*The story mode of Samphi will be included in the full release. While in Early Access the game is limited to local and online freeplay.
The story of Samphi is about re-living memories of a failing relationship in a last-ditch attempt to understand and save it. All memories will take place in randomly generated sandbox areas, giving you freedom over how they play. Instead of just carting the player from A to B with fixed dialog, I want you to be able to create your own worlds, play how you want, and ultimately have your own experience. Also, with the addition of RPG features such as character progression, skills, and pets, I hope to really immerse the player into the world they create.
- • Play as either 'Boy' or 'Girl'.
- • Each memory will take place in a randomly generated area.
- • Complete all memories in the timeline, and their associated tasks, to learn the story behind 'boy' & 'girl'.
- • Samphi's story is me sharing my own experience. The loose telling of the story will allow you to add your own significance to the experience.
If that's not your bag there's always freeplay mode!
Since I’m telling my story in a sandbox universe, it only makes sense to open it up and provide a freeplay mode! No goals, no story, just sandbox goodness. Create your own world, live your own story, use your skills to survive, and hone them to master the world around you. The goal isn’t the usual exploration and/or fighting, sure that’s there, but the goal is to establish yourself and build the best world around you.
- Each world is made up of randomly-generated areas. What you do in this world is up to you!Dig, build, gather and create your own world. Don't take too long; things go bump in the night.You have plenty of materials at your disposal so let's see what you can create with them.
- Once you have gathered your materials you are ready to craft.Use what you have gathered to forge new items and equipment to help you build your world.To craft better items and building materials build yourself a crafting bench.
- Now you have your items and a shelter its time for the final step. Food!There're multiple ways in which you can get food including gathering, fishing, and farming.Time to get back to your house, rustle up a campfire and cook your spoils.
- While doing all this you will be gaining experience and be improving your skills.The more you hone your skills the more competent and masterful you'll become.
- Accompanying you throughout your adventure is your own pet.As he/she accompanies you, you’ll find your pet grown stronger alongside you.
Samphi is my entry into one of my favorite genres. I’ve always loved the genre, and play many of the entries in it, but I’ve always wanted a smaller, more intimate experience with more meaning. That’s my goal, and I hope you enjoy Samphi!

I wish the creator would continue with this wonderful cute game. I really like it!
To keep it short and to the point, this game is dead and is no longer being developed. The developer has been honest about that which is nice but I very much recommend against buying this game as there is very little here; it's basically a Terraria/Starbound clone with a tiny fraction of the content and nothing new to offer.
I know this game is still in early access, but wow it does need ALOT of work still. I am gonna keep testing the game to its breaking point (which causes it to crash and falls back to a not so recent saved point.)
Just a suggestion
-Fix the mining animation but also enviroment interaction.
-Crafting systems needs a great deal of tweeking.
I cannot recomend this game in the present state. It has potential but sadly it isnt much different than most games of the same style. I am looking forward to see what the devs can do to make this game play smooth and bring new to the table.
I don't know what was the state of game when it comes out in the middle of spring, but it's total crap now (half-year later), waaaay worser compared to any 2d terraria-like games. The game offers: axe, shovel, bow, 2 crafting station and stlightly over 10 recipes... and that's all!
You can add it to wishlist and check at least 2 years later what become of it.. but right now - stay away, unless it's on 90% steam sphree, then maybe steam cards is the only reason to buy this..
There are too many dead projects on steam to simply trust developer of this one, he is asking to "support" him, shall I name a few early access titles which were removed from shop years after being "supported"?.. game is full of "under construction" things.. I wan't to believe in miracle and cheap AAA games, but those doesn't exists.
This game in seems to have a large amount of potential. However at this point, it doesn't even feel playable.
What I mean by this is that you only have sandbox mode, can't edit your characters appearance or use skills. However, those are the good things as they clearly show that these are edits to be placed into the game soon.
What makes this unplayable is the fact that once you start the game you fall into the world there and there is some animals, berries, ores, trees and water. You have a shovel equipt and the game only tells you how to pick berries and travel (once you get all the way to one side of the world). In other words, you get no explanation for how to equip items or what to do with the many animals in the area. Honestly, I don't even know what I was supposed to do with the berries or anything I dug up.
Digging is a hard task in itself as your character is a giant compared to the amount you can dig at one time. So they'll need alot of space to walk to anything you dug out or to climb up. Also, some of the objects to dig them out you need something your not provided. While I didn't play for very long I wasn't shown anything more than the same basic things in about 3 worlds and I definitely wasn't going to try digging again after the pain it proved the first time.
To add onto this the controls are notoriously bad as to do actions you need to use the mouse. But in order to jump or move to a new area you need to use either the space or E key and the arrow keys at the same time. This has the player constantly switching hand positions and feels extremely uncomfortable.
While I do believe the game has potential it doesn't even feel like it can be called a game at this point let alone be on steam. Might be best to wait for a bit more progress in the game before grabbing it up but definitely worth a follow.
I didn't play long due to a rare glitch in the game that cause me to start without the spade and axe, making me unable to do anything. After finally getting it to start with the spade and axe I was actually able to do something. From what I did experience in the game I will say this: The game just felt a little rough and bland, but with the game being early access that is to be expected. I have changed my review to recommended because I realize it may be a different experience for some one else. I am going to keep up with the game and hopefully in the future try it out again, but I will say try out the game if you think it may be fun for you, if you don't wanna try it out right now wait for some further updates and keep up with it like i've decided to do.
