Why isnt this game got at least a small cult following. I got this on my Xbox when I was quite young and it honestly got me enjoying older shooters like quake, TF2, ect. Its also got some great maps and I used to have my friends round and played Free For All. The map builder is also quite fun as well and I think on my Xbox years ago I made a map with 900 odd votes

The game was great a few years back, but now it is dead. Don't give your money to these lazy ass developers. I spent 6 hours on a map today just to watch the save be overwritten. This isn't just a one-off issue either. These stupid cunts don't bother to fix issues anymore. The game is run by a bunch of fucking room-temperature IQ shitheads that have zero fucking clue what they're doing apparently. I'm pissed to see so much hard work put into this game as well as a loyal community just get royally fucked over. I hate this shit and the worst part is that I can no longer refund it. You're buying a broken product if you get this game, so skip the fucking hassle and just look at some other games. Fuck this buggy pile of shit. It used to be so worth it, but it is nothing but fucking garbage anymore. Oh, and for a description, you play and make levels in a retro boomer-shooter theme... but guess what? The level maker doesn't work anymore. Oh, what about playing with friends? Too fucking bad the servers are dog shit. I'd be polite and kind here, but simply how little of a shit was given in terms of keeping this game active and not buggy just pisses me off. Fuck this game.

The editing mode can get pretty buggy, and although there is limited movement and the enemy AI is below average, I am still recommending this game due to the infinite possibilities. Campaigns can be iffy, but the deathmatch modes are a blast.

this game and i got history. it's been a huge part of my childhood and i'm thankful for that. i've enjoyed all the time i've put into this game and if i could go back in time i wouldn't change one single thing about this game. i used to create new steam accounts to play this game when it was f2p lol. it's kinda sad to see this game died but nothing ever lasts forever so.. it was good when it lasted

why make it free if they planned to make it cost so much later..Even custom maps creations decreased alot after it changed from a free game to a paid one

It used to be free, but after a massive radio silence from the developers, death of the forums, and removal of the website... they raised the price to $20 and asked everyone who got it for free to remove it from their libraries and buy the game. They proceeded to get into NFTs with their other titles. They had run a poll for what games people wanted content based off of, and proceeded to make content for everything on the list EXCEPT for the #1 result. It's a comedy of incompetence that could have been good in the hands of people with functioning brains, but instead, it was made by Blowfish Studios.

People who got the game for free back when it was Free-to-Play essentially need to buy a game they already own to access the newer updates.
Whoever at Blowfish thought this was a good idea deserves to get shot.

This game has brought me countless hours of fun. I love to create games and this just makes it so easy. I have 19.46 days on this game, just making maps and such, and I still haven't run out of stuff to do. This game is so fucking fun, and will always be a part of my memory.

All Hail Gunscape!

A love letter to old school gaming (Doom, Quake, Turok, Wolf3D, and the like) with a Minecraft aesthetic. Build maps, play other people's maps, a variety of gamemodes including coop, FFA, Team, and CTF. Even has some cool movement mechanics such as Quake's classic Rocket Jumping, TF2 style shotgun jumping, and even Chaingun flight adding some advantageous mobility over your opponents. Highly recommended.

The game is fun and all, but dlc is pretty handicapping. Once you have the DLC, you can do alot, but it's still 20 bucks. Maybe make it a little cheaper? thx.

I really like how easy it is to create cool levels. I love the oldschool multiplayer. The only problems are the ai is incredibly basic and I would like to see bots as there aren't many players online anymore. The simple ai does make the level design more complex to compesate. Over all I would reccomend the standard and free versions of gunscape. (AVOID GOLD EDITION)

Great game!

However I would like to see:

The ability to duplicate your maps (If you wanted to make an FFA out of part of your Campaign).

Custom enemies (You can edit their health and movement speed).

The ability to create custom gamemodes.

Not worth it, even if it would be entirely free, it wouldn't be worth your time.
The gold edition isn't even worth it on sale for 10$ So 40$? What kind of trap is this?

The concept is really good but that's the only good thing about this game, otherwise it's utterly trash.

Being able to create our maps and missions on a "retro" game like this, it should be awesome, shouldn't?
Well, it is not.

The bad:

Brainless AI, no... seriously... They hear you shoots 4 feet away and they're doing nothing about it, you have to either get really close to them (and they must see you, even if you run away making lot of noise behind them, they won't even notice), they barely use their gun, like, they don't even shoot, maybe 2 - 3 bullets every 2 minutes? Right, I'm exaggerating, but just by a little.
They'll miss you 50% of the time and that's when you don't move, if you move and doge, they'll miss their shots 95% of the time, Star Wars stormtrooper pretty much isn't?

There is not enough content, really, even if you pay 10$ for it, there is not enough content, that be weapons, enemies or blocks, it's empty, it's pathetic how barely any content there is.

No bots, why are there no bots? For all gamemodes, even the campaign/co-op? It would be pretty cool, and this game is almost dead so it would be important to have bots.

No mods support, why? Being able to port and create mods for this game would be great, being able to fight against hordes of Doom's creatures using weapons of Redneck Rampage or even Shadow Warrior, or even creating our own stuff by ourselves and sharing it with the community, but nope.

Crappy animations, Shadow Warrior 1997 had better animations, come on now, you have no excuse.

It seems that the developer is no longer working on this game, what a waste, it could have been something great, but it is not, it actually wouldn't even be worth if it was entirely free (gold edition for free)

Stay away from this game, if you want good retro shooters then play Unreal Tournament, Blood, Turok, Quake, Doom, Shadow Warrior, Redneck Rampage, Wolfenstein, S.W.A.T., Blake Stone, System Shock, HeXen, Rise of the Triad, Duke Nukem, the first Half-Life, Strife, Heretic and there's so many more.

And you can create your own maps and mods on most (if not all) of them so forget about this, don't waste your time on this.

3/10 - Good concept but unfortunately bad and really weak on content.

The game is just not that great. The idea of a Quake 3-alike being built around a granular level editor sounds great, but unfortunately the core gameplay doesn't hold a candle to the genuine article. The guns just don't feel that great to shoot, and there's way less variety than you'd expect if you want to keep your weapons at all coordinated with the level theme. If you want a chaingun in your map, I hope you're okay with it being bright neon blue.

And that's before you even get into the community being dead. You will struggle to get into a match with more than one other player, and this game does not shine in 1v1, especially since most of the custom maps people make are way, way too big.

Basically, the game isn't very good, and even if you'd want to try it, there's nobody to play it with. It's especially hard to recommend now that it's painfully obvious that there won't be any further content updates.

And this is something that hurts to say, because i was a really fan of this game, i bought everything this game had, i bought the sesinic, the all blocks all monsters all everything, the only thing i didn't have was the golden thing.

This game was so good, that for me, it was the best game ever in the planet, i played it daily, i bought every dlc that was coming out. This game was really golden...
But... The devs have made a very bad desicion...
This game is no longer free to play

This is just something that hurts so much, its enough for making me hate this
I just want you to understand, this game is DEAD, devs doesn't give news updates, people isn't playing it, and there is no new DLC since 2018, and the devs, ¿they haves the golden eggs to make you PAY for having this game?. At least when it was free to play, the game was dead, nobody played it, and there was no update, but in the end it was free, and the devs were creating other games.

And the worst part, is that now devs want us, people that plays this game free to play, make pay for the full game, something that nobody is going to do...
I hope in the devs, i hope that at least, they make the game free to play again, they make it pay you 5 dollars for the game, or leave it with this price of 20 dollars, but make all the DLC's free, or even something better:
UPDATING THE GAME

This game is amazing. The level editor is simple and they give a lot out for free! Of course this game does have the best stuff for purchase but you can make great levels without it. The community (the little of us there are) have all been wonderful. I just wish this game had a bigger player base I feel it perfectly recreates that DOOM or quake arena run and gun type shooters. Then you add an easy to pick up familiar level editor (minecraft ehhem) I don't understand the negativity about this game. Anyways, most of everything you play is player created (which I love) and the fact that I got an 8 level campaign and all this stuff is great for a FREE game. I have a few times where things just will not work in level editor like certain switches and buttons don't work in rooms seperated without windows. These are glitches that once I figure out how to completely recreate these Issues I will write Blowfish. I rate this game a 10/10 indie game and a 7/10 game when compared to polished games. There is no reason to not play this game if you enjoy creating or that oldschool shooter feel,

Its fun when you play on a server with friends and its free but, you have to pay for most things to build a map.

pros-Free,Fun with friends and you can make maps

Cons-You have to buy a ton of blocks if you want to build a map so, you might as well just stick to the comminity levels. Also theres noone ever on servers.

I suggest if you want to play it you should play it with a friend and its free so theres no reason not to.

Perfect game, the graphics are superior compared to gmod and it has the same concept. The only thing I could have said about this game is that it's way to complex in the way of building maps.

Incredibly fun game, I think the reason it gets a bad rap is because people didnt understand the free version was a demo and were mad they had to buy the blocks but I bought the gold edition and you get all that good stuff. I think its an ingenuitive title and worth buying
