This game will not run. I have multiple times over the years to not do the black screen on death bug, It will not autosave my new game, it will not stop black screening. I have spent hours following online guides, editing xml and registry files, and trying to get folders to not be read-only. No amount of running in administrator will fix this game. Don't even buy on sale, it will not run.
In my opinion the absolute best gaming experience is to be had with 4.
Its like far cry 3 just stuttering. Graphics and gameplay are beautiful... really bad pc port
coop is bugged. i cant play with my buddy at all. sometimes when i try and join his game it even crashes. the other 99% of the time the game says "joining" and then either he crashes or i do. nothing ive tried has made this work
FC4 is basically FC3 but:
- bigger
- like, much bigger, and more vertical
- more content and different side activities
- set in a mountainous forest instead of a tropical jungle.
It also works right out of the box here on PC unlike 3, which requires quite a bit of effort to get running well on Windows 11.
Anyways, the plot is definitely weaker than 3, and the gameplay doesn't evolve much past 3. However, the story missions and side content are a lot more fun, and mechanically, the game is more polished (gunplay, driving, graphics, etc.). Additionally, you gain access to the wingsuit early on here in 4, compared to the last third of 3.
I never played the multiplayer, so I can't comment on that. I enjoyed Hurk's DLC missions, but they didn't stand out in any way other than Hurk's bombastic personality. I didn't enjoy the prison escape DLC, mostly because it's designed as a replayable high score mode where you try to do as many things as possible in the time limit, which doesn't do it for me in a Far Cry game. I did like Valley of the Yetis though. It's short, and you can't replay the night survivals, but there's still fun to be had in my opinion.
with FarCry you really can't go wrong. it's always a solid game, well made, and everything works how you expect it to work. there's a lot in terms of side quests, but not so much that it becomes overwhelming
ultimately though.. the story didn't blow me away.
as usual it's young person lands in war torn land, joins the rebels and for some reason the president has his mobile number and keeps calling.
while playing I kept thinking about the game that was next on my playlist.
I like the game, the environment, the mechanics and etc. Very similar to Far Cry 3.
The thing I think I don't like about this game are:
1. How Ajay learned so much about weapons easily, something that Far Cry 3 was able to deliver successfully (I'm comparing it to Far Cry 3 because it's the only game aside from FC4 where the protagonist is a civilian). I feel like the whole part of him becoming a warrior was rushed.
2. There's so many animals! It's so unrealistic!
3. So many micro missions that interrupts you from doing what you're doing (The Karma thing). It's cool at first but it became annoying afterwards.
Gameplay wise, I like everything about it. I'm not done with the game yet but so far it's interesting. It's heavily rooted in Indian culture and beliefs which is a bit cool, I think. It's good to find a game that doesn't always focus on Greek and Egyptian Mythology.
This game still holds well in 2024. There are enough things to do and the villain is more original than you usually see. As much hate this series gets lately, the fourth game is enjoyable and detailed enough.
Here is my mini-review after completing the single player campaign:
- I found the combat in Far Cry 4 to be enjoyable, with a good balance of stealth and action options.
- The variety of weapons was impressive, which kept engagements diverse and interesting.
- The open-world environment of Kyrat was well-designed, offering plenty of exploration opportunities and dynamic events.
- The freedom to approach missions and outposts in multiple ways added a layer of strategy that I appreciated.
- The story was engaging enough to keep me interested, especially the choice-driven aspects that impacted the narrative.
- The game provided a solid progression system, and I enjoyed upgrading my skills through exploration and completing tasks.
- I liked the addition of vehicles like the Buzzer, which made moving around the map easier and more fun.
- The side missions and activities, while not groundbreaking, added extra content to enjoy between main story missions.
Overall, Far Cry 4 delivered a well-rounded experience that was worth the playthrough. While it may not break new ground in some areas, it hits the right notes for fans of open-world shooters.
“I’m very particular with my words…. Stop, shoot, stop, shoot”
Farcry 4 is a free roam open world first person shooter, with some story elements in it. Do yourself a favor and don't buy it.
The gamedesign is unimaginative and cheap. You are constantly offered the same content and it is repeated an incredible amount of times for the purpose of being able to spend more time on this game than you will ever want. Most hard challenges are only that, hard. Not fun, not rewarding, not interesting, just hard and boring.
You can fly a helicopter, which is a strange choice, because it allows the player to see how empty the world really is, even better than from the ground. Exploration should be a huge factor in an open world free roam game, but there is nothing out there for the player to find that could ever incite any modicum of joy.
There is so much more to be said, but unlike the developers of this game I know that sometimes less is better. Go buy a cool indy game like Death's Door or something. It will likely cost you less and actually make your life a little more beautiful. I can't recommend that game enough!
all the characters in this game are SO ANNOYING and one dimensional. whoever thought of the rabi ray radio being the only station while driving needs to be imprisoned along with their kin. the yogi and whoever missions were completely pointless ubisoft filler, like how does your character let this two morons drug you four times. in terms of far cry gameplay it wasn't bad though!
its a good game ,not as good as fc3
good graphics and very well optimised
only thing caused problem is i couldnt sprint in the game with my controller dont know why
but i completed this game with k+m
overall 3.5 out of 5 i would say
I loved playing through this one, compelling story, interesting characters, satisfying combat, unique side missions and one of the most beautiful maps I have ever seen, elite game for sure.
There are two reasons I dislike this game. One is related to this PC port, and the other is in relation to the game's content. I'll start with the PC port.
Dude, this game is SERIOUSLY unstable. Like, INSANELY unstable. Get this: I launched the map editor *once* several years ago, and it caused the game to brick on startup almost permanently. Every single time I tried to launch the game, it would pop up with the logo, and crash. You want to know how I fixed it? By going into my computer's Registry Edit application and deleting the Ubisoft folder. HUH?! You're telling me that Ubisoft is selling a game where you need to modify your system files to ever play it again if you touch the wrong application???
This is utterly appalling to me that they'd ever bother selling a game in this state. And NO, don't give me the "just update Ubisoft Connect and use the technical troubleshooting!" crap, *THIS* is how you fix it. Ubisoft, as well as its support responses should be ashamed for selling a game that is so easily broken; For those that aren't so tech savvy or understanding of things like RegEdit, this might as well be a permanently broken game until they purchase an entirely new computer.
Regarding the game:
For me, no amount of gloomy tone and good worldbuilding will ever account for the grindy nature of the game's collectibles, and sluggish/shoddy movement. I love how morally grey this game is, but my hatred for the incessant bugs and jank trump my enjoyment of the game's ideas regarding narrative.
Death from Above often not proccing, or landing on an environment violently mid-animation causing sound propagation is a regular occurrence, making stealth obnoxious; With regards to which, enemies are insanely twitchy with stealth: if you accidentally melee an enemy before the arbitrary takedown context is met, regardless of how quickly you takedown the enemy thereafter, enemies will ALWAYS be alerted by the sound of the khukri slashing. Weapons feel very samey, and that classic Ubisoft bitcrush is in full swing for pretty much the entire game. No cutscene skipping, a swath of annoying characters and forgettable characters alike; The standout is pretty much just Pagan.
I adored this game as a kid but I can't see myself playing it again with how many annoyances I regularly run into with this game.
this game is a reskin of far cry 3, but the map is harder to navigate as it is set in the Himalayas. I can recommend it, if you have never played any far cry games before this one. For everyone else, just stand still for a while in the opening scene when you are told to wait.
The first 24 hours are from the pause screen because I forgot to turn off my PC after starting it.
I went to hunt a Rhino.
Found the Rhino.
Uses a bow.
Shoots Rhino in the face.
Miss
Rhino Charges me
I run
Gets hit by Rhino
Tiger comes out of nowhere
Kills me
I then go home and turn on this game.
10/10
Very good game i enjoyed story I recommend to buy far cry 4 it has very good graphics i liked antagonist and protagonist game is very beautiful
Love driving physics and radio music, and the landscape is stunning. Plus, it was surprisingly fun battling my “stepfather” for control of Kyrat. A wild and memorable experience all around, just like I remember it.
8/10
Great game-play in a beautiful, detailed setting. Strong story-line.
Good game the graphics are good the mountain can be painful but the story, the character are excelent. I will recommend to try this game.
Still the best entry in the series imo. Has aged extremely well for a 10 year old game at the time of writing, especially considering it is basically a reskin of FC3. I particularly enjoy the crafting system, it's a shame they got rid of it in 5.
That said, it is a 10 year old game and should be priced as such. Wait for sale (which is quite often).
One of the best games in the far cry franchise and as a first person shooter as well. the takedowns, the weapons, the view, its all perfect. I enjoyed the hell out of it and Far cry 4 is a must play from my side...
LOVED IT...............
Amazing quality coming from the folks who can't seem to stop touching their employees inappropriately. Maybe stop harassing your employees long enough to understand how to handle aspect ratios?! Can't remember the last 'AAA' game that couldn't display resolutions properly (only 2k to boot), but again not surprised with Ubisoft.
Far Cry 4 is an incredible game that builds on everything that made Far Cry 3 great. It's packed with action, stunning environments, and offers endless opportunities for creative chaos. The gameplay is fun and immersive, with ambushing Royal Army patrols from the shadows or raining destruction with the grenade launcher being some of the most satisfying moments. The addition of mortars is a game-changer, letting you unleash devastation from a distance in a whole new way. While it can become a little repetitive after a while, the overall experience is still highly enjoyable. Definitely worth playing!
I buy it because play it on PS3 back in days but on PC bacuse of co-op play but you cant even join to game because of terrible net code or how its called, always says can join try later.
Yes ppls tell you do port forwarding but not want do it because of security reasons and it not worth of that risk having always port opened.
And this is easy fixable but Bugisoft game devs are just lazy do it.
I keep meaning to continue in the far cry series, even with number 7 in development, but I continually find myself returning to this game. It is my go to game for overall game play and immersive storytelling. I highly recommend jumping in and losing yourself to a journey to Shambala.
Having played Far Cry 3 a year after its release, Far Cry 4 was the first game in the series I dove into right when it came out. If I thought the setting of Far Cry 3 was immersive, Far Cry 4 took that sense of place to another level. The map of Kyrat remains, to this day, one of the most beautiful and well-crafted environments I’ve seen in the series. From the snow-capped peaks to the dense forests and ancient ruins, the landscape feels both vibrant and remote, creating an atmosphere that pulls you in immediately.
Being Indian, the setting had a particular resonance for me. While the fictional Kyrat is not based on any specific real-world location, its Himalayan backdrop and cultural touchstones felt familiar. Yet, the remoteness the game manages to convey, through both its story and its richly detailed world-building, is what sets it apart. The feeling that you are in a place untouched by modernity—almost like a parallel world, full of hidden dangers and secrets—kept me enthralled throughout the game. It was an immersive journey that felt both personally identifiable and yet completely foreign, which is no easy feat for any game to achieve.
The characters, too, added to this sense of detachment from reality. Pagan Min, the flamboyant yet terrifying antagonist, brings a surreal element to the story, with his unpredictable, larger-than-life personality fitting perfectly with Kyrat’s wild and lawless environment. The narrative is more straightforward than in Far Cry 3, but the way the game uses its setting and characters to create a sense of isolation from the rest of the world is where it really shines.
Far Cry 4 builds upon almost all the strengths of its predecessor while creating a distinct, memorable world that feels both familiar and otherworldly. If Far Cry 3 was a return to gaming for me, Far Cry 4 felt like stepping into a beautifully crafted dream—a remote paradise, filled with fun and thrill and danger, waiting to be explored.
Played this game years ago on xbox 360 and then on pc which at that time i was in highschool and HAD to buy a new cpu since it was the first game that required multi threading. Its a blast 10 years later and still looks amazing, but unfortunately this game was at the stage where ubisoft decided that adding bloat=better game. But if you ignore the bloat and do the missions to progress your skills and level up its a solid 8/10 game
Cool, i like the graphics, the mechanics looks the same from old farcry 3, the only issue is the interface, it can get a bit tricky to understand the game mechanics and navigate into all the options, but overall, the game is good, can't wait to try farcry 5 next
It is perfect as i expected. Loving every second of it. cant wait to play the 3rd one.

It's a solid entry in the Far Cry franchise, even though in many aspects it's an almost carbon-copy from Far Cry 3. Noteworthy aspects are the locations and map, which features different scenery and beautiful vistas, complete with different fauna and flora, and multiple ways to explore the world. The gunplay is fun enough and the missions and activities are different enough to never be bored.
However, the main key negative aspect for me is the amount of repetitive tasks there is just to progress the story - liberating towers and outposts, collecting different pelts the same random encounter happening in a short period of time.
Getting past that, it's a solid entry with a great story, and one of the most memorable villains in the saga.
Definitely not as strong as Far Cry 3, but that's a really high bar to surpass. For a game that's been out for 10 years this is still a great game to buy and you will enjoy the classic Far Cry gameplay.

Great sequel off the back of Far Cry 3. Lots of improvements. Love the grappling hook, love the setting, love Rabi Ray Rana. The signature guns are more interesting and gunplay is improved. Side activities are more fun and extended. Only complaints about this one are the characters, including Pagan Min which I know is unpopular, and story which are meh in my opinion and the choice of only having the peaks available in certain missions. I feel the characters in this one are a step down compared to Far Cry 3 as they are just not as interesting / likeable or just too over the top / tryhard feeling when it comes to Pagan Min (similar to Deadpool or Lucifer).
good classic far cry game, no need to say more, very similar to assasin's creed series even though its the same company that made them
The hunting system for this game is very good. There are some glitches and performance issues, but I got it for sale and its's not a very new game. I'm not really a big fan of shooting games, but this game has a ton of nature exploration, side quests and fun storylines to keep you otherwise entertained. The combat is a bit boring and repititive, but overall is generally smooth as long as you play on the easy of normal difficulties, like I do. The setting is also very fun for me and the game design is stunning; I just can't stop wandering around the map.
Its a pretty cool game, runs great on 1080p ultra on a rx6600, ryzen 5500 and 16gb of ram. gameplay is super fun as with almost every farcry game
good game, play, its good, good game play, play this game
The game is very cool, my favorite part of the Far Cry series, I would like a sequel.
This game has few differences from the other Far Cry games, but nonetheless it was fun for me to play. The open world is very similar to the other games, as is the combat. I liked the villain (Pagan Min), he had a lot of charisma and was acted very well. I also liked most of the friendly characters as well, including the unique aspect of getting to side with one or another during critical story moments, and this actually changes the goals of certain missions. I think this idea was cool, but not quite fleshed out to its full potential.
Like the other Far Cry games, I only recommend this if you're in the mood to play this specific type of open world/almost sandbox-ish game. There are a lot of elements in all these games that I do not like or agree with because they are designed to pad game time and do not feel respectful to the player's (increasingly limited nowadays) free time to play video games. I don't think it isn't worth playing though, there are an endless amount of games out there that are far worse. So that's my recommendation, play it if you want, but it's not a must by any means.
Its fun and keeps you playing for hours, recomend this game
A masterpiece game in the FPS genre. Pagan Min is the center of attention. He is like the cool charismatic uncle you never had but wished you had. Apart from that game play is peak. Hard to believe the same Ubisoft today is struggling to make a competent piece of game that barely even works.
It's a good game, I played it 10 years ago when i was a kid. Purchased recently to refresh childhood memories.
Edit: For god sake, fix the wing suite opening up even for short distances, I was in a bell tower making an impossible jump and it opened. WTH.
I fell hard for the aesthetics, surrounded by huge ass mountains. But that liking took a nosedive so freakin fast at The Wolf Den quest. UI design is so f#ckin bad. I accidentally let go of the button i was holding cuz the UI design is so f#ckin bad, and now molotov is already been used. Can't find another molly around. I've got a high-end pc. S#it runs hot despite of settings everything to LOW. Thanks for killing the game for me. Forget buying this game on sale, don't bother installing it even if it's free
Great game, very addictive, the best part of all the series, I recommend!
played this many years ago. I remembered it being good.
its not. unlike fc2 (aka the good one), this is unplayable on hard, but way too easy on regular. just all around not worth playing. also feels like a huge middle finger from the devs that the only good ending is by just not doing anything at the very beginning of the game and not getting to play any of the content; otherwise, you get to choose between being a religious terrorist or a narco-terrorist. really satisfying!
it's just more far cry but without ubisoft's shittyness. you dont need to connect to their BS launcher like in far cry 3 so play it!
very amazing game, gives the vibes of surviving and fighting at the same time, also just like all the FarCry games, the antagonist is not just a bad guy and kinda has a point, very fun experience
