even though this game is definitely lacking in some areas, what i think SLW got right that forces didn't was the mobility
sonic felt slippery and smooth, and at times, i was having fun
is it bad in some places? yeah
but this game was one of my favorite wii u games, so yeah
how is this game even in the franchise i know its the first Prequel To Sonic Forces with Zavok & the story line in this is great but the mechanics are Annoying like every single time you tried to dodge or jump the game will say that you didn't dodge or jump or use the power ups as will & please do not remake this before you fix the mechanics in this one sega i know this game is old but if a remake happens on this game just please fix the mechanics after you remake sonic 2006 & i don't understand the lore on this because i thought this game will tell how sonic Turned into Metal but it was tails that was metal tails but he didn't destroy sonic like he did in secret histories & other story lines but not in prime because sonic's ah friendship love for him is wild
See, I always want to start with positives with any game I play, but for Sonic Lost World, there's genuinely only one good thing that isn't *immediately* undercut by something bad, and it's the music. But Sonic Lost World is almost painfully mediocre. The story is standard Sonic stuff, and none of the twists pan out to anything interesting. The Deadly Six are frankly all forgettable (I genuinely forgot about one of them entirely) except for Zavok, and that's only because he's shown up in other Sonic games for some fucking reason.
I would say that a Sonic game with Super Mario Galaxy like gravity would be interesting... if the level design wasn't actually terrible. Every level is a long twisting cylinder, and it's just boring. The one level that does something remotely interesting with this is Honeycomb Highway, and that's an auto-runner. Ironic that that would be my favorite.
The aesthetic would be cool, but honestly it's hard to really notice.
I'd still give it a 5/10 for trying, but I don't personally like it.
It's definitely a unique Sonic game.
oh boy this game is an absolute classic yes indeed! it reminds me of my wife because she brings me beer while i play!
Genuine garbage. Bad controls and cringe writing. Lots of mistakes deaths are simply the game and control's fault. Your average modern sonic game if not a bit lower than that. Why the hell is there a life system?
not great gameplay plus its slow
turn voices off, skip all cutscenes, and you can have a pretty good time with this game.
i dont know what happened at sonic team but the writing and va direction is beyond saving.
my worst experiences with this game were one level that had the 5th red ring right before an (almost) unavoidable checkpoint, so missing it required playing the whole level again, and several instances of the game simply not teaching its mechanics (specifically: when to use the kick) properly. i dont know if they put them in the little hints that pop up because often times the hints were super simple things like "use a homing attack to cross the gap" like no SHIT. but i just never bothered opening them for that reason.
100% completion isnt hard whatsoever, but it is quite tedious and time consuming since you have to do all 100 missions (each of which has a steam achievement tied to it).
shoutout those rail levels loved those
Sega: "Huh, people really liked the way Sonic Generations played, what should we do to keep this momentum going? GOT IT, WE COMPLETELY CHANGE THE CORE GAMEPLAY STYLE TO COPY MARIO BECAUSE NOW WE NEED TO PANDER TO THAT CROWD INSTEAD."
Seriously, what were they thinking?? They finally got boost formula down pat and then they completely pivot away from it to copy Mario? AND they brought the Wisps back in a way that's 1000 times worse than Colors? AND INSTEAD OF ANY MEANINGFUL MOMENTUM, THEY ADDED A RUN BUTTON, WHICH YOU CANT EVEN COMPARE TO BOOSTING BECAUSE IT'S 100 TIMES SLOWER AND DOESN'T EVEN DAMAGE ENEMIES. The parkour system had potential but had nothing going for it at the end of the day because:
The stages all suck. Environments are generic and bland, the level design itself is just meaningless platforming, and the whole thing reeks of uninspired design. I mean, Windy Valley is literally just Green Hill AGAIN, and every other stage is just [insert generic environment here].
I loathe the fact that this game exists in lieu of another proper boost game, and that it then took us another DECADE to get one from there because of the damage this game and its successor did to the franchise.
I grew up with this on Wii u and was very saddened to see how painfully mediocre it is, don't get me wrong it has it's moments, but overall it is just an absolute slog to get through after a while as around half of the levels are just complete garbage.
A Sonic game piggybacking off of Mario with mid controls, clunky physics, cringey dialogue, and unlikeable characters.
But on the bright side, it has elements from the cancelled Sonic X-Treme and of course the soundtrack is decent.
In this 3 hours iv'e been enjoying the multiples mechanics that this game have.
This game does NOT feel right as a Sonic game. The game feels VERY slow.
Sonic Lost World was originally released in 2013 for the Wii U and ported to PC in 2015. It was released after the excellent Sonic Generations, so a model of what makes a great Sonic game was already there. Instead, this game tries to capitalize on Super Mario Galaxy, which is great and works because it’s a different, slower platformer.
Sonic, however, should be fast, so it’s not an easy task to translate that gameplay to the cylindrical style of Galaxy levels. Unfortunately, Sega didn’t manage to overcome this challenge, resulting in a very average Sonic title.
But the game has other problems. The biggest one is the controls; they don’t feel as smooth and responsive as they should be. It’s hard to control in the air, especially if you need to do some precise platforming. On the ground, it feels a bit slippery. Also, the game does a terrible job of explaining the controls.
When you couple these controls with mediocre level design, that’s when things get frustrating. To be fair, the first worlds aren’t too bad, but when the game becomes harder and has more gimmicks, that’s when you notice that the level design doesn’t mix well with the controls. Ice sections, for example, are awful to play.
If you’re aiming for 100% completion, things get worse. Collecting some of the red rings is a pain, especially the ones that require tricky wall running. And your reward is just Super Sonic as a post-game bonus, but most modern Sonic games do the same. You can also speedrun the stages, but there’s no reward for that, so it’s entirely optional.
The game also has 100 extra missions, which are annoying to complete because only 3 are available at a time, and progress isn’t retroactively tracked, meaning you need to replay a lot of stages to complete them all. I like the objectives; it’s just these restrictions that artificially extend game time that annoy me.
And the PC port is bad. The UI is low-resolution, the Wii U interface is retained, there are severe jaggies because there’s no anti-aliasing, and the game overall doesn’t look that good. At least there are mods that fix some of these issues, which I recommend.
But don’t get me wrong, Sonic Lost World isn’t bad, just average and disappointing after Sonic Generations since it doesn’t follow that great gameplay. I enjoyed the story as well, although the bosses are kind of weak. The soundtrack isn’t memorable either.
But if you are a Sonic fan, get this on sale, and with your expectations a bit lower, you can still enjoy this. Once again, it’s not a bad game, just average. I recommend it but would give it a neutral rating if I could.
its good and all but it crashes alot and not have audio pls fix
This is not a Sonic game, it's Shovelware. Even the music is a let down.
I'd rather play Sonic 06 and let the camera make me nauseous.
shit was mid, 100% ass, leaves it negative
I gotta be honest, I didn't think I would enjoy this as much as I am. It takes a bit of getting used to, especially because the tutorials are in plain text and accompanied by an unpleasant noise, but once you do, zooming around feels awesome. Graphics look good, music is competing with Sonic Adventure for my favorite in the series, and cutscenes feature some charming and funny interactions.
I have some gripes, though. The Deadly Six are pretty bland, wall running and lock-on attack tend to activate at weird times, Wisps are kinda forced, and I can definitely see the Mario Galaxy influence. Still, though, this is a fun game and I recommend it, especially when it goes on sale.
Es war echt langweilig und mit all denn anderen Sonic spielen vergliechen war es schlecht und echt langweilig ich würde euch empfehlen lieber zu sparen und euch sonic x shadow Generations zukaufen
Erm... well... that was certainly... something.
Not a good game, but not the worst sonic game out there. They tried something different during the wii u era and it was ok at best.
100% percent wise its alright, the red rings only get you super sonic and its very underwhelming i only used it like twice, and the achievements are a grind but most of it can get done whilst playing the actual main story so they're ok, its a bit grindy towards the end but overall nothing crazy.
I'd recomend playing it if you're a sonic fan otherwise maybe just play sonic x shadow or frontiers if youre looking to get into the franchise
it's a pretty decent sonic game i guess
Sonic but if it was like, a Disney Channel Live Action Comedy Show?
Super slow paced which is not Sonic's style. Some of the levels aren't designed super well, and almost all of the bosses are way too easy.
its alright like...
Ngl This game is a 6/10. but i am bias since i remember playing this game on the wii and i loved it as a kid so it had its charm like the cutscenes and eggmans fake sacrafice also this game had really good looking levels its just they all got too difficult at the end and unfair also it was really easy to get lives and its just basically a mario game but still pretty solid it had its momments
This game is pretty decent. Not amazing, but good. A solid 7/10, but sometimes that's all you need. The music and presentation is nice, stage design is serviceable, and the story is pleasing enough. A good game, worth it on sale. This really is Sonic's answer to Mario Galaxy. If that's enough for you, then go for it. Worth your time.
Do you remember that fellow named Sonic ? Always messing with the wrong guys... he can be glad to have Tails, because, like my old Ma used to say, Sonic wouldn't have gone so far without that good old squirrel, and sure he can praise the lord for that !
this game makes me feel like sonic should have let the world stay lost
People have all sorts of opinions about Sonic games that I think are too harsh but man does this one fucking suck ass
while not the best this is a pretty fun game,it's about 3 hours long but for 20 dollars that's not bad at all, also i never got why people want 30 hour games,i mean i get wanting the game you spent 60 or 70 dollars on to last a while, but i think games shoud be better not longer, but yeah the game's good.
this game is just SOOOOO mid... it feels so slow and clunky.
It’s so cool and awesome
I'd give it a 7/10 or 8/10
50% of the game is great (2d sections), 50% of the game is decent (3d sections)
I think the biggest issue people have with this game is that it doesn't really teach players well on how to use the mechanics, so they end up frustrated and blame something like level design or momentum. For example, Sonic can actually move pretty quick in this game thanks to the infinite spin dash, but many people (including Dunkey lol) didn't even know that this was a feature, so they hate the game not realizing they're playing it incorrectly. In reality, I don't think momentum matters at all in this game because it's supposed to play more like a Mario game than a Sonic game, ironically enough. Also the level design is actually pretty solid once you learn how things work.
So to put it simply, the game is pretty fun and the levels are replayable, but get yourself comfortable with the inputs and how the mechanics work so you don't end up struggling.
yall ik this game sucks but its fun if you add the improvement mod
(sonic doesnt lose speed when turning)
well where did he last have it
I am steve
The most average experience i've played in a long while. it isn't perfect, but it isn't bad by any means. i got it on sale for 7 dollars, but the 30-ish it usually runs for isn't overpriced in my eyes.
This is a hidden gem that should stay hidden.
For a sonic game it's ridiculously slow
The only good thing about this game, at a push is the music
Not only that the controls are a bit finicky at first
Admittedly I laughed a few times at some cutscenes, the game certainly has it's charm i'm sure for some people,
But it's nothing special and is actually quite forgettable, when going for 100% in this game I even forgot super sonic was in Sonic Lost World...
Actual game length for me was 4 hours, so it's a nice short one if you're up for it.
It's a cute fun game. Nothing special and is highly forgettable but, it's fun. I'd recommend you check it out.
(Also, bosses are stupid easy.)
Sonic Lost World is... okay, I guess? But honestly, it doesn’t feel like a real Sonic game. The story’s nothing special, and the gameplay is just kind of meh. It’s more fun than frustrating, but those moments don’t stick with you. The slow movement when trying to go left or right? Super annoying. The Wisps? I can’t stand them. They feel tacked on and don’t belong here at all. The multi-homing attack is probably one of the few things I liked about the gameplay.
The graphics? Way too childish and cartoony. It feels more like I’m playing a Mario game with Sonic characters slapped in. As a Mario-style platformer, sure, it works. But as a Sonic game? It’s a letdown. I will say, I liked Sonic’s attitude, and Eggman has his threatening moments, which is cool—but those moments don’t save the overall experience.
In the end, I did have fun at times, but I also didn’t. It’s not terrible, but it’s far from great. If you’re looking for a proper Sonic game, this isn’t it.
This is a hidden gem that should stay hidden. 👺
The one thing this game does well is the music. For a sonic game its pretty slow, and the mechanics feel janky. I hate to say I would rather play Sonic 06.
I mean its alright like...
its like mario but sonic and you go fast you should play it
Sonic lost world is OK. very flawed but OK.
The game design is pretty bad in areas, does a poor job at teaching the player its mechanics I mean I didn't even know how to activate the hints on my first run. the controls are very intricate but the game never slows down to explain anything, which wouldn't be too bad in most other sonic games but this games play style and control are very different.
the level design feels like it's throwing everything at you with no warning, expects you to adapt things poorly introduced. and the game can't seem to decide if it wants to focus on its expansive control having the levels focus on wall running rail grinding and such, or have a metric shit ton of random unrelated level mechanics like giant moving apples and much worse the stupid rolling snowball.
this game wants to be about parkour and gravitational movement so why is there a level that plays like fucking Flappy bird?
with that said though once you understand the parkour and the game focuses on that, it's genuinely fun with a lot of replay ability in the move set and secret routs and pathways in the levels. the pacing gets ruined by things like "jump on these clouds for 2 minutes" or "kick and home dash these spiders 6 times" or "kill this stupid turtle boss" but the game can still be a lot of fun despite this.
I actually like the wisp's more here than in colours, because the slower nature of this games fits the slower nature of the wisp's then something like a boost sonic game would. but I don't like the bosses their pathetically easy and go down too fast with the charged homing attack.
the music is great, I love windy hill, the main theme, the deadly six theme, and the under water rail level music is bliss. the game has great graphics and sound but the level themes are too generic for a sonic game, and the animation is stiff in cut scenes.
but you know what the deadly sixes animation looks good, weird that there more expressive than sonic tails and Eggman so I guess sonic team just has a hard time with their designs.
the story is fine but HOLY SHIT the writing is fucking awful. sonic is so whiny and un funny, tails is just a asshole, Eggman is fine but the deadly six are so boring there personality's are so two dimensional.
Punk
fat
old
girl
depressed
and evil
that's their personality in full, the fat one, girl one, and depressed one are pretty offensive stereotypes as well I think personally.
I don't even remember there names...
Lastly I want to talk about this line tails said in the game...
every one is always making fun of "its no use" or "wheres that dam fourth chaos emerald" but honestly those lines aren't really dumb or stupid, as much as they are charming.
but this line from tails is the peak of confusion...
"I built a TV using paper clips, and reprogrammed a super computer using dishwasher detergent and a tooth pick"
....
I'm sorry but WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!? ARE HIGH!? WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING TAILS CAN I HAVE SOME?
WHAT THE FUCK EVEN COMPELS SOMEONE TO REPROGRAM A PC WITH DISHWASHER DETERGENT!? WHY NOT JUST REPROGRAM IT WITH NORMAL TOOLS AND YOUR FUCKING HANDS!? TO PROVE A POINT!? WHAT POINT THE END OF THE TOOTH PICK!? BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!?
So anyway tangent aside, sonic lost world is FINE. very flawed but FINE.
I've played every mainline 3d sonic and this is not the worst, nor the best. the most middle of the road game of them all.
in between the best and worst of 3d sonic.
Opinions will be varied but as far as mine goes,
It is FINE.
6/10 I'm going to go make a gun using yogurt that I put in the microwave with a fork.
it's just a bad version of Mario Galaxy
Pros:
Great music
Nice looking worlds
Most of the levels aren't bad
In my opinion fun (but easy) final boss
The villains have a cool design
Cons:
Controls feels weird
Too many boss fights
Bosses are too easy or frustrating
Getting all the achievements is long and boring
The world map feels weird to navigate through
Wisps are back and not in a good way
Levels feels too gimmicky
The story goes nowhere (i know its a Sonic game but still)
It's the most middle of the road game i have ever played 5/10, get it on sale if you're bored
idk its kinda gay but whatever
funny dialog
