In Grow Home you play as BUD (Botanical Utility Droid), a robot on a mission to save his home planet by harvesting the seeds of a giant alien plant. On his quest BUD will discover a beautiful world of floating islands that are home to some rather strange plants and animals.
Grow the giant plant and use your unique climbing abilities to reach ever higher ground, but be careful…one wrong move and it’s a long way down!
Key Features
Climbing: Procedural animation allows you to move BUD's hands independently, creating a unique and unrestricted climbing experience.
Growing: Guide and ride the giant alien plant as you create your own pathways in the sky. Everything you grow can be climbed on. Use it as a bridge, a safety net, or simply as a tool for artistic expression.
Exploration: Explore every nook and cranny of the alien world as you hunt and collect crystals that can enhance BUD's abilities. It’s a physical playground and many of the alien plants have unusual properties that can help you on your quest.

Quite relaxing cute game with interesting main mechanic, good for short casual sessions. It takes a moment to get used to the controls though. It's fun to play for some time, but might get boring.
This game makes you wonder about limits. No matter what you need to reach the sky to fulfill your dreams. Good metaphor between life and the game.

literally the best game ever
This is such a fun game! The world is so colorful and fun to explore with a cute design to everything. It felt like I was transported into a different world climbing a giant plant. Climbing from the ground to thousands of meters/feet into the air really feels like you're high in the sky and with the teleporters it's a breeze switching between zones. You can save at any time and log back in the next day to travel up higher. There's lots of things to collect as you wonder around which unlock useful features for your robot character. I highly recommend this game. It's a short game, but at 50% off it's still well worth the money.
an awesome adventure platformer collect-a-thon that inspires wonder and calm like few others! i like that it's pretty short, otherwise the huge world would overwhelm me :-) can't wait to retry the sequel!
Moving around is just so fun. The game involves moving around, therefore the game is fun.
Good
Honestly, I thought this game was too boring to continue. And I reached this stage of boredom fairly quick. The world felt flat and empty. Maybe I am just not the target audience and it will be more appealing to kids. But honestly... I do think that there are more appealing, games available , also for kids. Cute robot tho.. Still a no for me.

first steam game ive ever played and i still love it
You are a cute little robot that has to climb plants to reach your mothership. Wonderful control scheme where you use the triggers to control each arm and hand grab separately, making this a proper climbing game. Pay attention because if you fall, you could fall all the way back to the ground! Checkpoints along the way alleviate some of the stress, but they are far enough apart to make to climbing feel consequential. 4 hours of fun, engrossing climbing mechanics.
Fun exploration adventure game that is full of charm and has a fantastic sense of scale. There is a sequel if you are left wanting more
Is good
Interesting and cute generative platformer.
I wonderful little adventure/exploration game. I got it and beat it on my PS4 a few years back and decided to buy it again with its sequel and it was just as enjoyable the second time around. I wouldn't call it a difficult game, since there's nothing really stopping you from your goals, but its pretty and enjoyable to slowly make your way off of a small island and climb into space on the star plant. Good art design and cute animals to find also help with its charm.
I'm hoping Grow Up can find a way to build off of this game's foundation as its very enjoyable, but would need to expand its ideas to prevent it from feeling like a copy/paste of Grow Home.
BUD
Massive 2015 vibes thanks to Jacksepticeye for putting me onto this game. The second one is better but this should still be played.
Pretty fun. Climbing all the way up looks overwhelming at first but its honestly pretty relaxing and satisfying when the plant grows as you go.
Game mentions its better played with a controller but I preferred it with KBM.
I've never played a game like this before and I'm actually surprised that it is not a short/quick play. I highly recommend this.

This is the ET game that we deserve! Finally a gorgeous 3D platformer that brings enough new wrinkles to the formula to set it apart and be worthy of being compared to the 90s golden era for this genre. BUD's design is possibly the cutest and clumsiest for any videogame robot I've ever seen what with his procedural animation making his individual parts move on their own accord similar to another Ubisoft property, Rayman. There are very few 3D platformers that are just about exploration and with this, you're trying to get from ground zero on a planet to space through the help of making tree branches grow higher into the atmosphere. The music, the low poly aesthetic, the atmosphere, all come together that fit with the game's philosophy of being a relaxing experience. But don't let the production values fool you, the game can be quite challenging because there's very little hand-holding or automaticity to the platforming (like there's no ledge grab). You can grow the tree branches in whichever direction and that manual freedom can make for tense involving platforming. Abilities get introduced throughout but just the simple joys of clumsy platforming with the GIRP-like controls that have to be mastered and even if you fall, it's still fun to freefall into the ocean to then get back all the way up with the use of teleporter checkpoints. There's no other game from 2015 that gave me this simultaneous atmosphere of relaxation and challenge, and I commend it for that.
Wholesome and relaxing.
A very cute and fun game! If you plan on 100%, do be warned that some of these achievements are VERY tedious
Grow Home doesn't grow old. It's a nice little game with lots of fun. It's clunky with its movement and climbing mechanics, but that's actually on purpose and introduces a little bit of a challenge.
Oh, bloody botany. A body is the best fertilizer. The planting a seedling into a living specimen is a calming practice. I love watching the plant root the creature into place.
A short game about making a plant grow into outerspace! The controls are super janky, but once you figure those out the game is pretty great. Sad that some achievements are only there to farm your time playing the game, but overall it's a fun game that I'd recommend to anyone of all ages
Short, simple and fun game about climbling and collecting various items. Perfect if you feel like playing a platform game that can be beaten in a couple of hours. The artstyle is charming and has aged pretty well. Its gameplay and mechanics are easy to undertand and don't suppose a big challenge.
cute, beatiful, good
Grow Home is Jack and the Beanstalk if Jack were a robot and the beanstalk had to be cultivated branch by branch to grow up into space.
You take the role of bud, a robot tasked with growing the star plant. To grow, it requires nutrients from space rocks that require you to steer the vines into. There's also a host of upgrades and items you can collect and use to make navigation easier as you scale ever higher.
The game plays rather well overall with simple climbing whilst the jumping and air based navigation are a bit more cumbersome but feel great once you get the hang of it. I personally really liked using leaves as springboards to navigate the plant.
The game is rather interesting as its low poly aesthetic hides quite the nice looking game with lots of little details. Overall the games mechanics and functionality are at the forefront of it. All in all it's a simple short title that is executed really well with a rather unique gameplay idea.
Grow Home is an absolute delight! From the moment I stepped into BUD’s shoes, I was enchanted by the vibrant and quirky world. The art style is charming, with a playful aesthetic that makes exploration feel like a joyous adventure.
The mechanics are simple yet satisfying, allowing you to climb, glide, and grow your way through the landscape. It’s incredibly rewarding to see your plant grow and connect the floating islands, creating a sense of accomplishment with each new discovery. The physics-based movement adds a layer of fun and sometimes unexpected challenges, which keeps the gameplay fresh.
The atmosphere is light-hearted and filled with humor, making it a perfect escape from more serious games. The soundtrack complements the visuals beautifully, enhancing the overall experience.
Overall, Grow Home is a breath of fresh air in the gaming world. It’s perfect for those looking for a relaxing yet engaging experience. I can’t recommend it enough—definitely a hidden gem worth exploring!

fun and simple
Amazing, amazing game. One of those games you played as a kid and replay as an adult, and it’s even better the second time.
i have a huge growner
jacking my beanstalk
İf you are looking for a bite sized game to play. This is it.
very fun and wholesome exploration game
MAN THIS GAME WAS SO FREAKIN CUTE! Great for kids but also super soothing and chill for an older crowd.
This is a really fun, simple game. I genuinely enjoyed completing all of the different challenges for this game. The pretty visuals, variety of challenges, and continued rewards always kept me coming back for more.
I can't quite remember why I bounced off this game. I think it was because the act of climbing up something is too risky, because you have the potential to fall ALL the way back down to the beginning (like in Chained Together) and that's too frustrating, especially if you someone who makes a lot of mistakes.
It's a great game for in between and I personally had a lot of fun. It's somewhat open world, as you have to move on at some point to explore more. You can't explore everything from the start, but that's okay. There's enough nonsense to get up to. The controls felt good and the game is a bit older, but I never had any major problems. The price is reasonable for me, but the game is repeatedly on sale.
My mother got me and my siblings this back in 2015 decided to try it again recently just as fun as I remember the hole game can be completed in an hour all collectables as well achievements need a lot more effort but still easy
