Genuinely, buy this.
This is one of the best games I have played so far. The graphics are not realistic at all, as you can see in the trailers. But that makes the game even better in my opinion, because.... It is set in hell. That makes no sense. And you have superpowers. Unrealistic as hell. And that's the fun part. It doesn't have to look good. The humor and gameplay are great in this game. It is so different to any other game I have played. The best Saints Row games are SR3, SR4, and this, in my opinion. The main story is rather short, but there are tons of things you can do besides the story. So buy it, definitely worth the money.
Back in the day when Saints Row was fun franchise with interesting characters.
Even a game which could be DLC is still better than the latest game.
Make you think how much time has passed and how they massacred the franchise.

This time, you’re in Hell, causing havoc as the one and only Johnny Gat. And let me tell you, I’m in love with being overpowered and killing mfs in Hell. You get to fly, for crying out loud! The activities, the abilities, EVERYTHING... just perfect. It’s a ton of fun, especially if you’re into being ridiculously powerful and blowing stuff up. If you just need an excuse to wreak havoc, this game is a must.
Needs remastering or update graphics, but still saints row crazy fun.

Re-cycles the world from Saints Row 3 with a new hell-scape skin. If you like the humor and gameplay of Saints Row 3, this is basically an expansion for that game, but don't go in expecting a wholly original game.
This Saints Row game feels like it was made to ease players into Saints Row 4. Yes, it’s fun, but it completely loses the spirit of Saints Row 3. It’s good, but the missions are repetitive, the open world is boring, and the character progression options are terrible. No matter which path you choose, you don’t really feel like developing your character. Also, they’ve made a game with special powers, but besides the wings, the powers are pretty much useless. If you can overlook all this, the game is a fun, short, and casual experience. The story isn’t very impressive, but it’s still playable.

i've played and beaten this before but this may not be the greatest saints row entry in the original series but its still a great on i mean the whole putting a hole in satans head bit is great and you get to play as the fan fav johnny so all in all its a nice lil addition to the franchise even though it originally was a dlc for Saints row 4 but then later on became a standalone game which really got it off the ground

The controls are fun, the collectable shinies feed your inner loot goblin.
Last time I've played, coop never crashed and players are only required to spend 3h in game, picking their noses.
As SR 3-4 games go, I imagine you would crash and disconnect doing the story and activities, but I didn't, so there's that.
If you choose which of the SR 3-4-5 games to buy first, buy this. Trust me. It doesn't explain anything and it's still fun, and you can explore other games as prequels, constantly being like: "ooh, so that's who they are and what they did".

-you want to just fly around hell collecting hundreds of collectibles (unironically *so* relaxing, they weren't kidding, it really do be angelic flight)
-you liked the SRIV powers
-you want to shoot demons and laugh at them
-you're trying to introduce a friend to saints row' humor with a short, low stakes game that looks cool as fuck (imho unironically looks better than SRIV, and the visibility around hell is way better than around the IV simulation)
-technically, since it's short, you can experiment with all the ways you can trigger the satan fight. i can trigger it solely by flying around to get soul clusters, disabling the spires as soon as they show up, doing only the meeting & rescue allies quests, and collecting the 7 deadly sin weapons. the game isn't that locked down and it's fairly funny
bad game if :
-you want a saints row game with actually varied gameplay (the minigames are fun & so are the weapons, but... there isn't that many of them ! this is more mid compared to IV or III, get these instead. it's VERY obvious this used to be a DLC)
-you want a saints row game that'll actually require you to play a lot to get somewhere (in SRIV you had 50 levels, in this one you have only 20, so you get full power VERY easily)
-you want a long story
-you enjoyed the car/character customisation, and car theft aspects of the previous saints row games (vehicles are basically obsolete in this one, save for the rambulance, comet and monster truck minigames)
tldr it's good as an introduction to the saints row series, and technically it was great for me because I played the saints row games in reverse order and so started with this one, but if you're finishing the series with that one you'll blink and go, "...that's it ?"

Played this game almost a decade ago. The game aged well for me. It is fun and casually relaxing. The game is short but for me it was a good bite sized game (5 hours below main story). You get to play as Kinzie or Johnny Gat.
The game also makes you feel hilariously powerful like in saints row 4. This game has a fun flying mechanic but the world where you play in is so dark which is not what I was used to playing saints row or maybe the dark colors put together were not right, anyways the game was great.

On default proton, I loaded up the game and observed the malfunction of the sound INDEED sounded like hell. That being said, I added "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" (without the quotes) to the launch arguments and everything loaded as intended. Game performs well with little to no problems.

A fun short addition to the Saints Row Universe, Its just as ridiculous as the other games and filled with activities.
The game takes a funny turn by taking place in hell and making you play as either Johnny Gat or Kinzie on a quest to Rescue your Player Character (the president of the united states) from the previous game. This is more of an add on to the previous game than it is its own full fledge stand alone Saints Row Game. However, don't take it as me saying its just a few missions on the same map because they made sure to make a new city for this add on that acts as a smaller sandbox than the typical scope of the other entries. Because of this, there is fewer activities and fewer things to collect but to me I feel like this is more of a positive because it encapsulates the experience in a nice small environment that does not take too much of your time to complete or 100%. The new activities were fun and the flying ones were by far my favorite, most of them though are returning mini-games we are all familiar with but with different names. The new Powers you get were also very fun to use as well as some of the new weapons they give you. The dialogue is still pretty funny and the story is just as ridiculous as the previous game. The first section of the game had a whole spoof on Disney movies which I thought was a funny bit
If you're a fan of open world games or just like the Saints Row franchise and just wanted a little extra fun on the side, I would recommend you play this. its a short experience that does not overstay its welcome and you will enjoy it for the time that it last.

It's anything BUT a Saints Row game. It shouldn't even be called a game but a mislabeled DLC. I don't even know who the hell would recommend this to anyone after playing The Third and IV.
The writing is extreme doodoo and the game even admits that they ran out of ideas in the middle of the story with a "quirky" cutscene (HAHA GAMEDEVS DIRECTLY ADMITTING THEIR GAME IS SHIT SO FUNNY RIGHT???) then they force you to play minigames for like an hour until you can proceed with the story.
It doesn't even try to make the littlest attempts to make fun of the cliches it tries to use either, there is no subtlety in them. The punchlines are very blunt, obvious and self aware or just happen instantly after a joke is told that it just defeats the point of a joke in the first place.
The missions themselves aren't anything special and are usually just cutscenes or minigames you have to play (which aren't unique as they are literally the same as other activities you'd find in freeroam)
Other than that there are ~1000 individual pickups all over the map if you intend to 100% the god damn game. Yes, ~1000 pickups. Ubisoft bows it's head in shame somewhere by being outclassed like this.
There aren't even any clothing stores, radio stations, mod shops for vehicles nor anything a player can use to express themselves unlike in every single Saints Row game that exists. And I know that we are in Hell and that we essentially play as NPC but we could at least have SOME clothing variations to choose from or at least a hat to wear. Even Borderlands 1 had options to recolor parts of our character in 2008 and then gave us some hats in 2019 remaster.
Do not EVER buy this game individually, if you want to try this slop then at least buy it from a bundle like the Saints Row Ultimate Franchise Pack. You'd be getting 3 games that are actually worth your time compared to whatever this "game" is trying to be. Yes, I'm very disappointed with this experience because it feels like a typical game released after 2019 but looking at the storepage it says 2015.. sigh.
