Good game, mostly enjoyed, but interface makes for a poor experience
As puzzle games go, this one wasn't too bad. It has tried to create a unique gaming experience, and for the most part it has succeeded in that. Some bad points skewed my experience into being on the fence - only slightly enough to stop me from giving it a thumbs up.
I don't pretend to understand the story, if there is one. Instead, having got it for the puzzle gameplay, I found I was initially disappointed as not far into the game it seemed to devolve into a basic platformer, or fall-to-death simulator.
I'm glad I pressed on though, as my dismay turned to something more akin to satisfaction. Some puzzles were a bit basic but having experienced most puzzle games, and as a keen enjoyer of the British 1% Club on TV, I've probably seen it all before in one form or another.
As an art style, the minimalist white environments could be seen as unique, but I equate that with 'lazy'. When everything is so white, so bland and featureless, it just makes me think it's half-finished. Sure there was some colour in there for a bit, but not nearly enough. It's like walking around with your eyes closed.
Questionable art aside, one feature of the gameplay that grated on my nerves was the boxes you could pick up. It wasn't until much later I realised you could pick up boxes without standing next to them, but early on when you try to carry them up close they end up sliding under your feet and you just spend the whole time tripping over your box. So there's some sort of delay with carried items when you start moving that is difficult to overlook.
Next point is the achievements. Great concept, except once you finish the game for the first time there is no way of knowing what chapter you are in on a replay.
And the sad thing is you have to replay it as there is no chapter select.
It makes it hard to know when you want to start a timed run or look for a specific teddy bear secret.

Some people are probably going to praise it for its art direction but I'm not apologising for disliking sheer whites almost all the time. It's like going through life ONLY drinking water. Who would do that?!
I think if more of an effort had have been made with the scenery I might have given it a thumbs up, but combined with no chapter select and tripping over boxes I just can't.

Fun game, I'm not one for puzzle games but I bought it for $0.99 and had a great time playing it. I wouldn't pay $9.99 for it though. Not enough content for that pricing.
