Barren Roads

Don't spend any money on this. The game is wholly incomplete and hasn't been updated in 8 years. It's been abandoned by the Dev(s).

They must have just lost interest in the project. It's clunky and yucky. Not a visually rich environment. The screen is all messed up when I try and play it and it crashes.

Rubbish. Looks like it's dead in the water now. No recent updates or improvments. Crappy to play and looks crap.

buggy, and it's also buggy. I understand it IS Alpha, but you should be able to pick up items. I have a half full backpack, and can't pick up anything..empty backpack, still can't. Buggy

Abso-Fucking-Lutely attrocious. This game is total garbage from start to whatever the hell the finish is - death? I think that's the ending for the game; death. The hit detection is totally random, the graphics look like this game was made for a (failed) highschool project, the controls make no sense and the menu is utterly broken. Trying to transfer items from your inventory to your equipment slots should not be so hard - and ONLY because the menu is so fucked up that you can't READ what the menu says. Hostile NPCs have fucking eagle vision and can spot you from miles away - SOMETIMES through WALLS - and the zombies are able to run right through eachother - and you - and whail on you from INSIDE your body. AND, to top that off, the controls (when they decide to WORK) have such bad input lag that I'd be willing to bet you could control a robot on the surface of Mars better than you could this bag of pickled anuses.

What's worse is I wasted Fifteen fucking dollars on this blatant Seven Days to Die/Day-Z rip off.

This game is a tumor upon an already moribund market of games, oversaturated to the brim with zombies and mutants and shit, but good GOD, at LEAST put some fucking effort into your game! Whoever 'developed' this pile of fecal pap should be drawn and quartered. And then flogged for good measure.

-10/10 - This is an unfinished (obviously), incompetent pile of cancer, and it should be removed from the store. Like... I wish there were three buttons on the 'Do you recommend this game?' tab; Yes, No, and HELL NO. I'd hit that third button so hard my finger would break.

Oh - has my opinion changed? Absolutely not. This game is still the same pile of broken garbage it was when I first tried it. Why it's still on the store page after so long is beyond me. Utter trash that should be swept clean from the store.

If you're looking for a game that is completely broken then this game is for you.

1. sometimes it wont tart up
2. main screen is black with words "single player" & "multiplayer"
3. if your buying this game with a friend to have fun DO NOT multipler does not work for many reasons if you click multiplayer it starts with all your singleplayer gear you may be thinking "yay synced servers" no... its a bug youve just started up your singleplayer game and if you do some how manage to get on to the multiplayer it is dead and 100% broken
4. playing this game and someone calls you on skype... you tab out, answer it and go back onto your game everything looks normal so you continue playing. You come across a banbit and kill him for his loot (singleplayer) but you realise you can't pick it up as it is bugged
5. you restart your game click single load old character and you know where you logged off but some how your inventory is now bugged you've started back at the beggining and all loot has respawned so save yourself the time and if you log out liking this game and want to play again press the new character slot, but oh wait its the exact same bug as the old character button...

Do not buy this game, waste of money. Horrible controls and graphics. Those who say its an amazing game might be friends with the developer, and he hasent been on in a long time

Really awesome game, has some great potential the only things i would ask is devs please dont abandon this its loads of fun for anyone who loves survival games. and adding a crouch and prone would be dope....... and a forest biome or 2......

Very good game, with only a few devs, and this is home made, someone needs to start funding these guys. This has the potental to become great. :)

In case you are looking for a real hardcore depressive post-apocalypse game - Barren Road is the one! I've never felt so lonely and sad, I should say! The atmosphere is perfect. As for the bugs and etc. - yeah, I actually expected all this. And BR is on the whole as I thought it would be. Buggy, depressive, hardcore apocalypse. My only wish towards the developers - don't abandon this masterpiece! I've played loads of games and I think there might be something special about this one!

aaaah this game man, a game like dayz or h1z1 MULTI PLATFORM!? i really dont write rewievs but this baddass game needs to get more known! i love this i cant wait for future updates ;) 9/10 worth buying

when i was at my summer cottage on july 2007 it was a nice evening and my mom told me to not start smoking so i dont get cancer but it didnt help at all :( when i played this game i got cancer :)

Neutral:
Its a wonderful game to have and knowing that i'll be a multi platform game is even way better for me and other players to experience the wonderful open world of Barren Roads on their phones and tablets. The game may lack in a few features for now but there are always more to come in future updates. This game is mainly ment to be optimize for our phones and tablets and the creator bringing this game to computers also just amazes me.

Graphics:
To me I honestly think the graphics are beautiful in this game. But most people dont know that some lower graphics games look even more realistic than higher graphic games (there are some mobile games with such high quality graphic that just seems to look fake at some point and it causes lag)

Developer:
The developer is always active to his/her community, heck this dev can even take a punch to the face with such mean comments. When a suggestion or bug report is posted he/she is always ready to respond with the best answer. Clearly to me I think this dev is way better than other devs out there (Im not saying this because he is my friend, heck I dont even know the guy I only added him so I can report bugs more easily).

Pros:

- Houses to Raid
- Lots of weapons to collect
- Beautiful graphics (its ment for mobile so dont complain)
- Crafting coming soon
- Mobile platforms coming soon

Cons:
- Its earily access

The game is improving every update and lets keep it that way by supporting our developer everyday through the development of this game, we lost so many open world games that could of been on mobile (Ex: ZAmbush and The Wild). And some open world games that are on mobile platforms dont even support other platforms (Ex: Radiation Island is only for iOS not Android (im currently on iOS but Radiation Island doesnt look good to me lol). And von, keep up the good work you have lots of supporters by your side including me :).

well i tried to holster the weapon i get on tstart inwich i can,t get him to hold picking up items on the ground is still hard, i,d like to see a water and health bar, plus inventory or tab so to speak is still clunky and zombies and raiders kill me to easy

Got some gear , started walking, got killed by a flying sniper 100 feet in the air. 10/10 wouldnt play this game until it decides to use its potential.

A wait and see title, when you compare Survival Post-Apocalypse now which is priced at £3.99 and 10 times better, to Barren Roads priced at £10.99. It becomes very hard to be giving the thumbs up. One to put on the wishlist to see how it develops.

As of 2hrs play (5/6/15) running on (Win 7 64, i3 2100 3.00GHZ, AMD HD 6400 GPU VRAM 1GB, System RAM 4GB)
It runs well even on a low spec PC with settings on low and 720p I got a fps of 120. But the movement and animation is sluggish and on muti-player near unplayable with 2 sec delay. The graphics are below par (On my other PC thats highend) and the environment is very barren and lifeless. Raiders hover 4 foot in the air aimboting your every move and aiming at zombies heads shoots their toes, before dying after six or so shots and shooting 40 foot into the air. The aim (dot) is just to the right of the 3rd person character, which I believe is trying to mimic mass effect. Coming back to the environment, the buildings and many objects clip into each other and buildings in some cases can be walked through. Game breaking bugs include a bug that has the character continue to be out of balance for the remainder of play and a broken camera bug. In all it puts the early in to Early Access.

the game dev. added much improvements in one day, keep it up.
Today I was just watering up, and waiting to heal, looking thru pack, when a zombie attacks So I kill it with a pipe,and start thinking about the zombies. Kinda cool how they move pretty aggressive, and the amount is not always too concerting, seems about right. I still wasent healed up much, but was still looking for loot, so as I was thinking about the zombies, I turn a corner, and this *itch zom offs me. Thumbs up.

Plays like build 14 of The Dead Linger. Tells you all you need to know, really. But for those of you fortunate enough to have steered clear of TDL, here goes. It's presently unplayable. Spawned in, ran around. Walked through vehicles and walls. Found a gun but could not for the life of me pick it up. Kept getting a 'clear inventory' message. Didn't know how to clear inventory. Hitting TAB brings up said inventory, but clicking items or trying to drag and drop them into slots did nothing. Got attacked by a female zombie who roared like a lion. Died, dropping a flare gun and med kit.
10/10, best The Dead Linger simulator ever.

Im not going to recommend this game right now, the controls and movement are very clunky. That alone right now is making it hard for me to enjoy the game. If further versions improve the movement in general, I'll be likely to return to the game.
