Very dedicated developer.
10/10
Great game and I am loving resource gathering and building, tonnes of things to do in this game 10/10.
great game
You can build anything looking really good and nice servers out
Great game, very relaxing and enjoyable to play.
Amazing.
The game recently switched from a Java engine to Unity, so they are re-implementing a lot of stuff, but as long as the developer keeps going it has a lot of potential. If you like to explore and build things, this game will provide you with a decent experience, but there isn't any real gameplay beyond that.
Hidden Gem for Sandbox Enthusiasts
Rising World is an absolute treasure for anyone who loves open-world sandbox games. Whether you're a creative builder, an adventurous explorer, or someone who enjoys a relaxing survival experience, this game has something for you.
The game's core strength lies in its incredible depth and versatility. The building system is one of the most detailed I've encountered. With a powerful grid and precision toolset, you can create anything from rustic cabins to sprawling castles with intricate details. The ability to manipulate blocks, textures, and even objects in such a fine-tuned manner gives players true creative freedom.
Exploration is equally rewarding. The vast, procedurally generated world is rich with forests, mountains, caves, and lakes, each beautifully crafted and immersive. The sense of discovery, especially when stumbling upon unique biomes or hidden resources, keeps the game fresh and exciting.
The developers are dedicated and actively improving the game, which is fantastic. Frequent updates have steadily introduced new features, improved visuals, and enhanced game-play mechanics. The shift to Unity has also resulted in impressive graphical improvements and smoother performance.
One of the standout aspects is the multiplayer mode. Teaming up with friends to build towns, explore caverns, or simply survive together makes Rising World incredibly engaging. The modding community further expands the possibilities, adding custom content, features, and game-play tweaks.
If you enjoy creative freedom, immersive worlds, and endless possibilities, Rising World is a must-play. It's a game that rewards patience and imagination, and with its active development, the future looks even brighter. Highly recommended for sandbox and survival game lovers alike!
This game has come a LONG way since I first got it years ago. The game play is now good! The realism is off the charts!! Building and crafting is logical and, maybe a little detailed, very cool. Would definitely recommend. I would call it Minecraft for mature adults.
good amount of cows, can recommend
I tried this game out when before they released the "New Version". It felt too old for its time and quite clunky. As a Game Designer myself I could see it's potential but it just wasn't keeping me hooked. Now with the new version it's much more intuitive, a lovely chill experience. It's now a game that is easy to learn if you've played any other survival building game.
What makes you stay?
The graphics, the unique ways of crafting and the limitless potential you have in bringing your creations to life.
A great sandbox game. Very large map. 3 different biomes. underground caves are poorly implemented and tedious to go down and back out of. Tons of building materials and crafting items. Building structures is unique and takes getting used to but has great potential for building anything. F2 makes you fly and it will be your main traversal method. No real goals though. Not really a game but a sandbox to play in. No large adversairies to overcome. Would recommend though.
always wanted a more realistic version of minecraft and this is pretty much it. im loving it so far !!
The game has enough content to not give it a No recommendation, but it needs more. My biggest complaint is Aluminum. 40 hours into the game and I cannot find aluminum. Next level workbenches all require aluminum and it has been impossible to find, even in the mountains and mountain caves. There are plenty of animals, but you cannot domesticate them without mods. You could have eggs from chickens, wool from sheep, milk from goats and cows but all you can do is harvest them for meat and hide. 40 hours in and I have a big farm but all I can cook are bread and cookies and roast meat. Base building is interesting. You make small blocks, not large foundations. A foundation is something like Ark would be 25 blocks in Rising World. It give you a lot more flexibility in base building. Sadly, that is about all of the lure of this game so far is base building. 10 years old, I would have expected a more diverse game.
great game but needs better water physics like running water almost like Minecraft
gg
I bought this game few years ago and it's improving nicely.
World is huge, beautiful (views are really great!), game mechanics is also very good (seasons, day/night cycle, temperature).
Building is also fun - huge possbilities.
Journal is very good - all necessery knowledge is there.
This game has huge potential and after some time it will be a real jewel.
All I miss after last update is content: more recipes (equipment, tools, outfits, etc.), higher difficulity, quests maybe?
Devs - keep up good work!
it used to be a great game untill the got rid of the planks and changed it to blocks
Its a fun game, At first it was pretty bland but they are always adding new updates to make it better
Really enjoyable survival multiplayer experience. The recent updates fixed a lot of issues the game had previously and added a ton of good content.
Im absolutely loving the new version but you are completely evil for the random spider down the tunnel
Followed this game since 2020, ive been waiitng for the new version for soo long ahhaa, ive made this review hoping the dev will see this thank you so much for this game i loved the old version but this new version with modern graphics is just my dream come true thank you again !!!!!!!!
Ever since the last update I haven't been able to get on either versions of the game. Fatal Error before even getting to the main screen??????????
Hi game players. I really enjoyed the rising world. It makes me feel like I'm leaving a second life. For some people might be corny and weird. but I enjoy the building. The nice view of the landscape. and try to survive. during the four seasons. Spring, summer fall. and winter. In some ways, I call that one year in this. game version. Nice thing about it, you can. stay realistic. without monsters. Or if you like monsters, you can turn it on. and challenge yourself. It's still in the making and being improved, so it has its moments. but overall, if you keep a great. spirit you can enjoy the game enormously if. this is the kind of game you enjoy. Have fun.
Honestly blown away. I've played this a couple of times in the past, and while cool, it never felt complete. Even though it's still rough around the edges in some spots, it's quite enjoyable and looks significantly better than the previous Java version. I recommend picking it up and supporting the devs. They could've easily just marketed the new version as a new game and sold it again. I picked up another copy for a friend, and another one is going to buy it that's how good it is. I hope to see the game gain popularity because they deserve it.
This is a wonderful game. If you want minecraft with more complicated building and better graphics and some good and interesting mechanics then this is your game. For the people complaining about the building, ignore them because they are misinformed. You can get a tool to return building materials to you (sledgehammer) and you can move furniture/chests/etc by holding the F button
Yes building is confusing and complicated at first but there is a guide available. It'll have a prompt that says F1 I believe and it'll show you the controls for building. It gives you tons of freedom, creativity and a lot of detail to work with.
Are there problems in this game? Probably. I haven't come across anything that bothers me yet. Oh the animal AI could use some work, the wolves are a little easy to deal with and some just don't attack you before you kill them with the most basic of weapons. Then again, that doesn't really bother me. I'm not concerned with combat in games like these. I also hear a specific resource is hard to find but I'm not to that point yet so idk how bad it really is or if that's been fixed in these recent updates.
Over all I believe this game is worth a look for any fan of the survival/crafting/building genres. Especially at the sale price.
Good. Looking nice after updates. Keep on keeping on! :)
Nice little sandbox in the works. Lots of features, runs smoothly. Too tired to write anything right now. Just wanted to give my thumbs up.
An extremely impressive game made by a solo indie developer who has now already devoted 15+ years to this little gem. That kinda devotion to a single game shows the passion behind this game. It's easily worth the price of admission, especially now with the game completely overhauled and rebuilt in the Unity engine. (It was a Java game before)
Runs extremely smooth even on my 4 year old pre-built PC and offers a crap ton of recipes and depth. Combine that with the random world generation and the ability to play co-op or PvP and you have a great value here, even at full price.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I have been playing this game "off" and "on" since it was first introduced. It has come a long ways. I like the improvements very much. Graphic update really is incredible. I am more of a "relaxed" type player when playing survival games. I enjoyed this game from the start and they are really doing a great job improving it.
I would recommend this game for the "casual" type player. I have not played a "challenging" game so I can't comment on PVE or PVP yet.
Its such a Fantastic game, not perfect but nor is most products on steam.
If you enjoy Minecraft, but want more of a Realistic Approach this is your dream game.
9/10 -Para
The game got huge engine update and it finally runs very smooth on my rig. Its a nice combination of Minecraft mechanics and Skyrim like world and graphics, so if you like to build stuff, give it a try and you will sure enjoy it as much as me :3
This game is 11 years old. It was a great title for a long time. The dev chose to move the "back of house" operations to an entirely new game engine. The result is what this game is now. A virtual husk of its former glory. Sure the new engine looks pretty and makes water textures dance, and all kinds of possibilities have been opened with this engine. However, that glossy veneer QUICKLY fades to reveal the grim finish below, once you get into the game.
Whole portions of the game have been gutted. From clothing to interactive items, and even sections of the "creative mode" are now locked away behind some means of progression that isn't even given to the player. There are several tools in creative mode that are locked and say "they are not available right now". Change for the better is different from change for the sake of change. Right now, this game is leaning well towards for the sake of change rather than for substance. It is really too bad because the previous iterations we something to see in their prime.
I don't know what this is now, but it certainly isn't worth the asking price given the state of things. It is worth mentioning to anyone who is considering this title but curious about the community. The level of toxicity within the player base is somewhere between a hemlock smoothie and a sleepover at the basement of the hospital in Prypiat. Its simply not worth the effort to allow comments and try to have a dialog about the games shortcomings, the rabid fanboys will be all over the post and any hopes of actual discussion with forward progress will be snuffed out quickly.
5 - 6 years ago, I would have wholeheartedly said go for it and "grab this" you won't be disappointed. With where it has fallen to now, all I can say is you would have less disappointment grabbing a cholla cactus than this title.
New engine needs PROPER graphics optimisation - not just downscaling.
Maxes my GPU (6700XT) on Medium, looks awful on Low.
Played around with the many graphics options, but either looked blurry or didn't help.
Please optimise.
Give this one another chance - the new Rising World is genuinely so fun. Hats off to the devs for turning this one around so well.
I've played about 10 hours today. Slow grind but a great game by a pretty much solo programmer, and there is a creative mode as well. Upgrading to the Unreal 5 engine was something I've been waiting for since it was announced. I'm impressed with all of the visual upgrades, this game has come a long way, I'm glad that the project wasn't dropped. To me this has been like an adult minecraft at a great price.
The game could use some sort of timer mechanic on the crafting/cooking besides having to use my stopwatch or loading just enough fuel to get the job done without burning food or wasting fuel. Would be good to have mini tutorials for crafting benches when you unlock them instead of having to go online to figure out things like making paper. Could use maybe some more music in the future. I haven't unlocked the modern workbench yet so maybe there are things in there that I see are currently missing from the java version like more outfits etc. Making the sailboat by putting multiple kits together and seeing the boat change as each kit is added, awesome idea! making all the yarn was tedious, hoping I can eventually unlock something to spin it automatically or at least get more than 1:1. Loving this version so far, keep up the great work!
11 YEARS
I got this a while back when Minecraft was still fairly new. I thought he a MC clone that looks and feels the same with better graphics. I was wrong. This felt very empty. It may be more fun once a full release is done, but last I played it was still very early stages, I had high hopes but after 11 years, I do not feel it will fully come to life.
This game surprised me. The environment looks great! The developer(s?) put a lot of thought and care into how things work in the game -- so much attention to detail! The crafting stations and how you craft items is familiar, but also a bit different from a lot of other survival games. Different is good here -- the crafting is very immersive.
This is a really nice relaxing survival game so far. I'm only 7 hours into it, but so far, it's everything I've been waiting for in a survival-building-crafting game. Again, I'm only 7 hours into it, but I also like the current difficulty level of the survival aspect to it.
I really love it! It's definitely worth more than the sale price I got it for, and it's not even a finished product. I hope everyone who likes survival-building-crafting gives this a shot! It's so good!!! I've done some single player and co-op -- both super enjoyable, but I do prefer co-op.
You can tell they put a lot of love and care into their game. Huge like from me!
I don't understand how people are giving this such great reviews. It's a building/crafting game with really bad mechanics that make building miserable to deal with. If you misplace a building block you can't delete the piece to recover the materials. You can't even move the piece unless it's a piece of furniture or crafting station. I miss placed a block and I searched everywhere on the internet to figure out if there's an editor mode or a way to move it or any way other than using the stone ax to recover the resources or move the piece, but couldn't find anything. 1 block isn't a big deal, but I tried to use left click to drag an 8x8 section only to find out I didn't have the orientation perfectly matching the "grid" so I couldn't continue building on the slab I made without completely destroying and losing the resources in order for the snap feature to work properly again. Any other game has pieces snap together based on the piece's orientation, rather than have them snap to an invisible grid that you can't see until after you've made the mistake. I also got stuck in a cave a couple times requiring to switch between a torch and stone ax to try and make little ledges to climb back out instead of being able to hold a torch in one hand while using the ax with the other. The journal that is supposed to teach you how to play is incredibly basic and doesn't give you any tutorial on building or anything after the very raw first steps you can take. This can be fine, if the controls are intuitive and there isn't a bunch of weird bindings and invisible mechanics you can't see (like the grid).
Long story short, this has the same building/crafting as games like Ark or Conan, but executes it considerably worse in a way that doesn't make sense what so ever. Considering this game has been around a long time, these lessons should have been learned a long time ago and the game should be avoided. I'm genuinely curious how many of the reviews are just friends or family and how many were just paid to leave such great reviews when it's just a trash game.
It is fun. I like how peaceful it is.
Peaceful crafting, building and survival game.
This new version will take some getting used to; however, after exploring for just 30 minutes, I like it. You guys made a better atmosphere / environment, with new / different challenges. Nice work.
When this game first came out it was good, great even, but after many patches and updates the game has transformed into super good, super great even. Wow the graphics are quite nice, and the atmosphere is chill.
There are tweaks for just about anything you could want, how fast you get hungry, how fast food cooks, so if you want the smelting ore to go faster you can set it that way, if you want it slow so you can so watch that fantastic night sky and relax by the fire while you wait you can slow the smelting to a snails pace.
Walking along a beach I found some chickens, was going to turn them into nuggets but decided that day that the cow would be the one to consume, all that Moooo ing ! Well a couple days later where the chickens were and still are I see these cute little yellow baby chic's. I am not one to coo over cute things but that did it for me.
The community for this game seems nice and chill, questions get answered, the Dev listens well to the users.
Thanks for this super chill tailored to my liking experience.
This game has a forever home on my hard drive. It runs very well on my mid-range laptop and doesn't hog up a ton of space like a lot of newer games. The worlds are procedurally generated and the islands are HUGE. You can build boats and sail to other islands for different resources. You can fight barbarians and bandits. You can hunt animals for food and hides, but beware. Some of them will attack you on sight or in self defense. The night time sounds are incredible as well, and in arctic biomes you can watch the northern lights. You can farm your own crops and stockpile food for the winter months. (That's right, this game has seasons now!) You can build to your heart's content, explore deep cave systems, and even go to Hell if you tunnel deep enough. I probably sound like a fanboy, and maybe i am, but i can't speak highly enough of this game. I can't wait to see how this game continues to evolve!
Really cool game the mechanics the boats are fun
Realistic minecraft, just with more than cubes to craft with, crafting is immersive without crazy requirements to build. Im excited to see what comes of this game.
Crossing my fingers that Rising World won't be playable on macos after I do this update; I want this to be the one game at a time I tend to play for many years at a time until something unfortunate sends me looking for another game that scratches the same itch replace it--but RW already went through the growing pains and trials that other games didn't make it through or didn't stay playable through, so it might not have to end. It's been fun to explore but I like multiplayer pve.
This is the best game I have played and I have had many over the years. If you are a creative person or particular in what you want in a game it allows all that. You make your own story and world. You can add anything from a big list from animals to enemies. You do not have to accept just a few buildings like other games because you can build anything you like from a hut to a castle to a whole village, Ancient or Modern. There is Survival. Cold and hot seasons. Woods, deserts, snow. You can invite a friend into play. You can make it easy or hard. If you just want to build you can select Creative. You are not stuck with that as in game you can if bored with building you can just change it back to Survival again. It is what I would call the best do it yourself game ever. You can blueprint your building to put into another world or share with a friend. I team up with my daughter who is more into the combat than me with the building and we have had lots of fun.
I bought this game on day one over ten years ago. The devs have never given up on it, they just keep making it better and better. Thanks for your dedication. It has been a great journey.
