Before Minecraft took over, before Trove or Portal Knights tried their hand at voxel worlds, there was Total Miner (Forge)—a game that did everything differently and somehow got lost in time.
Imagine Minecraft, but with skill trees, NPCs, blueprints, and an actual reason to explore beyond "I need more blocks."
Then add permadeath, traps, and a weirdly deep RPG system.
Now sprinkle in a map editor so powerful people made entire parkour courses, puzzle maps, and RPGs inside it.
The OG Xbox 360 players know the struggle—back when this was the go-to voxel game before Microsoft bought Mojang and Total Miner slowly faded into the abyss. The Steam version exists, but updates have been slower than mining obsidian with a wooden pickaxe.
It's also worth noting that the game has had RCE (RAT) exploits in the past, and the server browser is a ghost town. Unless you’re planning to play solo or with a small group of friends, it might not be worth diving in.
If you love old-school creativity, RPG mechanics, and nostalgia for 2011 gaming, Total Miner is a criminally underrated masterpiece. If you’re looking for amazing graphics and frequent updates… well, you might be waiting longer than a diamond spawn in Dig Deep mode.
unplayable UI
I want to love this game but there's just too many issues happening with the current version. I used to play this everyday on Xbox and made many friends from this game but with the Port over to Steam this game has gone down hill fast, Where you have people reporting Security problems and Developers getting switched out a lot and the lack of updates + Long-Waits for updates.
The game hasn't changed "crazy" since the Xbox Days and that's kinda the issue right now as it's not grabbing new players in and with the layout of other "sandbox" like games doing 10x to 50x more content/updates let alone a Active Team this game just seems like a Side project at the end of the day as if you also think about it the game used to easily have over 5,000+ players online daily while now the most you ever see online is 10 players daily.
Overall, I had higher hopes for this game and I really do hope in the future they pick up in development and prove me wrong but at the current state of the game this is very unlikely right now. I can only recommend this game if your looking for something closer to a older Style of a Sandbox game and want to just create stuff with Friends other then that I can't.
When the game starts to pick up again with updates and content I'll update my post.
Game has amazingly been improved on. To play this go to the Open Beta on Steam.
Animations are finally a thing for the playable avaters, animals too.
The hostile NPCs have fresh new redesigns.
The economised shops have been restored from 360.
The game now has six new texture packs added to the game. One of them is a restoration of classic original texture pack for the old school fans that want something more classic but improved on to where it feels modern.

Devs have given incredible modding tools to the community. While there are not many mods, what there is at this time are incredible and fun playing with.
Requires .NET 7, does not ship with it.
Total Miner Ran so Minecraft Could Crawl
it's so beautiful
worked one time, now gives blue screen.
This game is painfully unfun, I wouldn't make my worst enemy play this.
the game is just minecaft but if there was more to do
it's like 2012 all over again
NOT OPTIMISED
14 years later and I still prefer this over minecraft.
blast from the past not played this game since the 360 era not bad on pc it just needs steam achievements and make the characters locked so you have to do challenges to unlock them and maybe might help if the developer who is still keep this game running put it on xbox game preview or on xbox gamepass.
first lemme tell you how much nostalgia this brings, i remember playing this on xbox 360 back in 2010 before minecraft was officialy launched on console, id stay up for hours on end to try and get more blue prints and work on my castle and it even to this day oi still cant figure out how scripts work, but theirs quick couple of issues id like to bring up, tree leaves are not decaying/fallling after the wood has been harvested, oddly enough this wasnt an issue back during the 360 version as leaves would decay almost instantly after wood blocks are taken, theres also an issue with sudden and semi permanent frame drops due to certain custom map options, and the only fix for it is to quit the game and start it up again, other than those issues id definetly recommend this game, although its technically a knock off of minecraft, it has features minecraft didnt and still doesnt have like scripts, skill leveling and custom blocks, this game launched just under a year before minecraft came out on xb360 and the best part is after 14+ years it STILL only costs 4$
Xbox 360 Arcade Classic
Minecraft but with RPG elements like Skill Levels and Magic. I originally played the Xbox 360 version of this game, and remembered they had a PC version.
I bet Luffy will find the One Peace before this game gets a real good update.
Fun, the original developer is in charge of the game. People giving it crap for being not the same as the 360 version and its true. It still has the same feel and emotion as the OG version, but people are too rough to say its terrible. Look at the price, look at the discord and crew that develops. Give it slack and be fortunate to play a game we had and loved when we were younger and is given the attempt to be in our lives again. The PC version has come a long way. Thank you Craig and crew.
Absolutely love this game!
I remember by parents buying this game on the xbox 360 for me and my brother as they couldn't afford to buy minecraft.
We spent ages playing the original Dig Deep mode until the scripting was released, that is when the game went to just a game to our hobby.
The main type of maps you would find would be "Prison" styled maps, where you would mine for resources, sell them off to buy better gear and better mines to go to.
We created our first few of these, learning some basic scripiting along to way to make systems like Personal banks that you could access anywhere , Player driven shops and even ATM machines that made storing gold easy peasy!
My last memory of this game was when we achieved the last skin we could get, the Golden Knight.
Do Not purchase this game unless you want the following:
1. Lack of content. I remember playing this game back in X360 days and that was updated way more than Minecraft was. It sold millions of copies worldwide due to it's outstanding content it had. This ain't it, this port is dogshit. This ain't even worth a dollar, it should be free.
2. SEVERE LAG ISSUE, I have a Core i7 computer that can run Ark Survival and Space Engineers out of all Games, you mean to tell me this is the game that causes my computer to have a stroke and seizure out and die just by looking at the water? This is Embarassing! Come on! I get its 2 dollars but don't make me buy another computer just because your port of a game sucks.
3. Ugly Interface/Menu screen, dear god i swear a child made it. I cant see shit looking at it at a distance, it's so bad it hurts my eyes, I have to get closer to my screen to properly read it, it's like whoever made this is secretly an eye doctor and they are using this a ploy to get you to go to their care so they can make some money off you.
4. Music, it was aight i guess. But just having it on 3 out of 100 is already really loud. Like damn why it gotta blow out my ear drums.
5. Waste of my money, and waste of my time. Not fun, I want my money back now. I'm a little bit pissed. The devs really just dragging their balls on this game. Don't buy.
I love this game, originally played a lot on xbox long ago. Great game! PLEASE ADD THE UNLOCKABLE SKINS that you had to do stuff to unlock PLEASE! Glad to see this game on steam living on in some way. 10/10 will be playing again

Total Miner moments
A fond childhood memory.. You were "minecraft" for many on Xbox 360. Well done!
10 out of 10
Glad its still around! Classic
Fond teenage memories.
this and CastleMinerZ were the absolute best indie games on the XBLA. now having this on steam I can re-enjoy this masterpiece and build til my heart's content.
