FATE: The Cursed King

Its a great game, One of my favourites really but the random runtime errors that make you exit without saving are the worst.
I'd truly love for them to stop so I can play this game without fear.

great game i know it is but now when i launch it just launches into a blackscreen and wont load or do anything besides minimize my resolution to basicly zero

To be honest, I got this game for a nostalgia trip.
It's fun and simple game to play and pass the time.

Rose-colored glasses with this one. Played the original back in 2007ish and had an acceptable time. Come 2025, had too much wine and decided to try the sequel that everyone declared "the Fate-iest of Fate games."

Jesus, is this game rough for a 2011 release. Clunky UI, shallow character builds, hideous graphics, and point-and-click controls. In 2011. There's probably gameplay depth that I didn't experience that build upon the original 2005 game, but everything else would substandard for an early '00s game.

I'm pretty certain Fate 1 was only twenty bucks when it first came out, which makes Fate IV at eight bucks in 2025 laughably overpriced.

Anyone else remember trying this game out on WildTangent and loving it?

I still have my physical copy of this game somewhere and it plays the exact same as it did ten years ago.

Even when I save the game often it waits until I finish a level and then it crashes with a message that says Runtime Error! Program: ...86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FATE The Cursed King\Fate.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information. No one can help and I can get no refunds. I have a new gaming computer with Windows 11 and my son made sure that all the c++ were up to date and another message says Failed to create a texture with the D3DUSAGE_RENDERTARGET usage flag.set! I would have loved the game if it were not for the fact that I am unable to enjoy the game while worrying about losing my progress many times even when saving it more often.

FATE games are what started me in the rpg from childhood. CHILDHOOD GEMS

The game was fun for a few hrs. Then started getting runtime errors, multiple times a day. It would work for an hour, then crash, ALL progress lost. Unplayable.

An oldie, but a goodie. I loved this game as a kid, and I still love to play it every once in a while.

Such a simple, nostalgic game. Tired of the clutter of other ARPGs? This is the standard.

The soundtrack is inferior to the original, but in almost every other way this is the best FATE game. Not many bugs, endless gear customization, and legitimately difficult to obtain endgame items. Even with cheats, Flawless Legendary items are almost impossible to come by. You could play this for hundreds of hours and still have things to do.
