FAST, CHALLENGING ONLINE CO-OP
Take control of a cyberdragon and annihilate swarms of rocket propelled chainsaws either online or via LAN in this high speed, high skill 8 player co-op twinstick shooter.DESIGN YOUR OWN WEAPONS
Harvest components from the smoking wreckage of your enemies and construct a vast arsenal of crazy weaponry. Gatling laser guided rocket launchers, bear teleporters and singularity cannons are just the beginning. All this customization isn’t just for show, either. Different weapon and character builds allow for a huge range of effective playstyles.TACTICAL DEPTH
The space skeleton armada is cunning and merciless – flanking, sniping, cloaking and teleporting are just a few of the tricks the AI is capable of. However, if you learn their tactics you can use your enemies weapons against them. All attacks have full friendly fire, and exceptional players can annihilate entire fleets by tricking them into shooting each other.MASSIVE BOSSES
After obliterating enough regular enemies, you’ll have to face down screen filling deathmachines like the Killdozer, Bullet Devil and Terror Fortress Omega.PRESS QUOTES
"what’s interesting about the game: the variety of its enemies, the manner in which you can manipulate its AI, and that it has singleplayer as well as 8-player coop."- Graham Smith, Rock Paper Shotgun
"A beautiful shoot em up with super fast paced and challenging combat."
- Nick Puleo, Co-Optimus
"Want to be a teleporting, mine dropping, laser blade wielding cyberdragon? Or evasive and armed with railgun and chaingun? Or do you want to mind control enemy ships and use your laser like a tractor beam? All those playstyles are equally viable."
- Christian Valentin, Indie Game Enthusiast
"XenoRaptor is fantastic fun, it’s a well crafted top down space shooter, with an infusion of Dead Rising style, crazy weapon building. Highly Recommended."
- Alpha-Beta-Gamer
"There's something delightfully absurd about a giant circular saw flying through space"
- LowEndGamers
" Extremely responsive controls allow for precision accuracy, harrowing maneuvers, and a devastating outlay of firepower."

online co-op does not work
AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH super difficult but insanely fun when you get in a flow, i just wish progression was clearer as sometimes i dont know if im even fighting for a reward
Only thing missing here is a slot to eat quarters.
Another twin stick shooter with average graphics where you destroy incoming waves of saw-like ships. Campaign mode is simple - complete planet and move on to the next one. Gameplay is not bad but it lacks more variety like different weapons and such so it become rather boring after a while. No structure in gameplay like different waves or formation of enemies, everyone is just flying randomly and rush towards your ship when close. Controls are good and responsive. Recommend if you're really craving for top down shooter otherwise just skip on this title.
Let's talk about this space dragon fighting chainsaws on rockets – sounds like a wild ride, doesn't it? Well, buckle up, because the reality falls a bit short of expectations.
Sure, the movement is snappy and responsive, but it lacks that true sense of soaring through the cosmos. It's more reminiscent of those old-school 8-bit shooters from back in the day.
Now, about those upgrades – sounds promising, right? Wrong. They're few and far between, and honestly, they don't make much of a difference. Every level feels like a rinse and repeat: waves of enemies and a boss battle, rinse and repeat.
And let's not even get started on the graphics and UI – basic and dated, to say the least. Plus, don't be fooled by the flashy trailer – it'll take you ages to reach that level of upgrades.
Overall? Yeah, it's not great.
Great? No.
Finished? Barely, at best.
Polished? No way.
But fun? Yes.
XenoRaptor routinely goes on deep sale, and for its low price you get a crazy-fast shooter with basic but solid arcade action and a bunch of parameterized weapons to unlock and play around with, and that's pretty much it. It's not the kind of game I'm thinking about when not playing, and there's definitely some jank among its intended space goofiness, but it's quick, reliable, bite-sized fun when I do happen to play, and that makes it well worth that $2.50.
A very fast-paced roguelike twin-stick. Refreshing to play a game with such a high pace although you can be killed quickly if you're not careful. You also better hope you have spider fingers as each shoulder & bumper button has an action assigned to it whilst you are also moving with the left stick & aiming with the right which can be quite overwhelming. Feels like there is a good focus on meta-progression as there is a lot of unlockables for your ship that you can switch to between runs with lots of different combos to try out. The number of stages are lacking but the amount of unlocks to work towards makes them worth repeating.
Hectic but fun, faster paced than usual roguelike shooter. Very fun to play but lots of buttons to be hitting at the same time to play effectively. Might be a tough recommend at full price but definitely worth picking up on sale.
Runs nearly flawlessly on the Steam Deck, 60FPS and all.
The classic Asteroids reimagined as a twin-stick shooter bullethell, you play as a customizable cyberdragon in space fighting against UFO buzzsaws, sword-chainsaw ships, and a variety of other enemies with both sci-fi and other sorts of more exotic weapons; beating bosses randomly gets you new weapons, upgrades to existing, as well as upgrades to your own skills and sometimes new skills to choose from. You will need to revisit earlier bosses if you get stuck on later levels to get upgrades to compensate for your lack of skill (or just to practice more); you don't lose upgrades if you die, just have to start the map over but you keep whatever you earned.
You fly a fast tactical aircraft... armed with your choice
very interesting and challenging game !
A space dragon fighting agains chainsaws on rockets sound really cool but the execution is as bland as it gets.
Movement is indeed fast and responsive but doesn't feel like anything flying through space. It's more like these old school 8-bit shooters from years ago.
You collect random upgrades by killing bosses and these stay on your account forever. That sounds like a good thing, but that means meaningful upgrades are very far between and none of them really gives the player that much of an advantage either. All levels are basically the same: a few waves of suicidal enemies and a boss fight at the end, each level with increasing difficulty.
Graphics, sound, music, everything is simple and it already looks a bit dated. Although the sound effects do have a good oomph to them.
The UI is also very basic and has its issues. After switching from 4k to 1080p, the game can't be switched back to a higher resolution because of how it shows all options: an unscrollable block of text that doesn't fit on screen anymore. The game also crashes once in a while and support seems to be long gone.
And don't get fooled by the trailer on the store page. It requires hours on hours to get close to that level of upgrades.
Quite bad.
This game is fun enough if it would work, but every 5 to 10 minutes it freezes and then crashes. Its basically unplayable in this state.
Don't buy this as it appears game is not finished at all yet out of early access. It took me 3-4 hours to accomplish all missions and after that nothing at all happened, though it was fun while it lasted. Most weapons/gear is not available. Better wait till it's properly done
you can buy this and apparently run it for mac, but a friend of mine discord screenshared with me (owns a mac) and just by looks its very broken main menu, graphics, frame issues and gameplay wise........ not sure if its just on thier end or not.
although, if you want to play for now i recommend running it on a windows.
On Windows it runs perfectly fine
My first experience with this was not at all good. I crashed multiple times in just the first level and couldn't progress. However, now it is functioning okay so I'm hoping this was a fluke (or there was a fix).
I'm having a lot of fun with Xenoraptor now. I love the combat, especially the ability to jump in any direction and to more or less circle-strafe the enemies. The graphics are nice, the music is decent, and the customization is great so far. It has potential, and luckily I haven't experienced repeat crashes again.
The fact it popped out of Early Access without any patches was worrying, but it's since received an update.
I'm turning this into a cautious recommendation..
So you think you'd be able to replace Neo in the Nebuchadnezzar as he shoots the squiddy bois? Or, maybe, you, like, the, Shatner, comma, and feel you could replace him in the USS Enterprise? Perhaps you're just a fan of top down shooters? Well this amazing game, man, it'll be right up your alley! It has a delightful harmonious, future space sound that glows over you as you proceed to barbarically slaughter the chainsaw ship aliens. Forget the fact that they're a species in space with chainsaw ships, you won't have time to think about it amongst the pure chaos and unbridled mayhem. Plus you're a fucking CyberDragon!
I will say upfront, the game currently does crash from time to time, which I think is mostly related to getting Steam Inventory items and Achievements. So essentially once they're out of the way, you're just in space heaven fighting space hell. It's the kind of feel that would make Bruce Lee proud of the "no way as way" style of yin yang on full display in XenoRaptor.
For me, the gameplay, as someone who truly loves top down shooters, the gameplay is so bloody amazing, that I'm not all that bothered by any crashes or bugs. I play these style of games for solo gameplay, that allows me to truly try and better myself. I might not be 'the one', but man does this game make me feel like I'm in a park swinging a de-earthed cemented pole on 100s of Agent Smiths. I imagine in a year from now, I'll have 100s of hours in this gem.
If you're not too bothered by things like plot, high-end graphics, or an epic soundtrack, then this game is pretty damn good.
Seriously, though. This game. It may not look like much, but it's one of the first Steam games I ever experienced, and I'm glad I finally got this for myself. It has witty descriptions, well-thought-out upgrades, and a skill cieling high enough to keep you playing for hours.
XenoRaptor is perfect if you're just looking for something to pass the time (10-15 minutes), but it also rewards you for going through and getting EVERYTHING (just take a look through the Hanger to get an idea).
10/10 would play again.
Great little rogue-eske shooter and for the price (£2.50 in a sale) I didn't feel my money was wasted. There are some issues:
Easy mode makes damage taking better but for some reason increases the number of nme's and it takes forever and an age to get through a level....not really easier
Whilst I have only unlocked around 10 weapons it feels like I am always resorting back to the ones I started with....maybe that will change?
On the plus side,
it is an enjoyable satisfying romp (as long as you like twin sticks),
The nme shot prediction is good and quite challanging.
Lots of unlockables to keep you playing
Visuals are quite pretty and ran smooth for me.
I hope they change the easy mode, just because sometimes you want a more relaxed experience, but not one that you need to clear your calendar for just to get through a level.
hmm, I read so many positive reviews of this game. It is indeed a decent shmup, but it didn't get me hooked. No matter which level or what enemies, you always have your same manoeuvres. Gets a bit boring after some levels doing always the same until all enemies are wiped out.
With no options to control friendly-fire, I don't find this game appealing. It would be really great if multi-player had setting for how much friendly-fire, and/or able to make shots heal/help allies. Nearly unplayable without something like this.
As for bonus features (multiplayer settings/config/options):
-Two people control the same ship (one flies, one shoots)
-Ability to use hanger while dead
-Infinite lives
As maybe you can tell, I only care about multiplayer features. As Early Access Game is definately has potential, but still needs work for me to recommend it.

The correct answer is Z.
The server browsing is broken, but you can invite your friends, and the game is great, even if you don't have enough audible feedback on when you get hit, or when you move, everything is quite well-balanced, despite the exploit allowing infinite multiplayer respawn. Manoeuverability is excellent, and controls are crisp, git gud or get rekt. Music might be a tad repetitive after a while, but is mostly OK. Trying different ship builds is a lot of fun, and bosses are no joke. Some might say it's not the prettiest game out there, but you don't need a PC from 2033 to run it, and appearances are for shallow people. I bought a 4-pack for my friends, and I'm about to buy another one. This probably is one of the best early access games ever.
Big explosions, big guns, big bosses, big fun, great game. I would appreciate a way to turn friendly fire off but you appear to have unlimited lives in multi player so it really doesn't matter. I love the mega singularity bombs, lay one in a pile of asteroids and watch as the enemies get smashed by asteroids to the face. It's been a long time since I've played a good shooter and this one is amazing.
+ Great music
+ Good multiplayer
+ Lots of fun weapons
+ Good customization options
- Friendly fire always on
- Single player is a bit merciless
9/10 needs a soundtrack (that you can buy/download) with it.
UPDATE: The game hasn't been updated in almost four years and hope for any other updates is looking grim. The game is entertaining as-is but keep in mind you'll be buying an incomplete product that likely won't ever be completed if you purchase.
Great bullet-hell twin-stick shooter with broad customisation of the player's ship, and a variety of unorthodox enemies.
Pros:
*Modular ship system; hull, engine, etc
*Modular weapons system; ammo type, payload size, etc.
*All ship and weapon components are upgradable
*Large variety of enemies, including melee-dependant
*Using obstacles & friendly-fire are viable tactics
*Multi-player, both co-op & PvP
Cons?:
*Soundtrack variety is sparse
Shooting rocket propelled chain saw aliens with a cybernetic space raptor that has better weaponry than Iron Man - What else do you really need to know?
XenoRaptor proves that the concept is everything. It offers you a lot of levels, each with their own types of enemies and environmental hazards, giving you the best (or worst) time of your life. Equip yourself with ever-improving weaponry, reaching from chain guns that turn your enemies into cheese to tactical tukes and giant sawblade launchers. Your customization is given barely any limit.
The game is challenging enough to be considered a game more directed towards skilled audiences, but still extends a hand towards the less skilled people by giving you the option of easier difficulties or easy-to-use weapons.
This game is however having it's issues in the replayability, being played through a little too quickly. Unless you are focusing purely on completion or weapon upgrades, you won't be entertained for too long.
It's still recommended to purchase the game if you are a fan of shoot'em'up's and crazy explosions.
Short version. The game runs perfectly fine and in my opinion this game is a great deal of fun. If you enjoy these type of games you should have no real gripes with this one.
I picked up this title because it reminded me of another indie game that I did not expect much from but in the end impressed me more so then any other game this year, Ring Runner: Flight of the Sages. As I am now a fan of this genre I would have enjoyed this game even if it was only half way decent. That being said I do believe this game holds up on its own. The controls are fine, the gameplay is fast and chaotic and it is challenging.
The only complaint (and it is a minor one) I have is that there is only one ship that you can pilot. I love having a selection to choose from. I can understand why they might do this though as it makes the game easier to balance. The biggest complaint I had with RR was that some ships simply out classed others rather then having there be trade offs of say like gaining something while losing something else. What would make this game fantastic is if they did have a few more ships though, like say a really light and quick one, a heavly armored slow ship, etc. and make it so no ship is clearly better then others but would give people the ability to specialize even more so.
I don't really know what they plan to add in the future so my complaint might be unfounded.
