Tries to appeal to emotions but just falls flat and feels outdated.
I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.
Thank you.
This game is crying desperately for an option to make that annoying music stop.

Its good, if you're interested in this sort of thing. An imp a fiend is a blaze epic game... you know what I mean. All, except for blaze's first magnam opus have been 2d, side view, room based, wall jump platformers, withdifferent controls or mechanics each time. This one, however, is a stand out. It combines the dashing and jumping mechanics of "shin_samurai jazz" with the the open room based free explore game play of "castlevania".
You play as some kind of part demon child in its early teens. Instead of following the deranged ghost of what may or may not be your father, you instead go in search of a bunch of gems that are blocking the underworld from rising up to conquer the mortal realm.
(SPOILERS)
it transpires that the gems are guarded by the Spirits of the loyal servants of some mortal king who sacrificed all of them to the underworld ages ago. and you were made from some evil experiment to stave off you or your mother from death. SO you, being only part imp or something, can destroy the gems. But when the final boss needs YOU to die in order to take his leave, you end up fixing the world more than anything else.
(maybe thats how the universe reset itself after those 3 gangster demons in "shin_samurai jazz" split the earth in half)
(/SPOILERS)
As for the game play, its kind of a rudimentary castlevania game. enemies are everywhere, and they respawn when you come back. And there are even parts where there are two turrets, one stacked on top of the other, pointing in opposite directions. More over, there are keys to find in each area, the screens are well layed out, and navigation is a brieze thanks to NO impossible geometry, and no characters telling you to "go east", when what they really mean is "over an obstacle course to the left, dodging total pricks and assholes that give no info at all. and then left some more, then climb up the buildings untill you reach a door that may have been locked".
Each part of the world, including gem dungeons, has its own feel and biome and NPC'S have interesting, if repetitive, dialogue. The game has no map, but the split up "regions" and town based mission hints in the game make navagation a breeze. Some imps are even helpful or toss out hints for you and ye doomed ass. And best of all its not a retarded fighter where ALL PUNCHES are blocked by pressing up and nearly ALL KICKS are blocked by pushing down. its actually good!
I do wish you could interact with more things, more tools and power ups that reward players for exploring and MAYBE open up the game ORGANICLY and maybe quest for purification OR genocide of the realms... but still... If you like exploration as well as tense walljump platformers, then i highly recamend! If you are triggered by demonic imagery, or have had quite enough of the wall based platform action lately then give it a pass
Finally beat the game. One room killed me more than the rest of the game combined. All of the trickiest challenges are the "one pixel between life and death" sorts. Didn't really like the story or atmosphere. Didn't like the endng. Didn't like the bosses. Didn't like how certain random aspects in certain rooms and boss fights made it feel like the possibility of victory was random... Kinda liked the main character and the controls, though. I read the warnings from other dissatisfied customers, and so I'll repeat them. Take this character, put him in a different platformer, gold (or at least silver). This game as it is? Let's put it this way, I'm enjoying the Steam trading cards more than the actual game.

It's alright. I only have 0.3 hours on record because I stopped playing after a bit because I thought this game wasn't finished. If it felt more complete then I would definitely recommend it but as of right now I can't.
C'mon, it's $2. It's definitely worth it for the price. Tight-platforming levels, easy-to-understand-but-hard-to-master combat and jumping techniques, fun bosses, interesting story, overall good game.
(A map would've REALLY been useful though.) :)
This game is sort of a metroidvania style platformer which gives you a lot of freedom in movement.
The game is quite short (finished with the playtime above) but is made to be longer by an annoying system of locked keys and doors. This combined with no map can be frustrating as you struggle to explore around constantly respawning enemies to find your way to areas you have no way to navigate.
I did like the game, because the main mechanics are really solid. I just wish the system of navigation was improved. I imagine if there was no locked keys or doors my playtime would be around an hour, so you can gauge whether that's worth it for this price point.
Metroidvania without the powerups, I'd wait for the sequel
For a dollar, this game is worth it. A map function would have been nice (if there was one I never found it). The gameplay was decently fast and the controls were tight. Soundtrack was quite wubbly in a generally pleasant way, though a few of the loops did get to me after a while.
Old-school platforming at its finest, complete with throwback graphics. The jumping puzzles are challenging, but not frustrating. This game is a gem at this price, well worth the purchase.
Better than Mario Bros. What the fuck i´m saying ! nothing is better than that!
Fun little game definitely worth the cheap price. Some levels can be a little tricky others can be very very similar to one another. I think its a good little game.
7/10
Buy it.
