Not worth tbh
There seems to be a lot of content but not much of a game. It's just watching the painfully slow research so you can try something else to build.
after a while of playing your people just start dieing in massive waves
Meh, it's a slow and uninteresting take on exploring a knowledge tree.
good but i wish it had multiplayer
Honestly the best pc game i've ever played, even though I have barely played it I consider it to be my favourite because of how interactive it is. 10/10 game :)
Great Game, Having a blast so far :)
pretty fun, probably the first time i have ever played a game like this.
one caveat i would note: is at the start in the research tree, click on the one on the farthest left in the tutorial. i feel like researching the primitive tools icon should flash or pulse green or something, because it took me at least 5 mins or more to find it in the tree (i kept clicking the yellow highlighted ones/checking all their names thinking that was the one i needed). idk why clicking on the first icon on the left didn't occur to me sooner, it all feels so simple now! XD
oh the game is pretty fun all my silliness aside, i think its a fun little sim, you can watch the lil dudes build stuffs., and discovering what you can and cant do along the way is super fun!
oh also i love the optional Halloween seasonal event (i turned it on)
I played through the tutorial and everything seemed ok until I got up to around Electricity research and my population took a nose dive. Plenty of food, residents, I used the power to mate left and right as best I can but not many babies were being made anymore. Doesn't make any sense at all. My save file is basically junk and I do not understand what went wrong -- what's my incentive to try again???
Also -> I loath games that have hard unlocks for content. If people want to do a "campaign" mode for that experience great, but don't lock me out of content if I do not want to opt-into that experience. Many games fail b/c of this terrible design decision.
It's a good unique game. You are the god to tiny nuggets and get to make important decisions. Some of which include getting offerings, fights, and other things. It is heavy on computers though and all might not run it. Mine had some minor lag and freezing.

Its a good game well made
This game is alot of fun and possibilities are endless i hope you get this game and like it cause i loved it.
The story make no sense for this game. You are not even the true creator but instead of an AI that created by the narrator. Weird game, weird story, a disappointment. 6.3/10
thinking about, what it was first, and what it is now, you can only conclude a fine development. i am now in my 80 hours, in 3 trials. ealrly, midtime and now. You developed this game well, thanks for that. its really a builder like no other. i am still not at the end..so may i djust this review
Ok this game is so DAMN GOOD that a Big W for Universim like you will not regret buying this game but my Laptop is suck so sometimes when I play the game it will show a weird white box but it my Laptop problem not a game so yeah
I have never been so sure I have autism, than the pure sensory overload this game slams at you in the first 10 minutes. I'm not sure if I will be able to play this game, I had to quit my first attempt after placing the first structure.
I have absolutely nothing good to say about the user experience of this game, and would recommend avoiding the publisher, studio, and any individuals taking pride in the UX of this game, or contributed to it.
I have to add, this experience was so bad, it is currently causing a severe revulsion to all video games. attempting to play this game has utterly ruined my night, and I'm beginning to think it may take days before I can play a video game again.
Enjoyable game, become god
It's fun, a little micro-managy, but it's fun. Don't know what else you want me to say.
Very fun sim game, highly recommend
It`s a funny god-mode game. You can help them, you can kill them, you can try mess other civilizations, and you can build a city somehow like a city a builder and evolve their knowledge until they reach the modern technology.
This game has it all.
Godly Powers.
Cynical Narration.
Infrastructure Management.
Pollution.
Sin.
Pop Culture References.
It's like the child of the child of Black and White. Highly recommend.
If Spore, Simcity and Civilization had a threesome this would be the result. Very fun worth the price.
Awesome game! I wish the devs would continue to develop it more after implementing all the mods functionnality.
One of the best God games I've played, totally worth it now that's fully in 1.0. Really good story, the game play is easy and fun, addicting and relaxing. Recommend 100%
I had fun with this game, almost 180 hours in and its been fun every minute.
I miss the old Black and White games. A city manager where you expand your town by managing both the macro and micro all while taking on the absolute power of a god.
You do get a degree of that in Universim, but you end up feeling far less godly in the process.
Basically every action that you take in this game requires you to tap into your magic pool of godly goodness. Which means you sit around doing a lot of watching in the early stages of the game, helpless to even bring some supplies over for your villagers to build something faster as even that causes you to spend your godly powers.
I should have refunded it.
me likey it good mom bouat me it i reccamend fellow 5 year olds
Extremely mediocre city management, and god gameplay that makes me feel like the narrator is the real god and I'm just a middle manager tidying up the boring bits.
Glitchy, bad graphics. Not really a game you can play repeatedly. Kind of a one and done kind of game.
This game is so fun and interesting 100 percent recommend
Been following this game for a long time and now seeing it with everything pretty much complete it's such a fun game to get lost in.
Honestly feels like the developers abandoned the game a half mile before the goalpost. So many small QoL things required, as well as rebalancing.
The space age makes the game fall apart completely. Since there's no concept of unlimited resources to keep planets self sufficient, you're constantly in a state of playing whack-a-mole, jumping between your planets trying to keep their society from collapsing due to a lack of gas and other finite resources.
In spite of being supposed 1.0, shows BETA in several spots, as well as many other localization errors and incorrectly labeled things. Also having a hot pink loading screen every time I have to change planets quickly gets old.
Despite what steam says I have more then 200 hours in this game. I don"t know how this is considered 1.0.
After playing for the past 3 days and making it to the modern age the game still feels early alpha and honestly the developers should be embarrassed releasing with the lack of polish. They didn't even fix the loading screen and it still looks laggy and the animation skips and jumps like mad. If it was my first impression of the game I would be disappointed, as a longtime player i laugh and not in the "haha, funny" sort of way. I wonder why they just didn't scrap the idea rather then leave it broken.
There is still many glitches and annoying design choices that detract from the game. In the past few days playing again it still crashes to desktop and freezes. The world events just pull you out of game play no matter what you are doing with no warning, Its quite jarring and annoying when you are placing buildings.
This lack of polish and disregard for the player experience really seems like they rushed it just to get to the next project. No option to skip the pointless events like the barn exiles, How about a notification for the
world events like every other little thing in the game, or an option to skip. It's good to know some randos in a barn get to space in the stone age while I have to research. "Congratulations creator these nuggets beat the game while you've hardly started."
Nuggets still drink dirty water when clean water is just steps away. Loading the game from specific places results in a blurry screen. The game can't detect monitor settings when booting and it takes manually changing it from settings while the mouse is two inches away from where its being indicated on screen. (That single bug made me put off starting a new game for months and almost write the game off)
These are not the only problems I'm experiencing and i haven't even made it to space age and now i don't even know if I want to. If i had to wager a guess the developers got in over their heads with this game and after such a long dev time the profits began to diminish and they had to rush to the new game while just pushing this into 1.0 and calling it a day. This game is outstanding example why greedy companies and early access games don't mix.
I will not be buying any other games from Crytivo and will avoid the name in the future and I would suggest others do the same. If this is what they release out of early access I don't expect much from them in the future.
The Universim is a spectacular game and I recommend it to everybody. But I think it would be cool if you added other animals domesticate like cats and dogs that can help you civilization
It's definitely easy compared to other city builder sims, but that's what I enjoy about it. Sometimes I just want to play a nice chill game where I don't have to worry about putting too much thought into what I'm doing.
You think its one thing "Oh watch an ant farm and mess with it, shake it up a little watch your little civ grow", then it turns out its just another strategized civ builder that if you wont play perfectly or in a particular way youll go into a rapid death spiral there is no way back from without literal hours of real play time try to claw back everything and its extremely unfun to do so. Learn, repeat and maintain your patterns and strategies or pay by losing all the fun.
Very good God-Sim and Colony Sim. Cozy and endearing version of Black and White II.
love the game however it is very slow and lagggy on my older laptop i wish it worked a little better with the older devices
a chilled build with challenges that is easy to get into. I gave it ago and hours passed before I realised. Honestly worth the money.
This game is the epitome of "Good things come to those who wait." The devs are extraordinary at listening to their community and have built a game they are proud of and fostered people to love it too. With the most recent Update on September 13th 2024, features long awaited have finally came. I have seen this game go from very small to the giant masterpiece it is now. Take a god game and mix in a civ builder and this pops out. Before the 13th if you wanted to make it focus a bit more like a god game and let it run itself, you wouldn't have gotten very far to see a lot of what this game has to offer, but now you can. This game has a good story to it about making you feel like the nuggets are your children and raising a kid has a lot of oversight required. That's why you can't just let them do everything by themselves.
Very slow-paced. Mildly interesting, but only worth the time if all your laundry has been folded...
Even though it has a ton of content, it feels shallow and no interactions are engaging or juicy. Good voice acting, nice ideas, and a little bit of fun here and there. I hope they'll make The Universim 2 but with more focus on mechanics and immersion
Nice game, but unfortunately it's difficult to play on the Steam Deck, controller support is completely missing.
Universim Review: A Stellar Experience
Playtime: 44 hours
Universim is a fantastic city-builder that lets you develop a civilization from scratch while managing an entire planet. With its engaging progression system and vibrant, cartoonish graphics, the game offers a fresh and immersive experience. The balance between resource management, citizen happiness, and planetary conditions keeps the gameplay exciting and dynamic. Although there’s a bit of a learning curve and some minor bugs, the game’s charm and depth make it well worth the time. If you enjoy shaping worlds and guiding civilizations, Universim is a must-play.
It's just one of those games that scratch that itch that a game like spore left a long, long time ago. It may not have evolution, but it does have the power to shape every single world to your will, to feel like you are step-by-step colonising the universe around you..! And honestly, that's something I wanted to do for a very long time.
And, even better they're adding modding! Hell yeah!
I believed in this project to the very end, but it just disappoints...
I bought it when it came into early access (although I though I buy full game based on trailers and when it was announced) and the beginnings was cool. The concept was fine, the graphics very good, narrator IS STILL GREAT!
But it lacked was it showed in the first 2 minutes into the game. Fine I thought I will wait for them to finish it.
And here we are after YEARS of development:
- the progress is unchanged - you can't speed it up, you have to wait 8 minutes for each technology to research no matter how many nuggets you have, so a lot of waiting
- the mid to endgame it's just waiting with occasionally placing a new building
- the roads and aligning system is stupid, and you can't see effects of broken roads till modern age
- exile tribes brings nothing to the game, they just take your land - to remove them you have to spend ridiculous amount of Creators Points, you can't befriend them, they don't attack you (without maybe sending cataclysm now and then but bribing them prevents that)
- the aliens ARE TOO GOD DAMN LOUD!!! And fight with them is a joke - every 10 minutes they send few UFO. The final boss is cool concept, but just throw some CP's at them and you're fine. So just more waiting.
- Colonization of new planets... (I will skip discovering them, but it's also dumb). Loading a rocket takes AGES (more waiting) and the game forces to to pack some essentials on the first route, and it would be fine if either, they pack it up for you, or ADD A HOUSE BLUEPRINT SO THEY DON'T BUILD HOUSES BEFORE IMPORTANT BUILDINGS
After landing on the moon I gave up, it just isn't fun.
To be fair, the discovering faze of the game is really cool! It shows what your powers can do to help nuggets, but later on they just drop this feature.
Like for example, in the beginning you can move trees/stones to help build stuff (the game teaches you that), but later on when you have refined items FORGET THIS FEATURE they cannot be picked nor through producer nor from warehouse. You want something to build up faster? Just click "prioritize" and watch nuggets build something else... (did I mention they AI is stupid? no? So now I do)
And optimization is down in modern age if u have 400+ nuggets it just starts lagging
Big no no. I will now also avoid anything from them no matter how cool they make it look.
Thanks if you read it all, it's just a rant from me I know, but you deserve better game for this price :)
Awesome game! So much fun every time I play and the devs are constantly rolling out new content so it never gets stale.
I've given up on playing after 30 hours game time because the bugs really aren't just worth it. The most annoying is a bug when you use the space view where it will just be impossible to return to your planet, and the only recourse is to reopen the game. I've lost to much precious game time because of this and I've seen in forums that it's been there for a while for mac users. I can't believe the devs would leave such an obvious bug linger like this for months.
Fun game, be aware the game does not autosave very frequently. I do love building my city of Nuggets though
