The game contains many puzzles, deadly traps, and bloodthirsty monsters. You will have to use clever and unconventional ways to get past them.
By finding treasure you can boost your abilities, making your quest for freedom and a well-earned vacation slightly easier to achieve. Get a scanner to see through walls or a scifi version of the good old ninja rope to be the king of the rock jungle!
And of course there's a story! Something weird is going on in the mines. Your employer isn't what it looks like, you are hearing strange voices, and there's some maniac running around in the mines and sabotaging things. What's your role in all of it? Find out!
There's also multi-player! Whereas the single-player mode is more about adventuring and solving puzzling problems, the multi-player mode is all about fast-paced action and destruction! The dynamic environment and many different weapons, tools, and tricks allow endless tactical possibilities to beat your enemies.

TLDR: Gets a bit disorienting with cramped levels, no minimap, clunky abilities and make your own maze type progression.
Sandmason has you place 3 beacons to make a triangle ramp, or absorb dirt.
Problem is when the time comes to build with the dirt, the amount collected is nowhere near what you take from the environment. That means that you cannot easily brute force your way around the environment. Have to use smaller brush. Take loads of material to build bridges in sections and go back to dig more.
The game is sort of object routing, navigation oriented. With getting from point A to point B being the core mechanic. Having to use abilities to bypass obstacles. Undiggable stone walls are fairly common place.
Building with the dirt feels clunky and imprecise. Making a valid forcefield shape can get finnicky as well.
Conclusion: Feels both shallow and limiting and at the same time, overwhelming, and disorienting. Just not a good overall experience. Removed for decluttter.
Verdict: 1/10
Sandmason promises a lot, but delivers very little. At its core, it’s a puzzle game, but puzzles and mechanics very soon become obscure and unintuitive. In game progression is greatly hindered by this.
In my book, it must be a pass.
PrivateJoh’s personal (re)view:
As you fire Sandmason the first impression is actually quite good. First minutes act as a kind of tutorial, and core mechanics are introduced. However, soon enough this first impression desserts you. Puzzle mechanics are poorly described, and are even more difficult to implement. At this point, the game completely lost its appeal to me. I just gave up playing because it became too frustrating. I do not know whether it’s my fault or the game’s, but that is the final result.
In summary: a game that promised a lot, but soon turned out to be more frustrating and aggravating than anything. Some people might like it, but it’s definitely not for me. A bit of a disappointment.

It's a pretty nice game that has that nice 'old game' feel.
It's relatively enjoyable, but can make you annoyed if you're trying to do something in a particular way (e.g, grinding for upgrades)
Other than that, it's cheap, enjoyable and nice to play.
Wanted to like it, but it reminds me of kids playing with map settings in different creators. As they continue, the maps become crazier & sillier. The same happens here.
Totally digging this game. Like a 3D version of Dig Dug!
It's a fun game, with a lot more content than I expected! Your main tool lets you modify terrain, both digging and building, a little like the Geomod system from the original Red Faction long ago. The game is mostly about figuring out how to find and get to the end of each level, usually with extra collectibles hidden inside, and you get a number of other tools and abilities as you progress. The plot is straightforward but enjoyable. Occasionally the level layouts got too confusing, I went through most of the game not knowing how to use the 'shockwave' and 'scanner' abilities (they're listed in controls but I don't think they ever come up in-game), and occasionally the physics and collision worked unexpectedly (particularly with some enemies and moving platforms), but I never ran into any real problems.
I love levels with limited resources, where you need to use clay carefully. And bury enemies in handmade traps alive.
But powerups is outta style.
Can be interesting in multiplayer, like first Red Faction. Need people.
GET IT. PLAY IT. MASTER THE SAND.
This is one of those games where you play awhile, then get stumped and quit, come back a few weeks later, try again, and etc. The replayability is high as well since it's difficult to find all the secrets the first time around. Extremely worth the $1 on sale.
I played the demo quite a bit longer than an hour, but I only just purchased the game, so it only says an hour. Anyway, this is a puzzle type game in the style of Portal, where you run around in First Person View Mode solving puzzles in the environment with what I call a 'Themed Mechanic'. In Portal, the Mechanic was, obviously, portals made with the portal gun. In Sandmason, it's dirt if said in its simplest form. You have a can that can dig and store dirt from the environment, and then be placed down again in the form of spheres made of dirt. You use this to reach places n' stuff. Along with various puzzles involving moving to places, there are ones where you need to help get a ball shaped power source to a socket, and also contend with giant slime creatures and get creative when avoiding/killing them.
There are various power ups too, like jetpacks and super speed that are fun to use.
It's a very fun game, and there's also a demo, so try it out. I recommend it.
Interesting and pretty good game where you have to use imagination and be creative for passing some levels... The soundtrack is also pretty good.
I'm very impressed with the game so far. Interesting, fun game play and soundtracks are great as well. This game is easily worth 4 dollars. Was a ABSOLUTE bargain for .79 cents... go on....BUY IT !
FPS puzzle adventure, about diggin caves, building bridges, ramps etc... Got it cheap 0,79€, worth easily full price or even more.. Demo available if u r not sure about it.
It's definetly more fun than i thought. Sometimes you have to be really creative to pass the checkpoints. Plus awesome in game beats. I would recommend with no doubt.
So far it's more enjoyable than I expected.
Like other FPP (first person puzzler) games in the wake of Portal (QUBE, Polarity etc), it's obviously a low budget game by a small team, and doesn't have the best visuals or polish. But the mechanics are solid, and there's enough interesting puzzles and content for a good amount of hours yet.
The level I just completed was rather simple to finish, but had some more interesting puzzling to get the collectibles as well.
If you enjoyed the other games I mentioned, I think you'll enjoy this too. I paid sale price but wouldn't have been dissapointed at the regular price, it's so cheap anyway.
Also the mining reminds me of the glass house tech demo in the original Red Faction.
lauch napalm over and over and over again while sitting in same spot but then giant red orb of op finds u so you instantly die. grapple away but die to man with easy hold down left click across map beam laser
Very fun and good game to play with friends, worth the price for some good entertainment
Sandmason
I played the first level expecting this game to SUCK but it wasn't to bad at all, also it's cheap! It is a fun little puzzel-sandbox that I might put some more time into, but for now I'm gona watch some youtube. [i]Good bye...
This is the absolute best find I've made on steam. If it had multiplayer lobbies I would play it ALL. DAY. Currently recruiting friends to play with me because the multiplayer is some of the most fun I've ever had. I don't even know how to describe it. Force field, disentegrators, force gun, rope swing, dig, build, OH MY GOD BUY THIS GAME.
And I didn't even mention the single player campaign/puzzles are INCREDIBLE.
10/10.
If you remember digging a nest in SimAnt, this is like the FPS version of that. Except you're digging an escape route from the caves. Not recommended if you get disoriented or motion sick easily, but otherwise this was easily worth my $0.79.
Crazy 3D mining! Nothing common with Portal. Love it.
Level-design is great! Lovely music. Mustplay!
This game is very Portal-esque in a spiritual way. It does, however manage to create a great spirit of exploration. I actually feel the need to dig more, and the puzzles are challenging to boot.
