The Story

Gurumin stars Parin, a strong-willed girl sent to live with her grandfather in a small mining town. Parin soon discovers an invisible monster village hidden behind her home. She is quickly drawn into a fight between the village’s friendly monster residents and the Phantoms, evil monsters that want to destroy them. Learning of a weapon hidden underneath the village that she alone is fit to wield, Parin embarks on a quest to stop the Phantoms and make the world right.

its my favorite game of all 90 steam games i have i love it i used to play it on my psp and my 3ds and its was awsome i just wish there was a second game bro honestly
This game made me happy. What more is there to say?
Linux performance in my experience wasn't good. It ran well most of the time, but it crashed in some stages starting from Spinach Cave. I had to switch to Windows to finish this game. However, I'm willing to give this game a pass due to its age, and there were some Windows specific features in the game.
Compatibility aside, this game's really good. It's definitely a product of its age. It has everything from its time: awesome soundtrack which is the strongest suit of the game imo, charming characters, occasionally cheesy voice acting and dialogues, and janky control. It's a cute little game from its time, and it's definitely a must play for people that are into retro games.
Zerei e amei!
Play as Parin, one of the most badass kid game protagonists of the modern age. Armed with nothing but a drill sword, she'll rip and tear though the evil Phantoms and the level itself and stop their plans to rebuilt their world at the expense of the peaceful Monsters.
In all seriousness, it's a simple game: rip and tear through various levels with excellent feedback from enemies and environmental destruction. Plus, with upgradable equipment and being able to swap your drill's elemental types at a whim, not to mention a fun storyline and great, simple characters, it's just a blast to play.
However, after completing the game, my one critisism is the game's imprecise platforming. This is mainly an issue in the final levels, especially if trying to get everything in a level, but when the game needs you to platform precisely, it just feels bad.
Such an adorkable game.
Great music. Solid control. Cute story and sound effects.
Overall more on the easier side vs the harder side, near the end it gets a little crazy but nothing too serious.
Stable port from the PSP version. I'm glad I was able to play this. Just a good time.
Only cons I had with this game was maybe the camera at times (you can't lock on to enemies in a traditional way but the jump dive attack is very well done and sometimes very OP)
Healing is a tad limited at times with the exception of using items, but honestly this game overall doesn't need it as it's not too hard even on normal difficulty.
9/10 would recommend!
Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure
pros:
//fast game with modern day graphics with easy controls that moves from location A to B to C and so on
//good amount of action and special effects
cons:
//some difficult battles/boss battles
//some overpowered enemies
//some enemies have unfair attacks
//a lot of difficult platforming
//platforming is at master level regardless of difficulty settings
//some difficult puzzles
//upgrades require a lot of resources
//collecting resources are a grindfest
//repetitive with increasing difficulty
//some lack of directions/instructions
//awful camera angles and game locks camera controls often
//good game

gurumin!!
In the ludography of Falcom exists a small subset of games that I loosely assign a genre "Cute Falcom". In this genre, the story won't rattle you like Trails, and the action won't be as perfectly-honed as Ys. What you do get, though, is an incredibly charming, semi-experimental, (mostly) lighthearted, unpretentious, fun little romp. Other games in this genre I've played are the Zwei games, but for me Gurumin is the best of the bunch. It's got some interesting nuance to combat -- like letting you land crits if you attack on beat, to name just one -- and it focuses on level design that has you exploring and platforming in 3 dimensions. The music is incredible, the characters are goofy and cute, and there's even a secret very difficult superboss. All this in under 20 hours. I just love this game. All-time favorite.
one of the most charming and underrated games ever! always a fan of WindWaker-esque cell-shading and an adorable goggled protagonist. combat is also fun as hell on controller. 10 outta 10
One of favorite games in the PSP. So nostalgic seeing this game again
I like this game
IM SO HAPPY THEY PORTED THIS INTO THE PC GRAHHH
I USED TO PLAY THIS ON MY PSP AND I MISSED IT SO MUCH
EVERYONE SHOULD PLAY IT NOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!
tbh, it isn't a bad game. The idea is fun but it keeps glitching in my end and doesn't recognise the controller.
Sometimes I wish steam can have a neutral button, bc I didn't hate it but also not too sure if it's worth it,,
Yeah, it's an "old" game (2015 only being the Steam re-release) and that you notice immediately. If you are ready to accept this fact and take the time to get into the controls, you'll have a splendid time.
Good graphics, good gameplay and interesting story and characters will keep you attached to this world. That, or finding the final damn chest necessary for the damn S rank. >:(
Special shoutout to the music. If you ever enjoyed Trails music and want more, you'll find it here! This game is from the same company (Nihon Falcom) and the same composing team (Falcom Sound Team jdk) as the Trails and Ys series, so be this games' guest and treat your ears :)

got to drill people. funny game
Nice game, splendid
incredible video game
I remember playing Gurumin on my 3DS. I'm glad to see this old favorite has been translated so well to PC. Highly recommended for fans of old semi-open world adventure games.
It is a charming game and i really liked it, but there is stuff that is annoying, like being unable to skip cutscenes, also some of the chests and enemy placements are kind of unfair, making S Rank a true pain
I loved the game for a while now, but the framerate of this port hurts my eyes)))
ugh, this game is rough to get into...
✅ Short but sweet game
✅ Charming protag
✅ Rocking soundtrack
✅ Decent story
✅ Simple but fun gameplay
❌ Gameplay is internally locked at 30 FPS
❌ Enemies can easily fall off map and you lose valuable loot from them
❌ Unskippable cutscenes (makes it a pain to redo boss fight)
❌ Control/Camera can feel clunky (it's an ancient game)
❌ Various translation and spelling errors

you must speak to all characters in the game to progress a good hint. the game only slightly holds your hand, most one has to figure it out. was saying use the z button , which is A button if using a xbox controller.
the game is beautiful, suitable for ages 6-100+. the game feels like playing a 39.00 pound game. its well polished and worth owning and playing.
this is a good game! would recommend it. don't really have much to say about it - it's a fairly straight forward adventure, and it just is kinda fun to play. not a terrible amount of depth but it doesnt need it
i hate Cylinder though hate that dude so much
