you loop around said celestial bodies until you reach a fixed quota.
You can adjust the orbit orientation by... expending part of the mass of the moon, shedding some of it to change direction. The moon shrinks, which if not done very carefully, will guarantee that you will shrink out before you reach your quota.
If you are very patient, zen and like the space theme and can mind the simplistic execution in audiovisuals the 40 or so tables in which you can practice your restrait and plan your routes will keep you busy for a while.
Unfortunately, unless you have a real knack for it, there is a great deal of trial and error involved, it is easy to insufficiently correct an orbit in an attempt to be stingy, or alternatively it is easy to get frustrated and just burn through half a moon just to get a desired result when things do not seem to pan out correctly.
Conclusion: If the physics and the space theme are all you care about and you have a powerful rig try Universe Sandbox for a much more comprehensive experience. Otherwise Rotastic allows you to latch unto things, adjust your distance to anchor points on the fly and hop from anchor to anchor at a gainly pace and even features some local play. Removing Orbit from library for declutter and to give better visibility to more deserving titles in my collection.

Meh. Could have been okay if it didn't reduce your mass when you adjust your orbit. That just makes the orbital mechanics unwieldy.
This is a good game for the price ($0.99 as I write this). Completing levels successfully requires you to stay on your toes, and "taking your time" (for example, waiting a few orbits for your periapsis to be in the best position to transfer to another celestial body) will cause you to miss out on bonus multipliers, because the game rewards hopping to different bodies every orbit. As a result, the game is a bit hectic and not relaxing at all.
If you’re looking for a bit of a challenge from an unforgiving arcade game, Orbit HD is a dollar well spent.
Nice game & somewhat a new idea
Gameplay is easy & then gets harder each level you passed..
No glitches, easy controls.
8/10
I personally don't like this type of a game
It's not an infinite freeride, but a bunch of levels in which you need to orbit around some planets enough times to win
If you want a relaxing, infinte freeride, I recommend Solar 2 (which I love)
The music is amazing in this game though
If you still like the idea of this game, buy it and if you don't like it, get a refund
with hte .2 two hours i have now i like the game already sure i mightive alrady crashed into the plantes thousands of time that all i been doing anways so what it a really fun game and yes i would very much hit yes
I have recently had some problems with my PC that caused this game not to run properly. But after fixing this and playing the game, I realized that my other review was complete bullsh!t. This game is absolutely lovely! I played this game for hours on my other computer, I don't find very many games appealing and addictive. The developer did something right. There is no reason not to buy this game.
This game warrants my award of a gaming masterpiece: it is simple to learn and hard to master, but can also be played as a sensory experience rather than a chalenging game
A smartphone game for PC. This should be on playstore, not steam. Zero replayability. My mistake thinking this game was open map. Just a puzzle game.
In this game you play a comet, sacrificing your own mass to propel yourself forward, a similar mechanic to Osmos. The unique twist comes here with the element of orbital mechanics.
Meeting the bare minimum requirement to pass the levels just requires a few stable orbits - getting higher scores, ratings and stars to unlock stat improvements and new avatars requires you to really think about three body mechanics and is addictive as all hell.
The author is also clearly engaged with the community, and I expect this one to keep improving as a result. I reccomend this one wholeheartedly.
A relaxing indie game with soft ambient music.
Play it while queuing for another game or to simply chill out and have some fun
Good low pressure gaming
I was looking for a game to play after a hard day of gaming and I think I found it in Orbit. Sometimes I'm not looking to build a space ship or castle, fight zombies or blow the crap out of everything.
In Orbit, you influence a comet orbiting around planets, but in doing so, the comets shell is slowly lost to space. Lose all of your shell and you lose you influence and gravity completely takes over. As you progress and gain 'Stars' you can increase the comets speed or the strength of its shell. It's not without it's difficult levels and I'm not sure how much replayability there is (it seems replayability is not a word), but I'll likely only play through it once.

Overall I think Orbit offers good, low pressure gaming for a reasonable price and the casual gamer will probably enjoy it.
GameFace
You're a coment, you orbit planets etc.
Basically you change the velocity and direction of your comet, each time you do, you lose shell.
When your shell is gone you can't change your direction or velocity.
You complete orbits around the planets X number of times to complete the level.
You also can unlock skills to make the comet go faster, last longer, etc.
Not terrible for an indie game.
A wonderful game for anyone interested in orbital mechanics. A simple concept yet so challenging. Great to pass the time. If you know what a three-body problem is, then you'll love this game.

Kerbal Space Program and Osmos
Edit: A builder mode would be nice. Looking forward to seeing new features in future updates. Keep up the great work, dev!
