Survivalist – More Surviving, Less Thriving 🏚️🚫
Survivalist promises an open-world RPG with freedom and consequences, but what you get is a world that's more frustrating than it is immersive. After the collapse of civilization, you step into the shoes of Joe Wheeler, a hedge fund manager who somehow survived in his fancy bunker while the world crumbled. The game kicks off with high hopes but quickly plummets into a sluggish mess of awkward mechanics and a world that feels empty rather than expansive. 😩🌍
The freedom to play how you want sounds great in theory, but it’s often bogged down by clunky controls and bizarre interactions. Your choices may have consequences, but those consequences mostly result in confusing story paths or frustrating encounters that don't feel rewarding. There’s a ton of potential for survival and exploration here, but it’s buried under layers of frustration, weird pacing, and unintuitive gameplay. 🕹️💥
At the end of the day, Survivalist doesn’t feel like a post-apocalyptic adventure; it feels more like a chore. If you’re looking for a gripping RPG with meaningful choices and exploration, this one might leave you wishing you’d stayed in your bunker. 😔💀

Awesome storyline, i have to be sincere, I used a lot of quicksave and quickload.
Actually pretty kewl.
Doesn't work with Proton
I tried to get into it several times, and on my final successful attempt finally got to enjoy this game. It's ugly but charming.
Good game
This is a good post-apocalyptic zombie survival builder game. You'll meet lots of characters with different personalities, and many of them will have backstories to delve into. Most of them will belong to various good, neutral, or evil factions. There's also an overall story to the game,
You are Joe, a fairly wealthy guy, who built a bunker in the desert just in case SHTF during your lifetime. Well, one year ago it did... in the form of a zombie apocalypse. Now your food supplies are running low, so you finally emerge to see what the world is like.
Meet new people, and try to recruit them to follow you. Scavenge for new supplies, and build your own little survivor compound. Choose to either try to get along with the other factions you come across, or try to conquer them. Defend you and your group against bandits and raiders. Barter when you can. And for maximum entertainment, blow up buildings.
I'm not really a fan of the top-down camera, and waiting for your people to complete tasks, like Isham collecting wood planks to build stuff with, can be very tedious. If you take the diabetic Alice into your group, then constantly needing to find her some insulin can also be a grind. It makes for a good challenge, yes, but it's still a grind. The game also feels like a 90's game to me.
Some of the zombies are slow, and some are real speedsters. I don't like the speedsters, as they often come racing into view from nowhere. They cover the distance between them and me so fast that I don't have time to respond, especially if there's more than one of them. Lastly, I find the controls a little clunky. Overall though, this game is definitely worth the 99 cents I paid for it.
Really tried, but god no
Some old games need to stay in the past, and this is definitely one of them, Mechanics are awful, music is wtf, and just the entire thing is confusing as f. Just give it a miss, it is a top down micro manage mishap. Avoid
