just no buy gates of hell, its not much better. but its MUCH better
Feels more like a mod than anything...the map sizes don't gel well with modern engagement ranges, ATGMs and autocannons shred anything lighter than a MBT. Speaking of, MBT fights are slugfests where you throw dozens of rounds at each other to seemingly no effect, so naturally the campaign has multiple forced DC tank levels where you fight like six dozen enemy vehicles while having to slowly resupply twelve rounds at a time. The 1st person DC animations are ugly and the balancing is weird, like mortars have near perfect accuracy (!) and there are many times where you might as well Call of Duty it out with the enemy because of how absurdly effective it is. The whole thing is sort of poorly thought out, which is a shame, because there are a couple really fun levels in the German and Russian campaigns.
German Campaign Preemptive strike bug the first part where the tank shot the t72 and still shooting at the destroyed tank and the unit still haven't given to the player which is stuck at that point all over again even after restarting it
A decent bit of euro-jank RTS.
It's much better than the previous Men Of War games, if only because they've refined the engine and gameplay so that it doesn't constantly crash, your people can actually path-find, and you get a decent fps. There are precious few modern warfare RTS games, so this fills a spot nicely. There's a lot of jank in the gameplay and UI but the overall experience is enough to elevate it.
Pros:
+ The campaign is ok, it has a nice exciting start and a climatic ending. The early missions are a bit terrible and boring, however.
+ The conquest mode is fun too, as it's a nice dynamic campaign that builds up over time.
+ The game has tactical pause and slo-mo. But it's only in campaign, you can't use it in conquest :(
Cons:
- Voice effects are terrible. (Plus it sounds like the person who did Wargame:EE!)
- The AI is pretty terrible. This goes for the individual unit AI (e.g. your Bradleys will happily waste ATGMs on MG technicals rather than just a few HE rounds) and they rarely throw grenades without microing. The enemy strategy AI is also pretty terrible as it will happily walk around whilst you snipe it from miles away, or sit there whilst your AT team repositions to shoot it etc. The attacking/defending AI, especially on conquest, just sends wave after wave of men at you without any real positioning or scouting etc.
- The hot bar is terrible, as it doesn't include the things I want and includes plenty of the things I don't. You can't even bind all of the keys, for instance.
- The core idea of having "squads" is bonkers, because you immediately break them apart and lose unit cohesion the instant you reposition someone. The only choice is to either a) have a great memory or b) waste unit hotkeys on individual squads.
- I can never find the person I want. Which one of these 50 little dudes is the medic, or has the mg, or has an AT weapon? Hard to do mid combat
- The DLC is expensive and the game consists of lootbox and unlockable nonsense.
- The achievements are boring and only for the main missions on every difficulty mode. There isn't even one for conquest.
To build a deck, follow these steps:
Plan and design your deck: Decide on the type of deck and create a plan.
Measure, dig footings, set posts, and install ledger: Prepare the foundation for your deck.
Build and install deck framing: Construct the framework for the deck.
Install the decking boards: Lay down the deck surface.
Build stairs and railings: Add stairs and safety railings as needed.
really enjoy the game, feels different to usual Rts only issues i have, no prep stage making defense set ups with engineers etc pointless most of time... can only call in a full army rather then seperate units, so its either have big armys that you need to wait for ap to callin in to make sure you win or small armies that cater to certain groups that are small and chance of losing. overall i love the game it just needs tweaks like a prep phase when defending on maps and etc and a pause feature if ive missed it having one?
It's a mid game and it's dated. Playing on higher difficulties just makes it so that the AI opponents spawn better units faster and spam the smaller units more. General gameplay is mid too, waiting 10 minutes for a tank is just too much
I like this game and the mods it has to offer. I wish that maybe we could find a way to improve the ai path finding. To me it seems like the AI tend to take the most practical route instead of the most safest. I am okay with a little micro management. It is given in an RTS game. But I don't wanna have to keep managing where the AI should go especially if they are in a dangerous situation. I would rather click once and not have to worry if they are going to run into the enemies line of fire. Great game overall. Please make another one like it haha.
the price was nice, the FPS aspect is very nice, replay value is more then what you pay for and the mods are awesome.
Call To Arms offers an incredible blend of real-time strategy and first-person action, making it truly unique in the genre. The ability to switch between commanding an army and directly controlling units on the battlefield is exciting and keeps the gameplay fresh. The mechanics are smooth, and the visuals add to the immersive experience. However, I’d love to see even more content in the game – additional missions, more diverse maps, and expanded skirmish options would make the experience even better. It's a game that offers so much potential, and I'm excited to see where it goes from here!
Overall, this is a good game with less issues of older games. Having grown up on Men of War 1, thru the Assault squad franchise, and both Call to Arms, I can say that this series is a lot better than it used to be. now, It could still be better graphics-wise, and more realistic fpv, but that's all I can honestly say. I'm used to the clunkiness of this series, so it feels nostalgic to me.
good game a lot of fun, my only slight issue is there is little to no instruction on how to interact with you units you basically have to figure most of it out yourself. Apart from that this game is a definite must buy
This is probably one of the best newer RTS game. My favorite thing is this hybrid between RTS and Third-Person. Such an amazing game, I recommend it!
This game is so good But physic is not too good anyway it fun to playalone and play with friend
It's fun to goof around with the various vehicles and weapons, and the destructible terrain is really cool, but when you get into a fight it is just unreasonably finicky and micro intensive to get any sort of tactical maneuver to be executed by your units.
It may have been good for it's time, but as a person who plays all types of genres; this game doesn't feel right anymore. I'm not telling you to buy it, nor am I telling you not to. I'm simply implying that when you purchase this game, there's a distinctive reason why there aren't many videos on YouTube, and the videos that do exist, it's quite clear they were from quite a long time ago. My point is, if you like hard oldish strategy games, think before purchasing.
So addicting, especially urban warfare. You can clear block by block with infantry or erase the buildings with artillery, your choice. This is a true sandbox.
The game has been a whole lot more fun than i was expecting the direct control of troops is awesome
Very good RTS game, mods are fun, game play is good and runs nicely
Fun, Many modes to enjoy; Reasonable price now.
very fun and amazing replayablitiy reminds me of a arma 3 mod but fully fledged out
Here i figured that my money was well spent and yet, it is a buggy mess in the worst of places. The AI in this game literally has no self preservation in mind. The breaking point was when a BMP was sitting and facing one direction the entire game and a lightly armored anti-tank vehicle came up in front of it, the vehicle rolled over a hill and had to adjust itself. Keep in mind the BMP was staring right at it the entire time.... The AT vehicle won the fight ultimately losing the game, because it was covering an important flank that was not seeing any activity.
Honestly, this way worse than the multiple times in conquest where a round was ultimately lost because an objective never spawned. R.I.P. the U.S. Marines who sacrifed thier lives for a battle that was impossible to win from the start.
I love killing the rebels as the germans, keeping it historical :3
Somewhat unique and set in sorta modern warfare what is hella rare, BUT clunky af.
However, it has reasonable price to try out and decide. It really worth of few nights to play to experience something new in RTS field.
really good game well put together and overall a good game at that
It is a fun Modern day game and very fun because it is RTS like Men of War and i like how it works and it's fun to play the game with mods as well even though there is very little of them it is still a way to have fun.
Its like Men of War. But with modern warriors and updated graphics. If you've been a fan since the RTS SHOWWII days, along with Men of War, you'll love this. Buy it. It's worth it.
Like Ravenfield, but more strategic and tactical based. Along with multiplayer. Love it.
1 download war fighter mod 'the best mod'
2 open call of arms
3 play conquest as Russia
4 look at all my fav tanks
5 get a good team
6 start game
7 play: Russia vs Germans
8 kill everyone with a mortar
9 send my man to capture the point
10 a random German kills all my man with a pistol
10/10 will kill my squad again
too many DLC's ad the game has 400 players online you will never get a pvp battle. players will just kick you from their lobbies
Definitely not GOH but so many similarities its pretty easy to play
I supported the game since its launch, I bought the Deluxe version, I enjoyed it for a short time until I got tired of the bugs.
I periodically re-entered and experienced the evolution of the game with all its additions...
A few years ago I played with the AH64 helicopter, I was making a mess, it was an overkill and it made the game much too easy.
After some time the roles were reversed, the helicopter is very easy to shoot down, if it is yours.
Today, after a few years of break, hopping that the game got fixed, I find that the strongest helicopter with all its firepower, missiles, etc... is useless in front of a tank that in a direct and constant firing barrage. The tank doesn't get damaged at all, not even a senile...
I don't recommend it, apart from the DLC the game remains as stupid, the experience leaves me with a bitter taste!
Shame, shame, shame!!!
Very good game, EXTREMELY storage heavy for what it is though
Just buy Assault Squad 2 and get a Cold War mod, unironically better experience than this soulless scrap
This game is so underrated wish the community was bigger would love to see a sequel
Honestly it's a pretty good game, especially for the cost of it! It's got a few issues, but said issues are mostly on my end, and they're skill issues. When playing as the GRM conquest, it's damn near impossible to kill the Abrams tanks, but then again they're damn near impossible to kill in real life.
All around I love the game.
amazing game and detail. the mods are amazing as well. highly recommend no other game like this
Listen to Surfin' Bird by the trashmen with this and your gonna get a true war experience, did that and i ended up blowing a technical into pieces with an APC.
Good Addition to the Men Of War Style Rts and Modern Take with added Ui and Mechanics
Direct control is such a nice feature.
Amazinig game. 10/10
5000x more polished than men of war assault squad 2. get your shit together modders
you get to simulate hezbollah beating israel
Not a huge fan, GOH is 100x better than this abandonware.
Amazing RTS game! Not many that are based in the modern era. This is a good one!
men of war assault squad 2 but worse
If I could refund, I would. Only because they abandoned this game so fast after it launched. The mods and game itself could of been as great as MoW:AS2, but instead they abandoned it and went back to a WW2 style game, instead of giving us the content Call to Arms deserved.
Its' overall a great game to play with freinds and the mechanics are amazing. It sucks that the game died so fast and on top of that the devs abandon the game to make more money by remaking Men Of War Assault Squad 2 bassically with Gates of hell...
Great game. Setting it to realistic damage makes it really challenging and makes it hard for you to just launch a frontal assault with your infantry
I have played this game for 35min and If I am honest it simply felt dull and unfinished. The game physics have a lot to wish for. The AI is just dumb as a pack of nails. The movement of troops and military vehicles lack physics and realism. I feel like I have been thrown into middle of a game without proper story campaign and all i need to do is click my mouse, select troops and shoot AI that behave dumb and lack any awareness to the enemy position. If you are coming from games like Company of Heroes than I would suggest not to bother with this game. To summarise, it is not what i expected and it simply feels like early beta. Refund pending.
