Basically, it's an arcade game. It even has an "arcade mode." Yes, some more complex RPG type elements have been added. But if you have played "Black Tiger" or Rastan you sort of get the idea. The story... something to do with a knight and a less than awesome new king and a village and a wife and a demon. Alas, these devs have NOT learned that not everyone can read at THEIR speed so, as my vision is starting to fail and it is hard for me to read scrolling text already, I have little idea what the plot is. I started skipping it fairly early on. All things considered, it does not really seem to make any difference.
If allowed I would give this a neutral review. Wait for a sale. I do not think I would have put 24 quarters into this back in "the day." So, you will have to take my failure to recommend this as more of a "meh." It has some good points. But there are to many fails for a recommend from someone as critical as I tend to be. Sorry devs.
bad game.
Not recommended. There are better games out there. I guess this feels more like a sega game or arcade game than an nes game to me. I don't care for the throwing infinite weapons as fast as possible bullet hell style for a side scroller game. Makes the throwing mechanic kinda useless when you can just spam the x button constantly.. also looks weird when you swing your weapon and it throws ninja stars constantly or whatever the weapons are. Maybe if I played it a bit further I might feel different just don't care for the attack. A separate thrown weapon with a quantity would make more sense to me. Granted its when you upgrade the weapon you start throwing 3 knives etc but necessary to upgrade to move through game. It's not bad for the price especially when on sale but overall rather spend time on games like slain: back from hell.
Is a good attempt in the "difficult" 80's 2D scrollers genre, sadly the horrendous controls made me unistall this game years ago....I may pick it up once again.
Don't recommended at all.
