Following on from last year’s release of the free Santa’s Sweatshop content, our daring escapee elf unfortunately lost control of their sleigh mid-flight and was forced to make an emergency landing – right in the middle of the grounds of the Jingle Cells prison!
Stuck doing hard time again, if you want to get home in time for the holidays you’ll need to sneak around the brand new wintery themed prison sourcing the unique items and crafting supplies that you’ll need to repair the sleigh and make another break for it!
The Jingle Cells update features:

About the Game
You’ve landed yourself in prison again, and your only chance is to engineer an escape by any means necessary. How you do it is up to you! Why not cause a prison riot? Or dig a tunnel right under the walls of the prison? Or even steal a guard uniform to blend in with your captors?The Escapists is a unique prison sandbox experience with lots of items to craft and combine in your daring quest for freedom. Life in prison will keep you on your toes with the strict rules that you’ll have to break. The guards are out to stop any escape attempts, so you’ll have to avoid suspicious behaviour by attending roll calls, working a prison job and hiding your stolen craftables.
Escaping is what you do best, and you’ll have to prove your skills in a variety of challenging prisons from across the world.

DanTDM goated but I'm poop
Very entertaining when you aren't forced to wait an entire day for items to reset (which unfortunately does happen quite a lot on maps with smaller amount of prisoners). DLCs are cool but somehow feel more linear because of special escapes (and you don't even get a cutscene unlike the console version!)

I LOVE THIS GAME
I dont understand the game
Loved the game as a kid and refused to use the load save system because I thought it was cheating so I quit on San Pancho after dying to the mines twice. Fast forward about 8 years and I'm revisiting the game to finally beat that prison and after successfully doing so my progress for whatever reason doesn't save and not only does the game not recognize me beating San Pancho but my save file was deleted. I even have a screenshot of my victory screen lmao. 3 hours down the drain due to some weird bug. Maybe I'll have the strength to replay the prison eventually but until then this pretty great game was cut short for me by a bug.

If you love games with a nostalgic retro aesthetic and enjoy the idea of meticulously planning out and executing prison breaks, then this game is for you! The Escapists is a charming retro-inspired prison-break “simulator,” where the goal is to break out of prison by whatever means you see fit, using the limited supplies and contraband available to you.
What is great about The Escapists, though, is that despite the limited resources available to you, there are always multiple ways to escape. This adds to the replay value, whether it's finding new ways to escape that you missed or challenging yourself to escape in a certain amount of time. While planning your escape, you'll be levelling up your character at the gym and library, carrying out favours for inmates, and obtaining/crafting the items needed to aid you—all while avoiding arousing suspicion from the guards, who are more than willing to put you in the infirmary and confiscate your stuff if you get caught.
As you become a master escapist, you end up being thrown into ever more difficult prisons throughout the game, from POW camps with electric fences to maximum-security prisons with every inch covered by security cameras.
Overall, it’s a really fun puzzle game with a rewarding gameplay loop that has kept me entertained for hours. I highly recommend it if this is your kind of jam.

I used to play this game when i was 10 on my Xbox One and I bought it again on Steam recently to relive some nostalgia. I have to say the PC version is much more difficult which I'm a big fan of. I do think there are some janky features of the game such as Prisoner Opinion which has little to no bearing on the actual gameplay experience. Also training SPEED in this game is practically useless as the player is much faster than all other NPCs even on 10/100 speed. The Escapists isn't very friendly to new players as any mistake is harshly punished and isn't explained to the player what they did wrong which the Console Edition overcorrected on.
Overall yeah this is a very good strategy game

I loved this game. The exploration, crafting, variety and strategy was a great time. This is one of my personal favorites.

This game is very nostalgic and still addicting, however it is actually really difficult which is fun in certain aspects if you like a challenge. This game really makes you think about everything you need to do and in what in order so that you aren't caught.
