Fast paced game, reflex oriented, fun, single player game
Fun little casual action game.
Popcap use to make absolute bangers. Can not recommend enough.
Whack a Mole but with gnomes and the occasional thing you shouldn't hit. It's a fun game to play, buy it on sale when available!

I play it every now and then and have fun each time, so if you like whack a mole then this is the game you want to try out.
You get a lot of "game" for the value, the game is about 1-2 hours of playtime in the main mode and the other mode i believe is infinite.
The game was released in 2006, so it is a nice old game to play if you are bored of the newer games!
The game's resolution is 800 x 600 i believe, so don't expect the best screen.
Also smashing gnomes (in the game) is a very fun thing to do when you are bored.

This is a great PopCap game back from when I was kid.
It's a whack a mole game, not much more needs to be said.
If you're like me and are feeling a bit nostalgic, the game still works.
Also play in windowed mode lol, this game wasn't meant for todays modern display resolution...
I've loved this game for forever and JUST realized it was on Steam. I could never get past one part as a child (level 17-18 or something), but found that since I was older I was a lot better at clicking. The nostalgia, lol. Anyway, this game is essentially whack-a-mole, except with special items, and upgradeable hammer, health, and a variety of "moles" (gnomes) to pop up. Each have their own special ability like having extra health, doing damage to you in some way, that sort of thing. I won't spoil the variety :) . I love this game SOOO much, and if you wish to improve your general "flick" accuracy in games, I assume that this would help. The only issue I can see is that it is not a large resolution. Other than that, this game is quite great for its price point and level of fun. (I might be bias because I played it as a kid, but give it a go anyway. IT'S ONLY FIVE BUCKS!)

Basically Whack-A-Mole for PC.
Click your mouse (with sensitivity at 300%) on enemies. Some take one hit, some take two, but if you miss or over-click, you loose a heart point.
Clicking is also delayed so clicking 2x for certain enemies takes time to get used to.
Pretty cool game though if you want to break your mouse.

Whack-a-mole game. With gnomes. Garden gnomes. Flying gnomes. Gnomes with forks. Sneaky little gnomes, attacking back occasionally. It should not be this much fun, but it is! :D
I'm sure, that my last mouse was sent to the eternal mousepad-fields by this game!!

TLDR: Difficulty ramp is gradual but swift. Ceiling hit pretty soon. No other game modes. Game is short lived.
This game is wackamole, with gnomes. Half of the fun of wackamoke is actually using a hammer, and that doesnt translate well on a computer, you end up with a targeting reticule and this ends up being more like shooting ducks than wackamole. As you progress through levels gnomes increase in variety with small variations on how to wack them. Misses hurts your health which can return a game over screen. Popcap did great work with the sound in this game, its not annoying at all, punchy and upbeat and goes with the game well. There is a lot of negative however, you can collect points and coins, and doing very well can speed up the game, but upon losing the game you are booted back to the very first level with no level select screen, the coins cant be spent on anything, and increasing the speed just makes it more likely that you will lose your progression. The options are limited and chances are if you have a modern computer screen or television it will not fit properly on-screen. So this game does a lot of things right but I cant even guarantee that a wackamole game better made than this one wont ever surface, which wasnt that high of a bar to set. Given the demand on this type of game thats unlikely however so thats probably the best you are going to find in this very niche and not all that exciting genre. It makes for okay entertainment for people with short attention span, children, and the like and the reboot to the first level is at least friendly for hotseat.
Conclusion: Play Major Mayhem instead. It is closer to a duckhunt style experience, allows you to go through designed encounters and grind progression. Makes more sense than this where you can only fire a match and try to level up as much as you can before you die. You can pick coins but cant spend them on anything. Otherwise once you use hardware DPI controls you can still have some fun targeting the gnomes but the time limits are harsh and this is not nearly as casual as you would expect given on the thematic. No real resolutions support to speak of. So I recommend you give this a pass and spend your time on twitch shooters that offer more.

While it looks simple, don't be fooled. Awards in the middle of the game is distracting. LIke most Pop Cap games, if you get past Level 5, you don't have to start back on Level 1 each game. Slippy, the bucket gnome, if not whacked immediately out of the hole will cost you life So twice whack immediately.
One of the finest games ever crafted.
Rivals games like Final Fantasy VII and Planescape: Torment.
So sad there is no sequel.

Got a quick mouse and fast reaction!? If you do then this will be the game for you! It adds humor to a classic style of gameplay were you whack the heads of gnomes back into a hole. The game starts out simple and easy but then it can get really fast and hard to complete each level. The graphics are cartoon like and each gnome is unique in how many times you have to hit them or what happens when you hit the wrong gnome. It is a game of fast reaction and not a trigger happy mouse. It will teach you when to strike and when not to strike. There are achievements in the game that motivate you to keep going and beat the game. It can be a challenging game or a stress relieving game to some. If you enjoy braking gnomes and want to get some aggression out on them then this is a game that you shouldn't pass up. Ive enjoyed playing it as a casual play around game and you will enjoy it too!
