Tried it with a DS4 controller and it's absolutely horrible. There's no real control over the plane and the button layout is senseless. Turning feels too slow and yet the acceleration is way too fast. There's also no control over how much to accelerate. And it just feels cheap.
Didn't get to play much. I set up my bindings to use two Virpil sticks and CH Products pedals. Everything seemed fine for the first go through the tutorial, but then for some reason it was reading something as putting in a constant right roll even though the axis I bound it to wasn't giving any input. Tried restarting the game and annoyingly the controls reverted to keyboard on restart. When I went to select the profile I had set up previously the game crashed. Refunding.
This is not Top Gun, this is Hot Shots with Charlie Sheen.
Very fast and different in a good way.
As a racing game, it's sweet, game has speed and replay value.
On top of that there are guns, missiles, cool music, funny obstacles.
Me like.
Used up all the ammo, 3 gates to go, couldn't get rid of the plane in front.
And then I took a shortcut. Skipped a gate for the win - legal cheating!
I was expecting harder game must be I'm gifted. FTW!
Flying low, fast and not crashing can be hard but fun.
Launching missiles and destroying others is satisfying.
Using nooice boost at the right time is Super Nooice!
Once I setup controls my way, I got better quickly. I'm taking about inverted pitch, only way I can play.
Nice to see this game is not just about chasing time like most racing games.
I liked also shooting, firing missiles and flying tricks.
There are many jobs to do and I still have far to go - level 4.
This game made me feel I was improving all the time. Playing with gamepad was ok but mouse felt really smooth.
If you take time you will see progress. I was shooting better, flying faster and winning more.
Lots of stats and rankings to show off. MP is also fun.
Sheep are my favourite - not cows :)
Can you please remove the cows, it's a bizarre addition and ruins the game.

Campaign is a good place to start and get better.
Time attack is nice for record chasing and rankings.
Grandprix is a journey,
Nice map selection, short and some long with silly obstacles.
Practice.
First impression, this is fun and challenging game.
Play campaign to improve your racing and combat skills - reminds me of Plane Crazy but for the modern times.
There are other game modes like racing for best times and grand prix. Planes and even hangar can be decorated with parts you collect during play.
Also multiplayer and flying animals blocking the view (like Mario Kart?) - I think this game will be a great time sink.
Advice, sometimes being the fastest is not same as being the smartest.
Game never finished. Valve should refund every penny when a developer abandon's an early release game like this. What garbage.
It's ok, kind tricky to fly though but if you're looking for a challenge here it is. I remember really enjoying the game Pilot Wings on N64 so that's why I picked up this one. I haven't had time to play it much yet but I'm not dissappointed with it that's for sure. I tried onlie as well and it was fun :-) So hey if the price is right get it.
Crazy racing / flying game. There are big selections of racing courses. Some players created tracks that are absolutely wacked. While playing, you get to unlock new planes, upgrade them and collect decorations.
Flying low on full speed isn't easy but I'm getting constantly better. Multiplayer gaming nights on Fridays are a really good place to play against good players. Overall it's fun time-beating racing.
Flying takes time to do well and low flying is even harder. Some player maps make it super crazy too. I like it when I make it. Practice is the king here.
Racing and improving times in Altitude0 is fun. This is racing game first, flying can be learned as you play. Really low flying for better times is the key. Probably easier said than done, you will be crashing a lot before you learn to fly your machine.
First, learn controls. Standard controls make cornering easier while advanced controls give you full control over cornering. I think I will stick with standard controls for now.
Solo mode has a license campaign with different jobs to complete and upgrade your planes with new parts. There are also many user tracks, mostly hard but fun. Some players who created these tracks must enjoy punishing others!
Still need to play more, fun game overall!

Very fun and challenging game, I'm still new to it and trying to improve, but enjoying every minute of it. There seems to be a steep learning curve if you want to play competitively, but if you are playing more casually it shouldn't take too long to handle the basics. I definitely recommend using a controller to play, as i found it mostly frustrating trying to play without one. The campaign has surprised me in a good way so far, the difficulty seems to vary quite a bit between each stage, some can be really easy while others will take many attempts to complete each task, but the stages are also short enough that you don't have to worry so much about making mistakes. The variety of planes and parts is really good, i'm constantly unlocking new things so it feels like i can personalize each of my planes to be unique. I can't forget to mention the amazing soundtrack as well, it just fits so perfectly. The developers care so much about thier game and they listen to feedback from players, I can only see a bright future ahead as this game becomes better and better!
"While I understand this is a casual type flying game with "Arcade" type controls, Most flight games, and now Altitude0, have the Pitch And Roll mapped to the mouse as this is IMHO the best tool for these controls. This only leaves the last 2 control sets necessary to fly a plane, Yaw and Throttle which are usually mapped to the keyboard. All other controls such as Air Brakes, Flaps, Landing Gear etc. are also mapped to the keyboard. The last update for A0:L&F provided this option in the "Arcade" control mode.
My problem is that the Yaw keys that I mapped to the Keyboard settings are not responding correctly. When I press the key that I mapped for Left Yaw, the plane only Rolls left and does not Yaw. So I have Pitch and Roll mapped to the mouse, and Yaw keys that Roll.
Call it whatever control mode you wish, but I need Yaw keys that actually Yaw no matter what control type mode I'm in."
5-17-2017 - UPDATE:
While the Developer is quick to respond to suggestions and has done some work on Key Mapping, he seems to be unable to map Yaw Keys correctly. This makes the game barely playable to me since the plane will not respond appropriately for me in tight maneuvering situations.
I cannot recommend buying this game until the Key Mapping is fixed.

Things that weren't fixed, though developer promised that.

1. Midair collisions. Bots often try to ram you. In 90% of cases it would be vertical collssion there someone hit you from above or below. You can't control your plane anymore and it flyes in unpredictable directions, but other person (who rammed you) won't be affected in any way - nor by physics or race/health-points penalty.
2. Respawn. It sometimes psition you in bad spots. I hate it the most when it respawn me right in front of mountain pass with no way to evade collision into it and then again respawn at the same spot.
3. Controls. It might be subject to some desync, but I had issues with controls become barely respondable. It could drive me mad how sometimes palne won't follow my commands and just fly on its own will/
Joystick sensitivity was even worse for me - I had to move stick all the way to a side so game recognized what I want to start turn. It might be lack of expierence in adjusting joystics on my side.
4. HUD. It's positioned somethere in the bottom of the screen and has Throttle, Speed indicators and Radar of tiny size. Problem is you I rarely look in there and I completely miss the speedometer in my expierence.
5. Matchmaking. Sometimes it puts low tier planes and high tier ones (with top modifications on them) in one race. Also, there's voting system to chose the next race, but it often offers bad choise - between 2 hard/unwanted tracks.
6. Night mode. In particalr flight lights. These now made to work as floodlights pointed backwards - stay behind few planes and vast bright spots of all colours all over your screen would blind you, so you have to rely on your luck not to hit anything in your way.
7. Tasks. Some have confusing descriptions.

1. Ingame purchases. Maybe the 1st reason you was thinking of buying this game is to farm and sell items on Steam market.
Well, there is a 2-4 items drop per week for completing races (in multyplayer and seldom - in solo). Developers have brought a cosmetics system which really fit into gameplay (unlike in many other games with skins). Here you have full body paintworks and artistic stickers as items. You could place up to 12 (I think) stickers depending on plane model you have.
Both of really good quality and variety. It is delightful to see (and show to others) your plane in slow motion before every round starts. At some point you might even rethink your initial plan and keep stickers on your plane instead of having these on Steam market.
2. Performance. Interfaces are nice and intuitive. Graphics are lightweight, so system requrements are acceptable even for 5-6 years old PCs.
3. Simple to learn. It isn't hardcore flight simulation. Here they have pickable buffs, instant respawning and some healthpoints system. You loose durability of your plane with each respawn or collision.
Really hard to master. You have to be ready to improve your skills and re-do same tracks numerous times. It actually could become disadvantage at some point.
4. Progression system. It encourage you to accomplish tasks to gain access to faster planes and improved additional units.
Tasks are vary from finish race in top-3 to hold below some average altitude throughout race or finish with damage taken below some % (percent).
Though second tier plane is heavier, slower and controls worse than 1st tier and 3rd tier is way faster and more controlable than previous two, developers promised to balance these tiers later.
You could actually improve your skill by following progression curve.
5. Closed lobbies. In theory there's Events feature taht allows to create a lobby for only invited people to join it. Haven't test that yet.
Variety. Weather conditions changing with every round. Vast range of races being rotated in multyplayer and available to be chosen on your liking in solo mode.
6. Player created tracks. There's ingame editor ther you could build, test and publish tracks. Many of player created tracks were approved and are ingame now.
Game replays. You could capture nice video from it or practice with ghost model of 'old' self.
7. Nice additional features. Ingame videorecorder and editor to create animated GIFs of your gameplay with some options like text over the video and photofilters. Global leader boards and leaderboards for every given race.

Game Is DEAD!
If you are into speed, crazy maps and you dont get frustrated too fast, i definetely recommend this game!
This isnt about skilltrees, leveling and stuff, this is about oldschool fingerskills and beating records, flying as low as you can, since this makes you faster. I play altitude0 since almost two years now and it is still one of my all time favourites.
10 / 10 would buy it again
Great developers. Had some minor issues with running on my machine but the team have at Gugila Games have come through for me. Game is running. Great game. Keep up the good work guys, looking forward to finished edition.
