Setting
Once every decade, elder dragons trek across the sea to travel to the land known as the New World in a migration referred to as the Elder Crossing.
To get to the bottom of this mysterious phenomenon, the Guild has formed the Research Commission, dispatching them in large fleets to the New World.
As the Commission sends its Fifth Fleet in pursuit of the colossal elder dragon, Zorah Magdaros, one hunter is about to embark on a journey grander than anything they could have ever imagined.

ECOSYSTEM
A World That Breathes LifeThere are various locations teeming with wildlife. Expeditions into these locales are bound to turn up interesting discoveries.
HUNTING
A Diverse Arsenal, and an Indispensable PartnerYour equipment will give you the power to need to carve out a place for yourself in the New World.
The Hunter's Arsenal
There are fourteen different weapons at the hunter's disposal, each with its own unique characteristics and attacks. Many hunters acquire proficiency in multiple types, while others prefer to attain mastery of one.

Scoutflies
Monster tracks, such as footprints and gashes, dot each locale. Your Scoutflies will remember the scent of a monster and guide you to other nearby tracks. And as you gather more tracks, the Scoutflies will give you even more information.

Slinger
The Slinger is an indispensable tool for a hunter, allowing you to arm yourself with stones and nuts that can be gathered from each locale.
From diversion tactics to creating shortcuts, the Slinger has a variety of uses, and allows you to hunt in new and interesting ways.

Specialized Tools
Specialized tools activate powerful effects for a limited amount of time, and up to two can be equipped at a time. Simple to use, they can be selected and activated just like any other item you take out on a hunt.

Palicoes
Palicoes are hunters' reliable comrades out in the field, specialized in a variety of offensive, defensive, and restorative support abilities.
The hunter's Palico joins the Fifth Fleet with pride, as much a bona fide member of the Commission as any other hunter.

As a seasoned monster hunter from the PS2 era, diving into Monster Hunter: World felt like reuniting with an old friend. The animations and combat mechanics are top-notch, and yes, even the in-game steak grilling song is 😙👌 *chef's kiss*. The game runs smoothly, a testament to its fine optimisation.
Teaming up with friends, many of whom are newcomers, has been a blast. One buddy, Tobay, even schooled me on game mechanics—talk about a role reversal! However, I must admit, the early-game (and some late-game) weapon designs feel a bit uninspired compared to the unique aesthetics of older titles. It's a minor gripe in an otherwise stellar game.
Now, if only Monster Hunter Wilds' PC launch was as good as World's. Get it together, Capcom!
runs better than wilds. looks better than wilds. plays better than wilds. feels better than wilds.
After playing Wilds, I jumped to World and realised this game is another dimension far much better.
Solid game. With it getting older, it's easier to find this on sale. It is well worth your time and money.
my situation:
-research on how to get attatck +4
-tempered teostra seems good
-level up to get mr 100
-try to kill teostra *dies*
-get better gear
-tries teostra again
-kills teostra, but no attack +4
-repeats over 300 times
-finally got attack +4
-repeat process
so far, 10/10 for suffering
I picked up this game a year ago, and have since put in 700+ hours alll the way through Iceborne. At the time I started, I had access to the full expansion as well as the content from every title update. As my first Monster Hunter game, I thought there was plenty of content to play with, and I very much enjoyed the "jungle safari hunt" vibe that I got. I appreciate what the game was willing to try out with its emphasis on its diversified vertically inclined environments. Understanding that clutch claw had mixed reception, I personally enjoyed the degree of control it afforded, with the additional part softening damage being looked at more as a bonus (glass half kind of full situation). Since clearing Fatty, I've since played up to endgame Sunbreak and circled back to Iceborne to get all achievements, seeing the differences in the games as a positive and diversified experience.
I can't run Wilds. I know other people who can't run Wilds. I wholeheartedly recommend that unless you're dead set on playing the "latest and greatest", and if you want something to do until you can afford a better computer, World is a completed product with plenty of content that will not disappoint. Unless you want Spider-man flavoured anime hack and slash. Then yeah Rise is cool too! Heck, play both!
writing this as a newcomer; ive heard of the hype, the cool and the stupendously fun things around it, which i finally understand the moment i feel how rewarding it is to hunt down every monsters with proper tactics and what great things and achievements you'll get the moment you complete quests or expeditions. plus, there are times where i feel like cheesing through the hunts, but this is quite the first time ive heard of "walls" or "teachers" in an action game; basically speed bumps to more or less knowledge-check the players (in the case of MonHun, it's in the form of Anjanath in LR and Nergigante in HR), which i really highly respect more than anything to be implemented in a game. to add more, there is no single progression stagnancy along the game aside from getting everything done in post-game content, and even then, it's fun to hop in to help out friends as a little incentive for more playtime. it's a game that never gets old because there's always new things to try out; mastering all weapons, collecting rare materials, trying to catch little critters, finding new camps, etc.
as my first MonHun experience, i feel really humbled yet satisfied comparing my own point of view to the hype and the experiences the veterans have shared across social media. looking forward to check out on future titles, and hopefully i get to try out Wilds once the expansion is out!
The world is creative, vast and colourful. The difficulty grows with the players growing skill level. The story is very engaging and easy to grasp. The characters though at times a little generic and flat still are likeable and have a destinct feel to them. The animation sequences especially the cooking cats are meowtastic. The costomization with the different monster materials are unique and creative. The weaons, even though I only played a few, yet, make the playstyle unique and require different skill sets of the player, which adds to the long-term fun of the game. All in all a very good game which is worth every dime you spent on it.
What a time to write this review right? With Wilds being out and all that...
After my 430 hrs in the game, especially given the sale that I bought the game on, there is no doubt about it that it is worth it. I've yet to fully complete everything too, despite being immensely thorough.
That being said however , if I were to rate the game on a scale of 1-10, it would be 7.5 , which is not bad and there is nothing wrong with that, but given the prestige of this franchise I frankly expected more.
I initially pivoted to this game after the controversial launch of Dragon's Dogma 2 (sound familiar?), which is the sequel of my favorite game of all time, thinking that it could fill the void (which it kinda did).
The most important part of a game for me is gameplay , especially combat , and World has very good combat.
Unfortunately not S tier for me, such as Dragon's Dogma, but close enough since the impact and weightiness is there along with the quality animations. Things that are lacking are more varied combos, something that Wilds seems to have improved upon.
Now, even being ever so slightly disappointed by the combat (again, a HUGE combat head here), I was very much in fact let down by the gameplay loop . See, this game prouds itself on a very satisfying gameplay loop in theory, which is "slay monsters and craft better gear". The REALITY OF THE SITUATION is that most of the gear is meaningless (!), and the gear progression is way too spotty until you enter post-main-game post-expansion-endgame (a mouthful right??), which is WAY TOO LATE in my opinion.
Most of the satisfaction that you feel will be purely because of you getting better at the game, which is fine, but there is basically extremely scarce rewards to reinforce this. And by the time that you do get new gear, they get immediately trivialized by the game's "Low Rank/High Rank/Master Rank" system where they basically recycle all of the enemies, pepper in some very few new ones and VASTLY increase their health pools.
That all contributes to basically feeling like you absolutely made no progress in being stronger whatsoever and it was a highly contested topic at that time as well. It just makes all the equipment management borderline pointless until you reach post-post-game.
I've heard they fixed that as well in Wilds, and added many amenities which is fine, but I still recommend World over Wilds strictly because World is a content complete game , a full and optimized experience (at least in comparison to Wilds, which is a shipwreck, since World had similar issues and can be rough on many systems at high settings to this day) and Wilds is simply not and probably will not be for a year or maybe even longer.
That is the true reason behind this rating. I still like the game because it is completely unique in it's format and it still somewhat clicked for me. It is special for that reason alone and worthy of experiencing, but keep in mind that your mileage may vary!
I enjoyed the thrill of the hunt, and hunting with friends is where the game truly shines. However, playing multiplayer can be sometimes inconvenient, as you have to wait for your friends to finish cut scenes before you can join them. It’s a great game if you enjoy grindy gameplay. Basically, you hunt monsters to craft better gear so you can take on even tougher monsters. When I finished all the achievements, I felt sad because I had become attached to the game. I knew deep down that I would treat it as a closed chapter as I moved on to a new one—playing Monster Hunter Wilds.
the game is good game i like it but it kindly easy until you got to master rank and finally it become challenging, but i still not understand why weapon in here become so ugly, i mean the combo is good but still so many cool weapon become ugly not like in MH2, MH2F, MH3, MH3U, MH3P, MH4, MHX and MHXX, just what the heck is happening?
Amazing game tbh, the monsters are epic, the world is gorgeous, and the hunting mechanics are a blast
But let’s talk about the multiplayer, because that’s where things are different
I bought this game to play with friends, but the multiplayer is a complete mess
Why even add it if it’s this broken??
Trying to connect with friends is like playing a bad game of hide and seek it takes forever, and when you finally get together, someone gets kicked out for no damn reason
And don’t even get me started on the matchmaking
It’s practically a joke. If you actually want it to work somewhat decently, you’ll need "mods"
Yep, they gave us a multiplayer feature and then left us to figure it out.
So yeah, thanks, Capcom <3
I didn’t expect to spend more time trying to get the game to work than actually hunting monsters
Capcom, next time just leave the multiplayer out if you're not going to bother making it work properly 🤗
I decided to give this game a try before buying Monster Hunter Wilds. I enjoy the crafting and resource gathering in the game. The combat is pretty fun too, with the right gear. Three things I don't like are 1) Wasted time walking around. Spend 30 mins finding a monster, engage it, and then it runs away over and over wasting more time finding it. Multiple missions I've ended right at the time limit and have often gone over just to have to do it all over again. 2) The 50 min time limit is just dumb combined with issue #1 and has made me want to rage quit many times. 3) When low on health and your Palico has threat, he runs over next to you when you need him to stay far away so you can drink a healing potion! Instead you get hit by the monster he dragged over to you.
Overall, though, I will still buy Monster hunter wilds because I see you get a mount, so hopefully that's going to address issues 1&2. Fingers crossed issue 3 will be gone too and I'll have a ton of fun!
Honestly one of my favourite games of all time. 10/10 would recommend. If you never played a Monster Hunter game before, it might feel a little clunky in the beginning. But once you get the hang of it, you'll have a hard time stopping. I spent far beyong 1k hours across several plattfoprms and don't regret a single second!
(+~500hrs on ps4)
Don't worry im not going to bruise the back of my throat with the hard drive its installed on like many others
Definitely the game before rise / 10
Pros :
Good amount of monsters are peak boss fight design
Endgame is pretty good after all the updates
Hammer is in the game
Cons :
Hand full of the worst fights ever made.
Base game AT monsters existing
Just hack in all the jewels, its not worth it.
One of the coolest fights in the game is only available for 2 weeks and then gone for 2 weeks for basically no reason post last patch that did things like making almost all event quests no longer rotate and always available. And is super insanely long outside of multiplayer, though it is possible solo with multiple hours of free time and no server disconnect. (updates have made its gear very skippable in progression but still)
Controversial? :
[spoiler]Alatreon[spoiler] did nothing wrong and is actually the best fight in the game
[spoiler]AT Velkhana[spoiler] is actually quite good, though is extremely brutal, i prefer it as the true final boss
Clutch claw was actually integrated into hammers moveset so i don't have a negative opinion on it but i can see how many weapons hate it
Monsters added in updates are anywhere on the scale from peak to overtuned
There is a very cool monster in base game that is heavily intended to have 3 friends to fight it properly, even solo with MR gear it still feels like ass because of its tornado mechanic and aggro if your weapon can't effectively deal with it, and then there is a harder version that is just bullshit and even more tornadoes. was probably a pretty interesting challenge with 3 friends to play with at the time of release
This was my intro into the Monster Hunter franchise and the first game that made me "get" it. It's a really fun experience, especially with friends. I highly recommend it (moreso over Wilds).
Fun gameplay loop. Lot's of unique enemies. Insect Glaive is great. Kinda annoying to play multiplayer together at first, but you get used to it.
Find dinosaurs and hit them a million times or shoot them a million times numbers go boom and dinosaurs go splat. Fun game
It is a great game, I have played a lot of MH games and this is a excelent game to start with. It is welcoming to old players as well as new players.
Lost 70 hours of gameplay and life after Icebourne was released. F#@% Capcom.
This game is special to me. Played it on my PS4 cause it came as a bundle and still remember how much I loved it and I adore this even more cause it doesn't crash like Wilds.
Seven years after the initial release, I'm still going back to this game. It's fun, it's stable, and there are hours upon hours of content to enjoy with the inclusion of Iceborne. Though this is not my first MonHun game (that goes to MonHun Tri for the Wii), it is undoubtedly my current favorite (sorry, Rise). Yes, it was buggy during the initial years and it only ever stabilized completely after Iceborne, but it was always fun. Even with the announcement and, at the time of writing this, the release of MonHun Wilds, I'm still grinding away at a new weapon with my best friend and helping him see the rest of the game, as he never played through the DLC.
It's not a perfect game. The weapon designs are lacking a bit, and sometimes the monster models glitch out from time to time, but the game is stable and I've never had an issue with multiplayer. Definitely recommend this game for newer players who are interested in the franchise, but cannot get MH Wilds. 100% pick this up especially if the bundle with the DLC is on sale. My lower-mid range PC can run this game at the highest graphics settings with no gameplay stuttering.
This is still the best Monster Hunter game even after 7 years. Currently It is also better than Wilds.
With Wilds dropping in just a few hours i thought it would be a good time to write a short review on one of my favourite games of all time. This was the game that, like many of us, got me into the series as a whole and what made me fall in love with it. I was 17 when i first started playing Monster Hunter: World with my younger brother (who introduced me to it) and am now going into my mid 20's and cannot express how much this series means to me, going back and forth between older generations and newer generations has been a blast and i'm so excited to see what the series has in store next.
If you haven't played any of the games yet, especially this one, i would highly recommend it. Grab a few friends and have a fun time and enjoy everything this game has to offer. You won't regret it :)
The Good, the Grind, and the Great Jagras
After what feels like centuries of grinding, I've finally unlocked the last achievement for Monster Hunter: World. This game is an RPG with so much personality, style, and detail that I can’t help but recommend it. However, there are some mechanics that could either draw you in or turn you away completely.
- Story multiplayer – Each monster has a unique cutscene that must be viewed before you can play with a friend. That means if you want to play through the story, you’ll need to do this weird dance where you enter the mission, watch the cutscene, then invite your friend while trying not to get annihilated by the new monster attacking you. it's still worth it if you enjoy playing with friends, but it is tedious.
- Fight time – If you’re new to these types of games, be prepared to spend anywhere from 10 to 30+ minutes fighting some of these monsters, depending on your skill level. In late game as an experience player, you can get them down to 5-10 minutes but overall, these monsters are meant to be lengthy fights where they will run to survive and use the environment to their advantage. It makes the fights feel real, but I can see this frustrating some players, especially since there is a timer that is always running and cannot be paused.
- The grind – There is so much customization in this game: interesting builds, mixing and matching armor and weapons. The more you play, the easier the game gets. It’s an RPG player's dream, but of course, you’ll need to work for it. Although there are good methods for farming, we all eventually will need to grind for that one material. If you’re just here for the story and a couple of optional fights, it’s really not that bad. But once you get to endgame, prepare yourself. One of the endgame locations, the Guiding Lands is literally nicknamed the Grinding Lands by the player base because it is that bad. If you want the absolute best gear, it will take a long time. I’ve beaten every monster in the game solo and still have not maxed out my main weapon.
[*]The weapon tree/forging and upgrade system – Every new player I see is confused and overwhelmed upon viewing this abomination of a UI. Basically, you forge weapons in one tree, then navigate to another UI, which looks the same, to upgrade them. I refuse to believe there isn’t a better way to do this. If you’ve played these games, it’s not an issue, but if your UI confuses the majority of new players every time, then there’s probably a better way. A minor issue, but we can do better.
At the end of the day, you either like this style of gameplay or you don’t—that’s it. But I think it deserves a chance at least. The excitement of seeing a new monster, somehow more powerful than the last, and defeating it to craft its unique gear is such a joy. Every fight feels rewarding, you’re always working towards something. Even after 200 hours, I discovered that you could climb the mountain in the ice map all the way to the top, where a rare celestial jellyfish can spawn for you to catch and display in your room. These small details accumulate to create special maps that are still interesting to explore years after release.
In short, does this game have issues and mechanics that some people won’t enjoy? Of course. But the detail, care, and passion put into this game are some of the best, and it deserves to be played. That feeling of overcoming an impossible obstacle is unmatched—from your first fight all the way to your last.
Monster Hunter: World is a very special game to me, it was my first experience with the Monster Hunter series and my introduction to the franchise. I first started playing back in 2018 on PS4 as part of the new 5th Generation of Hunters, completely new to the series.
At its core, this game isn’t special in the traditional sense—there’s no deep story, no memorable NPC interactions, and no standout characters. But for me, it became a second home, a game filled with countless memories and unforgettable experiences. It's easily one of the best games I’ve ever had the opportunity to play.
This game is exactly what its name suggests—you hunt monsters, with an emphasis on the word hunt. You study their behaviors, trap them, exploit their weaknesses, and adapt to their strengths in order to take them down. You use various weapons, tools, and strategies to hunt these massive, catastrophic creatures, and it’s an absolute blast, especially with friends.
I still remember being terrified of my first Anjanath, running for my life, screaming and here I an about to solo my first Fatalis(a super boss) though I’m pretty sure I’ll fail. This game has a unique, indescribable charm to it. It constantly pushes you to improve, giving you that butterflies-in-your-stomach feeling every time you hit a wall that seems impossible to overcome—until, suddenly, everything clicks.
Base Game & Iceborne Expansion
The game is split into two parts:
- Monster Hunter: World (Base Game) – This was my introduction to the series, and I already liked it.
- Iceborne (DLC Expansion) – This is where I fell in love with the game.
Iceborne forced me to "Git Gud"—Master Rank hunts are no joke, especially post-Iceborne content like Tempered Furious Rajang and Arch-Tempered Velkhana. No matter how much I improve, I still can’t beat them, but teaming up with random players and hacking away at these monsters is a ton of fun.
The game is easy to pick up but hard to master. The difficulty spikes can be brutal and abrupt, so take your time, be patient, and adapt you’re a hunter, and finding a way to take down the monster is part of the challenge.
This game isn’t for everyone—some might even hate it and never want to touch it again. But give it a shot—who knows? You might end up loving it just as much as I did.
I loved this game so much that I bought it a second time on Steam, along with the Iceborne DLC when it went on sale. The DLC is locked behind the main game, so you need to reach a certain point before accessing it, but it’s 100% worth it. It actually provides more content than the base game itself but only buy it after completing the base game.
❌ Cons & Performance Issues
This game [b]isn’t perfect, and there are some performance issues, but they can be improved:
- The game has too much unoptimized code that causes unnecessary performance drops. A simple fix is to install a mod called "Performance Booster and Plugin Extender" from NexusMods. This mod significantly improves performance and is easy to install.
> Note: Mods in this game do not disable achievements, so completionists can use them without worries.
- Turn off Volumetric Fog if you’re experiencing performance issues.
Final Thoughts
Monster Hunter: World is an awesome game. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but it’s a hell of a lot of fun. I’m planning to buy Monster Hunter: Wilds when it comes out, I played its open beta, and it was a blast.
I might update this review if I manage to beat Fatalis, get 100% achievements, and finally wrap up this game.
I didn't expect to gain withdrawals from a game like this that I can hunt monsters while looking so stylish. this game has shackles on me. I love how this game makes me crashout carting 20 times but its so worth it. 10/10 game. you should download so you can play it for 10+ hours the day you download it. dont expect to keep a job btw, i got fired from mine for calling out to play this game.
Play Mechanics 9/10
Story 8/10
Soundtrack 8/10
Graphics 10/10
Overall: 8/10 and highly recommended.
Deco farming sucks ass without mods but the game is a fun time with friends regardless. Shoutouts to the two real mfs who took down Fatalis with me.
Never played monster hunter before, feels really polished. Doesn't really tell you whats going on but everything makes sense. No "skills" per se, your character can do everything from the start, you just hit harder as you get better armor and weapons.
Cute style that is filled with a lot of passion, little things like pets in your room. Your follower having a little raft when you swim. (im not a weeb)
Give it a chance, it might not be your cup of tea at first, but when you actually know whats going on it becomes the best game you have ever played.
Upon my second play though (my first being on PS4), I've realized just how much this game rewards proper preparation, but on your first play though things can get pretty tough. This is especially true when you don't know resource upkeep. The combat is top notch and promotes observation when you are playing solo and in groups it can feel more like a hack and slash on easy fights. Iceborne is a more challenging experience where utility items are arguably less useful, and the armor skills are more important, but the fights are especially engaging regarding both at the end of the expansion.
Customizing your armor set for your or your weapon's playstyle will go a long way. SO much personality in this game, despite the actual plot being boring (unless you like ecology, and bland dialogue). The consensus is melee weapons are more fun than the ranged ones (bow being the most fun of the ranged out of the 3 for melee players imo, vs. 11 melee weapons with varying speed, damage, and size)
Highly recommended, never would've expected I'd put so much time in this game but here we are. If you're asking what it's about well it's about hunting monsters, if you dislike that then don't bother with this game. The loop of hunting and crafting better and cooler gear is almost intoxicating probably the only annoying thing about this game is the probability(the desire sensor is real). A good portion of people struggle with this game but if you've play a lot of 3rd person action games chances are the combat will come easy, even the purposefully difficult fights.
I've loved this game since day one. For all it's flaws: not being able to start quests as a group until cut-scenes have been viewed by all parties, slow story mission (Zora) and alike. It is a really intuitive, rewarding game. Some mechanics/interactions are djanky, but all games have a few things here and there.
Overall, recommend everyone gives this game a go. But note, you have to get a bit into it to truly get to the goooood bit. If you enjoy the first few missions, you're in for a great time.
By far my favorite entry, in my favorite video game series. I often wish I could experience the whole game all over again for the first time. Hopefully MH:Wilds will deliver as good or even better than World did.
Monster Hunter: World (2018) is the fourth main game but believe it or not the 22nd game entry in the series and the first to come to Windows/PC.
It's expansion Iceborne came out in 2020 with a whole set of new sh*t.
This game is incredibly fun and challenging, however it is a completionists worst nightmare as there's never-ending side quests and you never feel like your catching up.
If it wasn't for the active player base responding to my SOS flares I never would have beaten it. Huge shout out to everyone that helped me!
Iceborne is where I drew the line. It went from a fun challenge to down right Dark Souls difficulty. Too f*cking hard and not fun at all...
8/10
After almost 700 hours I finally 100%’d this game before Wilds comes out, let me tell you this is a banger. 10/10, would get carted again.
Just started and its been fun. This is my 10$ demo for Monster Hunter: Wilds
Countless hours of fun content. Even after hundreds of hours, me and my friends still see ourselves hopping back on to experience some of the fights again. This is a generational game that cradles you after a long stressful day.
ABSOLUTE CINEMA
Nice graphics. Story seems to be decent. Combat can get tricky at times. Recommend. Suggest getting during a sale, if only so some of the add-ons don't break your bank.
it pretty good. I've only played a lil but its really fun and i like it alot. Will probably play more
This is more like my thoughts on this game as a first-timer in MH franchise than a complete breakdown review, but in a good way. (Tl;dr available)
There's no words that can explain how much i love this game. This was my first MH game i played and im absolutely loving it to the point im quite obsessed (i never expected to be THAT obsessed). Gotta thank the friends of mine who gave me enough encouragement to give it a try. My only regret is that i never bothered to try it earlier even when this game had collab with my favorite franchises on its earlier days.
If you're more into a Singleplayer game than a game that's designed for Multiplayer like me, i can assure you can enjoy this game as much as i do (i do solo more than multi most of the time). Just put a little bit effort to understand the game loop and mechanic if you're a first-timer. In result, you'll stuck in this hell forever (or should i say, heaven?). Interesting weapon tree, armor, skill mechanics, cool monster fight and design, less stress when you're struggling with a certain boss (too much to write the reasons why but you'll get it once you try it yourself), everything's detailed even a little silly stuff like emotes and cats, and alot of stuff to explore post-story (you have to purchase the expansion as well for this but i swear it's worth to get especially it gets discounted quite often). What could you have asked more?
Sometimes, i wish i had the capability to erase all of the memory i had in this game so that i can experience this game for the first time again.
Tl;dr, I love this game and would recommend it.
(Also, stop the hate towards The Handler!!!!!! she's WIFE) <- very important note
lots of technical issues ! from sound cutting off after the menu, to black screens in between each section of the game., things worked fine a month of 2 ago , now its unplayable !
The game is good but the hell with the handler always taking credit of my hunt.
jogo bom, que botei fogo na casa quando ta matando o ratalos por que deixei o arroz no fogo, recomendo 10/10
Cant play multiplayer. Its rocket science to try and figure out how it works
It is absurd to charge real-life money for changing your character appearance in a single-player game.
shit game wouldnt recommend to anyone who is considering it... shit collaboration, shit weapon, shit gameplay... shit burger overall
Zero respect for your time. Unskippable cutscenes, multiple second long animations on every single action, ten second stun effects applied by the majority of all attacks and a "hunting" experience focused around hoping you bump into the small line of clues that will actually spawn the monster into the world. All this for the monster to decide to instantly run away to the opposite side of the map after no more than a minute of fighting. Not even the combat escapes from the slog - your weapon will become fully dull potentially dozens of times per fight, forcing everything to an abrupt halt while you sit in a corner smacking your sword until it works again every thirty seconds.
It's all the worst parts of Evolve and Dauntless mashed into a janky mess which explains very little and is rarely even correct in its own explanations - the claw attack meant to reposition a monster that you're climbing almost never does anything, as an example. And then it's all centered around a core gear upgrade mechanic that means very little, because all of your upgrades just make your numbers higher at a somewhat even pace with the natural increases in the enemies' numbers, as though it were some shitty half-baked MMO.
Genuinely the worst experience I've had with any game in its genre, ever. Catastrophically bad, utterly wasteful of every single second invested into it. Every single mission resulted in a net negative enjoyment value. Even when the fucking stars align and things start to get just a little engaging, you can ALWAYS be killed in one hit because attacks will sometimes apply the same instance of damage multiple times. It's pathetic.
I can't believe this is the game that i was so intimidated by the gameplay complexity at first, I almost gave up, but ended up addicted with it. It is a really fun game once you understand how it works, either by playing solo or with friends.
Great game as an entry for the Monster Hunter franchise.
