Fun game. Or SHELL I say, SHOCKingly fun....
You can laugh now.
Stupid fun tank battling with friends.
It's really neat how you level up and unlock stuff, even in private lobbies with friends.
This is one of those games you tell yourself you’ll just dip into for a quick look—maybe five or ten minutes, tops. But then something magical happens: you take your first turn, then another, and suddenly you’re hooked, bargaining with yourself for "just one more turn." Before you know it, hours have passed, and you're completely engrossed in a world you had no intention of staying in for so long.
The gameplay is so seamless, so well-crafted, that it effortlessly pulls you into its rhythm. Each decision feels meaningful, each turn packed with potential, and the hours slip away as you strategize, experiment, and immerse yourself in this incredible experience. It’s the kind of fun that’s not just enjoyable but borderline addictive—in the best way possible.
If you’re looking for a game that will truly captivate your attention and challenge your sense of time management, this is it. Just be warned: you might go in for a quick peek and end up staying for the whole show. Highly recommend this one—it’s an absolute delight.
good learnig curve and kinda addicting
I used to play this game back in 2016-2018. Back when the hype for it had reached my eyes and its probable peak had been reached.
Let's just say that this game is still great and still holds up after all this time.
Even if you get targeted at the start of a match and are the first one to die, the game is still fun to watch.
Can't say that about some games, so a game like that is definitely high up there, don't you think?
This game is great to play if you also want to do something like watch a YouTube video on the side or something. That's what I do anyway. Sometimes the music is a bit repetitive, but it's still good, so I never turn it off. It's as casual as you want it to be, especially with all the gameplay modifiers, though I never play on the others, I just like the default of shooting more or less visually pleasing things and testing my accuracy.
Just creating a lobby and waiting for some randoms to show up, all the people I've played with have been casual and chill. You might have a different experience though, as I usually name my lobbies with "casual" in the title so that people know they can just join for the hell of it.
No idea what my experience was back when I originally got the game all those years ago, but I remember SSundee getting me into it, back when he peaked lol. I liked the game back then.
My old Steam account that I had gotten stolen back in 2020, and subsequently got back 4 years later says I have 19 achievements done, so I know I played it a fair bit at the very least.
Very cool game and I really like it. Ive been playing since 2020 and its still really fun would definitely recommend to other people looking for a fun and chill online game to try out.
here recently doing a security dive into this game we have found out that it opens SVC host (which it shouldnt) tries to do an appx deployment and for some reason gets your secureboot state and bios version.
some of this is common info and cool and all, but also it's inside many registrys that it shouldnt.
Why does a game need cmd line level stuff?
kChamp, this is a shameful thing.
edited: found out it's LITERALLY cryptomining through debug stuff and looking at what its sending in and out.
fun side scroll tank game, you should go through practice alone before jumping into multiplayer. Tons of weapons and upgrade variety
I noticed a lot of other reviews mention the fact that they wish there was a player vs ai mode besides the training in single player but there is. it's not nearly as good as online but it does deserve to be mentioned.
ShellShock is an amazing game for whenever you just want to relax and shoot some tanks. the community for the most part is really nice too and you can have really good laughs during your time playing.
the beginning is quite grindy which can be annoying but once you start to unlock more weapons and upgrades the game becomes more enjoyable the more you play and i highly recommend at least trying the game out if it looks like your cup of tea.

Quite honestly, if you like this type of game, just go out and buy almost any of the worms games. This is Worms but in less balanced and with a worse play experience overall.
Let's start off with the good points though:
- very wide array of weapons
- rather open upgrade system
- easy to pick up
- great to quickly hop into a game with friends that isn't supposed to take ages
And with the negatives:
- Tank Level system takes literal ages, the XP one needs for lvl 100 is heavily overblown. By the time one reaches level 100 to unlock the final weapon, the game is either completely stale or you have only played it from time to time over a span of multiple years
- the "ranked" system is placebo
- weapon levels are weird. One levels weapons by hitting them, which in itself is not a bad idea, but having lower level weapons than your opponent basically decides a round before it starts.
- You basically NEED to have people around the same level as you are in both weapon and tank level. Match against someone with 20 levels (out of 100) above and the game is basically not playable.
- To expand on the previous point, level gaps get increasingly larger, eg reaching lvl 70 requires about 30k XP, level 100 requires about 880k. While this easens "running away" with levels, even a few levels are a difference that's frustrating to obtain.
- The single player missions for the most part are either too easy or require quite a bit of good RNG for the most part. There isn't much in the game to skill check at all.
All in all, it's fine if you want to play it with friends but then again, the worms games will do the same in a better and more balanced way. It's a game that is inexpensive, but many of you will probably not ever use all of the content, because it takes 100s of hours to even unlock every single weapon.
Doesn,t need good graphics, and is super fun to play.
honestly, i didn't expect such a "simple" game to pull me in like it does, but it's actually really enjoyable. and whilst it requires some skill, it's also perfect for a relaxing evening. plus, suprisingly, the community is extremely nice. everyone is just there to have a good time and land the coolest trickshot.
got back to it after, like, 4 years of not playing it and it's just as enjoyable.
What's the point of having a gun when you can't aim?
tank fires gun. good game
do not download, After a few hundred hours this game is dying and no one moderates the game. Hackers now freely have started to roam and 90 percent of people are toxic and racist
Great game. its fun but will take awhile to get the good weapons.
ShellShock is a great game to play with friends when you want to just chill and not take seriously i also feel like it helps with cognitive function because you have to think 3 steps ahead in order to win its a blast i love this game so much
ShellShock Live: Who Needs Beauty When You’ve Got Explosions?
Let’s be honest—whoever said a game needs mind-blowing graphics to be fun clearly hasn’t played ShellShock Live. This arcade-style gem takes the "simple is better" philosophy, cranks up the explosions, and delivers a multiplayer experience that’s as chaotic as it is addictively fun. Think Worms or Gunbound, but distilled into its purest, most explosive form.
Gameplay: 9/10
ShellShock Live keeps things simple: you and your opponents control tanks, take turns shooting crazy weapons at each other, and watch the battlefield devolve into glorious chaos. With dozens of weapons—ranging from simple missiles to things like a literal black hole—it’s a game where strategy meets pure, unfiltered mayhem.
Much like Worms or Gunbound, the key to success is mastering angles, predicting enemy movements, and embracing the fact that half the time, your shots will hilariously miss. But hey, it’s not about winning—it’s about watching your opponent get annihilated by a banana bomb.
Graphics: 7/10
This isn’t a game that’s trying to dazzle you with photorealism. The graphics are clean, colorful, and perfectly suited to the arcade style. Every explosion is satisfying, every shot feels impactful, and the simple art direction ensures that the chaos on-screen never becomes overwhelming.
It’s not next-gen, but who cares? When your "Super Cat" weapon is bouncing around the screen causing havoc, you’re too busy laughing to notice the lack of ray tracing.
Multiplayer Mayhem: 10/10
The real joy of ShellShock Live is its multiplayer. Whether you’re playing 1v1 duels, chaotic free-for-alls, or team battles, every match feels like a test of skill, luck, and your ability to laugh off your own mistakes.
Got a friend group? Perfect—this game will destroy friendships faster than Monopoly. Got no friends? No problem—online matchmaking ensures you’ll always have someone to pulverize (or be pulverized by).
Weapons & Strategy: 10/10
The sheer variety of weapons is what makes ShellShock Live a masterpiece. Each shot feels like its own mini-game—do you try for a direct hit with a sniper, lob a grenade to catch someone hiding, or just say "screw it" and launch a nuke? The choice is yours.
It’s a game that rewards both strategic thinking and absolute chaos, often in the same turn. Plus, as you level up, you unlock even crazier weapons, keeping the gameplay fresh and unpredictable.
Community: 8/10
The player base is surprisingly chill for a competitive game. Sure, there’s the occasional salty opponent who’ll rage-quit after a particularly humiliating shot, but for the most part, it’s a fun and friendly crowd. And let’s be real—half the fun is trolling your friends with ridiculously lucky trick shots.
Nostalgia Factor: 10/10
If you’re a fan of Worms or Gunbound, this game will hit you right in the nostalgia. It’s a modern take on the classic artillery battle formula, but with enough unique features to stand on its own. It’s like reconnecting with an old friend who’s somehow even cooler now.
Final Verdict: 9/10
ShellShock Live proves that flashy graphics aren’t necessary to create an incredible gaming experience. With its chaotic gameplay, endless weapon variety, and hilarious multiplayer matches, it’s a game that’s easy to pick up but impossible to put down.
So, whether you’re a Worms veteran, a Gunbound nostalgic, or just someone who loves blowing things up, this game has something for you. Fire up your tank, grab some friends (or strangers), and get ready for some beautiful, explosive chaos.
Fine for a free port of an old flash game. Early game progression is abysmal, and really impedes the fun factor.
dead game, crack heads, never updates, shit game

Really fantastic game and experience. Wish sometimes I could just play solo/offline against bots but it's still great. Lots of fun if you have a few friends that play with you too!
It is a very fun game to play especially if you play with friends.
absolute banger game with superb dev support and updates, great playerbase and highly perfected leveling system/shop/experience as a whole. HIGHLY recommend this game even at full price.
Shoot Tank. Upgrade Tank. Great Succes
if you like to write out all of your feelings in a chat and people will answer back and not report you, this the game for you. 10/10 would call someone the N-word again
As much as I would like to recommend this game, I feel like it is too grindy to truly recommend. The different shots you can have as well as items and arena layouts are fantastic in their own right, but the progression in this game being tied to online play is a bummer. Sometimes a man just wants his goofy weapons and some bots to kill.
I grew up playing Scorched Earth and Scorched Earth 2000, this game captures an itch I had to play that type of game again in a multiplayer context with friends. I still wish Scorch2000 was up and playable for some nostalgia and a few particular weapon mechanics, but this is a classic artillery game infused with Mario Kart energy and a healthy dose of pop gaming references that give it a character all its own. If you are looking for a pick up and play game with short rounds to play with up to 8 friends, it's great. If you want to insult the mothers of German speaking strangers while dropping seagull poop on them, you can do that, too.
I've got a few real trivial nit-picks, like wishing I could see daily jobs without leaving the lobby, but once you get knocked out of a round, you can play Pong while watching your friends raid your tank-corpse for weapons, so that makes up for it.
There's a content store to buy premium stuff with cosmetic points and gears, but you can slowly accumulate both just by playing the game, and the vast majority of weapons and upgrades are accessible via a fairly straightforward progression, much of which can be done through single player practice/training course missions.
This one is definitely worth a shot!
Such a fun game.
They keep you hooked by giving you cooler and cooler weapons over time. Gives you a reason to keep playing. It is very skill-based, with a bit of luck in what your starting weapons are. Eh, overall I love how fun this game is. Simple but very, very effective.
i loved the game it takes tactics strategy and even a hard grind for such a "simple"game

🚀 BOOM! 💥
ShellShock Live is pure chaos in tank form. You think it’s just aim and fire? Think again. It’s a battlefield of precision, wild guesses, and the occasional accidental betrayal. Calculating trajectories feels like rocket science, except your rockets usually end up in your friend’s face. And the physics? Let’s just say you’ll go from rookie tanker to “professor of angles” in no time—right before you miscalculate and blow yourself up.
Friendships are tested, alliances crumble, and trust evaporates faster than a well-placed nuke. One moment you're laughing at a perfect shot; the next, you're apologizing for accidentally obliterating your teammate. But that’s the magic: the chaos, the laughter, the revenge.
Every shot feels like a gamble. Will it land? Will it miss? Or will it cause a chain reaction that sends everyone into hysterics? No match is ever the same, and every explosion is just another reason to keep coming back.
10/10. My friends hate me now, but we’ll still “accidentally” nuke each other again tomorrow.
This was so much fun to level up and unlock new fun weapons. My Grandpa loved it so much he started yelling and screaming about war, it made me also want get into the role playing part of the game and it made it so much more fun
pretty shit game with multiple maps where I can't even see my tank on screen at my resolution while tank keeps getting stuck in single player . . . waste of money. . .
REAL GOOD GAME YEAH LETS GO YEAH
Good game
The only thing that I don't like in this game is people being cunts on purpose.
Love this game, reminds me of pocket tanks from back in the day. Great thing to play with friends when you don't know what else to play
Very fun game, Easy to get into and easy to learn.
super fun playing together, solo play is as good as spide rheck
I used to play this game all the way back to when it was on Kongregate. Pleased to say that it's the same great game I remember from back then with some noticeable improvements. And what's even better is that it doesn't take up a mountain of space on my drive.
This game was so good my neighbour Eugene issued an ICC arrest warrant for me. Luckily I am actually Benjamin Satanyahu so yayy.
10.1/10.0 very fun
Great game to ruin friendships and cut family ties
Broken Game. Unplayable for Ultra WideScreen users, and no rewards are added after daily spin.
A great spin on the classic!
Impossible to play as a new player if you find it fun to win any game, the second it's just you and some sweaty no life 3000 hour lvl 100 guy who has 10 different weapons that will kill you regardless of where you are on the map or your HP, the game is over, you might as well leave and find a new lobby.
if you're into either A. permanently taping a protractor to your screen B. memorizing spreadsheets of angles just to not miss every single shot or C. grinding XP for 100 hours straight to get the actually usable weapons then this game is for you, if you're mentally stable skip it, there's only like 1 enjoyable ish server that pops up every couple of hours but it's not worth waiting for something like that to show up
I really like the game but my friend coribanani is really good with the snake so please remove the snake from him!!!!!!!!
If you want a random number generator that hates you, play this game. You won't get any of the weapons you recently unlocked, the Rebound gamemode doesn't generate bumpers that let you actually hit something with them, and the teaming...oh, don't get me started on the teaming! There is absolutely nothing that balances the teams so it could literally be a team of level 100's against a team of new players. KChamp, if you're reading this, please make some of the RNG not completely random so the game is more enjoyable
simple but fun
Chill game. Most everyone in chat is nice.
