Far Cry® 4

Have to use ubisoft, came back to play after years and apparently i cant play due to being under another email even tho i paid full price for this game. Fuck you Ubisoft

Not really positive but mostly at the middle. Nice game dont get me wrong but i got bored of it really fast, really repetative do this and this over and over again. Valley of yetis is the perfect example as you need to defend the station 5times.... Its just a bit too much.

Other than that really nice story and enjoyable gameplay

Like the previous games in the series I really enjoyed this Far Cry 4. It starts with music from the Clash, how can you beat that? There is so much to do, so many characters and experiences to have. You might be shooting people one moment and foraging for herbs the next. I love gradually getting better and better guns so I can kill the enemy with more style. I didn’t want to miss out on any part of this so I completed the game 100%. It took me 111 hours.

I highly enjoy the Far Cry series. This game is no different. Good starting point for anyone wanting to get into the franchise while not going too far back in graphic capabilities. Great game!

they make it such an absolute nightmare to just open the game i have 2 accounts because my first one cant be logged into because the 2 step verification uses an app that is no longer on the app store and i cant open the game because it opens the ubisoft launcher that says i dont own anything and wont open the game love buying the season pass to not play the game entirely

Far Cry 3 2.0 - India DLC

Apart from the fact that this game is basically Far Cry 3 with mountains, FC 4 is one of the best games in the franchise.

Pros:
- Large variety of activities to do in the game
- The division between Amita and Sabal bring something different to the lore
- Progression is very natural
- Lots of collectibles, notes and places
- There's a fucking gyrocopter to fly over kyrat

Cons:
- Outposts and towers are boring AF if you've played FC 3
- I've had some difficulties with the waypoints, sometimes they've disappeared out of nowhere
- Moving through the mountains is so freaking disappointing sometimes
- Ajay is way too overpowered IMO

The game is also not that difficult, specially after you get the buzzer, boy, that makes the game easy

TLDR; game is good, mountain bad, buy if on sale

The game itself is great and a worthy sequel to the FarCry series.

What really pisses me off though is the fact that the game cannot be played offline, thanks to Ubisoft Connect. Their "Play offline" function still tries to connect to the servers and won't let you start the game. For those of us with crappy internet connections that is a no-no.

After being able to play yesterday I could not log in today and did a rage uninstall. Good thing that I still had Fallout 4 installed so I am playing that now instead

This is literally my first FPS game. Surprisingly, This game is a motion-sickness free experience. This is the only FPS game that I am comfortable with right now.

Review of Far Cry 4

I'll never forget the level of excitement that consumed me leading up to Far Cry 4's release. To this day, I'd consider myself a pretty big fan of the Ubisoft Far Cry series. My favorite game tends to bounce between a couple, but it's almost consistently always been Far Cry 4. Even though the game launched to great success, and many have come to appreciate it years later, I feel as though it often gets overshadowed by Far Cry 3.

While FC3 was a big deal, and is a game I also love, referring to Far Cry 4 with the unfortunate and lazy argument of "Copy/Paste" is not only unfair, but completely asinine. It did what any good sequel should do. Took a now well established formula, refined the parts that needed work. Spiced up the existing bits, and expanded upon it with new content.

A Mother's Dying Wish (Story)
The plot of FC4 puts you into the shoes of Ajay Ghale. Who's traveling to his birth country of Kyrat high in the Himalayan Mountains. Based on the real world locations of Nepal & Tibet (I believe?). Ajay's mother wished to have her ashes returned to "Lakshmana", though exactly what or where this is was never conveyed. Upon arriving, Ajay finds himself being thrust into a civil war between the Golden Path & the country's ruler Pagan Min, and his Royalists.

I won't deny that Pagan Min is one of, if not just outright, my favorite atagonists in the series. Even if, like usual, he's underutilized. You see, to make a good villain that's also interesting, is to humanize them. Their goals may be noble, and their heart may be in the right place. However their methods may be morally dubious. Not only does Pagan seem to want what's best for Kyrat, but he also seems to care a lot about Ajay. As it turns out, your parents, the Golden Path, and Pagan Min, all share a common history. Let's not forget just how charismatic Pagan is.

Far Cry 4 has multiple endings, with variations throughout them depending on smaller choices made during your playthrough. While progressing, you'll need to side with one of two leaders in the Golden Path. Amita & or Sabal. Each has their own vision for the future of Kyrat. Your decisions will lead to not only alternative missions & objectives, but the outcome of multiple character's fates. Of course FC4 is also known for its "Secret" ending, which can be obtained in the opening minutes of the prologue. Amita & Sabal are insufferable at times. Though this is intentional.

Welcome to Kyrat (Gameplay & Setting)
Many people tend to forget, that a lot of the series' staples were birthed right here in FC4. Sure, plenty of them are further expanded upon in later titles, but the roots are within this game. A flyable aircraft. Early 'Guns for Hire' system. Animal companion mechanics. Rideable animals. Antagonist "Lieutenants". Cooperative play. More diverse & improved takedowns. The grappling hook, and more.

In comparison to the previous game, FC4 is much larger in terms of content & variety. This time around we have maybe 4-5 times the amount of different secondary quests, some of which have their own character's and mini-stories. Alongside the main story, you'll also be able to hunt down blood diamonds for Longinous, test out new drugs for Yogi & Reggie, or explore Shangri-La through the eyes of Kalinag. An arena with its own progression & challenges. Random world events that increase your Karma for additional rewards. Hundreds of collectibles, some of which unlock readable entries. Scattered notes to learn more about Kyrat and its people. A majority of the weaponry from the third game return, with an added roster of entirely new toys to play around with. Including my absolute favorite, the MG42. With DLC, you'll also be able to take on a Hurk related questline & multiple standalone missions. Many of which send you up in to the freezing cold summits of the Himalayas. I could go on.

I'd like to mention Fortresses as well. They're massive strongholds, one for each of the antagonists. The idea is that they become weaker once you've defeated their commander. These are amazingly fun, but seemingly unique only to this game. They also have a feature where Royalists will try to retake captured outposts in a region, until that region's fortress has been taken down.

Kyrat itself is a lot more dense than previous play areas. Considering there's no ocean here. Instead, the game makes use of verticality much more. This being a breeze thanks to the new grappling hook utility. The Pacific islands from FC3 are gorgeous, but I will never be able to keep my jaw from dropping when you see that impressive backdrop of the snow capped mountains that surround Kyrat. Split between a Northern & Southern territory, with lots of beautiful scenery.

Visuals & OST
Visually, Far Cry 4's fidelity is a step up. Especially in regards to lighting. However the visual styles of Kyrat & its culture is distinctly different to that of FC3. The audio in the game is great. Weapons sound heavy and powerful. The forest ambience lets you get lost in its virtual space.

I don't think FC4's soundtrack comes even close to the amazing OST from FC3. That's not to say there isn't some great tracks here though. Such as the Shangri-La finale boss theme.

Frustrations
With all the good, there's naturally some ugly. Most of these issues got on my nerves, but are small enough to not ruin the overall experience. FC4 is filled with exotic wild animals. However, these are either too common, or too aggressive. Dholes & Wolves are especially obnoxious. You'll get jumped by a Leopard, walk 20 feet and get attacked by a pack of wolves, walk 20 feet and get latched by an eagle, walk 20 feet and get attacked by another pack of wolves. The problem with eagles, is that they force you into an animation where they grab your arm. But this animation happens 100% of the time, and triggers when they're still diving on you. Giving you very little time you kill it before being forced to take 75% of your health in damage because a couple talons poked your arm.

Toss in some crashes during the racing activities. Some grapple spots that wouldn't register. Undiscovered locations that have really annoying sweet spots to trigger as being explored. Horrible auto drive system that throws off aim. Enemies either not seeing you five feet in front of them, or spotting you through trees from a mile away. Bow wielding enemies firing with perfect accuracy on the move. The wing suit deploying when simply trying to jump between gaps. Etc. Aside from these issues I had, Far Cry 4 is an absolute blast.

Conclusion (Pros & Cons)

I hope that if you've ever put off playing Far Cry 4, you'll give it a chance. Whether you're a fan of Far Cry or Open World games in general, it's well worth it in my opinion. Although I'm quite familiar with the game, it took roughly 25.5 hours to 100% the game on the hardest difficulty for this review. You can get more content in the form of the standalone DLC's Escape From Durgesh and the expansion pack that is Valley of the Yeti. There's also a map editor & competitive multiplayer.

Far Cry 4 builds on Far Cry 3—improved gameplay, great setting, decent story.

In the year 2025, Ubisoft stupidly applied censorship to a game released in 2014 to kneal before and appease the CCP. Buy nothing from Ubi until they realize the free-world is most important to mankind

Once again a game gets retroactively censored years after release, proving not only that western games industry is completely ideologically captured, but that we also do not own our games at all. anything can be taken away from us at any time and we are powerless to prevent it, outside of legal means that is.

Superb game. Great setting. Story is awesome and so is the gameplay. One of my favourites and very close to my heart. The environment is pure bliss and the gameplay is grittier than it's successors, but some might argue that FC3 is better. That's personal preference if you prefer an island over a mountain,

Do try it but don't give your money to Ubisoft. Get a "different" version of this game from "somewhere else".

Edit - Nevermind, that censorship update was a mistake.

11 years later, Ubisoft decided to release a 5GB update to censor some nudity instead of bug fixing, just to please Tencent due to rules in China. Just give Chinese players their own version of game and launcher like what Steam did, no need to force your stupid heavy updates on all worldwide players.

Edit: The update targets the users in Japan which still doesn't justify their action. Neither the censorship nor their mistake of affecting all players. Now you have to download another 10GB patch and say goodbye to your working mods.

Ubisoft broke all the ambient music in FC4 with a patch years ago and never bothered to restore it - some great music that fitted the Himalayan setting perfectly and really added to the game. There was a big patch yesterday so I had high hopes that they'd finally got around to fixing it but of course not. Instead, more than a decade after its release, there are now 2.5 GB worth of bras and loin clothes on the very slim number of characters with partial nudity and another UPlay installer in the game files. Ubisoft are incapable of not shooting themselves in the foot.

Baita jogão, Far Cry 3 até então era o meu favorito e eu tinha até um certo preconceito com os outros jogos da saga, mas o 4 é um baita jogo. Bão demais a jogabilidade e tudo.
Só achei paia o fato de não poder pular as cutscenes (fazia tanto tempo que joguei far cry que nem lembrava disso) e também achei o final uma merda. O único final minimamente decente é o final secreto dos 15 min. Os "oficiais" são bem paia, mas de resto é um baita jogo.

This is not for me. I may have messed up by playing 5 first THEN this one. But the same appeal is not there as there was for 5 (or other games TBH). It has issues on 1st launch (one of the sound files or something was acting up or something). Relaunched and tried to get past the intro mission and it just felt boring to me. May be for someone else, but not for me.

I finished this game on console before and it was very enjoyable. This game adheres to all the features of the Far Cry series and has high graphics, animation and beautiful gameplay similar to Far Cry 5. The variety of missions and hunting is well designed. You can spend hours immersed in the beautiful environment of the game with the story and stages that are told in beautiful forests. In this version, an air vehicle has been unveiled for the first time. After completing a number of stages, you will have your own house and even upgrade it. The sub-stages are designed with a large number and interesting that can entertain you after finishing the game. But one thing really upset me, I bought the game a few months ago but unfortunately the game does not run and Ubisoft support ultimately could not help me despite many attempts. I hope this problem will be resolved in the near future.

Genuinely a great game, played it years ago. FUCKING HATE UBISOFT CONNECT THO- I FUCKING HOPE THE CEO OF UBISOFT BURNS IN A FIRE YOU ARE A FUCKING TERRIBLE PERSON

Ubisoft's connect launcher they continue to insist that everyone is forced to use has now killed this game. Somewhere in the install process your ubisoft launcher becomes outdated and suddenly the game won't launch or even give an error code. Every kind of fix imaginable has been tried short of an exorcism to get this game to start. This isn't my specs or running too many apps it is genuinely not working when hitting play.

Requires a Ubi account connection, loading times are extremely long.

Gameplay is mundane, but good to relax since little thought needed. Cut scenes remove collectibles like rare animal hides, so make sure to prioritize looting before missions.

Game constantly requests my location, even though I've disabled access to location info for all devices. Huge violation of privacy.

One of the best games in the Series- likely THE BEST. You can ride an elephant while wielding a rocket launcher... What more could you ask for from a video game?

Game is super fun. Even if you don't usually play shooters, the gameplay is diverse and doesn't have that many following missions like ubisoft games usually do, I'll always prefer this to Farcry 3.

you have to do the entire of act 1 for coop just to find out that you cant even do the main storyline in coop mode and are locked to side quests and exploring only

well first 90% of the game was good, then
* 2 "unknown locations" is undiscoverable,
* the game stucks on loading screen after the last shangri-la boss
due to known bugs and ubisoft just does nothing about this, it's a shame =/

Far Cry 4 is a fantastic game that delivers an immersive story, beautiful graphics, and a captivating world to explore. Although the drug themes can feel repetitive and the villain doesn’t reach the iconic status of Vaas, it’s still an incredibly fun game that deserves a big thumbs up. It’s a must-play for any fan of open-world shooters, offering a memorable experience from start to finish.

From the perspective of base game this is the best far cry by far. The amount of culture and scenery of this game is so good. This is a passion project from ubisoft and its a 10/10 if not for bugs.

- base game is fine some slightly annoying things but its fine the maps for the collectibles make it doable
- steam achievements on the other hand were miserable due to the low player count the multiplayer achievement you have to coordinate with others also going for the achievement. Also the multiplayer sucks xd

Pagan Min steals the show as one of the most charismatic villains in gaming. However, the main story can feel a bit predictable, and the protagonist, Ajay Ghale, is more of a blank slate compared to previous leads. That said, the faction choices and multiple endings add some replayability.

🔊 Sound & Atmosphere – 10/10
The sound design is phenomenal. The gun sounds are punchy, the ambient noise immerses you in the world, and the soundtrack perfectly fits the setting. Pagan Min’s voice acting alone deserves a 10/10.

Co-op mode lets you tackle outposts and explore Kyrat with a friend, which adds a ton of fun. The variety of weapons, vehicles, and approaches to combat make it easy to come back for more.

Far Cry 4 takes everything great about Far Cry 3 and refines it while adding more chaos, more freedom, and more elephants. If you love open-world shooters with plenty of action and exploration, this is one of the best in the series.

Some say Far Cry 4 is the peak of the series but i would not go that far. I think Far Cry 3 had a better story with the help of a great villain..to be fair Pagan Min wasn't that bad either and in terms of content and quality it's a close race for the best game in the franchise.

Ajay is an uninteresting main protagonist..if in Far Cry 3 we had a journey and real transformation for Jason here we just don't feel any change...oh and Amita and Sabal i hate them but let just keep this spoiler free.

The gameplay was great and fast paced, there are 100 ways to liberate an outpost and i'm not kidding ..if you decide to have fun just set something on fire hide and let the wind do its magic.
You can free cages and use predators like tigers or bears to your advantage,you can even ride elephants but the real fun begins when you lure a few rhinos toward your enemies..

Chaining takedowns feels great, stealth is rewarding but maybe too op... you can turn enemies to toys just by trowing rocks..if you use a silencer or a bow it becomes a playground where you're controlling everything. Using mines and setting traps with c4 was my favorite strategy , it was so funny watching enemies trying to reach the alarm posts.

Speaking of fun some of the side missions and dlcs were great ..i also enjoyed hunting in this game a lot. For its age this game still looks good and i consider it playable.

Absolutely horrendous port. Genuinely cannot believe this is for sale. I am frequently required to restart my pc after running this game because of visual artifacts which persist after the game is closed. It actually rewrote my gamepad inputs, so that while it worked for about 30 minutes after that B on an xbox 1 gamepad became left d-pad, the xbox button became jump, etc. With no way to remap controls at all or fix that, the game became unplayable after about 70 minutes. Horrendous.

The dynamics of the map is one of the best part
Also the Indian setting is really cool, feels like home sort of and cussing in bad words is just the cherry on top 🤣🤣👌

Wingsuit has about a 50% chance of instantly killing you when landing. The deploy button is also the same as sprint, so if you so much as look at a slight ledge while sprinting, it will launch you. Yet, somehow I have also had several instances where I jump off a cliff, only for the wingsuit to refuse to deploy, getting me killed.

I've also had several instances of enemies, especially animals, stunlocking me to death with the knock down animation. Which is extremely frustrating.
Rushing to takedown an enemy, only for them to turn and shove you to the ground, then shoot you to death while you wait an eon for the get up animation to play out, then another eon before you can fire your gun or move, is one of the worst game designs I have ever seen.

Besides the horrendous decision to constantly shift your FOV in the most absurd situations, (such as simply looking side to side while in a vehicle) these are the only big issues I have had. However, they are so common, it genuinely has ruined the experience for me. There has been WAY more deaths that felt unfair or broken, than genuine mistakes on my end.

absolutely love this game- i think it has one of the best settings in gaming. very rare to see a game based on india and nepal done so well.

it does that have the ubisoft open world gameplay- find a tower, find an outpost, kill everyone, do a mission, repeat.

but, the story, characters, and map are well worth it. it's between this and 3 as my favorite far cry.

The basic mechanics are showing their age a bit too much for me. Far Cry 5 was my first FC game and I like it significantly more so that might color my review, but it's my truth.

This game is amazing however i have encountered so many bugs. Hate the fact i can't change the wingsuit keybind..i keep trying to bunnyhop and end up wingsuiting straight into the ground and end up dying. Uhmmm another thing that was painful where the shangri-la missions. Remember when i first played the game on 360 i hated them back then and i still hate them 10 years later. I'm yet to play the yeti dlc...really curious how that plays

I really enjoy the aspect of how open world it is and that you have the freedom to choose what to do.

The indian touch to it, the hindi absuses, the scenic views, the story of the game, in all the whole game itself.

Just to get this out of the way, I played #1 on PC, completed it and enjoyed it, #2 on PS3 completing most of it, I enjoyed it for a while, but overall found it tedious and repetitive and #3 on PS3, completed it an thought it the best of the series, and still do, of those that I have played.

So, #4... well, first time I launched the game, I couldn't get it to work, despite updating Uplay, logging out and back in, rebooting etc, Uplay kept telling me it was out of date and the game would not launch... then randomly it worked... I look forward to the next time I try to launch the game.

As for the game...

The prologue is just a linear tutorial/intro of sorts, and now on Act 2, while the game appears to have a reasonably sized map, it feels claustrophobic and still linear. I've just been going back and forth doing missions, spending more time travelling then anything. There thus far seems very little to do in terms of having a little fun along the way to doing said missions, and even less in terms of enemies (other than an over abundance of wildlife) outside of missions... other than the occasional random encounter of friendly's being ambushed on the road.

As eluded to earlier, animals/wildlife respawn way too often/quickly and early on this can be a problem due to the limited ammo you can carry and that certain wildlife can be absolute bullet sponges.

Gunplay, even for the games age isn't satisfying, it's limp and sloppy with no feedback and every gun (of the same type), just feels exactly the same.

The hang glider mechanics and controls are absolutely terrible, and ground vehicles feel way to twitchy and floaty.

To interact with something, or to talk to someone, you literally have to shove your face right up against the object/person you feel like you are trying to physically merge with it/them.

Audio levels at times are all over the place.

There are a few graphical glitches, the most notable and frequently encountered is when approaching an animal you've killed, to skin it, the animal develops a texture overlay akin to old timey television static. Alt tabbing back to desktop and then back to the game seems to be the root cause of some of the glitches occurring and definitely makes them far more frequent.

Unskippable cut scenes, not something I would normally do with such a game, but some are just too cringe to bare.

FC3 had memorable NPC's and a half decent plot, overall it was a fun and enjoyable game that I still largely remember to this day, with FC4 I'm only 5 hours in, yet I've not met a single NPC I care or give a toss about and frankly I've already given up on the plot. Sadly, I genuinely don't see me completing very much of this game, let alone remember any of it when I move on.

I realise that I have not played much of the game yet, but the reason that I have chosen to write this review at this point is as follows...

I recently got access to use a gyrocopter, which given the terrible implementation of the hang glider, I was very happy about, that was until I tried to land near the settlement of Banapur.

There was ample room on the ground around the settlement to land, yet despite this as I descended, the gyro got thrown up into the air, which appears be the result of an incredibly lazy design choice to prevent you from landing somewhere that isn't entirely flat or prevent colliding with something, which coupled with the hit box for either trees, the gyro or both being much bigger than their actual models, sadly these poor decisions lead to a rather serious problem.

The reason being, the gyro can only go so high, and when it goes too high, it stalls, so I proceeded for over 15 minutes to bounce into the air, stall, bounce, stall, in a near infinite loop where I had no control over the gyro.

Eventually, after spending some time reading the news online while listening to a couple of YouTube videos, constantly having stalling sounds from the gyro playing in the background, the gyro had managed to work itself out of the loop.

It's fair to say that I won't be getting in a gyro again anytime soon, which given the terrible controls of the glider and floaty controls for land vehicles which, coupled with the cluttered map containing no memorable POI's that just makes land travel tedious.
