I love this game. I have since it was originally released...however...the crashing...honestly...
I have the crash patch, but for some reason, the game keeps crashing. I'm too lazy to go in and tweak things because I purchased the game and don't feel I should have to program something because I don't work for Steam...that being said, this is my second purchase of the game, years apart, and I'm a little disappointed that this hasn't been fixed yet.
I don't usually rant, but I just finished a go-kart race, and completed the date with Pinky at the Carnival and I have to do that over again, because the game froze and died.
Steam: fix this!
I love this game and have since I played in originally years ago, and I even suffered through the hourly crashes to get to the end of the storyline in this version, but by that time I wasn't having much fun with this game I enjoy a lot. It's a shame that Rockstar hasn't fixed this so it's actually playable for more than an hour at a time... smart move would probably be to get a refund but I'm holding out hope they'll make it work. In the meantime though, it just doesn't
Bully – A Fun, Mischievous School Adventure!
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
Bully by Rockstar Games is an unforgettable adventure set in the chaotic world of high school life. As Jimmy Hopkins, a rebellious teenager, you’ll navigate the quirky halls of Bullworth Academy, dealing with bullies, making friends, and taking on a variety of hilarious and sometimes intense missions.
The game offers a great open-world experience where you can explore the school, participate in mini-games, attend classes, and even cause a little trouble. The story is engaging, with a nice balance of humor and heartfelt moments, and the characters are wonderfully unique.
While it may not have the same level of polish as some of Rockstar’s other titles, Bully still offers a fantastic time with its charm and creativity. Whether you’re getting into pranks or trying to rise to the top of the school hierarchy, Bully is an experience that stands out.
The most evil thing Jimmy Hopkins could do is not be an Eagles fan IMO
This game is the definiton of a "boy's dream".
Every man once wanted to do these things and day dreamed about it.
Definitely Recommend it
This game is really fun, but this port is kind of trash. You need to install a custom community made patch to properly allocate the game's memory to prevent it from crashing. Even then, the game still crashes pretty frequently. The controls are also pretty rough on PC port. That being said, the missions in this game are extremely fun and it is very entertaining to interact with the environment. The best mission is helping homeless drunk Santa sabotage a real Santa and beat the sh1t out of his elves. It's worth buying if you have the patience to deal with some of the BS.
Classic Rockstar story-rich character-rich game. good to layback and enjoy
This game is a piece of art, but the PC port they did is awful.
If you do get mods to fix things like the widescreen, silentpatch to reduce crashes and cap make you go up to 60, and some other things like I did, its a incredible game, In my 28 hour playthrough I crashed ONCE.
amazing game and one of my favourites of all time but man.. this port is terrible and even with the silent patch my games still crashes pretty often
I'll admit, I'm bias. I adore this stupid game, and I'm not alone in feeling this one is Rockstar's Magnum Opus.
Pros:-
A) An incredibly immersive story, with unique characters. Its pretty clear that Rockstar took influence from S. E. Hinton's the Outsiders and Varsity Blues with Bully.*
B) Attention to detail and aesthetics that have aged gracefully.
Cons:-
A) Requires a bit of messing around to get working properly on a modern machine, thankfully this is all very well documented and easy to do. Once the workarounds have been implemented the game will still exhibit the occasional glitch, but nothing close to game breaking.
B) It never got the sequel it deserved.
* This does come with a caveat. There are a handful of instances where the writing falls short of modern expectations (Particularly in Chapter 4). You have to keep in mind this game was originally released in the same Era of Rockstar (2006) that gave us Manhunt. This one walked so that GTA IV and Red Dead could run.
Such a Great Game , thank god i played it, i would have missed a masterpiece of a game, similiar to other games that i love (yakuza-shenmue) i love these types of games, and it also remindend me of Harry Potter from ps2, i got that feel, i like the story , the lessons , the characthers, and the gameplay 10/10 I had few crashed and had to save everytime and reload and restart the mission etc, but it was fine , not that annoying ;-) if they make bully 2 i will buy it 100 %
Bully: Scholarship Edition is an absolute masterpiece from Rockstar Games. With its unique blend of humor, engaging story, and unforgettable characters, this game delivers an open-world experience like no other. Set in the chaotic yet charming world of Bullworth Academy, it’s a coming-of-age story filled with mischief, drama, and adventure.
The gameplay is incredibly diverse – from pulling pranks and attending classes to exploring the town and taking down bullies, every moment feels fresh and rewarding. The missions are creative, and the mini-games, like dissecting frogs or racing bikes, add a delightful layer of variety.
The charm lies in its quirky atmosphere, witty dialogue, and the perfect dose of nostalgia for anyone who's ever navigated the ups and downs of school life. The remastered version includes updated graphics and additional content, making it even better.
Bully: Scholarship Edition is a must-play for fans of open-world games and Rockstar’s unique storytelling. It’s hilarious, heartwarming, and endlessly entertaining. 10/10 would go back to school again (just to play this game).
stuck in a loop animation before the cutscene, so i have to repeat the same boring long repetitive mission all over again,
I want to preface this by saying: Bully is an absolutely PHENOMENAL game that I highly recommend anyone to play, especially if you're already a fan of open world GTA-style games. This review is not for the game Bully itself, but instead for specifically the PC port of the game that's available for purchase on Steam.
Visually and gameplay-wise, this is a pretty damn good port for an older title in my opinion. It definitely feels like the lighting and textures got a bit of an upgrade since the PS2 era, and there's little to no issues with glitches in the gameplay itself other than the camera getting stuck here and there. The main issue with this port, and the reason why I struggle to recommend it for purchase, is because this game is VERY unstable. The PC port of Bully is infamous in the community for almost being unplayable due to its instability, as the game WILL crash with little to no warning at any point while you're playing, and it will be FREQUENT. The game may crash while loading a new area, while you're loading into a mission, while you're finishing a mission, or even just when you're walking around in the overworld minding your own business trying to get from point A to point B. It's almost impossible to play this game for any amount of time over an hour, if you can even play for that long without it crashing, that's how unstable this build is.
A big part of why the game is unstable as hell is no doubt because it doesn't play with with Windows 10/11, but there's not much that can be done about that since Steam doesn't work on older OS's anymore. There's an avid community of people that have been tirelessly trying to figure out how to keep the game working for longer on a modern OS, which involves a LOT of modding, but even with all the bugfix community made patches and mods the game STILL won't run properly for longer than an hour at best. And, the worst part of all, because the game is so unstable if you attempt to run it in compatibility mode for an OS older than Windows Vista and/or run it in admin mode to assist its stability, the game will refuse to allow you to register any controllers plugged into the computer, which is far and away the optimal way to experience this game as the keyboard and mouse controls are absolutely ATROCIOUS, especially when you're using vehicles like the skateboard and bike.
TLDR: Bully is a GREAT game, with great gameplay, fun characters, a banger soundtrack, and a fantastic story. Unfortunately, the PC port (especially on newer machines) is absolutely awful. If you can find another way to play this game that doesn't involve playing it on steam, I recommend doing that instead, because this port simply does not work without it crashing every 15 minutes.
Fun game! I've been meaning to play it for years and I regret not doing so while I was still in school myself.
Loved skating around town and dripping my boy Jimmy out. I went in blind and was pleasantly surprised that the map is actually a lot bigger than I'd initially thought. It overall feels like a less violent GTA spin-off; which again goes to show that the Rockstar formula always works great, regardless of the setting.
great game, runs smooth and has a decent story line.
there is some bugs but the only one I've experience is having the game close by itself.
sometimes gets annoying because i don't get the time to save my game but other than that I don't have any
complains. its a great game!
لاااااااااااااااااااااااا لاااا افقع ابو داحم افقع ابو داحم وخر عني وخر عني النحسة ابو داحم
worst game.. the game crashe as hell .. after 4 hours i am not able to play due to game breaking crash ... absolutely not worth it.... rockstar should def look into it... stay away from this scam
Minus the game crashing after a while, the story is very solid. The characters are all unique and the game play is very fun, but can be challenging at times. There is a ton to do even after the main story line is complete, but it still leaves me wanting more. Definitely recommend!
Ima bully you into submission and take the hole school is what you want then play this game this was still a time when rockstar had alot of funny ideas i assume to create a masterpiece like this
good for nostalgia sake but this shit keeps crashing after almost every mission it seems, unfortunately not good, sorry to say but yea
30 fps cap with framedrop, game crashing a lot, the control is a mess, the graphics are worst than the mobile version, and the size on the mobile version is a lot lighter too but more optimized. I tried to get used to it but i can't hold it anymore. It's infuriating. its been 2 days since i bought this game and i can't refund it. Anyone pls tell me how to refund this game, i can't stand it anymore.
I would love to leave a positive review, I cannot even get past the 1st cut scene without it crashing, I've tried every mod and patch to fix the issue and it still is prevalent. Truly a garbage port
totally unplayed .#1 unable to use a playstation dualsense controller without having to do multiple unorthadox steps everytime you play the game. #2 It crashes everytime you play it. Awful. Wish I could get my money back !
i use to play this as a kid, its like a PG-13 Grand theft auto! A lot of fun. started playing it again.
this game will crash often if you dont get a mod. but other than that this game rocks
Would not recommend, it crashes and there was no fix, if they say there is, do not get it. I tried it but it crashes, steam will not help with it at all.
It's alrighty, even the PC port is nowdays broken... It can run for hours and hours wihtout any issues such as freezing/crashing etc. Installing Silent Patch helps a lot.
masterpiece, nostalgia for the PS 2 era. playing it again now is really fun
note: this PC port is bad, crashes and can only 30fps. you have to install a mod called BullySilentPatch (https://github.com/CookiePLMonster/SilentPatchBully/releases) to unlock the fps and fix crash issue.
let me start off by saying this is a great game, but this is another rockstar game that is forgotten about and neglected. fix the damn game if you are going to sell it i should not have to mod the game myself to get it to run. buy it on xbox or playstation it actually functions correctly.
EDIT: game is still getting softlocked frequently even after the mods i added to fix it. please just buy the console version.
It started well (humor and actually fun gameplay), but the clunky controls and frequent crashes put me off.
Had a hard time running it on my laptop but a complete classic gem of a game that I've played through on time and time again on consoles over the years
Great Game Especially For the Nostalgia This is in my opinion better than GTA,i prefer the console version and not the scholarship edition butit still does a great job,
Cheers from Germany
During my school years, Bully was always praised as one of the greatest games of the PS2 era, I never really doubted that, however it took me way too long before I actually decided to start playing it. Joyfully, this might be my favorite Rockstar title to date (waiting for GTA VI tho). The story is simple, yet so charming it's hard not to get sad when it ends, the gameplay is also relatively simple, but it works because it's satisfying both unlocking new combat mechanics and figuring out how you can combo them to stun the enemies. Not to mention the amount of content this game have, God you can have a house! I love this so much!
Bully is definitely a classic, loved every single second of it and I will definitely play it again.
u can have max resolution and it still looks like if you were playing games from the perspective of stevie wonder
very very fun game great gameplay & story 8.5/10
run the .exe as windows xp service pack 3 to prevent crashes, and it becomes one of the greats.
Amazing game, probably one of my all-time favorites for several different reasons. however crashing is so frequent and ive tried downloading several different things to fix this, none of it works. i save everytime i complete a mission, it's annoying to do.
dont buy because you probably gonna have a bad thing for how many problem this version of game have. it either crash every 30 min or give you permanent loading screen after couple of mission. even with mod that help to patch this certain issue its still unbearable condition to play. gave me headache by how badly this version is.
one of the greatest rockstar games I've ever played.
10/10 nostalgia
10/10 story
10/10 gameplay
7/10 game optimization
would be great if they give us achievements as well
the story is great but the game optimization is absolutely terrible,horrible....every 3 mins the game gonna force close on itself and screen will be stuck on gameplay and the sound will replay repeatly until the game close or sometimes not...it will be just stuck like that for a hour or 2 then I'll be the one need to force close it...then when i open the game again...my progress is not saved and that is the worst part cuz you have to to do the mission all over again...then the problems repeat again and again.I HATE THIS GAME
Great game, I remember playing this back in the day on a older PlayStation 2 Version of the game but this version includes a few extra features including eight new missions, new characters and more added items. I do highly recommend this game to others!
If I had played Bully when I was in high school, I'm sure it would have been one of the most amazing gaming experiences I've ever had.
However, after all these years, it's still fun.The straightforward story, engaging gameplay and varied activities, fun and catchy music, and a whole bunch of different characters all made me want next Bully.
Score: 9/10
Rockstar Games, please fix the FPS bugs and crashes so this game can at least be playable!!!
And please add the Xbox 360 achievements here on Steam too.
Bully is easily one of Rockstar's most underrated gems, standing proudly alongside GTA: San Andreas and Vice City. You can totally see where their ideas began to take shape, and the humor is just like it used to be—raw and hilarious, especially compared to today’s standards. Absolutely love it!
Rating: 15/10
it keeps crashing and is no fun because i always have to restart because im never able to save before the game crashes
Truly a classic! What other game lets you beat up kids, talk trash, and dunk heads in a toilet? It's unique and alot of fun.. The nostalgia hits hard from when I played this game on the PS2. Rockstar made a cult classic.
It's still an older game with PS2/Xbox360 graphics and all the charm (issues) that older games tend to have, the pc port on steam runs fairly well.. I've had a few crashes, but nothing crazy. If you don't like crude humor, pranks, or "bullying" you might not like it as much, but I say give it a try! I love this game :)
This game has genuinely been the biggest pain in my ass. I finish a mission and as I run to go and save my game it crashes and doesn't autosave. I search up tutorials on how to fix the crashing issue and it doesn't even help. This game would be a work of art if it wasn't bending you over randomly. Other than that the game is really fun and I like the story. Buy the game when its on sale if you don't care about crashing

Why you should play it:
* School as a playground: Explore the school and town freely.
* Unique characters: Every student has a distinct personality.

What's lacking:
* Dated graphics: Some parts look a bit outdated.
Conclusion:
Bully: Scholarship Edition is a fun game to pass the time. Although the graphics are a bit old, the story and gameplay are still addictive.
