A massive level editor!
Make your own custom missions - and absolutely everything is customizable. Mix and match enemies with different weapons, and even make your own multi-phase boss battles! Share your levels with friends, or upload them to Steam Workshop.
Other stuff:
• 13 worlds in story mode, with over 20 bosses total• Hard Mode as a continuation of the main story, with new enemies and cutscenes
• Endless Mode with 37 environments, and bosses with randomized attacks
• Play as Savant, with completely different abilities and 100 new weapons

i don't think i've ever left a steam review before... but honestly, if any game is deserving of my first review, it's Copy Kitty. this game literally changed my life, however that was moreso the community than the game itself, so take that claim with a grain of salt lol
as for the actual game, it's a masterpiece. it received about a decade's worth of loving effort, and it shows. every detail is nicely accounted for, the base gameplay loop is solid, and the polish shines bright. not only is it a genuinely fun game, but it has amazing music, and some neat lore (though most of the lore is not in the game itself... it's a shame really). the graphics are ultimately up to taste, but i quite like the aesthetic.
final verdict: you should play this game. now. like, if you read my review this far, scroll up right now and buy the game. heck, buy it for your friends too while you're at it! it's worth every penny, and the devs need the money too.

holy cow this game is fire, more people need to try this. feels like a hidden gem made by Treasure or something with how crazy over the top it is.

Fun game, controls are hard,
boss battles are god-tier, stages are ok and few later ones are fun.
Music is allright and then there are banger playing in boss-fights.

I find that it's fun. I haven't play many action platformers, my experience with games is a mix of FPS, Third Person Shooter, Open-world RPG, Turn-based RPG, RTS, Tower Defense (which I guess is a sub-genre of RTS), 4X games, Card Games & whatever genre Pinball counts as.
I'm not great at the game because I'm not use to action platformer controls, so I die a lot, but so far dying doesn't feel frustrating in this game.3 hours of cumulative playing of the game & I've killed the 2nd boss, but got wrecked on the forest fire level (the 2nd world is a forest world, but the boss battle involved lots of fire, so the next level is just everything on fire).
Also I love how the protagonist is so relatable. She's a female gamer who likes superheroes. I'm a female gamer who likes superheroes.
I get the feeling that by the time I play my next action platformer, I will be a lot better with the controls. Who knows when that will be.
I've made August the time when I ditched 4 of the 6 games from my previous roster (Arknights & Reverse 1999 are the two I kept) & try out new stuff until I settle on what will fill out my slot of 5 to 6 games I play whenever I have a break from life. So far, Copy Kitty joins Arknights & Reverse 1999 on the roster of continue into September (unless I finish it before September, but I doubt it, I'm playing other games & have a busy life outside gaming, so unlikely to finish a whole game with my schedule). Bloons TD6 & Counterside will not be kept (I didn't get far enough into those two games to be challenged by the content, I was still on easy streak. But Counterside was too sexualised & Bloons TD6 had an art style that was too childish for me, so dropped them).
Finally got this after playing the demo way back when - exactly what it says on the tin, the formula is intact. Huge homage to Mega Man, but crazy fast - that style meter isn't there for nothing.
Some of the triple combos are practical nukes, which feel so good to finally assemble.
It's honestly a crime that this game seems to have mostly gone under the radar.
Copy Kitty is a run-n-gun 2D platformer whose central gimmick revolves around adopting the abilities of your slain foes and combining them into more powerful weapons. Think something like Megaman or Kirby.
Where the game excels is in its sense of pacing and spectacle. Almost every one of the game's 128 main stages has you seeing new things, experiencing new mechanics, trying out new weapons or weapon combinations (of which there's over a hundred of), or re-contextualising existing mechanics to keep things fresh and fun. Each stage is at most only a couple of minutes long, so its easy enough to pick up and put down whenever you have a moment too.
This is something massive development teams with hundreds of thousands of hours of manpower struggle to do, so for a game that was mostly developed by two people over the course of several years to achieve this really showcases the amount of love and passion that was poured into this game.
Other strengths of the game are in its charming story-light presentation and main character, a unique visual style that wields the early-00's-shareware 3D aesthetic in a charming way, and bombastic visual effects that punch way above the game's weight class with a symphony of explosions and colours.
The main criticisms I have of the game are threefold, and even then they're not that severe:
- The flashing lights and explosions may be a bit much for those with more sensitive eyes. There are options to tone them down however.
- The MASSIVE variance in weapon types and projectile damage combined with a lack of visible enemy health makes it very difficult to feel out how much damage you're doing to enemies and efficiently dispatch them. You kinda just end up spamming whatever weapons you have semi-blindly at the enemy (the game does encourage this mind you with how much ammo drops).
[*]I would've liked it if the player had a bit more inertia to their movement. This is just a preference of mine though.
A single playthrough will take you about four-to-five hours or so. and is honestly not that difficult (it is satisfying however). But you also unlock a hard mode by beating the game which remixes every stage and boss into a more difficult variant (it's not a case of just lazily upping the damage you take or anything). There is also a second entirely unique character with different mechanics to play as, as well as survival modes, boss rush, and even optional challenge modifiers. Heck, if you really wanna push yourself, try getting the gold star on every stage by taking minimal damage.
I would consider this a must-play for anyone who is a fan of Megaman and similar run-and-gun platformers, and a high recommendation to those who are just sort of ambivalent towards them like myself.

The core of Copy Kitty is light but intense action-platforming, in which you combine enemy weapons into ever-more destructive forms.
Except *really* it's about obsessively replaying each level in the hopes of achieving the 'target damage' star, at which point it becomes a puzzle game about building the perfect combination of powers for each situation. Especially when played like this, Copy Kitty is one of the most engaging, finely-tuned games available - er - anywhere. The soundtrack is beautiful, the graphics are gorgeous and the story is touching. Highly recommended.
This game is a hidden gem amidst a sea of not so great games. First off, the story mode. Its awesome. I haven't finished the game, but i'm on world 10 (as of writing the review) and i'm loving it. Then, we have the level editor. I LOVE level editors, and i have a ton level editors, so i think i can rate the editor. It is great. I mean, it has a Boss fight maker. Have you ever seen a boss fight maker? No, i didn't think so. Anyways, the game is great and you should buy it. 10/10 would recommend.
